Cant update OSX.2
I have a G3 ibook and was using OS9 quite happily for years and then wanted to install cubase which required OSX. Here my troubles have started, to the point where I could almost throw the laptop out the window and go and buy a pc. The ibook came with OSX.2 which I installed and then found out that internet explorer is useless and I needed a host of other updates. When I tried to download OSX 2.4 or 2.6 or 2.8 they all seemd to work until restart when the screen goes red and green and slowly becomes more mad as I try to use the cursor. I am sure this is just a problem with the screen as I can just about engineer the computer to re install OSX.2. I now have two previous system folders which are taking up more and more hd space.
Do I need to use a cd to upgrade the OS or is there a deeper problem? Mac experts out there! Please help! oh by the way I have only had one problem with it in all these years,a new reed switch was put in and at the same time they gave me a new logic board

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Some replacement logic boards are incompatible with OS X 10.2.2 through OS X 10.3.3.
If you were given one of these logic boards, the repair facility was supposed to install OS X 10.3.4 for you and send you the discs. Since you were happily using OS 9, they must have thought it unnecessary in your case.
You need to contact them and see if they will provide the logic board upgrade discs for you. If they refuse, you need to buy OS X 10.3 Panther (which is much better than OS 10.2, anyway), and use those to upgrade the OS.

You need to use a retail DVD to upgrade and not another Mac's original disks.

HI, sadly 10.5.8 doesn't support the newest iTunes.
First you need to research all the problems people are having with the higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6 if they still have it, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.

To go to iOS 4.2.1 you need iTunes 10 or later on the computer. If a Mac that requires OSX 10,5,8 or later.
To more easily find compatible apps:

cant update ..... i dunno why,i found some apps and games i cant install or play....because they need further version of osx, imac keep showing tt my imac was up to date......Ok here is the scoop, Go to the Black Apple and make sure your Software is Up to Date Then go to the App's Store and then you can Download Mavericks and after you do be sure to do a Software Update again and it will download Mavericks 10.9.2

The screen you're seeing on your iPhone indicates it is in recovery mode. Now since the device is not appearing in iTunes on your PC, first follow the steps in this article:

I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first. -

It would be best for you to open iTunes, sign in and view your account. If all the purchases were paid already instead of entering your new card information, it will give you an option for "NONE" as a payment method. Again this is not applicable of you have a pending charges with iTUnes

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
