Cant update to 10.5.8 Keep getting "run preinstall script" b4 restart
I dont know anything about scripts... I tried updating my mac mini and right before it restarts, it says that the install failed and says "run preinstall script for MacOSXUpdCombo 10.5.8"
I cant even update my iTunes to 9.2 (it says the same thing except is says "run preflight script")
I have no ideal what to do, i searched through the topics and nothing helped that i could find.
I retried it 4 times, I turned off energy saver and screen saver, i repaired permissions in Disk Utility, and i even downloaded the update form a link on apple.com instead of using the Software Update button.
Please help, im trying to update everything and want to update my iPhone but i cant (need an updated iTunes, i use to update it on my PC)

Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
Try using Disk Utility to run a "verify disk" operation. If that shows an error, restart your Mac with the shift key down to boot into "safe mode", which will run a disk repair operation.

I previously use an apple id called *** @hotmail.co.uk, I have tried to reset and even changed the id on the settings on my phone but each time I try to update an apple apps , I keep getting the same old ID on my phone. What do I do?
<Email Edited by Host>Is the same true for using the App Store with a desktop machine? Someone installed a program on my machine (the IT department) and I would like to install the updates but it was installed under a different Apple ID. This anyone know how to change, or work around this particular issue?
Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Cheers -
I tried to update my iTunes, but I keep getting a runtime error R6034 attempt to run C runtime library incorrectly. I also got an Error 7 (Windows error 1114). Now my currently iTunes will not open.

How do you updated CS5 Extended when you keep getting a message to close the program but it is close
How do you updated CS5 extended when you keep getting a message to close the program but the program is already closed? I have tried to do the update when I first turn the computer on, go directly to Photoshop, go to update and click on that, get new screen, close Photoshop, and I still get a message to close the already closed program. I believe I have to open Photoshop to get to the update area, so I don't know how to get around this issue. I hope someone can help me.
(I use win8, 64 bit)
Thank you in advance to all who answer my request for help.
AnnThank you for answering. However, when I opened the Task Manager and looked at all the processes that were running, the only things running were the Task Manager and the browser. None of the Photoshop programs were running. So, do you have any other suggestions?

I have a 2nd generation iPod touch. I have not updated the software from version 2.2.1. When I connect to iTunes to update to 4.2, I keep getting an error message. Has anyone else had this issue and figured out a way to fix it?
Error -1
Attempt to restore your iOS device two more times. If the issue is still unresolved, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

iTunes:
AppName: itunes.exe
AppVer: 10.5.0.142
ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
Offset: 001be6f6
Quicktime:
EventType : BEX
P1 : QuickTimePlayer.exe
P2 : 7.71.80.42
P3 : 4ea5c6ef
P4 : QuickTimePlayer.dll
P5 : 7.71.80.42
P6 : 4ea5c6d5
P7 : 00005b6d
P8 : c0000409
P9 : 00000000
That's consistent with another application (other than QuickTime) having dropped old QuickTime componentry in non-standard locations on the PC.
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view options on the PC.
1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
5. Click OK.
Now in My Computer, open your C drive.
Open the "Windows" folder.
Open the "system32" folder.
What files and/or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file/folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.) -
Just recently on my IPad I can’t update my App. I keep getting the error message “invalid Address” what is going on?
There are a number of threads about this - it looks like Apple recently updated their address validation. Some people have recorded success by :
ensuring that their iTunes account address is exactly the same as appears on their credit card bill
putting something in the second line of the address (including just copying the first line)
expanding abbreviations e.g. St to Street, Ave to Avenue etc (or conversely abbreviating)
putting apartment or suite number on the second address line
