Cant upgrade from Acrobat 9 Pro to Acrobat 9 Pro extended

Hello everyone,
I purchased the upgrade from Acrobat 9 Pro to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended, but get an error when I try to install. The error says "Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Setup will now terminate.". How is it that Acrobat pro is "more functional" then pro extended. I bought the upgrade because I need the 3d capabilities of extended pro. How do I work around this issue?

Oops. I just read that I need to uninstall acrobat 9 first. I now have a new issue. Acrobat extended installed fine, but now it is doing an upgrade check. It is asking for the serial number for the acrobat 9 pro. My old version was part of the Creative suite 4. When I enter the serial number from the creative suite it comes back as an invalid number. Why is this?

Upgrade from Final Cut Express to Pro 5.0

I think I made a stupid mistake. I purchased Final Cut Pro 5.0 upgrade thinking I could upgrade from Final Cut Express. But when I am asked to enter the previous versions serial number, it does not accept it. Is there any way to do this or am I going to have to buy the full version of Final Cut Pro?
Also, I have a G4 Powerbook with the following specs. Is it going to run the program if I do finally get it installed?

To upgrade from FCE you need the Final Cut Pro 5 Upgrade from Final Cut Express. I just upgraded FCE and that worked fine for me.

Install logic 9 upgrade from logic 7 on macbook pro retina

i bought a new MBP retina, (no disc drive) and want to install logic. my logic studio 9 is an upgrade from logic pro 7, and the 7 won't run on the new com.
So how do I do this install?

Could be you khave a corrupted Win 7 install file/files.
Try downloading the Win 7 ISO for the version you have from here.

Then burn that ISO to a USB or DVD, USB would be better.

Thinking of upgrading from my macbook to macbook pro just can't decide on the 15in or 17in, any suggestions

I am thinking about upgrading my macbook to a macbook pro, any suggestions on whether or not I should get the 15in or the 17in.

I got the 17" anti-glare high res and simply loving the heck out of it.
I can see the screen in sharp perfect detail in just about any environment with no reflections on the screen.
It displays 1080i (1920 x 1000) video in full resolution on it's 1920 x 1200 pixel screen.
Contrary it's much thinner than many 17" PC's of the same size and even less thinner than my previous 15" MacBookPro!
I got the 2.3 ghz model with the awesomely fast Radeon 6750M in it, I can even play 3D games in Windows in a virtual machine OS in OS X! A real sweet machine.
The performance of the 2.2 and the 2.3 ghz 15" and 17" MacBook Pro are just about the same.
The performace of the 2.0 Ghz 15" is less due to it's less than stellar video card. I would avoid this model.
The 13" is all integrated graphics, no 3D gaming or heavy video use, I would avoid it as well unless you don't have a need for heavy duty graphics.
Some people get a expensive workhorse machine like the 15" or 17" and then carry around a iPad or a very cheap Windows or even more secure Linux netbook for on the go purposes.
In this sour economy I get nothing but mistreatment towards my precious MacBook Pro, so I tout the light cheap box around in public for the basics and if I lose it, drop it or gets stolen it's no big loss.
If one has a vehicle then the weight factor really isn't a major difference, it's mostly if your in a major city, taking trains, subways or walking a lot that a light weight device is more preferred.
Some people have considered a iPad too weak for general use , need to run Flash and Office programs, need a real keyboard and got thus a MacBook Air instead.
So you have to find the right balance of hardware that works for your situation and needs. It might be two devices.

Cant upgrade from logic 7.0

when i try and install the upgrade from 7.0 to 7.0.1 or any other update, it says it cannot find logic in applications. when i launch logic it launches fine.
any reason for this?

The Logic Application HAS TO BE in the following folder:
Macintosh HD / Applications/ IN HERE
If you have moved it to another location, that is why your Mac cannot update it...

i wish to buy a laptop i see on the best buy web site which comes with win 7 home premium. i need win 7 pro with xp mode. can i order it with the win 7 pro with xp mode preinstalled by them or do i have to buy it as is and then bring it in to their store and have them do the upgrade?

You'll either have to choose a different model which has Windows 7 professional on it from the manufacturer or buy the one with Home Premium and do an Anytime Upgrade to Professional via a PKC (SKU 1303126)

Upgrading from Powerbook G4 to Macbook Pro. What to expect in HDV?

I have Final Cut Pro 5.1
I do alot of editing in HDV. Although editing HDV on my Powerbook in FCP is possible, it's a little slow and rendering times are a little painful. What kinds of speed/rendering improvements should I see if I purchase one of the new Macbook pros? What are some of the everyday improvements in FCP that you noticed by upgrading?

you are in for such a treat!
i don't have specific numbers for you, but the difference in performance of these machines is substantial
quite apart from cpu's and clock speeds, the MBP's have also got across the board better faster components such as faster beefier gfx gpu's, SATA hard discs etc

Can I upgrade to FC PRO X from FC Express or do I first have to buy FC Studio for $999.

Final Cut Pro X isn't an upgrade, it's a brand new software. The price for FCP X is $299.00 USD. When you install FCP X it will not touch or overwrite FC Express. You will have both programs on your computer. This is the same if you have FInal Cut Pro on the computer.

Do you want to just keep the content and libraries, or do you also want to keep the old application versions? As Niel says, new versions will come with the Mac Book Pro. It may be possible to run the old versions if you really want to, but depending upon the age of the version there may be disadvantages in the interface overhead for an Intel Mac to run PPC software.

Upgrading from what system to MacBook Pro?

Out of curiousity, what systems did people have before switching to the MacBook Pro? Any quick thoughts on the transition from your old system?

I'm going from a Gateway 200ARC - 1.4GHz PM, 512MB RAM, 40GB, Intel video (shares the main RAM). The MBP should be quite a jump for me.
The last Mac I owned was a PowerMac 8500/120MHz/64MB/1GB (that's not a typo, it had a full gigabyte of drive space) running MacOS 8.5. Again, the MBP should be quite a jump.

After upgrading from Win7 to Win8 Premiere Pro hangs on loading ExporterAVI.prm during start up

I've researched this problem extensively online and via the Adobe forums. The problem seems to have a multitude of causes and solutions, none of which worked for me. The only thing I haven't tried is a complete reformat and reinstallation of my OS which seems a rediculously drastic solution for what seems like a bug with either PP CS6 or Win8.
Also, as far as I can tell, I haven't made any other changes to Premiere whatsoever since the upgrade.

Yes, I've tried re-installing twice, but to no effect. I've tried every solution I could find online (and there were many) short of reformatting and reinstalling my OS, and nothing has worked.

I should rephrase that, for those Macs that shipped new with 10.7 or later, the only way to get 10.6.8 or earlier running is through virtualization of the server operating system. When I say "new" that means the way my tip 6841 identifies them.

iMac 12,1 i3 (EMC 2496 on foot, MC978LL/A), iMac 13,1 and later

All MacBooks (without Air or Pro designation) can at least use the system specific 10.6 installer disk that shipped with them if they are newer than 10.6's August 28, 2009 release.
Anything older you should at least be able to get a system specific 10.6 installer if not the retail disk.
The retail 10.6 disk that is available now works on pre-March 15, 2010 Macs. To be more specific on those Macs, that means:
iMac 11,1 and older
Mac Mini 3,x and older
MacBook 6,1 and older
MacBook Pro 5,x and older
MacPro 4,x and older
MacBook Air 2,x and older
can all use the current 10.6 retail available from the Apple Store.
Macs that fall between those criteria must use the 10.6 installer that shipped with them to install 10.6.

I cant upgrade from 10.5.0.142, missing msi file?

i can't upgrade itunes on a pc (XP) from 10.5.0.142. It stops and can't find the correct msi file.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select anyiTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

I don't see an upgrade path from PsCS6 to PsCS6 Extended on their web site.
