Cant use by WLAN an USB Printer connected to Router

Hello, Please help my by solving this Problem. I have connected a USB Printer to a Router. The Router recognizes the Printer an shows a Connection. But I cant use the Printer from my MacBook Pro by IP over WLAN. Can somebody help?

Hi ColinR,
Looking at the specifications of your BT HomeHub 3 I see that it does not support MAC spooling. To test for sure we can try connecting the printer directly to your Mac which would prove that the printers network function along with the USB function are working.
We need to restore your network defaults. On page 129 of your User Guide it explains how to restore the network defaults
To reset the printer's network settings
1. Touch (right arrow), touch Setup, and then touch Network. Touch Restore
Network Defaults, and then touch Yes. A message appears stating that the network
defaults have been restored.
2. Touch (right arrow), touch Setup, touch Reports, and then touch Print Network
Configuration Page to print the network configuration page and verify that the
network settings have been reset.
Then follow these steps to connect your printer directly to your computer.
Put the computer on the printers network (temporary)
Click on the air port symbol on the top left side of the Mac screen
Choose the network that look relative to the printer (might say HP setup or some variation of the printer name)
Find the IP address on the test report we printed.
Open an internet browser (Safari) and enter the IP address into the URL (address bar).
Click on the network tab, on the left click on wireless or 802.11.
At this point we are looking for "start wizard" should be on the right hand side.
Once we have successful configured the printer for your network you can put your computer back on your network. Now you can add the printer to the system preferences and print.
Let me know how it goes.
Thank you,
I worked on behalf of HP.

  • Print from USB printer connected to router using iPad

I have Canon Pixma MP198 printer which has only USB. This printer is connected to my D'link router using a USB cable.
Can I print documents wirelessly from my iPad 2? Without the need to turn on my PC if I want to print?
Any app suggestions are also welcomed!
This printer does not support airprint.
    Thanks

I have tried that app. It does not work.

  • Printing to USB printer connected to old iMac over Network

I have old Rev B iMac running OS 9 upstairs in the office, this has a USB printer connected to it.
Downstairs I have a Mac Mini running OS 10.3.9
Both these machines are networked together via a router. This all seems to work fine, I can see the drives of both computers from either computer.
My problem though is printing. I want to be able to print from the Mac Mini to the printer attached to the old iMac. I've done all the USB printer sharing business on the OS 9 iMac, but it still doesn't appear in the printer options on the Mac Mini.
Is this possible to do? .....looking through the help topics on my Mac Mini, there was several mentions of printing from OS9 to a printer connected to an OSX machine. But I haven't found any mention of being able to go the other way.

There is a way to do this, but it isn't easy. The grim details are:
    1. set up the iMac running OS 9 as a print server using the free utility Print66
    2. set up printing from the Mac running 10.3.9 in the Printer Setup Utility, choosing IP Printing using the LPR protocol, to the IP address of the iMac. Additional hurdle - you will need to use the third-party printer driver GimpPrint if you are using anything but a Postscript language laser printer on the iMac.
This will work, but unfortunately it is not an exercise for the beginner.
Incidentally, doing it the other way around is considerably easier (printer connected to and shared by the Mac mini running OS X). See Printing to a Mac OS X shared printer from Mac OS 9 via LPD/LPR

    Josejanko,
You don't supply much info other than your machine is old, so here is some info for you to check thru.
Before doing anything you should have a back up, preferably 2, in the event something goes wrong.
You would have to start by upgrading to Snow Leopard, you would need to buy the disk for about $20 here  http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Check the the requirements to see if your machine meets them.
You would then need to run the 10.6.8 v1.1 combo update to get it to 10.6.8 Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
You can then access the APP STORE and possibly upgrade to to further OSX.
You may have applications that will not be compatible with any thing past Snow Leopard, you can check those here Upgrading to 10.7 and above, don't forget Rosetta!
    http://roaringapps.com/apps
Office 2008 will not work with anything newer than Snow Leopard for an wxample
You may be able to upgrade to Lion or MT Lion or Yosemite, depending on your machine, from the APP STORE.
OS X Lion - Technical Specifications Lion

  • Print to USB Printer Connected to Airport Extreme Base Stati

Last year I purchased an Airport Extreme Base Station router, because at the time it was the only way to print wirelessly from my Mac to my HP USB printer.
I just bought my wife an iPad (3rd gen) and she is asking me how to print from her new iPad....and it's looking like it's not possible/practical. Something about the printer has to be "AirPrint" compatible. Is that true even if the printer is a USB printer connected to an Airport Extreme (not Express) router?
If so...then I totally regret wasting the money on such an expensive router!!!

Thanks, but I want to print directly via wifi with no PC or Mac in the middle. Looks like Collobos' solution requires that.
It looks like the most popular app for what I need is Print n Share. I'm going to try a different, free "Lite" app on the app store first and then may buy the Print n Share. Based on reviews, seems like it works perfectly for half the buyers and is a complete fail for the other half...

I have good communication between NETBOOK and HP Laser JET 1536 dnf MFP via WiFI-bridge.

  • Print to USB printer connected to  Airport Express using AirPrint?

Is there a way to print from iPad to a printer connected via USB cable to Airport Express? When i try to print from Safari using th print function, it is unable to find any printers

A printer connected via USB to an AirPort Express is not supported by iOS printing. That is described here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
But there are other solutions, unsupported by Apple, that should work if you don't mind having a Mac turned on to share your printer. You can take a look at FingerPrint, Printopia, and AirPrint Activator.

  • Printing on a non-networked USB printer connected to a networked PC

I'm having trouble printing at work (very small organisation).
They have a Lexmark laser printer connected to a PC through the USB port. In windows, they checked the "share this printer on the network" option.
Both that PC and my Mac are connected to the network via Ethernet through a single router.
Any suggestions on how I can get access to this printer at work??
    Thanks for any help.
    Marc P.
Ps: I have a printer directly on a network at home and can print no problem through IP printing (Printer has an ethernet network connection). But the printer at work has no network connection on it.

    Hi
    On the Mac:
    - Open System Preferences, go to "Print and Fax".
    - Click on the "+" icon bottom left to add a new printer
    - On the next screen, click More Printers
    - Change the top list to "Windows Printing". Change the second list to the name of your Windows workgroup (you may have to first change it to "Network Neighborhood", and then select the correct workgroup).
    - Find the name of the sharing PC in the list, and double-click on it. It should prompt you for a login. Use your login from the PC.
    - You should then see and be able to connect to the shared printer.

  • Wired PC won't print - usb printer connected to airport

I have an Airport Express running through a wired router to an ADSL modem. Epson 777 color printer connected to the Airport Extreme USB port - one iMac and one iBook (wireless) print to the printer, but my Windows XP desktop, which is connected to the ethernet hub, won't.
I installed Bonjour for Windows and the printer was detected. Installed the printer, but can't print, showing an error message.
I'd like to know if it should be possible to print from the PC in this situation.

Henry, thanks for the advice. As I was trying to configure the wired computers (actually for some time) and your advice seemed plausible, I purchased a Hawking wireless router with 4 wired ports. I hooked everything up and now could not connect to the internet. No Airport Express present. Just my DSL modem and Hawking router. I could create an ehernet connection, but no PPPoE connection.
Called Verizon support. They demured on the Hawking. They said if I bought a Lynksys router from them, they would support it, but nothig else.
Now that I know the difference between a router and a hub, I guess I'll try to find a working router.
Posted with my shared ethernet connection between two Macs and a hub over a DSL modem.

  • How do I get my macmini running Mountain Lion to see my Canon USB printer connected to my Airport Extreme? I have a macbook pro running leopard and that works fine. The versions of airport utility are different and I can't even see the printer from new 1

I am having trouble seeing my usb printer from my second gen airport extreme using the newest version of airport utility under Mountain Lion. UGH! And while I can see and network to my Canon IP5000 from my macbook pro running leopard, I can't from my new macmini running Mountain Lion. Any help would be appreciated in configuring my macmini so it can see the Canon IP5000 on the airport extreme. Don't want to "share" the printer from the laptop because that would be a cludge. Thanks ahead

I solved this one based on another post. Turned out I needed the snow leopard IP5000 driver. I had just copied over the leopard driver (I had saved my .dmg file) and installed that but it didn't work. So I downloaded the latest driver which turned out to be for snow leopard and I am guessing since it is 64bit that is why it worked and the leopard driver didn't. Anyway, I also had to hook the printer up via usb to the mac mini to get it to work locally before the O/S would see it over Bonjour via the airport extreme.

  • KT3 Ultra: No POST when USB Printer Connected

So this morning I turned on my PC to find out that it would not boot for some reason; the computer would freeze at post. I checked to D-Bracket and it gave the error code for Chipset Initialization. On a reset, the motherboard gave three beeps. After resetting my memory and reconnecting everything, I narrowed it down to the USB printer causing the freezing at POST.
What would cause this problem to occur out of nowhere? I've been running this USB printer without a problem for six months now, and now the computer won't boot with it! I've tried every USB port available too, and connected the printer to another PC without a problem.
    Here are my system specs:
    AMD Duron 1.2 @ Stock
    2x256MB Samsung PC2100
    AOpen GeForce2 MX400 64MB
    WD 15.3GB 2MB 7200RPM
    LG 52x CDROM
    LiteOn 52x32x52 CDRW
    D-Link DFE-538TX 10/100 PCI NIC
    Creative Sound Blaster Audigy
    CWT 350W PSU
    Antec P160
Windows XP Pro SP1 w/ all critical updates installed
One odd thing I did notice was after I printed yesterday and shut off the printer, the Safely Remove Hardware (the printer has a memory stick reader) tray icon did not disappear like it usually does.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When system doesn't boot, the printer is with the memory stick inserted ? Perhaps if you dissable " Try other boot devices" in advanced BIOS Features, you could solve the problem.

  • USB Printer connected to Airport Express not visible on iPad and iPhone

I have got two Airport Express devices in my network, connected by ethernet. Air Play works fine. Unfortunately my iPad and iPhone do not find the printer connected by USB. Printing from a Win PC to the printer works fine. The printer is visible in the Airport Express configuration and from Windows in the Bonjour printer search.
Printing from iPad and iPhone to printers connected to the Win PC works fine.
Does anyone know what might be wrong?

I read that the iPad 2 can print to an AirPort Extreme USB-connected printer.
That's only true of a limited number of printer models from HP. Future updates to iOS may change that, but that's not the case yet.
On this Apple Web page http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/airprint.html
see the mention at the bottom that "AirPrint works seamlessly with a new generation of wireless printers from HP."

  • Using Spotlight to search USB drive connected to Airport Extreme base stati

    Hi all,
I successfully connected a USB hard drive to my Airport Extreme base station (the drive has its own power supply; when I tried connecting a USB-powered drive, it wouldn't show up). However, I find that I cannot search the USB hard drive over the Airport network. That is not very convenient, to say the least. Is this possible without paying $500 for Snow Leopard server software or waiting for Lion (with a rumored built-in server function) to arrive?
    Thank you!

My last response was incorrect. The base station is in the finder window, under "Shared." I click on that and then I see the USB driver. Also, I went to finder prefs and clicked to show servers on the desktop. So now the USB drive connected to the base station shows up on my desktop. But I still can't search it.
    Thanks again.
