Cant use iMessage with Every iPhone Users

Hi, I just bought my iPhone 4s yesterday.
My iMessage works for some of my friends (iPhone 4/4s user) but not for everyone.
I was using iPhone 4 with IOS 5.1.1 previously and my iMessage is fine for everyone.
But now with this iPhone 4s, when I text my friends, some messages sent via iMessage while some as SMS.
May I know how to fix this? Thanks.

for imessage each of your friends should have latest ios that is ios5 or later. data connection or connected to wifi. reset the phone settings and try

iMessage uses data, just like an email, if I can use that analogy. It will not count as SMS, however I have read somewhere where some people have reported getting SMS charges when using iMessage. I believe it is impossible though, unless the message does not go through and you have send as SMS checked in settings if the iMessage fails.

Welcome to our family. We want you to be able to enjoy all the services we provide and we definitely need to address this. Do you receive/make calls without problems? Are you able to receive messages with your contacts' number? Are you using iMessages? If so, go to Settings>Messages>Send&Receive>only your phone number should be enabled.

HT204380 help. tried for first time to use FaceTime with another iPhone user & it would not work. "FaceTime failed". we are both on wi-fi networks & iTunes accounts are set up correctly.

help. tried for first time to use FaceTime with another iPhone user & call refused to connect. Call would dial, allow us to accept call, then error message "FaceTime failed" would appear & call disconnect. we are both on wi-fi networks, both phones have updated software & both enabled FaceTime with iTunes logged in. don't know what else to do to get FaceTime to connect. Thanks Helen for the response. At least you can get some of the contacts to work. Absolutely none of mine will. Feel like my phone is cheating me out something it should do. Think I'm going to just have to dump all the Apple products in general because this phone hasn't worked right since I got it.

I can use iMessage with all iPhone uses except for ONE person. That person can use iMessage with all other users, but not with ME. What's the problem???

I can use iMessage with all other iPhone users that I communicate with, except for ONE person. When I send to that person, it always goes through as a text message. This person can use iMessage with pther people, but when they send me a message, it always goes as a text. Why can we both communicate with other people using iMessage, but not with one another?

1) If you have OD set up and "editor" has UID 1111, then when they log in to any machine that's bound to OD as editor, they will get UID 1111. Therefore, there won't be any of these permission errors. This is typically the recommended approach.
2) I assume you mean "You'd prefer to not using open directory?" Whatever the case, OD isn't mandatory with Xsan -- it's just that with multiple user accounts, managing them centrally tends to be easier. For 3 or 4 accounts and 3 or 4 machines maybe it's no big deal. If you go larger, it could get a lot more complicated. That said, if you set it up such that each machine has the exact same set of users (as you said, Mary = UID 502, Fred = UID 503, William = UID 504), then you can do what you want. Mary can log in from multiple machines at the same time, and in general you won't have permissions problems. Of course, if you try and read and write the same file from multiple workstations at the same time, you will get file locking issues, which will prohibit somebody from successfully writing the file.
File locking issues are different from general permissions errors. The former basically says "hey, someone else is editing this file. Therefore I won't let you edit it right now... you can read it if you want though." Permissions means somebody saves it, and Xsan thinks you saved it and own the file, when you really don't.

was the other iPhone on the iOS 5? iMessages only works on latest iOS, so when you text an older phone it won't be free.
Also, even if you have iMessage, the color coding is what indicates if it will be an iMessage or an TXT Message.
iMessage = Blue
TXT Message = Green

I am trying to imessage with an iphone user and it says the number is not registered, howver i have the phone here and it is registered..

If theiPOd using the same Messaging email address as the common APple ID, try adding another Messaging email address (Setting>Messages>Receive At) and delete the Apple ID as the calling address.

IMessage stopped working with non-iphone users suddenly

I was able to text message from iMessage with non-iPhone users after the last update and now I suddenly can't. The phone numbers are in read and the messages won't go through. What happened?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

I'm guessing that you turned off the iPhone 5? If so, then are you using the same phone number as the 5? You need to go into Settings>Messages>make sure that iMessage is turned on and activated. Then go the Send & Receive and find out if your current number is checked.

IMessages is no longer working with certain iPhone users/cell numbers

I have been using iMessages with several people that have iPhones and it has been working for over a year. but all of a sudden those numbers are no longer "registered" although they were in the past. what could have changed?

Maybe those users have imessage turned off or are in an area with a weak wifi or cellular data connection.

Imessage doesn't work with non iphone users

My imessage used to work with anyone who text me. Then it stopped working after I updated my software on my iphone. I have got imessage working for iphone users but not non-iphone users. If they don't have an iphone, I can no longer send or receive their messages on my imac desktop. Can anyone help me?

I updated itunes, shut the phone off and on, it still didn't give me blue bubbles. Kept following the suggestions on the page ... I didn't know there was an IMessaging switch, but, shoot, it was OFF. Anyway, I toggled it on and now the text bubbles are blue again.
