Cant use scroll feature on my mouse pad(Labtop)
Only under Firefox does this happen. When i move my finger to the right of the mouse pad i see the option to scroll up and down the page, but i cant do this when i use Mozilla, it was working fine before

I can not scroll through web pages with the scroll feature on my touch pad. It worked in 3.6 and all other programs that I use. I have tried 4.0 twice with the same results, I've restarted, rebooted etc.
This should not be application dependant but a system function.
Now I will either roll back to 3.6 where I have troubles with some secure sites or just dump the whole thing and try Chrome.I have discovered the solution and it involves an issue I suspected. After the restore of my old Time Machine Lion files to my new MBP running ML, the restore restored my computer back to Lion. After an install of ML, my computer worked perfectly except the fancy Scroll and zoom featured we all love from the trackpad. Ha already installed ML on other partitions and the trackpad worked perfectly on them. Even the guest login's trackpad worked perfectly but not the main admin account.
First thought was to create a new admin account and copy everything from the old admin to the new admin and then delete the old admin account. Hated the idea because all files had to be copied rather than moved.
So what was left to do. I had thought of deleting all the apple preferences from the library and replace them with the contents of the library on another partition in ML. First I deleted old preferences many of which were old Lion preferences. That didn't solve the issue.
I forgot that Lion and ML HIDE the user library so I was working on the wrong library. Discovered the Terminal command "chflags nohidden ~/Library" and I chose to reveal the user library on a ML partition.
Solution:
I booted into another ML partition. I guess that I could have booted into the new admin user account and changed the permissions to access the old admin users Library But I chose to boot
from another ML partition: copy ALL the com.apple. XXXXX.plist files and the folder BY Host. It has special hidden files. Other way is to copy the Preferences folder we'll say into the Desktop.
I then proceeded to delete ALL the com.apple…….plist files and the Host folder into the trash. Then I copied all the apple.com…plist files and the Host folder and then rebooted. And now my wonderful Trackpad works as mountain Lion intended it to work.
I'm leaving this solution because there's someone else in the MacWorld with the same issue.

since updating to firefox 09 my scroll feature on my touch pad doesn't work. How do I fix this, please? I have a Gateway laptop. This has never happened before with other updates.

Cant use scroll on magic mouse
I just bought the mouse and set it up exactly how it said to. The mouse clicks and moves on the screen but the touch features do not work. I have OSX 10.5.8 and i put the magic mouse software update 1.0 on, but it still does not work. The system preferences window also does not show the same options that are on the instructions. Any help Please??
Note that the update doesn't take affect until after you boot. If you rebooted and it doesn't work, try the update again from here.

Updated to IOS 4.0.1 now i cant use ipod feature on my phone!
When i go onto the ipod it closes after a second or 2. Ive tried re starting the phone but it doesnt make a difference. Im annoyed as ive just purchased 2 new albums on itunes and cant listen to them now! I tried to check that the had been downloaded succesfully by going onto uitunes and purchased, but again it just closed the screen.
Does anyone know how to fix this?Care to enlighten us on the process they took to fix this?
I upgraded to iOS4 when it was first released. Havent had MUCH issues with it yet, but last night I downloaded a couple of albums via the store, and since then the iPod app crashes after 2-3 seconds, just like you. -
My mouse pad on laptop computer doesn't let me use the scrolling feature on
I am unable to use the scroll function on my mouse pad (right hand side) when using firefox. The function works on internet explorer and all other windows areas but not firefox. Is there a setting I can change to remedy this?

My computer is running windows 7, it's an HP tx2z touch screen laptop. My mouse pad scroll doesn't work on firefox 4. Also some features seem to missing such as the condensed menu bar and tab sorting that was spoken about in the introduction to firefox 4 video.
Apparently it's related to the Firefox plug in.
This isn't exactly a solution but more of a way to avoid opening PDFs with Firefox's plug in.
1. Highlight "Tools" from the Menu Bar in the top left of the screen (or click "Options" if using the Firefox Compact Menu)
2. Select to "Options
3. Select "Applications"
4. Look for "Adobe Acrobat Document" under Content Type and to the right under Action select "Use Adobe Reader (default)" instead of the using Adobe Acrobat in Firefox
5. Open a test PDF. It should open in it's own window now.
Again, not a complete solution but something that'll at least let you scroll with PDFs open.

How come I can no longer scroll down via my laptop mouse-pad with Firefox 4.0?
You know how you can use the mouse-pad on a laptop to scroll down on a web-page? I used to be able to do that in in the one before 4.0, but no longer can...anyone else have this problem?
Since today the scrolling started to work for me. Was there a fix auto installed? I havent updated anything that I know about.
I might have uninstall an old Java JRE, don't remember when I did it, could that have done it? -
I just installed the new mountain lion software on my iMac. I was currently running Snow Leopard. My problem is with my mouse. Now when I scroll down the page it moves in the opposite direction. In system preferences I tried checking and unchecking Natural for scroll feature. Movement from side to side works fine. Has anyone experienced this problem?
I think this new scrolling behaviour was introduced with Lion. You do get used to it pretty quickly (well I did). Are you sure that deselecting Natural Scrolling in Mouse Prefs doesn't re-instate the previous behaviour, it does here.

Thanks RolandThere actually is a type of "pointer" native to iOS. it's part of the AssistiveTouch feature, used to replicate multitouch gestures with one finger. You just can't control it with a mouse.
Anyway, as far as I can discern the iPad does not use nanotechnology in any part of its construction. -
Using mouse pad to change desktop
Hi, I would like to use horizontale two finger scroll to change desktops on my T61, I read the synoptics wiki and all I've been able to do is verify that my mouse pad supports it. I added the option in the 50-synaptics.conf.pacnew file but I just don't know how to set it so it changes desktop..
PS: I run openbox.

In any case, you are going to have to enable HorizTwoFingerScroll, then once that is done, you are going to have to configure that action to change desktops withon your openbox configuration. From my time with openbox, I think this is the rc.xml. Start reading the docs. Openbox is very well documented. -
990FXA-GD80 Cant use mouse in BIOS

I just installed my new motherboard and updated to the latest 11.4 BIOS but i cant use my mouse its a Microsoft Wireless Optical mouse 2000, i have tried all of the USB ports including the USB 3.0 ones is there a setting in the BIOS i have to enable.
ThanksPossibly the difference is using USB mouse vs: PS/2? Bios changes like voltage, that require use of + or - still require a keyboard. When the PC boots it shows that it is activating USB, but PS/2 is a different thing. See if you get different results with a PS/2 mouse if it is a feature you like? I rebooted and tried to see if my USB mouse works on the Bios screen. Not a program for Bios adjustments that some of the newer boards offers, the Bios screen using the delete to enter screen. My mouse did not work for that screen, and never has, for me on any of my boards. This is the first time I have heard a reference to using a mouse for Bios changes. Interesting, very interesting. We all learn something new, everyday.

After updating to Firefox 7, i've lost scrolling feature on my laptop touch pad
After I updated to Firefox 7, the scrolling feature on the laptop touch pad would not work. My OS is Windows 7. I also updated my other laptop and the same thing happened. That one has Windows Vista as it's OS
Try to modify the pref ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled on the about:config page from the default value -1 to 0 or 1 to see if that makes the scroll pad work.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

I had to restart my MBP three time, two after it crashed. Every time Spotlight starts to index the content on my Mac
which takes two hour. Then there is a delay when I start scrolling, both with the mouse and with the track pad.
I also notised that after changing the icons with Candybar they still appear unchanged in Launchpad, which makes
it confusing. Launchpad isn't consitent when putting the apps in aphabetic order, but jumble up some of the apps.
i don't get back the wab sites after restart as i was to believe I would.

Well one more might OK, there are more bugs then that, but I to tired to tell them all.
I have never found so many bug in such a short time (only in two hours with Lion now) with any other OS and I have worked with Macs since -91.

I have found that some plugins are accessing the internet without my permission.
And when I went into the plug in menu via the addons options through the Tool Menu option, I found the plug ins there.
BUT I never installed those plugins, and now they are there and they are accessing the Internet. Here are two images to show the plug ins disabled and yet another image showing them still accessing the Internet even when disabled.
I then removed them from the system (I did back them up first, just in case).
