Canvio Aeromobile SDXC

Hi there,
I bought the Toshiba Canvio Aeromobile device and i love it, works great!
When i bought it i assumed i could buy a 256GB SDXC with it, so i can add it in the SD Slot.
Now i read in the FAQ (1-8) that the Canvio will only do SDHC card, which are basically only up to 64GB.
When reading reviews there are mixed story's about using SDXC card, some say you DO can use SDXC card, as long as you change it to FAT32..
Does anyone know if this is true? Hope so.
If only SDHC card, then i wonder if there can ever be a software update adding SDXC support, or is this technically not possible?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
I found this document.
How can I get or check the latest firmware version for my Canvio AeroMobile Wireless SSD?
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/SPD4B03O30001R01.htm
There you can find this info:
To receive firmware upgrades for your Canvio AeroMobile, please enable the WiFi "Bridge Mode" in the settings menu. If there is a new firmware upgrade available, the system will prompt you to download and install the upgrade.
and here you can find info how to setup "Bridge mode" option, to provide Internet access to your devices while they are connected with your Canvio AeroMobile Wireless SSD?

  • Canvio AeroMobile not listed in wifi connections

I bought a Canvio AeroMobile (128GB) recently, and followed the instructions to connect wirelessly to my iphone 5s. All seemed to be going well until I was prompted to install the latest firmware, which I did.
Since the update, the device is no longer listed as a wifi connection, so I can't actually connect to it wirelessly, although it does work if I connect it via USB to a PC - but that kind of defeats the purpose of a wireless device.
I've tried pushing the reset button (for at least 5 seconds), turned it off/on, even reinstalled the mobile app, but still the same.
What it actually looks like is that the drive is trying to reset itself but failing to complete the process - when not connected to USB and I turn it on, the SD card light blinks once, then the wifi light turns on (and stays on) then the battery light turns on for a few seconds, then starts flashing fairly quickly (quicker than when it's charging) - and that's all it does, the blue wifi light stays on and the battery light keeps flashing. As I write this, the same lights have been going for about 3 hours . I can't see it listed as a wifi connection on any device (not just my iphone). If I press the reset button, nothing happens.
I unable to follow the instructions for doing a full factory reset as part of that process is to link to it wirelessly, which I obviously cannot do.
is this a known issue? I can't find anything about it on the internet.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You will need to enable wifi syncing before the phone will show in iTunes without being connected by USB. You can find this setting under the heading 'Options' under the 'Summary' tab in iTunes, when the phone is connected via USB.

  • Canvio Aeromobile RAW picture support

    Hi,
Just bought a Canvio Aeromobile to backup pictures from my camera when travelling.
I thought the neat feature was that it has a built in SD card reader so I can backup without using my laptop. Unfortunately it seems the Canvio does not support RAW files yet only JPEG.
I've been searching online and found reference to a new firmware upgrade that offers this functionality.
Apparently the version I need is 2.000.200 but I have 2.000.184.
The support document I found is on the Middle East support site:
    http://www.toshibamea.com/en/Wireles...age-AeroMobile
Toshiba UK support have told me that this firmware version is unavailable in the UK.
When I use the iOS app or my web browser to get an online update I get the message "No firmware detected" as I'm in the UK.
My question is - is there a way of doing this manually?
Using my browser actually prompts me to navigate to a firmware file on my computer as if I had already downloaded it.
    Its all very puzzling.

  • Run Windows 8.1 Pro on a SDXC card via VMware Fusion

    Hi everyone,
I'm kinda new to the whole Mac story.
Have been using iPhone and iPad from day one, but never could get myself to go off Windows.
    Well, a few weeks ago I bought myself a 13.3" MBP (Mid 2014 - 11.1 model).
It's the retina one with a 256GB SSD in it.
    Now my question is...
I have a license from work for VMware Fusion 7, and I need some programs to run on Windows.
But I don't wan't to partition my drive and run it via bootcamp, I want to keep my Mac clean.
Does anyone have experience or know if I can run this on a SDXC card?
I would use a 128GB SDXC card with 60MB/s write and 80MB/s read.
Can I stick this SD into the slot, install Windows 8.1 Pro via Fusion on this card and let it run on a decent level?
    Thanks in advance,
    And with best regards,
    Sonicje

Thank you for the fast responds.
I took a look into it and you are right.
The read/write speed is much higher and cheaper.
But, like I said, I'm nog willing to share my drive with Windows.
So I'm going to buy a 64GB USB stick (less than 60 euro) and going to install it on that source.
With 64GB I've some extra space for the futher if I need to work with more Windows only programs.
    Thanks again for the advice!

  • How do I use an SDXC card with iPad 2?

Is the inability to recognize an SDXC card a limitation of the camera adapter or something inherent in iOS? Anybody know?

Not a perfect situation, but couldnt you transfer pictures from your camera to the iPad using the USB adapter?

  • Using canvio desk on 2 computers?

I just purchased the Toshiba Canvio 3 TB Desk drive and am wondering if this can be used on more than one computer? I successfully backed up a computer with Win7 and now want to do the same with my WinVista computer, but am concerned about files being overwritten by the Drive's Setup file.

you can do the following. copy the itunes library folder and the itunes preference file
homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.itunes.plist from one computer to the corresponding locations on the other one. this will give you the same copy of itunes there (including playlists) that you had before.
to keep them synced afterwards is trickier.
check out this [mac os x hint|http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070225092702347&query=sync% 2Bitunes].
Read all the comments, they mention some 3rd party software like this one
    http://www.supersync.com/
P.S. you can also enable sharing in itunes on both computers if they are on the same network.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) will not read an SD card in the SDXC card reader. Does anyone know whats going on?

Hi David.  I don't have as modern a Macbook Pro as you, mine is a 2012 model, but perhaps I can help.  I often find that my SD card will not load when I first insert it.  I have to remove it and then put it into the slot again firmly.
You also haven't posted any information about the SD card.  What size is it, do you know how it is formatted, has it worked in that same mac previously, where did it come from, does it currently work in another device (such as your camera)?  This sort of information will help to narrow down the problem.
If you post some more information I'm sure people will try to help you.  In the meantime, if you look at your post again you should see "More Like This" at the bottom of the page and you may find an answer in some of those related posts.
    Hope that helps.

    Hi
I have just bought a Toshiba 1.5TB Canvio portable hard drive. It needs sto be formatted for Mac (OS10.5).  I was told to go to disk utility, format using FAT32.

  • Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 SDXC UHS-1 Performance

    Hello everyone.
Recently I purchased a Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 10" Windows. (Yoga Tablet 2-1051F). I also purchased a new SD card with it (Kingston 64GB microSDXC UHS-1 Class 1 +).
My question is: Does this laptop officially support microSDXC UHS-1 cards?
If it is supported, the performance of these cards is bad at the moment. Will there be an updated driver or third party driver that might fix the performance problem?
Benchmark: Average read on the tablet: 10.7MB/s. Average read on another old laptop: 37.2MB/s.
    Some extra information:
Hardware shows up as a: Generic SD64G SD Card
Hardware basically says it's a standard SD card, while on two other devices, it said that it was an SDXC card.
Hope anyone knows the answer to my problem.
    Kind regards.

Yeh, I know, space on tabs is always a problem.
Edit:  That is just the adapter that is in the pic.
    I have this one:

  • Can't rename a Canvio 2TB USB 3.0 drive

Hi, I've just got 2 Canvio 2TB USB 3.0 drives but couldn't rename either drive in Windows 7's explorer nor Mac OS X's Finder (with the Mac NTFS driver installed). Tho the new name is shown from the drive's "properties" but the name appear in Explorer is still the default "Toshiba Canvio Hard Drive". This is inconvient when I have 2 drives mounted but can't tell which one is which.

I always wipe new external drives clean.
If you have an autorun.inf file in the root, then ljaygould is probably right. It's this line that needs to change.
       label=Toshiba Canvio Hard Drive
Microsoft recommends you disable autorun altogether. Too much malware uses it.

  • One Computer No Longer Recgonizes My Toshiba Canvio Portable 500 GB Hard Drive

Hello. I have a Toshiba Canvio Portable 500 GB Hard Drive. I used it to back up my files on my main computer and connected it to that computer every now and again to download more files. Suddenly, it stopped being recognized by my main computer a while back. Or more accurately, my main computer recognizes it but says that it needs to be formated before it can be used. I have not idea what happened to it. Oddly, the hard drive is recognized by all of my other computers (a MAC, a Chromebook and a standard PC Laptop) and I can access the files on there using those computers.  I have never used any of the other computers to download files. Is there a way to figure out how to get my main computer to recognize the hard drive again without reformatting it? I'd like to add more files from that computer to it. Thanks for the help. (I recently reinstalled windows and the drives for the hard drive on my main computer and still no luck.)

If you can get the 2008 started move large libraries such as  your iPhoto, iMovie and iTunes libraries to an External HD. Once you have verified the libraries have been successfully moved then Trash the ones on the internal HD and empty the Trash. Once these operations have been done then use:

  • Toshiba Canvio 3.0 1TB not recognized by Windows 7

This external HD used to work with no problem.  Now I can't get Windows 7 to see its connected.  Here are all the solutions I have tried:
Tried on multiple laptops including Dell Inspiron and HP Pavilion dv7
Tried every USB port on all those computers
Checked Device Manager: device is not listed
Check Disk Management: device is not listed
Ran Microsoft Fix-It.  It says Hardware not detected because Windows Update not set to automatically install drivers.  HOWEVER, it IS set to install the drivers.  Not to mention, the driver is already installed.
I just want to access this long enough to get the files off of it, because the Canvio is a bitterly sad disappointment.  (I wish I could get my money back, but since I trusted Toshiba products -- the laptops, PDA, and now tablet -- that I didn't think this would give me an issue.  In fact, I bought the Canvio over the competitors BECAUSE it's a Toshiba. Here, everyone reports problems with it after a few months.)

Some have luck with the freezer treatment.
If the files are important enough, you can pay to retrieve them. These guys have a good reputation.

  • How do I recover files from a Toshiba Canvio Hard Drive?

I have been backing up my computer with a Toshiba Canvio Hard Drive. My hard drive failed and I had to buy a new computer. I would like to save my data to the new computer, but I don't want to do a complete system backup because it would overwrite my new computer's operating system (or would it?). I would like to save individual files to my new computer. Is it possible to do this?

No way. Doing that would never overwrite you OS at anyhow. You can able to restore files from the backup copy, though you will not be able to restore file one by one.
    Alternate way
Try professional recovery software if the above methods didn't help you. Download it from here,

Please share if you've any further question than this.
    Good Luck!!

  • Canvio 3.0 1TB Drive No longer shows up

I have a Toshiba Canvio 3.0 1TB External USB HD.  Today the drive disappeared in the explorer (no drive letter, etc).  The drive still appears in the device manager, however the Disk Management utility shows the drive is Not Initalized and when I attempt to initialize it, it fails due to an I/O device error.  I have the same problem using all USB ports and on another computer.  I uninstalled the drive from the device manager and reinstalled the drivers, all to no avail.  The light on the drive comes on and I hear the drive making noise but can't get to the data.  Do I have any recourse or is my data gone?

  • Yoga 13 SDXC Card Shutsdown Computer and it cannot restart with card installed

    Hi,
I have read on the forum that people are using the SDXC cards with their Yoga 13's.
I have purchased a Sandisk 64Gb SDXC ExtremePro card but when I put it into the Card Reader a blue screen comes up saying " Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart." It also gives and error with this message saying: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (TosExt.Sys). It cannot restart again until I remove the card, the same thing happens in SAFE MODE also or if I try to start the computer with the card inserted already. The card is brand new and I bought it in a reputable shop. I have tested the card in a Lenovo ThinkPad X230 and it works fine. I have also tried to insert a different standard SD card into the Yoga but the same thing happens. I have reinstalled the driver for the reader but the problem still remains. The OS is Windows 8 64 bit. The card is in ex FAT format and I re-formatted it again just to be safe but still no luck.
I was not able to find anything regarding this online but saw that some people here have similar problems.
I would really appreciate if someone could help or at least let me know if there is a way of contacting Lenovo about this problem, I see that they will only accept emails regarding the ThinkPad product line.
Thank you in advance and best regards to all!

I have also problems while inserting a sdcard but not on a Lenovo. I just give here what I observed but I have no direct solution
    1. I bought last year a Samsung chronos and it was impossible to put a sd card. Each time I get the blue screen with the message page_fault_in_non_paged_area (tosExt.sys). When I contacted Samsung they of course do not understand and suggest that I reinitilize completely the computer which I did. At this moment it was possible to insert a sd card without problem but as soon as I have installed my usual sotfwares it came back to the same situation : impossible to put a sd card.
    2. I bought meanwhile a second computer, an Asus Zen book, and got exactly the same problem. Both computer are operated under windows 8 but the upgrade 8.1 does not change anything.
    3. the only way I can read a sd card in both these computers is to use a USB adaptor. In this case there is no problem.
    4. I recently bought a Yoga pro 2 from Lenovo. Surprinsingly with the same kind of sofware installed, I can use directly a sd card.
This seems to be a tricky problem
