Cap 4 output corrupted by Flash 10.3?

I have a SCORM-packaged interactive SWF created in Cap 4 which was used last year with few problems. The course has been redistributed and now users are having problems, I suspect due to an upgrade to Flash 10,3,183,10 as this seems to be the common thread.
The interactivity includes an embedded word scramble widget, which now tells the user "They are correct" even when the page first appears (and they haven't done anything. The output also hangs throughout. I know these widgets will not work in Cap 5, so my question is:
Are there preference settings I can make in Cap 4 to republish and allow it to work in Flash 10.3? The alternative is a total redesign of the course in Cap 5, which could open another can of worms on the administrative side of the business. I would prefer the less time-consuming option of flipping a few switches in Cap 4, but I'm not sure which "switches" to flip to get it to work with Flash 10.3.
Have searched the Forum extensively, but am not getting the right keyword hits.

LOL, Hi Rod
Sorry, I forget that not everyone has seen those television commercials.
There is a hotel chain here in the US named Holiday Inn Express. The goal of the adverts is to say you become smarter by staying there. So the commercials often depict someone perhaps doing brain surgery. They conclude and the nurse says something like "that was amazing, doctor!". To which the "doctor" replies: "Oh, I'm not really a doctor. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!"
Cheers... Rick

Standalone Projector won't work on a Mac when output from Mac Flash 8 Pro
I'm outputting a Mac projector file that will work on my mac computer. However, when I upload it to FTP and download it my mac or another mac, it won't work! What's going on? I've tried adding ".app" to my file and it still won't work. Help!
Here's my set up: Flash 8 Pro on Mac Intel with Mac OS 10.4.11

    Hi,
Does it work if you .zip up the projector and FTP the .zip and then unzip the projector on the other Mac's?  A projector is basically an application.  Applications in Mac's have package contents and resource bundles.  When copying files over the network on Mac's, symbolic links inside the package contents and bundles can get messed up.
    Thanks,

  • CS3 fails to output an SWC Flash Component File

My workflow uses CS3 to create SWCs which I include in my FlashDevelop Project. But CS3 no longer outputs the SWC Flash Component File. It outputs the SWF, but not the SWC. So I set up this test FLA to see what's up...
I used a weird name for the MovieClip (MKLop2) to avoid any possible naming collisions and added AS3 to the MovieClip's timeline (a simple this.stop(); )  to ensure Flash was "seeing" enough content to warrant an export to SWC. I also tried right clicking the MC in the library and choosing Export SWC file... from the drop down menu. Flash processes the request but does not produce an SWC. There is an instance of MKLop2 which has been dragged and dropped on the Stage. So, I have done all I can think of to encourage Flash to output an SWC that I know to do. Have I just overlooked something simple? Thanks. Mond.

It all looks good to me and no you shouldn't have to do anything to get it to export items in the SWC other than add a linkage ID to each item you plan on accessing via code.
Perhaps try running Flash as Administrator to rule out any filesystem permission issues.
Lastly are you setting the SWF location every time? Make sure you hit the browse button and select the location every time you open the document. You should only need to do that once.

  • No audio output when playing flash player??

No audio output when playing flash player.   Any suggestions?  thanks.

Without going into detail on the DVD aspect of your question (ripping/decrypting a copyprotected DVD is illegal in some countries), what format is the audio in that file? Have you tried transferring (and then playing) any other video files, did they work?

  • Adobe Media Encoder CC Outputs Corrupted Frames

The film strip below tells the story - these are 6 frames from the rendered output of a project. Frames 1 & 2 fine, frames 3 lots of blocks and pixelization, frame 4 jumps back a few seconds earlier in the clip(!), frame 5 blocks and pixelization again, and from 6 back to where we should be. (Note that the pixelization actually occurs for 2 frames either side of the "historical" frame, I've only shown one each side below to shrink the image a little - happy to upload the full sequence as images or YouTube, etc).
Has anyone else encountered this? Fixes? (HELP!)
I originally output this a couple of months ago. I just updated my CC software to the latest yesterday and tried again - output is the same. I have output with different settings (one pass, two pass, various other quality features turned on / off), always the same output. The complete output is 4:17:39:07 (yep, just over 4 hours), and the corruption starts at 2:48:59:10. Source video is clean, and if I pull just this section out to its own timeline and output, it outputs clean - that's how I ultimately fixed it (output the piece separately, hand edited it back into place with TMPG MPEG editing tools). What scares me MOST is that I only noticed this because it was right near a chapter stop on the final DVD - where else is my video likely to be corrupt?!? I don't normally watch every frame of the final rendered output (it's all reviewed during the edit), and I shouldn't have to. I'm wondering now where else this might have occurred that I don't know about.
For review, here is the summary of source / output data:
    Source: Sequence, 2013_08_31_National, 1440x1080 (1.3333), 25fps, Upper, 04:17:39:07, 48000 Hz, Stereo
    Output: 2013_08_31_National.m2v, PAL, 720x576, 25 fps, Lower, Quality 100, VBR, 2 Pass, Min 2.80, Target 4.10, Max 7.00 Mbps, Dolby Digital, 192kbps, 48 kHz Stereo, 16 bit
I normally have "Render at Maximum Depth" and "Use Maximum Render Quality" checked on the final output, although I did do an earlier draft output of this without those checked - exact same frames had errors.

I have the same problems making videos for a DVD.. I have been rendering output for 15 musical videos, and they behave like madmaxmovies explains. I don´t know how to get a film strip like above, but my videos do the same. Out of the 15 videos, only one has no problems at all, the rest have like 2 - 3 such passages in every video (2-3 mins long)
Source (example): AA040101.MXF, Type: XDCAM-HD 422 Movie, File Size: 1,9 GB, Image Size: 1920 x 1080, Frame Rate: 25,00, Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 16 bit - Mono, Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Mono, Total Duration: 00:05:55:05, Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,0
Output (example file): PAL, 720x576, 25 fps, Progressive, Quality 75%, VBR, 2 pass, Min 2.80, Target 5.00, Max 7.00 Mbps, PCM Audio, 48 kHz, Stereo, 16 bit
    UPDATE:
I tried to make an output directly from PP. The first result was good - no problems, but in second output the problem occured again, in a different spot compared to the "Jump" in the previous output.
When importing the mpeg-file with corrupted frames, into a timeline in the project, the output of this video-file did not have any corruptions in the spot where it previous was, Also when rendering just a small part of the original file, around the spot where the corruption had occured before, this output was ok.

  • Output folder in Flash Builder 4.6 refuses to be anything but relative

I just updated from Flash Builder 4.5 to 4.6. Things seemed to be going ok in terms of importing all my projects etc. (why can't there be a simple upgrade process rather than a complete uninstall/reinstall process?)
But then I got to setting the Output Folder within the Flex Build Path section of the properties of my project.
Now, as our dev environments we run glassfish servers locally on our testing machines and build our apps directly into them so our testing process is very quick. This was working fine in Flash Builder 4.5, I point my app's output folder to a location of the form:
    C:\Users\myUserName\glassfish3\glassfish\domains\domain1\eclipseApps\appname
And that works fine, set by pasting in from an explorer window or Browsing there via the Browse button next to the field.
Now when I try to do this within Flash Builder 4.6 I get nothing at all appearing if I use the browse button. No error, nothing saying it failed, just an empty field. If I try to paste in anything I get an error from Flash Builder saying '"Paste" did not complete normally."
If I try to just type in the path it fails, it strips the leading C:\ and turns it into a relative path, which is completely useless.
    This is getting really annoying!
Log file output after I tries to browse to the folder:

  • Flash files not working in Cap 5.5 upgraded from Cap 3 or 4 and Flash 8

We just upgraded some projects from Captivate 3 and Captivate 4 to Captivate 5.5 and now some of the .swf files we have on certain slides do not play. They play in Flash itself and they play in Captivate when I use F3 for that slide, but when I create a .exe or do a Preview, they don't play. (and I have these on my local drive) I re-imported one and it worked but an older one I re-imported still doesn't work. Is it because it might have been created in an older version of Flash? I tried setting the Flash version in Captivate to 9 and 10 and nothing seemed to fix it. I think I have Flash 11 loaded. Should I unload it and go back to Flash 9 or 10? Or do we have to recreate those files in Flash 9, 10, or 11? it seems like I had this problem a long time ago in Cap 3 and we had to set everything to Flash 8.

oK, I think you are right... some of the files work and some do not... UGH and when I reimported, they said they were AS2... so far I'm not a fan of 5.5 but I'm sure it will grow on me... just don't like that things don't convert and I can't find some of the easiest things... they hid the X and Y coordinates when they used to be at the top of the screen... now they are under Transform? ok, I'll stop griping... for now...

  • Audio Output Corruption when using USB MIDI keyboard controller

recently, i'm getting intermittent corrupted audio output (short blips of distortion) while playing through my usb midi keyboard. i thought maybe some data got corrupted on the disk over time so i wiped the drive, reinstalled osx, installed all updates, hooked up usb keyboard and all worked fine. today, i plugged in the keyboard and the distortions have reappeared. i unplugged the keyboard and played with the Musical Typing- still distorted. i rebooted and tried Musical Typing- still distorted. I removed the usb midi keyboard device from Audio MIDI Setup, rebooted, and the distortions have disappeared when using Musical Typing. Connecting the keyboard causes the distortions to reappear. I'm at a loss.

  • Import Swf file corrupts in Flash CS3

    Hi,
I have recorded my desktop activity in "My Screen Recorder
Pro" and export the movie as swf file. While playing it on Flash
player 9, I found NO problem at all but when I import it into Flash
CS3 (or Flash 8) to embed with my project the file get corrupted
and I could see black solids squares in between. How do I get clean
swf file which is just fine when playing in Flash player?
    Raju Sachania

Probably because you used _root within your scrollbar code.
    If that's the
case you can fix by setting lockroot to true, within your
    scroll bar swf.
Just place a this._lockroot = true; as the first line in
    frame 1's code.
That being said, it's better to simply avoid using _root.

  • HP Laptop. Blank screen and caps and num lock lights flashing.

    Hi,
I hope you can help me.
My laptop is the HP Pavilion DV6-1216sa, bought new in September 2009. When I turn it on, I get a blank screen, the fan is working and the wifi, volume and mute lights light up. The caps lock and num lock lights flash together, once everyone 3 or 4 seconds. Normally when this happens (it has happened throughout the life of the laptop), I turn it off and turn it back on, and it works again. However this time, the problem persists. I've tried most combinations to get the bios screen up and I've tried getting it to another screen via hdmi and VGA, but no signal received. I have tried everything recommended by the HP support website. I have checked the battery, ram, and hard drive.
    Best regards,
    Jay

The best cheapest fix is if you can remove the motherboard your self and send it to a refabricator who will check all the chips on the motherboard and reball the bad ones. Cost is about $60-120, closer to the bottom if you can ship them just the board but if necessary they will take the whole laptop and remove the board for you.

  • Mac Mini with no monitor controlled via VNC - video output corrupt

    Hi,
I have a Mini running with no monitor, mouse or keyboard connected (it's used as a Server for my music library) that I control via VNC on my Mac Book.
Everything works fine until I ever have to reboot the Mini. After the reboot, logging into the machine via VNC shows all the video corrupt (jagged horizontal lines through the whole display making it totally undreadable).
This happens both with ARD and Chicken of the VNC (tried both in case it was an issue with the VNC software).
To fix it I have to connect a monitor to the Mini. Then I can just unplug the monitor again and the video output via VNC is fixed.
Anyone have any ideas? It's driving me nuts
    Thanks,
    Neil

    After some more searching I stumbled across this thread on another forum;
    http://www.macusenet.com/archive/index-t-75211.html
It seems that the problem can be avoided by connecting the DVI-S-Video adapter that ships with the Mini.

    2) won't boot - fan powers up then powers down, then waits approx 12 sec, then caps lock & num lock flash approximately every two seconds.  I interpret this as repeated flashing of one, but it keeps flashing.... diagnostic document says it's supposed to repeat only 6 times.
Scenario: Closed the laptop lid, which caused it to go to sleep, but this time it never awoke!.  Fan has been grinding but still worked, however upon dissasembly discovered the heatsink was partially plugged.  ALWAYS RAN HOT DUE TO POOR DESIGN. It was a hot day, and closing the lid actually increases the temperature.
    3) I presume, and I am pretty sure about this, that this laptop has no thermal shutdown threshold, i.e. shuts down automatically when it gets too hot.  Every desktop motherboard I've seen allows thermal limits to be set.  Another fail.

    Hi,
This book shows you CPU's supported from day 1:

  • Motion Project Output Corruption

    Greetings all,
I have created a very simple motion menu in Motion comprised of the following layers from the bottom up
Background - Contains a black generated background
    Layer 1 - Actor 1
    Layer2 - Actor2
    Layer3 - Actor3
    Layer4 - Title
The actors drop in from the top in a cascading method from left to right and finally title. etc.
All that works well and I have the timing I desire.
    Problems:
    a) No matter what compressor method I choose for a still image output to use as a guide for my overlay, I get a totally unusable artifacted pixelated image.
    b) when I try to export as a QT movie to use in DVDSP or export to compressor to use as my motion menu etc. I get the same unusable terrible result.
    c) I see everything perfectly on the Apple Monitor during creation and playback, however the same playback video image is trashed on the NTSC monitor, looks just like descriptions above.
What in the world am I missing?
    Thanks very much!

    Thanks Patrick,
I dumped my plist while waiting for answer, and was coming back to post that I had cured the issue, but I will also follow your suggestion.
An addtional question if I may, I remember reading some place about the workflow for best results in using Motion for menus. re: the quality of the output.
While I have a useable file now, the quality seems a tad low, i.e. the images are fuzzy - can you you point me to the correct thread?
    Thanks ever so much.
