Cap 5 - All questions included in quiz?!

Hi All,
We have a 50 slide module with practice questions scattered throughout. At the end we have a 10 question assessment. I've noted that cap 5 includes ALL questions in the 'quiz results' screen - even the practice questions.
To resolve I had to hide the number of questions - which worked to a point UNTIL... if the user fails the assessment they have to click the retake quiz button and this directs them way back to the very first practice question in the module which is definately not what we want - I want it to go back to the first assessment question. Captivate used to have an option - for questions 'include in quiz'. Has this option been removed - I can see it for buttons but not for questions...
This is a fairly significant problem for us.

For your practice questions, on the Quiz Properties tab, have you set General > points to 0, and on the Reporting accordion unticked the Report Answers box?

Hi I am new to Captivate and SCORM. I've been reading the forum discussions and Lilybirl's blog, and learned a lot in the past few days. I wish someone could help me with this too:
We hope to design a course within a single captivate project which allows the following functions:
There are several pre-tests and one post-test. The scores from each pre-tests will be used for branching purpose. See, if one takes pre-test 1 and passes, then she will go to lecture 2; otherwise goes back to lecture 1; if one takes pre-test 2 and then passes, then she will go to lecture 3; otherwise go back to lecture 2; same for pre-test 3, 4, 5, .... Now I know that I can use a customized variable to realize this part. I can create a user varaible as pretest_score, and set it as 0 at the beginning of each pre-test; let it do the math everything the learner answers a question slide. Then at the end of each pre-test, jump based on the value of the pretest_score. Then for the post-test, the pretest_score will be set as 0 again, and the culculation will start from 0. It will also generate a customized report page to report scores on each pre-test and also on the post-test.
However, we wish to be able to pass only the final score on the post-test to the LMS. Since I read that most of quiz variables are read only. Is there any way I can get around this? Is there something in the SCORM package that I can change to the variable that I created so that I can pass this variable's value to the LMS?
Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Hi,
I do not describe it in the blog posts, but you could also set the scores of the pretest question slides to 0, and track those scores only with a user variable and advanced actions. That way the total score will have only the scores of the final test, where you attach score to those question slides. Only one annoying thing: the total number of questions will have all the questions included, same with the number used in the progress indicator. You'll have to avoid showing those numbers to the user, but if you can live with that, could be easier than to create custom question slides.

How do I set up a Bonus question in a Quiz?

I have a 30-question multiple-choice quiz that is graded, and would like to add a "bonus" question at the end-- so that if the user answers correctly they get extra points, but if they don't answer or answer incorrectly there are no consequences (and the final score is still out of 30 questions).
Is that possible to do?

Do I understand this correctly: final score can be either the result of the 30MCQ slides or the sum of those slides + bonus question result? But the passing score remains the same?
You could use 'Branch aware' in the Quiz settings. The result is that all system quizzing variables will be related either to the 30 MCQ slides or to those+bonus question: total score obtained will be higher but also the total max. score, number of questions etc. Is this what you want?

Set default password for all users including csv file

I would like to set the default password for all users
including the ones imported in the csv file?
Also now the default passwrd in set to the email address. How
do i change that setting to the "login" setting in the csv file so
those users can loin with that password?

You could download and install RCDefaultApp 2.1 for all users: check the Read Me and then test it on something to see if it accomplishes what you want.

How to pause screen when reporting "include in quiz" is on

In captivate 6 in a noraml screen i am using a button and added reporting "include in quiz" option
also added the script on "On Exit" as below
the above script work fine on all other screens, but when the reporting on button is on the above script does not work, As i have observed that timeline dose not reach to last frame of the screen where this script should run. the action above for "Show = Play_btn" and "Hide = Pause_btn" does not the me the change in the image.
please suggest me for the solution.

On the next button on which the reporting is on the action is just to go on next slide.
below is the screeshot for Timeline for one of the screen.
i have observed that by adding the reporting to button on any screens (with custom next back buttons used) will not pause the screen till we click the next button assigned to go to next slide.
also as in the action panel screenshot above i have only used the hide show command to show hide 2 images which are used on 1st screen and set to be used for rest of the project. which are working fine if the reporting function is off. it is not working if the reporting on any button on any screen is done on.
pls suggest if any other option to do so.

Shape Buttons - Include in Quiz?

Is it possible to have a Shape Button act as a normal button and get a reporting tab and the option to "Include in Quiz?"
I have a number of shape buttons I would like to use for scoring purposes but there doesn't seem to be a way to get them to advance the score like a normal button.

Let's see if I can explain my thought process.
I have a slide set up with four "answer" buttons (A-D). I want the students to get a variable number of points depending on how many buttons they have clicked before getting the correct answer. So, if they get it right the first time they get 3 points. The second time, 2 points, etc.
I've done this in an advanced action that checks their answer and the number of buttons they have clicked and then shows a Shape Button that is "Included in Quiz" for the correct number of points the user has scored. So I have four of these Shape Buttons - each adding a different number of points to the score from 0-3.
This worked GREAT on a single slide, but I'd like to do this 5 times in one exercise and I realized when I duplicated the slide that all of the buttons were copied and renamed. That means I have to update all of my advanced actions.
Because you cannot nest actions, I have 4 set up (one for each answer button.) That was painful enough, but I got it to work.
But to do this for 5 slides means I would have 20 advanced actions that all do ESSENTIALLY the same thing. (Not being able to nest actions is silly.) I don't want to maintain that.
So I thought that if I could have those score-incrementing buttons available on all slides through the presentation, they could keep adding the slide's results to the Quiz score, and I could refer to them by name in my 4 advanced actions only. That's what I was trying to do.
My pain could be lessened by one of the two scenarios (neither of which, I'm learning, is possible):
Nesting actions
Incrementing the Score as part of an Advanced Action.
Is it possible to manually update the Score using JavaScript? That was going to be my next trial but I was so frustrated last night that I just walked away.

It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

How do I include the quiz taker's name in the Quiz Results email?

I'm using Adobe Captivate 4. I want to include the quiz taker's name in the Quiz Results email. Is there to do this?

My experience with Captivate is minimal. Once again, the version that I am using is Captivate 4. I am not using an LMS. When someone takes a quiz and submits it, the email that I receive only contains the quiz ID and the test results themselves. I would like to be able to have the results include the user's name or at least his/her email address. Is their something that I can do with a variable to accomplish this? Or, is their some sort of third party widget available?

Unfortunely, all movies and songs purchased in iTunes will be lost...you'll have to purchase them again! Any applications you've purchased, you can download again for free.
Music Rescue is a program you can use to transfer any and all data (music, movies, pictures..) from your iPod to your computer, and iTunes.

Can Captivate 5 allow user to answer all questions and then submit?

I am doing a management comparision so our team can select our standard quizzing tool. I am comparing Quizmaker by Articulate and Captivate. What we are not going to do is say; "this tool is our standard and we will always use it." We know that not one tool will do everything we need all the time. But I need to provide the pros and cons of each tool. Which is root of my question below:
As for CP, I thought there was a way to allow a users to answer all questions and submit them at the end. But I cannot seem to find that. Quizmaker does a really good job with this and the review is really quite good. I find the skip and back buttons kinda buggy in that a novice user could very easily skip through each and every question and get a 0% at the end. Ideally, I would like for them to be able to answer all the questions and submit them all at once.
Can CP5 do this?

The option to submit all scoring data to the LMS only at the end of the project is dependent on selecting a particular SCORM template when publishing the movie.
If you have Captivate 5 with the latest update, or Captivate 5.5 this option should appear under the SCORM options.
