Cap6 Missing slides after publishing

Hi. Captivate 6 (with latest patch) is failing to publish all slides in a course. With each republish, different slide are skipped. Note that this same course file published successfully about a month ago. The only difference then was that the project did NOT use a playbar - it had custom back and next buttons. Buttons have been removed and the default playbar is now in use.
There are only 15 slides. The number of slides that show up after publishing varies each time.
After one publish, I was able to back into the missing slide - then it disappeared again.
Project specifics:
publishing to SWF (tried both Flash 10 and 11)
no audio
no other imports (such as PowerPoint slides)
contains a few simple advanced actions (show/hide)
contains a name variable
uses animation effects
No slides are Hidden.
there is no branching.
...what else?
Assuming the file was corrupted - I started a new project from scratch, just copying the objects and master slides to the new project - exact same thing happened in the newly created project. I also tried using different playbar themes. Nothing is working. Help?

Are you working on project files stored locally on your hard drive?
Are you on a corporate network with roaming profiles or virtual My Documents folders?
Are you always using Force Republish All Slides when publishing?

FP 10 only - Audio does not match Powerpoint slide after publishing

This is strictly related to Flash Player 10
We create E-Learning courses related to Autism. We usually
start with the Powerpoint and audios and load them into Captivate.
Match the Powerpoint and the audio together. We then Publish it to
our website. If I preview the whole chapter WITHOUT skipping
forward by using the slider or clicking on forward - backward, it
will work just fine. If on the other hand I click on forward,
backward or use the slider the slides and audios get out of sync.
This only happens to the published courses that are watched by
machines that have the Flash Player 10. Flash Player 9 and before
will work just fine. Our website is elearning.autism.net and I have
created an account for whoever wants to troubleshoot it. I've
created the following account. Username: test, password: test
Try this course after log on: Autism-> Introduction ->
Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorders -> scroll down to
Chapter 4 slide 4: Listen to the audio with slides (Audio Length: 3
minutes 54 seconds, 6 Slides).
We've had some courses created in Articulate and they've
issued a patch to fix this problem. I've downloaded their patch and
installed it and our previous courses done in Articulate got fixed.
No such luck with Captivate yet.
I am sure this is related to some scripting. Another problem
is that the loader does not come up anymore.

I am having a similar problem. I recorded a tutorial with
audio at the same time using an external mic. After I published,
the audio would play through about 5 slides then it would just cut
out. I'm not sure what you mean by add one second of silence to the
end of each slide - If I do that it will mess up the audio that
goes with the tutorial. Is adding the one second the only way to
get the audio to play consistantly? Would it be different if I
added the audio afterward?

How can I get Captivate to revert to the top of the screen for each slide after published?

I have a project captured in 1024x768. If the user has many toolbars in browser, they have to scroll to see the whole screen. If they use F11 in IE, this virtually eliminate the problem. In MAC however, there is no F11 feature. So, how can I get the published Captivate file to load each new screen at the top scroll position? I have tried changing the html and tried adding Multiple Actions on success to click boxes with Go to Next slide and Execute JavaScript command: onload='window.scrollTo(0,1)'. Neither are working. Any idea how to get the screens to stop holding the previous screen position?

Hi GoldenCJ,
Please remove "onload" from your javascript command. The "onload" event is fired when a html page(or any other page for that matter) is loaded. In your case the page is already loaded, that is, the page is loaded again when the user moves from one slide to another. Hence your javascript will not be executed.
So just have
"window.scrollTo(0,0)" as your javascript.
This should work fine.
P.S. The execution of the javascript is browser dependent and browser settings dependent.I tried with chrome,IE 6 and FF 3.5, it is working. Please make sure that your target audience have javascript enabled in their browser.

Missing image after publishing

I published almost 50 courses in the earlier version if the
presenter and never had this issue before. Now when I try in the
latest version (6.2), something strange happens. The logo in the
published files goes missing, while it still exists in the
powerpoint. I reinstalled the software, but didn't help. Did anyone
face this issue?

Check the folder that holds all the external content for the
Presentation (in the same location as the PPT and PPC file. I've
seen those files go missing from that folder on occasion. Also,
check that they are in the same folder just within the Presentation
folder.

Captivate 7: slide with mouse will not auto advance after publishing

After I export my Captivate video, any slide that has a mouse object on it does not auto advance. I suspected that maybe the clicking sound file default attached to the action may have become corrupted, so I opened the sound file attached to "single-click" from Captivate. In the VisualClicks folder, there were no sound files. So, I opened the ClickSounds folder and attached the Mouse.mp3 file to this action. After publishing the training, the slide still will not auto advance. The slides that do not have the mouse action advance automatically as they should. The sound file may not be the issue (going to try to uncheck all of the Mouse Click Sound check boxes and republish to see if that helps).
Was hoping to find a solution for future videos.
Each slide is basically a layer of audio > slide > png file > the occasional smart object and/or text > mouse. I have no quizzes or video.
When publishing I use the following setup swf/html5 with swf + html5 checked and scalable HTML content checked. We use Google Chrome and I've had numerous people try my HTML link after I've uploaded all files and everyone has the same issue.
1- Do you happen to know why the mouse action would cause the slide to not auto advance, and if so please let me know a solution so the user doesn't have to click next. If the mouse itself isn't the culprit, any other suggestions on what could cause this?
2- Is there a way to make changes to the audio or override the mouse properties on all slides? I tried right clicking and "use the current mouse pointer for all slides" but it didn't change any of the properties. Thankfully my video is only 110 slides or it would have been even more painful.

For the record, I did create a new project with only two slides to try and duplicate the issue. I had the same problem. I unchecked the Mouse Click Sound check box, republished and the slide auto advanced. I'm wondering if a default sound file was somehow moved or deleted? I discussed uninstalling and reinstalling C7 onto my laptop, but that's a frustrating solution haha

BR3 missing an adjustment slider after installation.

After downloading CS3 to a new Vista 7 computer, a slider adjustment is missing from the basic screen when Bridge is opened to work on CRW photos. The adjustment missing is: "Sharper". It was located above the Vibrance scale. There is now a box above the Vibrance scale that says "convert to BW" -- it was not there on my previous computer screen. Can I get the missing slider back?
BR3 is imbedded in my CS3 software; it is not a separate program.

A clearification of the jargon please. CRW cannon raw. What is BR3? I assume Bridge?
Did you transfer CS3 to new computer, or download it from somewhere? It has not been on the market for years.
What version of ACR are you using?

After Publishing we have missing album art

Hello,
After publishing our iTunes U Public site last night, I came into the office this morning to find that about 90% of the album art on the Provider page is missing. The album art does appear on individual Collection pages.
I do all the work on a desktop but our video people upload videos to 9:00 pm. I had taken my laptop home and published it there at night. Would this have caused an issue?
I also now see that I no longer have access to the Public Site Manager. I am still listed as the Primary Administrator but do not have full access. There is a list of people who can do edits and my name is listed there but does not have a pencil icon.
How do I get my rights back as the Public Site Manager? How do I have the album art show up?

I have found that scrolling through the album list (past albums without art) triggers the progress wheel next to the wifi symbol. You can scroll quickly through the whole collection and then wait! Artwork will appear gradually...
However, repeat visits to the Music App might initially show no artwork again, but it might spontaneously appear more quickly this time. The bad news is that the whole Music App is now sluggish as ****...

Quicktime Thumbnail missing after publishing

I'm using iWeb '09 3.0.1. to build my website. I've got lots of quicktime videos. I used the Inspector to select a thumbnail for my Quicktime clips, but after publishing the clips just start in black. I've had this problem since I first built the site last year. I thought with the latest version of iWeb it would be resolved. No go. I'm having other issues like most of the videos not publishing, but I'm going to try a clean publish later tonight after I delete all the current files and folders from the host site. In the meantime, any suggestions on the thumbnails?

As Roddy pointed out others have had problems with the poster frame feature in the Inspector/Quicktime pane. What's the URL of your site so we can see first hand what you're referring to.

Captivate 3 audio problems after publishing...

Help please... having problems with audio getting messed up after publishing. I'm recording all audio w/in Captivate3. When I publish and put on our browser, the audio is missing on some slides, also if you pause for FF the video, the audio sometimes is overlaping, or not in sync. Any suggestions?

I apologize for not getting back sooner, been swamped at work and I'm
moving. OK here is my laundry list of bugs and nice to haves:
   - BUG - If I add silence to the beginning or end of a wavelength, it
   gets cut off when I save and close the wavelength. I then have to reopen
   the wavelength and add it back in and save it again. If I don't add silence
   the audio gets cut off when I publish. This has to be done for every slide
   I have and it's very repetitive.
   - BUG - If I create a movie over say 45 slides, the slides bleed into
   one another and images are lost or added to the next slide. If I use Fade
   for the transition it's even worse.
   - BUG - If I use Fade for a transition between slides with characters
   the characters bleed from one slide to the next.
   - NICE TO HAVE - The ability to set Preferences for characters per
   project or for all projects. For example, set the size and duration
   defaults.
   - NICE TO HAVE - It would be nice to have the default tab on the audio
   wavelengths be Edit not Add or Replace. I do a lot of narrating so having
   to click Edit for each slide becomes tedious.
OK, I want to be clear that I'm not beating up Adobe programmers and I do
LOVE the tool. It would just be a smoother experience if the above worked
or were in place. I do also have to add that I love all of the new widgets
and games!!! Haven't had time to explore them all, but I will soon and I'll
let you know more when I do. BTW are you sharing these email threads with
Adobe? Maybe we should put this online, what do you think?

Pictures are not visable after publishing

Pictures are visable in preview but not after publishing on 2 slides. These slides are set up the same in the timeline as others that are visable. What am I doing wrong?

Yes thanks for your help. In Properties box by visible was checked and the image was stacked correctly and sync was for the duration of the slide but the Fade in and out option was selected and the time settings were identical. So basically the fade in at 0.5 sec was cancelled out by the fade out o.5 sec or set at the same time. Thanks again for your help.

HTML Redirect is working in muse but not after publishing... HELP!

I am setting up a "Coupon code" for a website I work on. I have set up a basic HTML Redirect box. It works properly in Muse but after publish it does not work correctly anymore. I understand the "password/coupon code" is available to find in the page code, and that's OK, thats the way i designed it. Don't think so, no, but don't put it in the middle of something, if you know what I mean. The beginning or end would be best.

Well if you can do it without editing the js (move the content) then you won't have to keep re-editing after each publish.

Titles/Captions in Dutch remain in "Preview", but disappear (become defaults in English) after "Publish to Devices".

In my project all (sub)titles and captions (in Dutch) remain in "Preview", but disappear (become defaults in English) after "Publish for Devices".
How can I solve this?

Cache geleegd, zonder dat er een project was geopend. CP vervolgens afgesloten.
Daarna in de map Utils de batch-file CleanPreferencesWin.bat gestart. Vervolgens CP weer gestart.
Nieuw project gemaakt met het volgende resultaat, zie afbeeldingen van achtereenvolgens:
1) de Slide
2) de Preview
3) het gepubliceerde project (Index.html)
Ik heb wel voor hetere vuren gestaan en ben nog te jong om er gek van te worden, maar dit is volgens mij out of my hands...

Blank slide after import

After publishing a .CP file, I noticed I had left out a
PowerPoint slide. I went back to the .CP file and imported the
slide in question, but after the import process is complete, the
imported slide is blank. In my troubleshooting of the problem, I've
discovered that if I try to import slides from other .CP files into
this problem movie, only one slide appears and that file is blank.
If I create a new movie, I can import all of the slides from the
movie that has the problem.
Any ideas?

As I said, I'm new to Captivate -- just a few hours'
experience with this particular tool.
My company is starting to create e-learning courses and one
of the trainers created a 3-slide template for us to use. The first
slide was a splash screen and the next two were created from
PowerPoint slides using the company's template. He imported these
three slides into Captivate and made a template there. That was the
template I downloaded into Captivate.
Then when I created additional slides using PowerPoint and
tried to import them between his slides #2 and 3, the slide content
only appeared in the thumbnails.
When I clicked on that "ppt.png" line in the Thumbnail view,
I noticed that the entire slide was selected. That's what gave me
the idea that the PowerPoint template had somehow been imported as
a graphic. Even when I imported slides with no template, the same
thing happened if they were placed after slide #2. (What can I say
-- beginner's luck, I guess.)

Embedded swf file doesn't work after publishing

I am creating a lecture slides with embedded flashed swf which is created with AS3 including animation. It works well inside Powerpoint, butitdoen't work after publishing and running with web browser. My powerpoint version is 2007 and Adobe presenter is 7.07. I already look for soltutions by searching but I can't find one.

Thank Shubhi. I have found out the key problem of not running when embedding a flash into Adobe Presenter is that the Main class must be inherited MovieClip not Sprite as I created it before. Now it works perfectly for flash versions created from both Adobe Flash Pro. CS5.5 (11) and CS4 (10).
