Capacitive keys are brighter than normal after Den...

I have seen this issue posted several times on the WPC forums. Is there any solution.
Below is a copy and paste from their fourms.
Hey fellas. Just received the Long awaited denim update, with the flagship perks of course. But there something else im noticing. The capacitive keys at the bottom are much brighter than before denim. Now it maybe something in my eyes, or I just never noticed how bright they were...but I'm sure that before denim, the lights weren't that noticeable.Which is pretty distracting to be honest, cuz it doesn't help you to focus well on the screen. Anyone else feeling this? Any solution?
My ATT 1520 has this issue.

funny you bring this up. my 1520 is seemingly the same as well.
noticed that I could see the light where the buttons are located through the back of the red case in the dark last night.
I cannot see that there is anything we can do about it, and am not sure what or why it has even come up.

  • HT3964 Backlit keyboard: some keys are brighter than others. Can this be fixed?

I spilled a small amount of liquid on the key board, but I quickly dried it and everything works fine except the keyboard. Some keys are brighter than others, what should I do?

Hope that it is the only problem that you will have with your MBP.  Liquids have a habit of quickly migrating and you may or may not have gotten it all.  I would take it to an Apple genius bar and have them check it out.  That does not mean that your MBP will not suffer a premature death.
As far as the keyboard is concerned, pose that question to the genius bar technician.. I suspect you will be told that the only way to rectify the problem is to install a new one.

  • Images in CS4 are Brighter than LR 2.4

I'm using both CS4 and Lightroom 2.4 on a Mac with an external (calibrated) monitor. Images opened in CS4 are significantly brighter than the same ones in Lightroom. What could cause this?
    Thanks

There is a bug in CS4 that causes PS to use the wrong profile on external displays in certain circumstances. You can test whether this is the problem by disabling the OpenGL acceleration. To do this, go to Preferences->performance and disable the openGL checkbox. If this fixes it, check in the advanced checkbox whether color matching is enabled and if not, enable it and reenable openGL acceleration. This bug doesn't always show up and for some reason it has not been fixed yet even though Adobe is well aware of it.
Lastly, you indeed need to calibrate both your screens with a calibrator, but you already knew that I am sure. LUT based profiles have some minor issues (most notably shadow posterization) in Lightroom as the other poster noted but you are unlikely to notice it.

  • New 17 Macbook Pro 5 key is brighter than all the others

Why? Why? Why? I do alot of work in low light and this key is like a homing beacon. My OCD kicks in and this key drives me nuts. I went back to the Apple store where I purchased this and checked the other display models. The same issue, BUT only with the 17's not the 15's or 13's. The 15's look perfect as they should.
What happened. I've never had this issue with my other macbook's. What changed on the 17?
Can this be fixed or do I need to switch to the 15 or just deal with it.

I just bought a used MBP 17 and its 5 key was much brighter than the others. I popped off the 5 key, trimmed a small piece of paper from the recycle bin, dabbed it with a black marker, and laid it into the top left corner of the hole where there was an obviously brighter zone of light shining from below. Replaced the key, now its just about the same as its neighbors and the physical keystroke isn't affected by the presence of the paper sliver.

  • Satellite A215 - Fn key are no longer available after Vista reinstall

    Hi all,not.
I recently re-installed Vista on my laptop and I noticed that the Function key options are no longer available for Brightness adjustments, Computer lock and such likes. If anyone has a direct link to the drivers for this that would be great, I thought i had them all from the Toshiba ebsite but apparently not.
Also, The scroll functin is not working on my touchpad. I have downloaded the latest synaptics drivers and installed them to no avail...Any help on that would also be appreciated.
I cehcked the mouse options and those seem to be good. there is no "touchpad" options in Control panel however...maybe something there?
    Thanks in advance!
    Rj

    Hi
The A215 is a US notebook. I know this due to the 5 at the and of the model number So you should use the Toshiba US driver page to get the right Vista drivers.
Anyway the FN buttons are controlled by Toshiba Flashcards Utility. This tool sis a part of the Toshiba Vista Value Added package and I think you should reinstall this tool.
I dont know why you touchpad scroll function does not work as it should maybe the settings are not enabled or something likes that
Ive got an A210. Its a European model and equivalent to A215
I can change the touchpad settings here:
Control panel -> Mouse -> last tab (device settings ?:| ) -> settings button
Here new window should open and you could change the settings
    Cheers

  • Appleworks' pictures are brighter than Pages'

Trying to future-proof all my old Appleworks .cwk documents, I open them in Pages and save them as Pages documents.
    Fine.
Except that the pictures within the old Appleworks documents are much better than the same in Pages - deeper, truer and more vivid colours.
I can successfully Edit/Copy a picture in Appleworks and then Paste it over the 'same' picture in the Pages document and so restore the former glory.
But I've lots of documents with lots of pictures within them - historical portraits etc.
Why are the Pages' pictures so disappointingly flat?
And is there any way to have them all of the same quality as those of Appleworks without Copy/Pasting across each one individually?
On advice from there I've moved this question from the Appleworks forum. Thanks Barry.

That's somewhat unusual. If you want to future-proof your documents, you should preferably save them in a format that has a high probability of being readable in 15-20 years' time, e.g. Word doc, Open document or PDF. We have no idea for how long the present version of Pages documents will be readable.

  • Macs are brighter than PC's is it the monitor or software doing this?

    Hi all,
I'm not very experienced with Macs and have worked on PC's for a good 10 years. I've been told than Macs display images slightly lighter than PCs, can someone explain to me why this is. Is it software or hardware related?
As I am looking to buy a 24inch Mac display to use on my PC to replace my 24inch Dell.
    Any help would be great

    It's the gamma; Macs have a 1.8 and PCs have a 2.2.
Macs now have 2.2 to reduce this discrepancy between platforms. And many of us have already switched to this years ago when it was not Apple's default. This is a system setting, not something you are stuck with when you buy a computer.

There is a reason why most of the graphic community uses Macs.
That is a bit of hogwash. A default gamma setting has nothing to do with making a computer any more ideal for a graphic artist. If you understand color management, you see the diminishing relevance of your operating system's gamma setting.

  • My Macbook air 2011, one line of key board (a to l) do not respond, but when an external keyboard is hooked up these keys starts functioning as normal, after disconnecting the external key board (from the USB) the problem comes back...Please help. Thank y

My Macbook air 2011- key board (a-l) do not respond, but when you hook up an external key board to the usb these keys on the computer also starts functioning as normal and when you disconnect the external key, these keys stops functioning...?

    Perform SMC reset
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • Why are the compiled SWF colors brighter than in Flash CC while programming

Just a quick question, when I open the SWF with FlashPlayer the colors are brighter than in Flash CC while programming, why is that?
Left part is in Flash CC right side is the compiled SWF opened with FlashPlayer.

Flash uses the sRGB color space. If your original art was created using a different color space then the colors will look shifted.

  • A few keys are not working

A few keys were a sticky so when I would press it would give a sticky effect.
So I got a tissue and wet it and then applied it onto those keys. Then those keys weren't sticky anymore.
But soon a few of those keys stopped working. These keys are "brightness up", "2", "w", "s".
So I have left it out in the for a little while, so any water can evaporate.
    PLEASE HELP ME.
Are there any solutions or if repair is required how much will it cost?

    Thanks for replying (thorvsphoenix)
The windex was sprayed on the cloth, not the keyboard. And only one or two pumps on a hand towel. No liquid seeped between the keys the towel was barely damp. You are saying the ammonia gas created the problem?
I think It was more an issue of multiple keys being depressed at the same time that screwed up the configuration. That is why I need to "reboot" the keyboard.

  • .movs are much brighter than Self contained export after Compression

Hey there, I have a very interesting problem....
My .movs after using compressor are much brighter than the original self contained file from FCP.
    My workflow is as follows
    1. I make one export from final cut 6 as a self contained pro res movie file
    2. I open the self contained file in compressor and add a h264 setting for both a .mov and a wmv
After the encoding process is done my wmv is very close to the original sequence in FCP, however my .mov is much brighter
I have tried adjusting the brightness and contrast within Compressor settings, but I find I' m losing color. The original footage is HDV and we are capturing it as Pro Res.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Or any suggestions?

After a day of tedious test work I have discovered a few things....
There is a display setting within QT preferences that says 'Enable FCP' this corrects the situation as WMV and .MOVS use different color settings and therefore a discrepancy in gamma. However this is only a solution within that computer, as it is merely a display option.
There is a gamma filter within compressor that gives us the best results for a blanket compressor setting that allows us change all .movs that go to our clients.
This does not give identical results between WMV and MOV but a very close comparison.
Will they ever be identical? or is it a fundamental difference between codecs and platforms?

When i try to use my ipod it looks like the brightness was turned wayyyyy down. Like more than normal. I cant see anything. How do i fix it?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

In general theory, one now has the Edit button for their posts, until someone/anyone Replies to it. I've had Edit available for weeks, as opposed to the old forum's ~ 30 mins.
That, however, is in theory. I've posted, and immediately seen something that needed editing, only to find NO Replies, yet the Edit button is no longer available, only seconds later. Still, in that same thread, I'd have the Edit button from older posts, to which there had also been no Replies even after several days/weeks. Found one that had to be over a month old, and Edit was still there.
Do not know the why/how of this behavior. At first, I thought that maybe there WAS a Reply, that "ate" my Edit button, but had not Refreshed on my screen. Refresh still showed no Replies, just no Edit either. In those cases, I just Reply and mention the [Edit].
Also, it seems that the buttons get very scrambled at times, and Refresh does not always clear that up. I end up clicking where I "think" the right button should be and hope for the best. Seems that when the buttons do bunch up they can appear at random around the page, often three atop one another, and maybe one way the heck out in left-field.
While I'm on a role, it would be nice to be able to switch between Flattened and Threaded Views on the fly. Each has a use, and having to go to Options and then come back down to the thread is a very slow process. Jive is probably incapable of this, but I can dream.
