Capacity availability in capacity header screen of work center

hi all
In capacity header under Standard avalaible capacity we have start time ,Finish time and Break time and Number of individual capacity . I have definesShift sequence and grouping and assign it in this view.
but My questionis Standard available capacity maintaines per day or per shift.?
what about individual capacity (i.e Number fo machines avalable per shif . I defined the avalable capacity i.e operating time 7 hours. per shift then in CMO3 t-code Available capacity should be 21 hours per day but it is showing only 7 hours .Why it is
for examlpe
Start time 06.00
Finish time 14.00
Break time 01.00
no .of in capacity 01
so in CMO3 t-code Available capacity should be 21 hours per day

If you are running three shifts ,please maintain the data as given belwo
start :00:00:00
End:23:59:59
Break :03:00:00 ( 1 Hour per shift so 3 hrs for 3 shifts)
No.of individual capacity :1
System will understand that it is round the clock operation with total three hour brak and you will get 21 hour per capacity

Im little confused with the capacity header in work center. In the capacity header there is one place to give start time, end time, length of break and number of individual capacity. And in grouping key i can define the shift and shift sequence. So if im maintaining both of these ( standard avilable capacity and grouping key), which will be considered to calaculate avilable capacity?

BAPI for reading capacity of a workplace/work center?

Hi,
I'm looking for a BAPI/RFC using SAP MII to read the capacity of a workplace/work center in a given time period (eg. one or more days/weeks/...). I would like to use the import parameters plant ( WERKS ), date from, date to, workplace/work center (eg. CRHD-ARBPL ) and capacity category (eg. KAKO-KAPAR ). As output I would like to get a list of (planed/used) capacities as the working time for the given time period at the specified workplace/work center.
In theory the BAPI CBP_EXC_WC_CAPACITY_REQUEST nearly does what I want. The only drawback is, that it outputs the "wrong" time.
Let me give an example: The work center uses at a given day a capacity from 6 to 22 clock, including one hour break. This gives us a working time of 15 hours for this workplace and day. And "15h" is the time I need. But as there are working 5 worker at this work center the BAPI CBP_EXC_WC_CAPACITY_REQUEST returns 75 hours (which is 5 * 15). But the result "75" is useless for me as long as I don't additonal get the number of workers.
I've searched in our SAP system and in this forum, but wasn't able to find another BAPI that gives me the correct time. As an alternative I would need another BAPI to get me the number of workers for a workplace/work center at a given time. But I also was out of luck finding one.

I have looked to both functions before. Beside that they are both not remote enabled (which is not such a big problem as I could copy them or build a custom BAPI around them) I'm not quite sure how they could solve my problem.
If I got it right, I would first use CR_CAPACITIES_OF_WORKCENTER to get the KAPID and using it as input for CLOI_WC_CAPACITY_READ. But I have problems to understand the output of CLOI_WC_CAPACITY_READ. The data type of the capacity is a float ( FLTP ) and the number seems to be to big, eg. 9.800000000000000E+01= 98h for one day.
Could you try to explain your solution once again?

In CM01 transaction Menu click on Settings -> General;
In the data area Interval to be evaluated start field will be blank by default. you can enter in -value so that start date would go in past.
click on Time periods button . check Period of database selection From date. You can get details only from the date for the Overall profile attached.
if this has not solved your purpose, you have to change OverallProfile.
Planning -> Profiles -> Overall Profiles.
Select another Overall profile.

Pooled Capacity Not updating in Work center

Capacity Utilisation rate = Actual Capacity / Theoritical Capacity
Theoritical Capacity= Shift period * No. of machines available
= 8 hrs * 2 = 16 hrs
Actual Capacity value depends on how the company decides it. Say if the break 30 mins has to be considered, then the actual capacity will be 15 hrs for 2 capacities and hence,
Capacity Utilisation rate = 15 / 16 = 93.8%
So, decide the utilisation rate based on the Company's requiremnt.
Hope the above gives you an idea.

2. What would be the start time and end time in maintenance work center, for 24 hrs open manufacturing industry with 3 shifts???

Hello Deepak,
There is no relation between capacity planner grp & Maintenance planner group...These are 2 different things..
Now the work centers can be defined for the technicians if HR module is not implemented...
To perform the capacity planning for the technicians, there daily working hrs must be maintained in the system..Though the maintenance is working for 24 hrs,Single technician cannot work for entire 24 hrs..

Different activity type for different capacity category in a work center

Hello,
Multiple capacity categories can be created in a work center like
Engineer
Sr. Engineer
Architect
Rates for all of them will be different (obviously) , however we can only have 1 activity type as default in a work center . We intend to 'HR assignment' corresponding to each capacity category . how can we have multiple activity type for different capacities (Engineer , architect etc).

Dyanmic work center selection in production order based on material

Hi ALL,
We’ve a business requirement to support the following functionality.
There are four similar type of milling machines say MILL1 MILL2, MILL3, MILL4, we create a single work center called MILLMC by specifying total capacity of four milling machines in the capacity header screen of work center with 4 individual capacities. And we mention work center MILLMC in the operation of routings for respective materials.
However, during production order creation, there needs to be provision for detailed planning of work centers as per the following requirements
In production order, some operations can be performed on any one of the machines MILL1 MILL2, MILL3, MILL4, so provision needs to be there to enter exact machine on which it is performed in the production order operation after the details are copied from respective routing during production order creation.
In production order, some operations can be performed on only MILL3, so system should select only MILL3 in the respective operation of the production order
In production order, some operations can be performed on either MILL1 or MILL2 or MILL4 and not on MILL3, so system should not select MILL3 in the respective operation of the production order.
Please provide your valuable feedback to support the above requirements.

Work Center (No. of indiv. cap)

Hi,
I have Assembly Work center for details are as follows,
Start                         06:30:00
Finish                       23:30:00          Capacity utilization 100
Length of breaks     01:00:00           No. of indiv. cap.   2
Operating time          16.00             Capacity             32.00        H
Here available capacity is shown as 16 Hours.
But in actual there are two shift 06.30 to 15.00 with 1 person and second 15.00 to 23.30 with 1 person
So available capacity should be 8 Hours as two person are working in two shift but system shows that two person are working for 16 Hours hence available capacity as 32 hours which is wrong.
Please let me know how we can show available hours as 8 in this case withoout changing utilization,no of ind.

Dear Lalit,
1.In the capacity header of that work center,click on intervals and shift and click on interval by mentioning the valid from and to
date and allocate the shift sequence(first shift starting from 06:30:00 and ending at 15:00:00) and the second shift starting at
15:00:00 and ending at 23:30:00(assuming the length of brak for each shift has also been properly defined).
In the capacity header page also mention the active version as 01(for which you have defined the shifts).
2.Now in CM01,for the same work center in the top settings->General->mention the capacity version as 01 and check the
results.

Work Center Shift Definition

Hi PP Expert,
I have requirement for this shift :
Shift 1 : 08.00 to 17.00
Shift 2 : 20.00 to 04.00 next day
How do you define it in SAP ?
Should i create that like this ?
Shift 1 : 00.00 to 04.00
Shift 2 : 08.00 to 17.00
Shift 3 : 20.00 to 24.00
Is it normally maintain like that or is there any way to create in two shift definition?

Dear Arman,
During shift definition generally the previous shift end time will be taken as the next shift start time,but in your case the first shift
starts at 08:00 and ends at 17:00.
The second shift is starting at 20:00(Night 8'o clock) and ending at 04:00 in the morning.How do you treat the time between 17:00
to 20:00?
Check out in this way,In OP4A,create the grouping logic->shift defiition->
S1     first shift     01.08.2011     31.12.9999     08:00:00     17:00:00     9.00
S2     second shift     01.08.2011     31.12.9999     20:00:00     04:00:00     8.00
Then under Shift Sequence,
2S     1     2 shift sequence     S1     S1     S1     S1     S1     S1
2S     2                                S2     S2     S2     S2     S2     S2
Assign this in the work center capacity header,by definish the shift start as 08:00:00 and end time as 04:00:00 by mentioning the
duration of break,then in the grouping mention the respective shift grouping,in the intervals and shifts mention the start date and
end date and select the shift sequence.
Now in CM01 accordingly you will be able to see the available capacity,assuming you have not defined any break timings either in
the shift sequence or else in the capacity header in the work center.
Check and revert back with your queries.

Work Center Daily Capacity

We have a location changing to a plant maintenance schedule where the number of hours worked and the number of available workers will vary each day of the week, however each day of the week will be the same one week to the next, ie., all Mondays will be the same, all Tuesdays will be the same and so forth. Can the maintenance work centers be configured with unique daily capacities?

Yes, it can be configured. You should be able to set the same up from inside the capacity header by creating a new interval and or shifts.
Choose the "change interval and shift" push button from the capacity header screen of the work center.Choose Insert new interval from here and insert a date range, for ex starting from Monday of next week till 12/31/9999 or appropriate and make sure to choose length of cycle to be 7 days, and then choose enter. 7 more line entries will be inserted , and for each entry you can specify the start time, end time, utilization factor and number of capacities.

Varying Maintenance Work Center Capacity by Days of the Week

I had submiited a question a month or so ago about varying the capacity of a maintenance work center depending on the day of the week. I got an answer and it worked.
We've set up another work center (in staging) for the same scenario (the work center is half staffed on Fridays). Monday through Thursday the capacity is 36 hours, Friday the capacity is 18 hours, the validity from date is 04/05/2010. When we use CM34 to do some scheduling though, the capacity shown is 40 hours a day, Monday through Friday which is what the capacity was set up for prior to the validity from date. It's also the same capacity as shown in the 'Standard Available Capacity' section.
I looked back at the work center I had modified previously and it's showing the same thing. It's like it's ignoring the validity dates.
Any ideas?

I know for sure that this is reflected in the standard profile for Capacity Availability check as part of release of the order (SAPSFCG013). The Availability for the week does show the capacity for the interval dates of the week and not the standard available capacity.
I haven't checked this on CM24 and if the standard profiles don't reflect the change then the profile probably needs to be changed.I need to look into it to make sure. In the meantime if you aren't able to resolve the same, i would suggest to raise a note and see where that leads you.

Capacity evaluation for internal and external workers in one work center

Hi ,
Normally in all Industries you have internal manpower to execute work. Say I have a work center named "Mechanical" , I will have 5 people working 8 Hrs for 5 days in a week. We usually configure this in capacity tab of work center for capacity category "002-Labour". In scheduling tab we configure sceduling data for a capacity category "002-labour"
In many industries , depending on load, many time, external labours are hired to give assistance to internal workers. Technically it is like adding one more capacity category "PER-Person" and adding number external labours there and in scheduling tab adding required configuration for "PER" capacity category
Total capacity for any given day would be available capacity in capacity category -002 + available capacity in PER capacity category.
However in scheduling Tab , scheduling basis can be either 002/PER.
How can we add more scheduling basis to refer to more than one capacity category ?
Any other alternative to above problem statement?

let us say, you have a work "Pump repair" which is done partly by internal workers say 2 people and 1 external labour. Let us assume the number of people in 002-labour is 2 (internal ) and capacity in capacity category (PER) which is external work center is 3 (Total 5 ).
Now if I I leave scheduling basis as blank, then system will calculate scheduling based on 002 capacity category as it is "Major" . But I want system to consider both 002 and +PER .
You are suggesting two line items "Pump Repair internal" and give 2 numbers and duration as 8 control key PM01 . Create another operation "Pump repair External" use control key PM02 (where in scheduling is enabled) where 1 number - 8 Hrs duration is maintained with another work center.
If I maintain 2 different work centers and two different operations, this will work. But for customer this is just one work and capacity evaluation should be based on capacity category 002 and PER .
How to solve this by maintaining one work center , two capacity categories in same work center and maintaining one control key PM01 in operation?
