Capacity Bar on iTunes

Up until R2.1 and R8.xx iTunes, when I connected my 3G into my MBPro and iTunes, I would be able to see the amount of Audio, Video, Photos, etc. space I've taken up on my iPhone... Now, I consistently see nothing showing up on the Capacity Bar.
Anyone else notice this and if so, any resolve to this?
Thanks

Over the course of time (R2.0, R2.0.1, R2.0.2 & R2.1) when I have had to Restore and Backup my iPhone, I have noticed certain app's are not being backed-up. Example: my stock entries; weather in various cities, clock and city locations & secondary mail account I have.
Each and every time I do a restore and backup, I consistently have to re-enter this information.
Any fix for this?
Thanks

You can only sync with one computer. I would backup to one computer and then restore from backup.

  • The capacity bar in iTunes is showing 4.7 GB being used up by "Other"

I looked through my apps and don't see anything such as video/music downloads in other apps that would be causing this. I assume this is well above what the "Other" is usually at. Can anyone think of any solutions to see what this "Other" space is and to get rid of it? I have a 32 GB iPad 2, not jailbroken.

Could be. Have you added back all your apps yet? Perhaps there is data belonging to one of those sitting in limbo on the device. I'd backup the device to iTunes and transfer any purchases first, then restore the backup immediately afterwards.
Restoring should resolve any issues, but you need to make sure that you've got everything that isn't included in a device backup stored in your library before you start. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for more details.

  • ITunes 11.3 capacity bar vs. reality on iPhone 5.

Having recently deleted all music on my iPhone 5, when that device is selected in the Source List, the color-coded capacity bar in iTunes 11.3 is showing a sliver of blue,  representing 9 songs, 145.2 MB, still on the phone.  Whatever the 9 songs are, they don't appear in iTunes when iPhone->Music is selected, nor when I pull up the Music App on the phone, nor under Settings-->General-->Usage, which shows "No Data" in Music App.
I have resetting the iPhone, Syncing music, adding a few tracks, then wiping the phone again.  These phantom songs persist.
This isn't causing any great harm, but, I'd really like to know what might be going on.
    Anyone?
    Thanks.

  • My itunes capacity bar is nearly full but ipod empty

I have just updated to Itunes 8 and then when i plugged my ipod touch in to update it the capacity bar in itunes has turned all orange and has also wiped all the songs from my touch. A message then appears saying there is not enough space to sync (even though ipod is empty).
Have tried to sync manually to no avail and have also reset the ipod.
Any ideas how i can fix this problem?

  • Cleaning Out "Other" in the Capacity Bar

I'vre here that the "Other" in the Capacity Bar in Itunes contains e-mails, calendar appointments, etc.  Is there a way to clrean this out and get some of
the memory back?  I donm't store e-mails, but I notice that calendar appointments from last year are still in the calendar.  Any advice would be appreciated.

First Try a Restore from Backup... But... if the Large Other Persists, that is an Indicator of Corrupt Data in the Backup... Then a Restore as New is the way to go...

  • Incorrect Video Capacity shown in iTunes (for iPhone)

I have the iPhone 3G (16GB). On the capacity bar in iTunes, it says that I have almost 4GB of video stored on my iPhone, when I actually have no videos on my iPhone. I have heard this is a problem others have experienced also, but I could not find an answer when searching through the other posts.
When I open my iPod (on my iPhone), and go to the video section, old rental movie videos (that have expired and are not longer available) pop up on my iphone screen VERY briefly and immediately disappear. They do not show up in my itunes library and should not be on my iphone.
Is there a way to fix this glitch? I'd rather not have to 'manually manage' all the music/video on my iphone because that would be a hassle (or am I wrong?).
What is the best way to go about fixing this? It's not really causing a big problem now, because I still have more capacity. But, I'm afraid that if I continue to rent videos that I will no longer have extra capacity available....
    Thanks for any help!

  • Ipod/iphone capacity bar?

How do you know when ur selecting too much music for ur iphone or ipod?
Why does the capacity bar in itunes only change after you sync, rather than changing when i make changes in my selections, so i can see how much i can fit. annoying. . Am i missing something??

    Hello rickfrommahomet,
Based on your post it seems you would like to know how to manage the storage of your device. I have linked to an article you may find helpful:

  • Capacity bar reports phantom storage issue

I have relatively little on my new iPad Air. About 10 video clips of a few minutes each, 208Mb photos, nearly 1Gb Apps, 1Gb Other (?). So I started transferring music, with it set to transfer only selected music. I selected 3 albums that came to about 260Mb.
The capacity bar reports various limits over capacity, but is determined that Audio is 11.43Gb/1058 songs (as compared to the forty or so songs I was trying to transfer).
I restored it. Now the iPad itself appears to believe it has no audio at all (which was the desired option to start afresh without confusing it), but the capacity bar in iTunes still reports 11.43Gb/1058 songs. It has never had 1058 songs on it at all. I never even set it to have all the music I'd had on my iPod Classic.
iTunes refuses to transfer anything to the iPad because of this phantom capacity issue.
I would really like to know what's happening, and more to the point, how to stop it happening.

No - I have not tried removing all of them, but I think I am leaning in another direction as the capacity bar DID work correctly at one time, also when I had other devices attached. I mean, it simply could be that I removed iPod too quickly from my PC (or wouldn't that be possible). I am nosing around in the attributes of the folders contained in iPod - should any of them be read only? Like the Contacts folder? Should I change the attributes? Would a reset (not a restore) help?

  • Capacity Bar Incorrect

Hi everyone. For some reason my capacity bar in iTunes displays that my iPhone contains 1 photo at 4kb. I do not have it set to sync with any folders, I have no pictures in the camera roll, and no contacts have a picture assigned to them. I can't imagine any other things that would be counted as a "picture". Why does it not display 0? I have restored it multiple times aswell and still displays the false info. Any ideas?

Complete wips of the iPhone fixed it.

  • Iphone capacity bar shows almost full.

    Hi,
I just plugged in my iphone and noticed that the capacity bar in itunes showing 12.8G of "others", I know I have songs, movies, pictures and books, but noting besides those and I used to have 22G of empty unusable space, so how can I check what those 12.8 G are and how can I remove them.
I haven't added any new apps or anything since my last sync.

Just turned off and back on and my "Others" shows 0.56G, which isn't a huge thing.
I wanted to delete my post, but what's done is done

I am not sure that corrupt data is always the reason. I have experienced a few times that my 13GB green stripe of apps with a few MB of orange "other" has become a couple of gigs of green apps with 10 gigs of orange "other" or other similar incorrect number. It disappears either the next time the iPhone is plugged in or after a normal sync. Similarly I have had "free space" readings that are suddenly and inexplicably as much as a gig different than it should be. This also happens during syncing when it will commonly show an aberrant "free space" number which goes back to normal after the sync.
I suspect that iOS sometimes struggles with interpreting space usage and misreads are then lumped with other readings such as "other" or free space. Interestingly, this bug only seems to affect the green, orange and "free space" bars and music, video, and photos are not affected or if so much more rarely.
I would simply ignore the glitch in the space used bar unless usage problems crop up.

  • ITunes Capacity Bar - iPhone 4

In the capacity bar on the bottom of the iTunes phone summary tab, my bar reads:
    Audio - 14.5 GB
    Photos - .49 GB
    Apps - 2.8 GB
    Other - .67 GB
    Free - 10.8 GB
I am concerned with the category labeled "Other." Seems awfully high. What is it, and how can I get rid of it if not pertinent?
    Thanks in advance!

It could be the OS, contacts, favorites, notes, calendar, settings, etc.
It does no seem very high to me. .4 - .8GB seems quite normal. I think you have nothing to be concerned with.

  • Most of my music library disappeared upon upgrading iTunes; it shows on the capacity bar but not in the iphone

How do I restore music, audiobooks and podcasts to my iTunes?  only 2 albums remain, 2 songs, 2 artists, no books, no podcasts.  and yet the capacity bar shows that all the music is still there.  and they are all still on my computer.  repeated attempts to sync individual categories (music, audiobooks, podcasts) have not worked.  Please advise!  many thanks in advace.

    Hello davej65,
Unfortunately adding music from external drives should not be possible, because it is not supported.
