Capacity Bar VS Video Library

According to my iTunes capacity bar, I have 1.17GB of Video on my iPhone. BUT, according to the Video Tab in my iTunes library, I have NO video on my iPhone. Why is that and how can it be fixed?
I tried to post a screen shot with this question, but the site won't let me.
Thanks,
Colleen

  • Most of my music library disappeared upon upgrading iTunes; it shows on the capacity bar but not in the iphone

    How do I restore music, audiobooks and podcasts to my iTunes?  only 2 albums remain, 2 songs, 2 artists, no books, no podcasts.  and yet the capacity bar shows that all the music is still there.  and they are all still on my computer.  repeated attempts to sync individual categories (music, audiobooks, podcasts) have not worked.  Please advise!  many thanks in advace.

    Hello davej65,
    Unfortunately adding music from external drives should not be possible, because it is not supported.

  • "other" in capacity bar

    i had a resolve to this same issue not long ago, however, didn't see the exact resolve steps...to rid of the 'other' in the capacity bar when iphone is connected, do you click restore? if so, does it back up all of the pictures on the camera that have been taken including video?

    The "other" section is kind of dynamic and weird I have noticed. I recently updated to iTunes7 and then synced my 80GB iPod to it putting the whole library on it, a BUNCH of photos, a few videos and that is about it. When done it listed about 1GB of other, which wasn't real, since I don't have artwork or anything in disk mode.
    But then after playing it for a day or two and resyncing it a few times, the other has now dropped to a couple hundred megabytes. So perhaps a lot of cache and temp files get stashed here during normal use and many of us notice is the FIRST time we sync a huge amount of data to the iPod because a HUGE amount of cache and temp files are written which then later shrink.
    Or so my theory goes,

  • I'm using Windows 8.  I have 2 folders in my videos library - movies and personal videos.  When I try to import a movie into iTunes, it puts it in the Home Video section and if I import a personal video, it puts it into the home video section.  what up?

    Im using Win8.  I originally had all my ripped movies in a movie folder listed in the videos library.  This imported into iTunes movies with no issue.  I later added a second folder t my library - personal videos where i put all my home videos.  I was able to import this into iTunes and it showed up in "Home Movies" - very cool and exactly what I wanted.  Now, if I add a new ripped movie and put it in my movie librairy and try to import it into iTunes, it places it in Home Movies.  And if I put a new personal video, it will also import into iTunes under 'Home Video?.  What is going on here??  Any help would be greatly appreciated - it seems like this is a bug in iTunes 11.

    I thank you for the response.  Apple does some assinine things sometimes and this is one of them.  Ask the planet the difference between a movie and a home video and with the exception of Apple, you'd get 100% consenus on the what difference is.  A home video is something that I shoot, like my kids birthday party.  A movie is something I urchased either via download or a DVD that I ripped.  Unbelievable!   The fact that Apple has chosen not to distinguish based upon which folder I tell it is Movies and which folder is Home Videos is really hard to fathom - sounds like something Windows would do. I find it funny that in my iTunes movies sub-section of the movies section, the movie icons have a cloud icon in upper right corner to distinguish it as bought from Apple iTunes versus no cloud icon for movies that I have ripped - so the distintion was already made and clearly visible.  Now - everything just defaults to "home videos" if I try to import a new ripped DVD - why even bother to have this distinction on the iTunes bar?  WOW!
    As for your direction, I do not understand what you are telling me - what Media Kind and what Options tab are you referring to?  I see no Options tab in iTunes.  Right licking on the movie icon does not yield media kind or options as well.  Gping to the source file does not yield these options either.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Adobe Video Library no longer accessible

    I'm using CS3 Design Premium, and after I recently upgraded to Mac OS 10.5.5 on my Mac Pro, I was no longer able to access the Adobe Video Library/Lynda.com training videos. I haven't tried it from other CS3 apps, but from InDesign when I click on Help, go to a topic, and click on a video link, it comes up and the progress bar appears to "progress," but nothing happens when I go to actually play it. I can't even click on the "background" window showing all the applications and lists of videos for each one. That becomes all grayed out.
    Does anyone have an idea of what might be happening and how to fix the situation?? I'd appreciate any suggestions.
    Terry

    Because Adobe uses Flash technology for all its videos, I'd reinstall the Flash Player. Here's a link to the latest version:

  • How do I see what "Other" is in the capacity bar?

    Under music in my device, the capacity bar shows that Other has 4GB of space used. What does Other encompass and why is it taking up so much space. This is a 8GB Ipod Nano. Thanks!

    Other can be Album Artwork, Notes, Contacts, Firmware etc. or files that are on there if you are using the iPod as a removable storage device. If you feel that Other is being incorrectly reported then try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists choose no and it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

  • What exactly is "other" in the AppleTV capacity bar

    Hi all,
    If I click on the AppleTV device in itunes, I notice it has the following categories in the capacity bar:
    * video
    * audio
    * photos
    * other
    * free space
    What exactly is included in the "other" category? I assume that podcasts may be in there. The reason I ask is that my "other" category seems to be growing (currently 4.56Gb out of 32.85Gb capacity, which is significant). Is there anything I can do to control the size of this?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Likely the case. You have to remember podcasts are provided by 3rd parties and by there very nature some podcasts are amateur productions or are not necessarily aimed at itunes specifically. There is a chance that some podcasts, whilst playing just fine, don't actually meet the specs from the tv prospective and as such even when completely downloaded don't properly get moved to the appropriate category.
    I've just downloaded the 'Hidden Universe' podcasts, I watched the 'other' category increase in size as more of the podcast downloaded, once complete the 'other' reset to its original value and 'video' increased appropriately.

  • Audio Capacity Bar showing full, but Free Space says 52.30 still...

    Kind of hard to explain, but in the Summary View of mu iPod, the Audio Capacity says 1,712,986,856 then some garbled characters, then the Vido says 8.45 GB, photos 196.3 MB and again, free space is at 51.30 (it's an 80 GB video). The bar is all blue, but the iPod isn't full... Anyone see this before? It doesn't seem to be a problem, makes me nervous though. On that note, is there a way to see the size of the files on in iTunes, more like which is the largest, etc? And also on the iPod? I',m wondering if I could do like a du -ks * sort of command on the iPod and iTunes, see what are the big files, make sure it's all ok. Maybe wasted time... Anyway, any help appreciated.
    JP

    I just upgraded iTunes to Windows version 7.3.1 and the problem still exists for me. In the summary view, the capacity bar at the bottom is solid blue and the Audio data size displays -1,194,043,981.634. However, the number changes when I click on the capacity bar to display the number of audio songs or number of days. I have a screen shot.

  • Dark blue bar in capacity bar?

    Hi there,
    Here's an interesting question. In the capacity bar for my ipod, the blue section obviously represents music, but there is a small section in the bar that is a darker blue than the rest. It started appearing after I accidentally tried to put songs from a CD directly onto the ipod (i.e. without ripping it to the disk first). Is that what that darker blue section actually means, and if so what can I do to get rid of it and free up some space on my ipod? Thanks!

    I think what happens is they show up as a mix, to represent music and video. I got rid of the music videos on my nano, and that portion of the bar dissapeared.

  • 40gb vs 160gb - creating a video library on external hard drive

    I'm considering buying an Apple TV and want to make sure it accomplishes what I want before I do. If so, I'm wondering if I should buy a 40gb version or the 160gb.
    Ultimately, what I'd like to do is put my entire video library onto an external hard drive. I don't want to deal with physical DVDs any longer. I know how to convert my home movie DVDs and get them into iTunes so that isn't an issue (although I know it'll take time).
    I currently have 1 iTunes library that I connect to with my iMac and my MacBook Pro. The library is on an external hard drive. Can I connect an AppleTV to this external harddrive where the existing iTunes library is?
    If this is possible, is the larger 160gb hard drive necessary? My thought is if I keep my iTunes library on an external harddrive, I wouldn't need the larger capacity AppleTV?
    I appreciate input from others that may have done this. Thanks!

    Can I connect an AppleTV to this external harddrive where the existing iTunes library is?
    No. Your TV device is connected either via your wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n network or via your 10/100 base-T wired network. As long as the TV can communicate with iTunes and iTunes knows where your library is located, the data will be sent to the device for viewing. I currently am using a 1 TB LaCie drive for my iTunes library but as I have almost reached full capacity for just my standard definition files, will be switching to a 2 TB as soon as it arrives. The only advantage for having a large internal TV drive is that you can watch your movies with your computer/iTunes turned off. Since my computer is on all day anyway working to convert my video library for use with Front Row/iTunes management of iPhone/iPod/TV files, I have no problem viewing my content exclusively in the "streaming" mode.

  • Capacity Bar "Other"?

    I've looked around in the forum for other people who had similar issues, but the resolutions they found don't apply to my situation. Any help is appreciated.
    When I sync my iPod, the capacity bar shows:
    Audio: 16.70
    Other: 14.77
    Free Space: 24.40
    I don't have album artwork or disk use enabled on the iPod. There are no games, contacts, photos, videos or anything at all except audio. Why do I have an almost equal amount of audio and "other"? What is "other"?
    Thanks.

    Not really answered, but I stopped caring.

  • Why is iTunes not sinking certain music on a playlist to my 4S, also it is not showing splits in capacity bar (music, photos, apps etc.)?

    Hi,
    My iTunes will not sync any new music in my "iPhone Music" playlist to my phone. It has been saying that there was too much capacity but that has corrected itself now.
    Also, iTunes is not splitting the uses on the capacity bar for Music, Apps, Photos etc.
    I can't seem to add any new music to my phone now.
    Can anyone help?
    Ta

    It's telling you there's not enough space *on your 4S*.  The 25GB you refer to is probably that on iCloud, that's different memory than that on your iPhone.  You need to delete video, pictures, apps, or whatever ON THE IPHONE, to make enough room for downloading updates to your apps.

  • Video library problem.

    In my video library it shows all of my songs. When I try to play a video it just shows a still screen of the video and the progress bar. I tried restoring it a few times but that didn't work. What do I do?

    Here's what's happening:
    In my iPod, when I go to "videos," it lists all my files instead of videos. Also, in settings --> about it shows the same amount of videos as songs, when I have no videos on there. I can't even get any videos on there because one, iTunes will not import the file, even though it's a compatible format (I downloaded videos directly from multiple sites where the video was already formatted for the iPod), or two, if it is imported, it says "cannot upload some songs...because the song cannot be played." The song name it gives an an example is the video I am trying to upload.

  • ITunes 7 Capacity Bar

    When iPod is connected and you look at the 'Summary' page there is a multicolored Capacity bar that now displays with Audio, Video, Photos, Other, and Free Space catagories. What the heck is 'Other'? On my iPod, Other takes up considerable space (about 10 gigs). When I look at the iPod as a hard disk, I can't figure out what this could be. I have no real entries in Calendars, Contacts, or Notes folders. Then there are the usual Photos and iPod Control folders with my music, videos and photos. So where is this Other?
    Sandy

    I'm having the same problem. I have a 20GB iPod with over 7GB of "Other". When I enable disk use and look at what is on my iPod I see "Calendars", "Contacts", "Notes" (all of which are more or less empty), and over a dozen folders named with strange characters. I am not able to open these folders.
    Interesting side note: when I select these mystery folders and files, Windows tells me the combined file size is about 46GB.

  • Capacity bar reports phantom storage issue

    I have relatively little on my new iPad Air. About 10 video clips of a few minutes each, 208Mb photos, nearly 1Gb Apps, 1Gb Other (?). So I started transferring music, with it set to transfer only selected music. I selected 3 albums that came to about 260Mb.
    The capacity bar reports various limits over capacity, but is determined that Audio is 11.43Gb/1058 songs (as compared to the forty or so songs I was trying to transfer).
    I restored it. Now the iPad itself appears to believe it has no audio at all (which was the desired option to start afresh without confusing it), but the capacity bar in iTunes still reports 11.43Gb/1058 songs. It has never had 1058 songs on it at all. I never even set it to have all the music I'd had on my iPod Classic.
    iTunes refuses to transfer anything to the iPad because of this phantom capacity issue.
    I would really like to know what's happening, and more to the point, how to stop it happening.

    No - I have not tried removing all of them, but I think I am leaning in another direction as the capacity bar DID work correctly at one time, also when I had other devices attached. I mean, it simply could be that I removed iPod too quickly from my PC (or wouldn't that be possible). I am nosing around in the attributes of the folders contained in iPod - should any of them be read only? Like the Contacts folder? Should I change the attributes? Would a reset (not a restore) help?
