Capacity of SAP B1
Hi,
I have a prospect in retail industry. They hv around 500K items and have 1000 invoice per day (each invoice has around 5 items, which will be maintained and imported by their POS system into SAP B1). I would like to know do you have similar reference case? Will such a number of items/ invoice make the sytem poor in performance? Any idea to improve the performance?
Tks
Hi,
My experience is that 2005´s performance is not good with documents with lot of lines (More than 50). This performance specially happens when you change the selected cell.
I don´t think that you will have problems with the invoices. Perhaps with the item searches.
My suggestion would be to reproduce the scenario before starting to speak with the customer.

Hi,
I would like to know, is it possible to use pooled capacity in SAP PS and how it really works.
Pls advise.
Regards
RajuHi Narayan........
Yes it is possible to use pooled Capacity in PS.........pooled capacity means the capacity which can be shared by several work centers at the same time. Whenecr you are creating a capacity in PS, just click on Pooled Capacity so that it will become pooled capacity. For your help.........go through this link also..........

Fields for Available capacity in SAP
We are trying to generate Z report on Availabile capacity
Under normal transaction : by going in CR03 we can have Start time / Finish Time based on which we get operating time in hours, we need to capture the Avaialble capacity we are not getting this field in any SAP table
Max we go in KAKO by capacity ID of resource and get Start time, Finish Time , Breaktime in Seconds & % utilization how do i convert this in Hours,i have tried various combinations but it does not matches in CR03
Can anyone suggest how to convert this seconds or any other table from which i can get Availability Capacity in hrsDear Bhavesh,
Check this logic,
Available Capacity = From table KAKO take the fields BEGZT(shift start), ENDZT(shift end) and PAUSE(break time),divide this
value by 3600 and you will get it hours.
For example if BEGZT - 25200,then 25200/3600 = 07:00:00 start time.
ENDZT - 54000,then 54000/3600 = 15:00:00 end time.
Check this logic a.capacity = {(BEGZT - ENDZT) - PAUSE}NGRADAGNOR /100

Attachment Handling in SAP CRM 7.0 EHP 3.0
Hello,
We are in the design phase of an SAP CRM 7.0 EhP3 implementation project. In the current landscape the legacy system for customer service (CS) management uses an external shared fileserver for storing attachments from the CS system. However we plan to decommission this external content server as it does not support good security features.
Storing attachments in SAP CRM via content management - can SAP CRM content management support large files? What is the maximum capacity per attachment and also the overall maximum capacity that SAP CRM content management can support.
We have "heard" that SAP does not recommend storing attachments within CRM, but rather in an external secure storage server. Is this true? Is yes, what would be the best approach to store and read attachments from SAP CRM?
Regards,
ReenaHi Christophe,
Facebook and Twitter are officially integrated into SAP CRM 7.0 EHP 3. Not LinkedIn though.
You can use a custom solution in EHP2. Example is provided in SAPPress book SAP CRM: Techical Principles and Programming.

Hi
We try to interface OSB (Oracle) with SAP ECC6 EHP6, the flow is concerning the Stock Mvts
What is the capacity of SAP Web Services to process data (Stock Mvt) in term of SLA?
For your information: We have about 20000 Flow (Stock Mvt) per day and a peak between 12AM – 2PM
Knowing that OSB has his specific SAP Adapter, what are the best practices to be used to interface OSB with SAP. Please provide us the SLA of each Standard Connector ( RFC / Proxy / Idoc ..)
Thank youHi,
1. In this tutorial, SAP Logon Ticket is being used - Yes .Passwords wont be checked. Because issue of logontickets is done within a trusted domain.. In the sense that, your uname and password will already be verified(say in a portal logon or in a windows logon) and after that when you are inside the system you are trusted and password is not verified again.
If you want it to prompt for a password use it without logon tickets.

2. The Web Service with SAP Logon Ticket if called form MS Application like Visual .NET then what are the requirements for that?
I doubt if this is possible . SAP logon ticket applies within SAP systems only. In other cases we have to resort to other options like x.509 certificates.
Seems like we have login forms for this purpose.. chk it out.. !
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/99/ca7af0793cc24c889b082b7230daaa/frameset.htm
3. Is UME Configuration required on the EP? Since the tutorial did say about using UME console to assign users, roles etc or it is not required if the authentication is form the WD application.
In any one place.. if you are using portal authentication in portal is sufficient.. The WD application should use a system which has authentication type as SAP logon ticket.
4. How is synchronization handled with UME?
in the sense.. if a user is deleted in the backend.. etc.,in this case the user is rejected and it prompts for username and password.
Hope it helps.

Error in SAP APO Inbound: capacity requirement is invalid
Hi Experts
I am getting an error in APO Inbound in APO queue manager. The error text reads " Capacity requirement is invalid".
I checked for all the resources whether they have validity and also checked for mismatching control key. But these fields are allright in both ECC and APO system.
I checked note # 924562, but i am still not able to solve this issue.
Can you please suggest how should i debug this error?
Many Thanks!!
Regards
MansiHi Mansi,
Were you able to replicate the issue on which activity triggers this CIF error?
I remember a similar error which happened when converting planned order to production order where it was giving error"“Bucket capacity requirement has an invalid value” .
SAP had suggested to implement note 1381483 to fix this.
Thanks

SAP-MRS, What is capacity pots
Hi All
We have implemented SAP MRS/ Multi Resource scheduling along with SAP-Plant Maintenance in EHP6 SAP GUI.
I 've a doubt & 'm not getting clarified on some certain areas reagrding MRS / Will anyone update us with the below given queries?
What are Capacity pots & the various aspects of a RFC behavior of Capacity Pots?
Please explain in brief regarding RFC behavior & Capacity pots
Thanks & Regards
Arnab Lahiri
SAP SupplyChain Consulting
SAP Plant Maintenence/PMThis is one of the hottest area in SAP MRS
Capacity Pots enables appointment booking functionality to book jobs of a certain job type without assigning directly a resource.
The actual assignment between the created appointment and the appropriate resource is done with MRS functionality
either manually or by optimizer.Capacity Pots have basic availability maintained at work center level with respect to job type
which requires qualification of the resource. Resource with multiple qualifications can be hierarchically mapped based on customizing.
Capacity of resources are maintained as full day pot and subsequently hourly based slots can be configured in customizing
“Maintain Capacity pot Time Intervals”The Capacity Pot can be updated for work center and Qualification Category with the Availability.
The Capacity pots get updated when a service order is created and integrated into MRS / when assignment is saved in the planning board
(manually or through optimizer).
Hope this give you clarity if not please get back. -
How we can define storage capacity constraint for SAP APO SNP(trading company)
Hi
can any one advise how we can define storage capacity constraint in SAP APO SNP.Typically businesss scenario its a trading company sources from different sources and deliver to the distribution centres, its typically sourcing optimization using SNP optimizer. How we can define capacity constraint for a source?
ThanksHello Poorna
I suggest you to refer this thread which will be helpful.

Precalculation SAP Server Capacity before deploy Roll Out Project
Hello Experts,
Kindly any one share your great experience to help our requirement.
We are planning to implement new business scenarios and new client in existing Production server.
Before deploy new business functionalists, what are factors need to consider in existing Production server.
How to precalculate SAP server capacity to adopt new functionality, how affect workload, performance, memory..etc..
Kindly any one the list of factors.. and some standard document.
Regards,
KarthikHi Karthik,
First find out the 'capacity' of your current server hardware. Ask the HW provider for the SAPS number of the machines, or look it up on SAP's benchmark sides http://service.sap.com/benchmarks
Then monitor the current usage of your servers to find out how many SAPS you need for the existing functions, and how much headroom you have left.
And for the new functions, look whether some sizing guideline exists (http://service.sap.com/sizing) or if a sizing for the new application is implemented in the quicksizer tool.
With that, it should be a simple a + b = c type calculation.

Determine Available Capacity at a Location in SAP TM 8.0
Dear friends,
I need to create a demo in SAP TM 8.0 for which I need to show the available transportation capacity at a particular location at any particualr time.
Currently we define the resources (by defining the capacity dimensions) and then use the cockpit via capacity profiles to determine the capacities to be used for planning. But in my situation the customer would like to use the available capacity resources for planinng i.e. he wants to see currently available resource(trucks) at a particular location. I mean, if some trucks i.e. resources are being processed by the frieght order, such resource(trucks) should not be shown in the capacity profile.
In the TM system, even though a resource (single resouce) has been utilized by FO, this single resource is still shown in Capacity profile of the transportation capacity. This happens because I don't have any restriction in the capacity profile setting which restricts the selection based on availability of the vehicle?
Is there a standard setting/configuration in TM which shows the planner exactly the resources which are free i.e. not associated with any FO which is currently beig processed?
For example.
We need to transport goods from Location A to Location B using a Single Resource (RES1 - truck) via MTR - MTR_FTL. Initially The planning cockpit shows me the FU along with the RES1 with MTR_FTL. I accept the planinng proposal and associate the FU with RES1. This essentially means that RES1 is fully loaded and should not be used for planning in the
next time. I create the second FU but due to restriction in the capacity profile screen, I still see RES1 in the planning cockpit. My requirement is that since RES1 is fully loaded, it should not be seen in the planing cockpit. Where do we make this configuration?
Many thanks for your help.
Best wishes,
AbhinavTM8.0 requires ehp5 (sp5) to have the ERP-TM integration.
But TM provides webservices which can be utilised for integration purpose. Please evaluate if this works for you. This may not be a seamless integration as with ehp5. -
Capacity levelling -automatic- SAP- PS
Please tell us how system do the automatic levelling.
I have created 2 similar activities.1 is starting today and 2nd after 3days. Ist is having 4 hours spare time and second is overloaded by 4hours.
For this system should consider the spare time avilable in the workcenter for the particular day and should level it.
Pls revert to us.
Regards
N.RajuHi Raju,
Automatic capacity levelling is not possible in SAP PS.
There can be various reasons for this:
1. The system might not be able to decide what other work center u want to select if there is an overload.
2. The system might not be able to decide whether to change the dates in the activity or not.
By the way, you can do it through some ABAP program.

Dear All,
i have one client who might consider to implement SAP B1. The potential risk is: they have around 400-500K item ( no serial no/ batch number is needed); around 4-5 warehouses. Monthly transactions are not many. So, could anyone share with your valuable comment for :
1, any B1 can handle such a large number of item master?
2, Will it be very slow in generating inventory/ sales report? if yes, what's the workaround solution?
3, any suggested hardware configuration? I found that the hardware requirement doc from SAP does not mention anything about the master sizing (so i think i can't reply on it).
Many thanks
AndyHello Fergus,
I have experienced the same things with you but not until million items. The answer for your problems as follows:
1. SAP B1 can handle almost over 700 items but not until millions items. I suggest to use R/3 or All in One
2. The slow in inventory generating or sales report could be happened if your hardware requirement can't match what the recommendation from SAP in sizing guide. You must always check the download resource center for sizing guide update version, because SAP is always upgraded the version if there is a very important issue relate to installation.
3. Same as no. 2. Downloading the sizing guide (the new version)
I suggest to use 64-bit rather than 32 bit. It is most recommended to operate large size database server.

Hi
Help me to solve this issue.Iam trying to do stock palcement for a material whose Base UOM is Each and Odering UOM is "CAR", CAR=12 EA.Iam trying to place the material intially in the fixed bin ,if the fixed bin is full place in the rack area.
Iam using capacty indicator "4" (based on article) for the rack area, defined capacity usage as "1" in the material master and Total capacity as 500 in the storage bins. when i receive 50 cartons means 600 EA ,i expect 480 EA (40 cartons) to be placed in the first bin and the remainaing 120 EA (10 cartons) in the next bin .But system is throwing the error " Bin capacity is too low ".
when enough empty bins are avialbel y the system throws this errors.
The problem is if all the quantity can't be fit in the fixed storage bin due to its capacity then the remaining has to be put in a rack area.
Is the system to be enough intelligent to split the suitable quantity in two parts in order to fill completly the fix storage bin and the remaining to another storage bin.
Help me to solve the issue.
Regards
KumarHi Kumar
Hope you are using Near Picking Bin putaway strategey. If so, you can choose Capacity Check method in storage type as "3 - Check based on maximum quantity per bin in storage type"
As system will check the maximum quantity defined, available quantity in the bin and suggest suitable overflow/reserve bin and not fixed bin
If bin quantity is less than maximum quantity defined in master level and putaway quantity is well within the maximum quantity, system will suggest Fixed bins

Capacity Across Multiple SAP Systems
We have 2 ECC systems and want to see Resource Capacity/Requirements across the 2 systems. Has anyone run across this before? If so, how did you address it? I realize that APO would be a likely candidate to help with this, but that seems like a lot of overhead to address this requirement as there are no additional requirements for APO.
Any thoughs?
Thanks,
MarkMario,
Thanks for the response. Are you saying that APO can only provide a report for this? Is there not a way to actually combine capacity from 2 different systems and manage the capacity? Maybe somehow try to use a work center group or something?
Thanks,
Mark
