Capital/Shift "I" Pasting Text

Update: My issue has been resolved. I spoke with Adobe tech
support and they had me delete my preferences file. That fixed the
issue. I then put all of my preferences back and everything is
still fine. I'm not sure how, but it would seem the preferences
file had been corrupted.
I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 (Version 9, Build 3481) on a Mac
(OS X 10.4.9). I am essentially new to both.
When I am editing code I can't seem to type a capital "I"
(eye) - instead it is as if I hit Command-V to paste the text from
the paste buffer. Caps Lock off, hit Shift-I, text is pasted. Caps
Lock on, hit "I", text is pasted. I can type a lowercase "i" all I
want - no problems.
I tried using two different keyboard shortcut sets (default
and BBEdit), behavior is the same with both. I can re-map Shift-I
to something else, but that doesn't help. When I remove the
re-mapped shortcut I'm back to the "pasting" behavior.
I checked my Apple system preferences, but don't see anything
obvious. I terminated all other running programs, but the behavior
remains.
My solution... put a capital "I" in the paste buffer anytime
I need an "I" in the code. :)
Any ideas on how to fix this? It is driving me a little
crazy.

You must have some Apple utility running in the background
that is affecting
your keyboard shortcuts. Are you sure there is nothing there?

How to copy and paste text into email without HTML gibberish

I've had trouble for some time now copying and pasting text into and out of yahoo emails. I can't just copy and paste text, I have to first transfer to Word for Mac and then paste into a yahoo email. Then I end up with what looks like three lines of HTML gibberish at the start of the pasted text each time. Isn't there a clean and direct way of copy and paste of text into and from emails in yahoo? No other email I work with has this problem, and the Safari browser doesn't give this same issue

I have to agree with bmalmquist. Need for Speed seems to work great on the Playbook. I didn't buy the Playbook to play games though. RIM needs to shift their focus from games to useful and productive apps. The apps I need to use are either missing very important features, or are just completely missing. It is somewhat disconcerting to see new apps appear in App World only to discover that the new apps are mostly games. I'm seeing lots of apps that would help me waste time, but very few that will actually help me be more productive.

my question is how I can copy and paste text within a text in an email message (that is shifting phrases and passages around) without using the cumbersome "Edit". If there's a way, does it also work for texts in Pages? Please, let me know. Thanks!

Hi Len,
actually I thought about highlighting a word, phrase, or passage, holding it with the mouse, and then shifting it around within the text to the desired place, just as I used to do when I owned a PC. Does this work with Mac as well?

HT1216 copy-pasting text in Unix

Hello. I am trying to do shift-insert to paste text from clip board. Since insert can be emulated using fn-return on a mac keyboard, I do shift-fn-return. But nothing happens. I'm doing this in a VNC session. Any ideas? Is my problem that the shift-fn-return is not going through VNC? Or am I just using the wrong key combinations? TIA.

This is kinda funny because I had a post about the same issue last week(not being able to copy\paste) and apple forums took my post down. I am not sure if they were upset because we are all complaining about not having this feature...but it seems like a necessity they might have forgotten.
However, I did request (on their feedback site) that this feature be included in the next update...which is what I recommend you doing too!

To copy and paste on a BlackBerry smartphone press the Shift key and Scroll to select the text, press the Shift key and click to copy, and then press the Shift key and click to paste the copied text into a new field.

Anchor tag error, also copy and pasting text comes up "null"

After the recent update I am receiving anchor tag errors telling me to start with an alphabetic letter, which I was. Also no longer lets me copy and paste text onto a page, instead it says "null". Any ideas on a fix ?

I don't see a closing </body> tag in your code. There's an opening tag, but no closing tag, hence unbalanced.

Pasting text into a text layer in Photoshop CC 2014

I've been playing around around with Photoshop CC 2014 HTML5/Javascript extensions (CEP5) for a while now and I came across a problem I couldn't solve: how to paste text in an existing text layer when the user is editing the text? Using evalScript and app.activeDocument.paste(); works fine when pasting copied pixels as a new layer, but if the user is on a text layer editing the text (and I want the extension to paste text there), it throws an evalScript error.
Am I doing something terribly wrong or what? The next thing I thought was to invoke paste event and try it that way.

I only see the normal texture filtering. Seems like you have a fundamental misunderstanding here about how 3D works - "pixel perfect" has no meaning for 3D textures since UV space is parametric and has by itself in theory infinite resolution, so any texture will be fit into this range and inevitably a single pixel in the texture can cover more than a pixel on screen or more than a square milimeter on a 3D object. If you want "sharp" textures, you increase the texture resolution, which, if you realyl want that pixely look would be doen using the nearest neighbor method. Regardless, once you zoom in at some point you will see fuzzy edges/ pixels again. It's in the nature of the thing.

ID CS4 slow after pasting text from MS Word

Each time I paste text from a Word document into my ID CS4 document, ID begins to run very slowly. I can't even type properly. Has anyone else seen this?
I have fixed this problem by copying all the text and pasting in the a new document (I thought the document was possibly corrupted). This fixed the problem, but it has happened multiple times now. Much of my information comes from engineers' word documents, so this is not convenient.

The best I can tell, it is related to the cross references, and that it happened after pasting was coincedental. It could have been that pasting made a cross referenced section move to another page, so it was trying to update.
The cross references are a little buggy:
EVERY time I create a cross ref from the cross ref menu (in the cross ref window), ID CS4 (with all patches) crashes. If I create them from the Text menu (at the top), it doesn't crash.
If you have a large number of cross refs in a doc, it becomes slow.
When slowness occurs, I have found that updating the cross refs and then resolving all errors in the cross ref window usually clears it up.

Win 7, explorer. Cut and paste from any text source (Word, Notepad, Explorer) has the same result. As an example, In this form window I cannot paste. But, If I open a new discussion, toggle the HTML button, I can paste. . For some reason the reply form does not have the HTML button. So, it might be a Java/browser thing - something is disabled.....
I'll try Chrome and see if the same thing happens.
I can cobble around it, but I've never seen this in any other HTML form before...

I can't cut and paste text in any app, between apps, drag drop...

I have owned and used my iMac since late in 2008 (although mine is an early 2008 model).
Starting this evening (10 December 2011) I can't copy/paste text from the clipboard any longer. For example, I can't select and copy a URL then paste it in another tab of the same browser. Nothing is pasted.
Dragging and dropping text from one browser window to another also doesn't work, nor from one browser URL bar to another browser bar.
In sum, the most BASIC COPY/PASTING TEXT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL ANY LONGER!!! Drag and drop ditto. Most frustrating!
Anybody else had this problem suddenly come upon them??? Suggestions, advice.

p.s. btw restarting the mac or shutting down booting up doesn't get rid of the problem. Next I will try unplugging everything then reconnecting.
Haven't tried resetting PRAM yet. That will be my next and last resort.

Oops! I discovered yesterday that *the real problem with my keyboard was (is) a diagonal "row" of keys isn't functioning*! Unfortunately, the four keys are 'c, d, e, and 3/#'; hence, losing the '⌘-c' or "copy" function.
Still, it helped some that I could employ the right-click with my wireless "magic mouse."
Fortunately I remembered this morning that I had a perfectly good UBS keyboard with keypad from my previous Mac.

Paste text in table in a single row

Hi,
When I copy several paragraphs of text and paste it in a table, Pages automatically insert each paragraph in it's own row, adding rows as necessary. Most of the time, I don't want this and I have to merge the cells. Is there a way to paste text and have it appear in a single row, even if there is more than one paragraph?

It seems that you didn't do the task correctly/
What you describe is what I get when I click once on a cell.
In this case, *_only the cell is selected_*.
If I double-click the cell, the selection is no longer the cell but its contents.
In this case, when I paste, I get that :

How to NOT retain formatting when copying and pasting text

Captivate 7 keeps the formatting from my text sources when I paste into a Text Caption which is not what I need. Anything I could find in the forums where questions relating to "keeping" the source formatting. I don't want this, I want Captivate to keep its text formatting when I paste text into a text caption. I even did a test creating a new project and using one of the Cap 7 themes. If I paste text in the default capture caption style object, it retains the formatting of the copied text source. I have been working with Captivate 7 since a few months now and, until this morning, when I copied and pasted text from another source into my Captivate Text Caption, it retained the format of my Captivate Text Caption object. This is exactly what I need. How can I get this behavior back?

Well, first I would report it as undesired behavior and possibly ask for an enhancement that allows us to right-click and paste without formatting. Do this using the link below:

For now, you have a couple of options.
1. Perform a side trip. Open a text editor such as Windows Notepad or Apple Textpad and paste, then copy back to the clipboard. Then paste the text into the caption. (When pasting into the text editor, formatting is stripped)
2. On Windows machines, you can usually find a clipboard utility that allows you to paste as pure text. In fact, one such application is called PureText.

I can't paste text into info boxes anymore with the latest version of itunes

Ever since I downloaded the latest version of itunes (on Windows 7), I can no longer paste text into the info boxes when I edit song information. I can’t paste by right-clicking or Ctrl+V, this is driving me crazy because I’m trying to add info on a Russian artist with Cyrillic letters and I can’t do it! I didn’t buy the song from itunes so it can’t be issues with Copyrighting although the same thing happens with songs from the store and every other song in my library. I can paste text into the lyrics section but that’s it. I restarted my computer after reinstalling the latest versions of itunes and Firefox today hoping it would fix my problem but it didn’t. Is this happening to anyone else? I hope someone can help me! Oh and it isn’t just with Russian, I tried to paste English info just to see if it was a problem with recognizing Cyrillic and still nothing pastes, the boxes just stay blank.
Itunes is annoying me more than ever. With the constant updates you’d think they would be able to improve all bugs but once one problem is fixed another occurs and it’s so irritating because I couldn’t care less about how my library looks as long as everything is organized in a simple way and I can sync my ipod without spending forever on itunes re-editing stuff and readjusting to updated layout changes. Click the drop down arrow at top left the Show menu.
Then iTunes menu View > Show sidebar.

Unable to copy & paste text in Godaddy email

I've don't use Safari, but wasn't able to recreate the issue just now. But in Firefox, my primary browser, this has become a major issue over the last few months with using Godaddy webmail. It wasn't as noticeable an issue at first, but now it's with every email. I've also deleted all cookies and cache files in my history.
I frequently use templates to compose new emails to clients. If I try to copy text from a template to paste into an email, none or only part of the text will actually paste. If I try to paste the text again, the same thing happens.
Sometimes, if I try to paste text, a big white space will appear with only part of the text. Other times the text will copy in a completely random spot in the email, such as the very top or bottom.
I've found that there are sometimes dead zones in the Compose Email window, and if I can space far enough away from that a bad spot, it'll then allow ALL the text I've copied to be pasted correctly. I will then try and delete all the extra space. Sometimes this works, other times it will then also delete the pasted text. This then seems to be some kind of formatting issue, but the Goddady Browser Tool says that there aren't any compatibility issues with the Firefox.
This process is now doubling and tripling the time it takes to compose emails that I already have templates created for. Please help!!

I've tried that also (that's mainly how I cut and paste), and it still happens. When I called godaddy and explained that it looked like a formatting issue, the rep said he'd never heard of this being an issue on their end.
I then read online that others had similar issues using godaddy webmail with firefox.
I've switched to safari for now, but I'd love to still be able to email from firefox.
