Capitalization date from GRN date
Dear All,
i need a requirement to be configured in the system.
when we are doing a GRN in MIGO TC for a particular PO with asset ID 100200, the GRN date should pick up as the capitalization date in the Asset master of 100200.
How to configure this.
Please kindly advice me
Regards
Man
Hi
With the help of your MM Consultant you can do this. Change the field status of Account Assignment Category A in Transaction Code OME9. Remove the Check Box for GR as non valuated. However, note that the asset values would also be updated from the date of GRN. Test the same in Sandbox

Dear Experts,
I am buying asset by PO. As far as I know, when we check goods receipt field in PO, system must use MIGO ( goods receipt ) date as capitalization date of asset. but when I try to do MIGO for such an asset, system shows me following error:
- Asset 1111 111000010-0 is incomplete, check the asset Message no. AAPO184
Diagnosis
The 'incomplete' indicator was set for asset 1001 111000010-0 because required entries were not made.
After investigating I see in asset master data, that asset does not have capitalization date and system consider that asset incomplete. ( I created asset at the time of creating PO ). please tell me why this happens and system needs capitalization date while capitalization date for that asset must be MIGO date. and system must not stop me and show error.
Regards,Hi rakesh
Capitalization date were system will calculate the actual depreciation and how it can be GRN date ??
When you create assets in master data system you have to give capitalization date not as GRN date -
Asset capitalization date not appropriate
Hi,,
Please tell me while I run Asset settlement through KO88 in period 7 ie, 22October 2010 asset capitalization and first acquisition date become 31.10.2010 instead of 22.10.2010. Because I executed asset settlement through KO88 on 22.10.2010 which is appearing 31.10.2010. What is the actual logic of taking advance value date instead of taking current date? Is it taking entire month and value is stamped on asset master as last day of month.....
Regards,
SamratDear Samrat,
when you enter the capitalization date manually the system uses this date as the default asset value
date when you post the first acquisition to the asset. If you do not enter a capitalization date in the asset master record, the system automatically adopts the asset value date of the first acquisition posting as the capitalization date. The system inserts the asset value date of the first acquisition posting in the capitalization date field (Capitalized on...) in the asset master record, when a capitalizing transaction type is used.
Please check your customizing in IMG: Asset Accounting > Transactions > Specify How Default Asset Value Date is Determined
The System logic with Asset capitilisation date is as follows:
When no capitalization date is entered in the asset master record the posting date of the first posting will be taken as the capitalization date not the asset value date.
Documentation:
R/3 Library:
Asser Accounting > Basic functions for transactions > Dates in Asset accounting
Default Values for Asset Value Date:
- Initial acquisition > Capitalization date from master record (if in
same FY, otherwise posting date)
- Settlement of AuC > Posting date
Set 'Prime Rule' and 'Alt.Rule' for each transaction (in your case it is
for transaction 'Settlement of AuC')

How to delete an asset with a capitalization date inefaceable and no value?
Hi all,
An asset was created on the wrong asset class. I would like to erase it but this is impossible because of the capitalization date.
Indeed, I cannot change the fields status variant of the capitalization date, it is compulsory.
Furthermore, as this asset was an error, there are no values on it.
I tried to enter a deactivation date, but this is not possible because of no acquisition performed.
Therefore, I would like to know if it is possible to erase an asset even if a capitalization date has been entered in the master data?
If it is possible, how can I do?
Thanks for helpHi,
This is the drawback in asset master, when you make cap date as mandatory for AS01 transaction.
As a standard practice, cap date gets updated automatically when posting MIGO / F-90 only along with the qty.
In your case, first ask your ABAP member to delete the values from cap date field from table ANLA. (Field Name: AKTIV) for your questioned asset.
Then you can delete that asset with AS06 by choosing Physically delete the asset.
This will resolve your issue.
But if you make your field status as optional to cap date, then you must not got these kind of issues in the future.

Hi Gurus,
Kindly advise if it is advisable to change the capitalization date when we transfer asset within the company using t-code ABUMN just for reporting purposes.
Thanks,
EllicecHi Viswa,
Here is the scenario. We have an original asset no which is 7800002100. The capitalization date of this asset maintained in AS02 asset master data is 12/07/2009. We need to transfer this asset to a new cost center so we transfer the asset within company code using ABUMN.
In ABUMN, we created a new asset that will replace the original asset. However, we change the capitalization date of the new asset (replacement) to 01/01/2011.
Kindly advise if it's ok that we change the capitalization date from 12/07/2009 (old asset ) to 01/01/2011 (new asset )

What's the need for capitalization date and 1st acq. posting date?
hi guys,
i was wondering what the system would do with capitalization date and first acquisition posting date ??
and what will be the problem if i entered an asset value date (in the acquisition transaction) that's earlier than the capitalization date entered in the asset master record ?!In practice all assets are not put to use right from the date of purchase.Hence the concept of different dates arises. One being the acquisition date and the other Capitalization date.
I would buy an asset today but start using it from a later date. Depreciation has to be calculated from the date of capitalization and not acquisition. But still for record purpose date of purchase would be important. Hence both the dates are maintained.
Hope this has clarified your doubts.
Thanks

Incorrect amount and capitalization date in the depreciation simulation
Dear SAP Masters,
I am getting a strange problem at my client's place while we are doing the depreciation simulation for Investment orders.
when we run this transaction to get the depreciation amount for a investment order we are getting a monthly depreciation amount of 446.72$and the capitalization date as 01/01/2008.
but the capitalization date for that order in KO04 is 07/25/2007 and the total project amount is 181500$. but the users are saying the capitalization should be 07/25/2007 and the depreciation for monthly should be 3025$ (181500/60months) because the useful life is for 5 years. I am not sure how it will calculate the deprecition as i am new to this area. They are saying they have no issues running this transaction for fixed assets but only for open investment order and the same time it is not consistent with the all the orders. I would like to know how the system is taking the information for running the report and uderstand the root cause of the error.
Any help will be truely appreciated.
Kind regards
Leoniyes it is a temp table but the 2nd error is triggered after reading this temp table T7INREIM_TRNSDT in the include LHRPBSINCLAIMS_UTILSF01.
Also, this check occurs only if the Adv Claim is Tax-Exempt.
Is there a flag/checkbox that says 'On Actuals'?
The 1st error is getting triggered from the include LHRPBSINNEWCLAIMSF07 in the backend..You can put an external breakpoint & debug your claim.. that should help you resolve the issue.
And, yes the date check occurs only when the claim is LTC specifc.
all the validations are done in the the function call to HRXSS_IN_CL_REQ_VALIDATION.

Depreication posted before capitalization date
HI
I have created an asset in Oct 11 and mentioned dep start date as 01 Oct 11 and also posted capitalization date as 01 Oct 11. But when I see the planned depreciation in AW01N, the depreciation is shown from January 11 onwards and also posted depreciation in January 11.
I am in a testing phase of new rollout and tested this process in DEV client. How to prevent this posting prior to capitalization date of asset
Regards
MuraliDepreciation calculation date is determined by the combination of Depreciation key and capitalization date.
In your case please check your depreciation key and change the settings accordingly.
AFAMA - Maintain Depreciation key
AFAMP - Period control method
Please check your period control method in AFAMA and go to AFAMP, select appropriate value for acquisition column.

TamilselvanHi Tamilselvan,
it can have impact on the derpeciation calculation.
Perhaps it have impact on reporting (for example RAGITT_ALV01 if some transactions are posted bevore the capitalization date.
perhaps the following notes will help you.
50970 When and with which date is an asset capitalized?
548899 FAQ depreciation asset accounting
Generally this should not be really critically.

Posting not possible (Value date earlier than capitalization date)
Hello , we are getting the error shown below. I'am not sure where to go to fix this can any offer any advice.
Thank you
Posting not possible (Value date earlier than capitalization date)
Message no. AA 322
Diagnosis
Asset 000000040048 0000 was first capitalized on 20080831.
You cannot post to an asset that was not yet capitalized.
Procedure
You have the following options:
Change the asset value date of your posting.
Capitalize the asset by posting an acquisition.Generally this message will come , if you have created a asset with a capitalization date say 31/08/2008 and you are settling a Internal order for last period say 07 on with a posting date earlier than capitalization date , say 15/08/2008.
The System will not allow you to post because the value date cannot be earlier than capitalization date.
Change the value date to later than capitalization date and post. -
hi there
My effort is to add tax (area 10) values to existing assets.
As of now I have an asset.
capitalization date 1/1/2003
book deprn start date as 05/30/2003.
but we want , for tax purposes, in area 10, we need the deprn start date as 1/1/2002.
The system is only calculating accum deprn in as92 (for area 10) ONLY if i put the capitalization date as
1/1/2002.
PLease let me know what would be the implications if I change this to 1/1/2002 on the book deprn values.we are in 2009 and change the fiscal year.
Thanks
MSJHello
I don't think there is any major impact.
Ensure that this tax depreciation area does not post any real time entries.
Make statistical entry as check point.

How to change Asset Capitalization date ?
Hello
All Experts,
I want to chnage asset capitilizatio date so how can I ?
Experts guidance is needed.
Regards,
Pankaj.Hi,
You can change the asset cap date at any point of time using AS02.
But the date in the First acquisition on cannot be changed, since it is a display field.
At the time of changing the cap date, system will shows an warning message like below.....
You should no longer change the capitalization date
Message no. AA225
Diagnosis
You have changed the asset capitalization date.
You can make this change, however this warning should make you aware of the consequences of such a change.}
And what is the business requirement to change the cap date?, since if you have already posted the dep posting, it doesnot make any adjustment to it.
Thanks,

Asset incorrect capitalization date
An asset is created with an incorrect capitalization date with date feb 2007. now they found out the cap date should be 12/01/2007, so the asset is posted with addl depreciation for 10 months . how to credit depreciation
What is the ideal way to correct it.
Fyi..2007 is already closed.
Any clarification is appreciated.
Thank youThanks for your response..I realize I just have to write up depreciation using ABZU, but do I need to make any changes to the asset master to the depreciation start date
Also when I use ABZU/ ttype 700 to writeup does it recalculate depreciation.
Thank you -
Dear Sir,
We implemented SAP in May 2009.
We have capitalized assets thruout the year (2009-10) - some with date Mar 2010.
We have not run the depreciation at all.
Is it that, if i now have to create an asset with capitalization date - Feb 2010 - system won't allow?
Do i need to captitalize it in chronological order? if so why?
Thanks
SanjayDear,
Sanjay.
March 2010 date range falls within fiscal year 2009. So you can capitalize assets in same year. Following best practices user has to take up the values as on date, delay may create the chaotic situation at end of fiscal year.
Running the depreciation is one of the period closing activity. If you run the depreciation and then capitalize any assets run it again. System will not post again the depreciation to all assets it will consider only planned depreciation values in the run for that particular period.
But folllowing such ways is not at all recommended it will nothing but shuffle the account books.
I hope you understand. If you have any doubts please share.

Hi
I have update tax details in GRPO but while copy to AP invoice system pick posting date/ document date as system date and if i change the date the screen refresh and the tax details i have updated it change. that i do not want.
Is there any option so that GRPO date will copy in ap invoice so that i need not to refresh the screen
regards
Ashish GargHi,
Please provide an example for tax details. Make note on these,
1. Whenever copy GRPO to AP invoice, posting and document date is system date. This is default design system
2. If you change these dates in AP invoice, your payment to vendor leads to confusion.
For example:
You have received items on 25-03-2014. But vendor raised invoice on 03/04/2014.
Thanks & Regards,
