Capps lock iOS 7.1

After updating my iPhone 5s to 7.1 my Capps lock just doesn't work anymore. It's turned on in settings though. Anyone an idea?

The design interface, with iOS 7.1, has changed. A double-tap now shows a white button with a black arrow & black underline to indicate caps lock. Are you saying you don't see this?

Sound pausing shortly when user locks iOS device?

Hi,
The bug causing a background sound to stop, when a user locks the screen on iOS device, has been lately fixed in AIR 4.0 beta.
However, now with beta 4.0.0.1390, when the device is locked or goes into sleep mode, the sound stops for 2 seconds (sometimes a bit more, it depends on the device power), then the sound continues playing. It happens on various devices (iPhone 3GS, iPod 4 and iPhone 4S) and multiple OS (5.1.1, 6.0.1, and 7).
My code is very simple, and uses the standard Sound.play() function. Of course it is better than the previous behaviour, since at least now the sounds continues after a while, but this cut can get annoying. Before I submit a bug, do you guys encounter the same issue?

Orientation changes, even when locked iOS 7.1.2

I have my iPad mini locked in portrait view, onthe pull up setting (not the side button). Since the latest iOS update to 7.1.2 it switches to landscape on its own, and I need to reset it constantly.
Is anyone else experiencing this that can tell me how to fix it?

There may or may not be iOS 7.1.2. Apple has announced iOS 8 - to be released sometime this fall.

If the iPhone refuses to activate because the former owner set up Find My iPhone and didn't release it, then you cannot now restore or activate the iPhone. You will have to get back with that owner and get them to release the Activation Lock:

If you cannot find the owner, or they refuse to help you, then I'm afraid you have purchased an unusable iPhone. You can attempt to get your money back, though that will probably not be possible.
If Find My iPhone was not set up on the device and you're getting the "cannot contact activation server" error message, there are four primary causes of that error:
The activation server is unavailable. Rare, but it happens. Usually fixed within minutes.
Your antivirus or firewall (or your router's firewall) is blocking access to the domain gs.apple.com on ports 80 and 443.
Your phone is jailbroken.
Your phone isn't jailbroken, but the computer you are connected to during the restore or update was used to hack or jailbreak some other iOS device, and its network database was corrupted in the process.
Perhaps this will provide you some clues as to how to proceed. If your iPhone has not been jailbroken, Apple has some troubleshooting suggestions here:

Problem removing 4 digit passcode lock (IOS 4.2.1)

No, but let it sit like that for a few more minutes. If no change, force the phone into recovery mode:
Turn off your phone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone to turn off. If you cannot turn off your phone using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When your phone turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. After restoring from backup, you must sync to restore your iTunes content.

My settings say the screen should lock after 1 minute but after upgrading to 6 this is no longer happening.
I do use the accessability home screen touch option as my home button does not work.

DId you confirm that the update did not remove your access code? Try deleting your access code altogether and then re-enable it. Also try changing the setting to 5 min. then back to 1 min. just to see if something got glitched during the install.

No you can't, just simply double tap the Shift on your keyboard when returning from numbers, don't be lazy

Thanks for the question. The following article provides some solutions if you are having issues with passcode lock:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode

If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
5. iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

Sounds like the Activation Lock (iOS 7) is working as designed. It determs theft since y have to know the APple ID's passward to use/restore the iPod foro use. Unless you can get the password you have a nice but thin brick. Likely the iPod was stolen

Need an iOS utility to move a home-made video to the Photos app/file space

I urgently need to find a way to move a home made video file (.mp4) that was _not_ created on or with an iPhone from being only visible on the iPhone 4S (running (locked) iOS 6.0.1) Videos app to be visible in the Photos app.
I must project these videos via an iPhone Pico projector (Aiptek i50 "sled" model) in a highly mobile way that has zero dependency on a laptop. Aiptek provides a Viewer app that does allow any video storred in the Photos Albums file space to be projected but this Viewer app does not allow me to browse over to the Videos filespace.
This desired utility could run on Mac OS X or Windows 7 - or on the iPhone itself. I just need to leave my office with the ability to project these non-iPhone camera-created video files on the Aiptek projector.

If you can convert it to a compatible format, the app PhotoSync will allow you to wirelessly send it to the camera roll on your phone, so it would be playable in the Photos app (again, if the video was a compatible format).

A day before got new IPAD mini (Wifi-Cellular). When trying to look forpasscode enable option, it ended with nothing to avail. Would like to know if there is any such priviledge or not. Secondly, when the iPad is left idle for awhile ,say, 5 minutes,, a poor screensaver pops up and continues to play IPad advertisement, which we usually find in DEMO products @stores. Doubtful, if seller has handed over bad/demo stuff to me. Please suggest. It took whole of last night to figure out on Google, but no success.

You can configure a passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using Settings > General > Passcode Lock.

If you are unable to modify certain passcode settings, there may be a configuration profile that requires these passcode options.
You can find out if a profile is installed by tapping Settings > General and looking for the Profile setting between Accessibility and Reset.

Found a 4S

First off I found this iPhone 4S I did not steal it, or I would not posting here.
On one of my many trips to Asia at a restaurant in Bangkok in the seat cushion I found an iPhone 4s, I am a regular customer and know the owner asked him if anyone asked about an iPhone lately is said no and told me he does not want to deal with as he has a box full of other devices that no one has even claimed so do what ever I want with it. That was 5 weeks ago and he does know how to get in touch with me, I want to get in touch with the owner to see what they want to do but I can only see a part of an email not the whole thing when I turn it on. How can I see the whole email address so I can send them an email to let them know I have it and what we can do to with it.
I am not sure if posting this is or will be in any violation of rules on apple's forum asking sure a question that one might think I have a stolen device but as I said before, I found it. I am a very happy Apple customer owing too many Apple device going back some 20 years and will continue to enjoy and buy Apple products, if trying to do the right thing with this iPhone become a hassle for me if will end up in the trash faster than you can read the.

The right thing would've been to hand it in to the police 5 weeks ago when you found it, so that the rightful owner at least had a chance of getting back if/when he reported it lost to the police.
You should still hand it in to the police, but 5 weeks later the owner has probably given up on getting it back.
If you search on YouTube there are videos that show possible ways of revealing the full email address on an Activation Locked iOS device. Whether that will help in your case is for you to find out.
