Caps blink 2 times

Recently i bought HP G2 250, almost 6 or 7 month. its working fine but suddenly display went blank and wifi light remains orange but caps blink continuously with the interval of 2. i have done everything like power resting, removed ram and processor but no use. fan is working fine.

Hi C0mpaqHp,
I understand that you are having display issues with your notebook.  I am happy to help you.  Please see the below links, that should help you in determining if the problem is physical, or software related, or something as simple as the switch that tells the notebook that the display panel is open or not.

  • DV7 keeps blinks 4 times in Caps Lock, even after motherboard swap

    OK guys, I really need a good advice here, because I am going nuts on this case.
    I have a Pavilion DV7 in which the motherboard died (Caps Lock keeps blinking infinitely when power on). I then replaced the motherboard with a new one, but the new motherboard then blinks 4 times when powering on (after CPU cooler stops). According to HP that means "graphics failure". Then I got the new motherboard replaced (under warranty) with another new one. This second new motherboard also blinks 4 times when powering on. This can't be right, because what is the odds for receiving two motherboards with similar defects. None of the motherboards work with external monitor (VGA) neither.
    Now I wonder if a defective LCD or LCD inverter could cause this 4 times blink?
    /Ulrik

    Well the promise is that they will fix it for a year. HP did not make the hard drives so you cannot really blame them on that although the motherboard is their issue. I would say keep rolling with it until the warranty is out. If you have another issue ask to escalate to a supervisor, but HP hews pretty close to the terms of the warranty. A few states have non-auto lemon laws and you might do a bit of a google search to see just what your rights may be in the place you live.

  • Caps Lock blinking 13 times...

    Hi I have a HP 2000-363NR, when I power up the screen stay black and the Wireless led stays on in orange color and the Caps Lock led blinks 13 times. I check the errors codes and only explain to 6 blinks but mine blinks 13 times. I have tried changing the memory and HD and nothing, what else I can try? Thanks in advance...!

    Hello,
    I understand your laptop will not boot.
    You did mention that the caps lock light blinks 13 times, after that happens does the laptop go off or continues to stay on with just a blank screen does anything significant happen?  Reason why I’m asking because 13 isn’t a normal blink code, now it could be just considered one continuous blink which is normally means the CPU isn’t functional.
    Also do you ever see the HP logo screen or starting windows does anything like that appear?
    Please respond back when you can.
    Thanks

  • Blanc screen at startup / Caps lock blinking 3 times HP Pavilion dv7

    Hello,
    Hope someone can help me out.
    First we received SMART warnings but we were still able to start up Windows in safe mode (took about 15 minutes and the laptop was getting warm). We took the HDD out and connected it via USB to an other PC. We could not read the content and needed to format the disk... did NOT do that. We kept the HDD "origional".
    We bought an Samsung EVO 850 250 Gb SSD for the laptop... as replacement for the corrupted one and to upgrade the system. The main battery was removed, adaptor was not plugged in for a couple of days. Today we received the new SSD and installed it... but... the laptop is not starting up anymore! The screen stays completely blank. The F12 is lighting orange and the CAPS LOCK is blinking 3 times.
    We've read several articles on forums and tried various suggestions:
    - Changed the BIOS battery;
    - Several "hard resets":
      . removing adaptor and main battery and pushed the power button for 15 seconds;
      . Windows, B and power button at startup;
      . pressing F8 while booting;
    - build the original HDD back in;
    - removed the memory and tried all banks in all slots;
    - connected external monitor;
    - startup via bootable USB stick;
    - cleaned the cooler fans (with compressed air spray);
    - tried an other AC adaptor;
    - tried without the main battery;
    - tried to startup with no memory, no BIOS battery and no HDD installed.
    Doesn't matter what we tried... after trying every suggestion the screen stays blank and the CAPS LOCK is still blinking 3 times repeatedly.
    Anyone any idea what ik can try further? In my perception the BIOS is not loading at all?!?!
    Looking forward to read your suggestions! Thanks in advance

    Hi there @BerDie13
    Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
    I understand that you are getting a repeating pattern of three flashes from the LEDs. I am happy to help with this.
    Check out this page under the section for flashing LEDs. In that you will find that three LED flashes indicates a memory problem.
    Computer does not start and the LEDs blink or the computer beeps
    Use the instructions on how to deal with that. I am a bit concerned that you have both a hard drive failure and a memory issue, but it is possible that the memory could have been disturbed when you were working with the hard drive. If the reseating of the memory does not help, I would try the memory in different slots and if you have more than one memory module try them one at a time in both slots to isolate which is the problem child. The worst case would be multiple bad memory modules and a defective set of sockets on the board.
    Let me know what you find.

  • HP Pavilion DV-6 1211-ax - do not start, caps & numlock blink 1 time in intervals.

    Hi,
        I have HP Pavilion DV6 1211-ax, when i press power button power led gets on, CPU fan get start but no display on screen & caps and numlock led blinks 1 time in an interval.
    I have already searched about the problem and found that if caps & numkock blinks 1 time that means there is some issue with CPU.
    I took my laptop in hp service center for diagnosis, they told me that there might be problem with motherboard also and therefore suggested me to cange both CPU and Motherboard.
    So i wana know that
    1> How much acuracy is there on that particular blinking of led's on caps & numlock?
    2> Does it ever happen that led blinks for 1 time ( which means bad CPU) but actual problem remains in graphics unit or ram or BIOS ? Or is that always right i.e blinks 1 time means only bad CPU.?
    Please help me out here.Thanx
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi,
    First of all, shutdown the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter unplugged, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for a full minute.  Plug in the AC Adapter ( leave the battery out ) and see if the notebook will start.

    Occasionally my caps lock key blinks some time later my keyboard locks up what is causing the blinking and is it related to my keyboard locking.
    This blinking occurs when no keyboarding is going on.
    Back-up is not running.
    I am on-line.

    Anthony:
    The normal practice is to use the Shift key when typing a single Capital letter, as in a name or the beginning of a sentence, and the Caps Lock key to type all caps. The easiest thing would be for you to retrain your little finger to use the Shift instead of Caps Lock. I know of no way to display an icon at the bottom of the monitor to display that the caps lock key is engaged.

    Sorry to hear that. Please refer to the Blank Screen LED Error Codes document from HP Support. It sounds like a "General system board failure." The explanation says to contact HP for assistance. The motherboard might need to be replaced, and you will probably require the assistance of a technician to fix the problem.

  • HP Pavilion DV3 ( Scroll & Caps Lock LED's blinking four times + Blank Screen )

    Hi,
    I have an HP Pavilion DV3-2157cl
    When I press the power button, the screen remains blank. Also, the scroll & the Caps Lock buttons keep blinking four times.
    Sometimes, the laptop works like nothing's wrong but Most of the time, it remains blank with the blinking lights!
    Can anyone help me?

    i had a problem with my dv3 (blank screen keeps flashing) and used this method to reflow the graphics card/chip (see link below).  only try this method if you are at your wits end... and you are skilled with taking apart/putting together electronics.  it will take you a minimum of 1 hour (but most likely, about 2).  you will need a heat gun (about $10 - $20).
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SziIr34Md0g
    to prevent it from continually over heating, you can try the penny mod (google it).  that's what i did.  you basically take a penny and sand off both sides until it is the right thickness and solder it onto the heatsink.  you'll need to remove the sticky blue foam that HP used instead.
    i also noticed that a laptop cooler placed under your laptop works well for keeping it cool.  it can be fixed again and again using the method above but it is time consuming.  to prevent getting a cold connection which leads to this problem, don't move the laptop.  yes, it sucks that you can't move it but that's the only option you have.

    I have an envy 6 sleekbook and all of the sudden it wont start up and the caps lock is blinking three times i have already saw the blinking code and tried resting the memory but it still wont work , i have ran into problems with the laptop before like the blue screen but it was fixed on its own i think

    Dear Customer, Welcome and Thank you for posting your query on HP Support Forum It looks like your Notebook has a blinking/flashing CAPSLOCK light and a blank screen all the time If the Capslock LED is blinking 3 times that means "Memory error not functional", In order to resolve the issue we need to Replace Memory Module Note: If you are comfortable opening the Notebook, you can check how many memory modules you have. If you have two memory modules you can test one at a time on both the slots individually to verify if the fault is with the memory module or the memory module slot of your Notebook [Repeat the same steps for testing another memory module] If you find the above steps difficult and as this is a hardware issue and I recommend you to Contact HP Technical Support over the Phone for further assistance without any delay to get your Notebook diagnosed and serviced by an authorized HP Certified Engineer You can also Check your warranty Here to verify the warranty status Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again  **Click the KUDOS star on left to say Thanks**Make it easier for other people to find solutions by marking a Reply 'Accept as Solution' if it solves your problem. Thank You,GBL84Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP

  • HP DV7-6027EZ Caps Lock Blinking 3 Times!

    Hey there.
    So, when I turn on my Laptop, it powers up fine (fan running fast then slowing down, the led on the WiFi key is orange).
    Everything seems fine, except i get no picture on the screen.
    The little Caps Lock led blinks 3 times every 4 seconds or so. I checked and HP says this is a RAM Module problem.
    I already tried reseating the ram, didn't work.
    I just ordered 1 GB Kingston 1333MHz RAM to see if It'll work, but I'm afraid It won't.
    What would you suggest me to do?
    It wasn't a cheap laptop..
    UPDATE: Here is a Video about my issue.
    UPDATE #2: RAM Module swap didn't work. What could I do now?
    Thanks anyways,
    Cheers,
    Patrik

    Well, my RAM will arrive tomorrow, we'll see if it works or not. Surprisingly, the laptop charges like it should, everything is fine except the 3 blinks.
    I hope the new RAM will solve the problem.

  • Caps Lock/Num Lock LED blinks 5 times on bootup - HP ProBook 6450b

    Hi all members/pros, I was tasked to resolve a bootup issue on a HP ProBook 6450b and did managed to get it up and running again without much effort. The notebook Caps Lock/Num Lock LED flashes/blinks 5 times  and then pauses and blinks again 5 times. Seeked assistance on online HP support(link below) and it stated that it was a System board failure. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01732674 So then I opted to swap the hard disk tand LCD monitor hardware with with another HP ProBook 6450b which is functional but display damaged as the user was a senior manager at where I worked - Boroko Motors, Papua New Guinea - and prolong downtime was not an option. Just as I was about to get under the hood, the buggered notebook deciided to spring back to live loading onto the Windows login screen. I noiced also that I was in our server room(with much cooler temperature) that may have aided the componenets on the main borad to function so I presumed the cooling system was at fault. I then got under the hood and confirmed that the fan/vents were clogged up with dust/debris which might have collected over time. Did the cleaning and after that it hasnt failed so far... Thanks all! Get the HP ProBook 6450b service manual here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02760808.pdf

    I, recently, bought a 6735b hp laptop for $100. It does the same thing as your describe. I think the motherboard overheated. So, I ordered a new motherboard from getcomputerparts.com out of China to see if it will solve the no boot problem. I'm hoping this will solve the problem. I noticed that when I first got the laptop, second hand, that the fan wasn't blowing out, and later found a lot of dust that simply blowing it out solved the air circulation problem. I think that the heat destroyed some connections to the video or hard disk drive controller chip which made my hdd light blink on and off every second or so, and also made my Optical Drive seem to blink its LED on and off, and a slight scratching sound every second, as well.
    I also, saw on Youtube.com, a video about the nvidia video chip getting connection heat damage at the solder joints, and there was a way of putting a penny with heat sink paste after 'burning' it for a couple of hours with a hot spotlight lamp with aluminum foil around the rest of the board to protect the rest of the board other than the video chip. But, this was on another hp product that failed after 1 year, no screen no POST.
    I am hoping a 'new' system board will do the trick though, and I am spending about $153 for the part delivered, and $75 to put it in at a local computer shop.

  • Caps lock num lock blinking 4 times

    My hp pavilion dv4-2145dx will not boot up, the screen is dark, the fan is running and the
    Hard drive works. The number lock and caps lock led's are blinking simultaniously 4 times, then there is a pause and then they blink 4 times again. Does anyone know how i can fix this problem?

    Hi
    4 blinks indicates Graphics Card or Graphics Controller issue. It is a hardware issue.
    Troubleshooting LED Blink Codes or Beep Codes During Startup or Boot
    In notebooks graphcis cards are mostly integrated..so motherboard replacement may be required.
    If the system is under warranty then you can call tech support or otherwise you can check in HP Parts store for spare parts.
    Note:
    If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem

  • My HP Pavilion DV7 wont boot up it beeps three times and blinks 1 time

    I have been having problems with my HP Pavilion DV7 for the last several months. When I turn it on I get a black screen. It will beep three times and the caps LED will blink one time. When this first started happening I would turn it off and try to turn it on again. Sometimes it would take turning it off and on several times before it would boot up. Now it will not boot up at all. It just does the same thing every time. When I turn the power on I can hear the fan and the beeps and see the light blink but that is all. I have even tried to turn it on in safe mode but still get the same results.

    Hi there @texashunter00
    Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
    I understand that your notebook is having trouble booting up properly, and that you are getting a beep/LED code. I am happy to assist you with this.
    Assuming the flashing code is a repeating  single flash that would indicate a cpu problem. The beeps are commonly indicating a problem with the RAM. Please see the following, and if necessary reseat the memory cards, and see if the problem remains.
    Computer does not start and the LEDs blink or the computer beeps
    If after checking through this, you are still having the same beep/led codes, I would recommend you call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.
