Caps Lock lights up but doesn't work in Mac OS (but does in Windows)

My Caps Lock button lights up but caps do not work in any Leopard programs. If I hold down the Shift key then caps will work.
However, I have Parallels and caps lock DOES work when running Windows.
I checked the Modifier Keys settings in keyboard preferences and they are set to the default.

Hmm, that is a strange problem. Well, you've already done what I would suggest which is to go to the keyboard settings and click the "Restore defaults" button in the modifier keys window and try again. If that doesn't work then you can restart the computer and check. If that doesn't work you can try to reset the pram. Hold the optioncommand+PR buttons after you hear the startup chime, it should chime again, I let it chime a third time just for good measure and see if things look better.
If that fails then you can try making another account and seeing if the caps lock works in the new account. There might be some strange error on your account that would be corrected for in a new account. After that it gets more labor intensive. Do a system re-install, do an erase and install.
You might consider a trip to the apple genius bar there in Honolulu if can. The should be able to run through all that for you. You're still under warrantee so take advantage and get some help.
Oh, and just a disclaimer that I learned from Adam on the maccast podcast. Make a full, complete backup including a time machine and bootable (like superduper or carbon copy cloner) disk before you do any of the above or take the unit it for service.

When troubleshooting power issues, we want to make sure we have followed all steps outlined in the following article:

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
- Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
- Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion.
Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
- Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
- After at least 15 minutes, if:
               - The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. Is it wired or wireless? I had the same problem with a wireless and took it (just the keyboard) to a local AASP and they replaced it.

I have a ipod touch 4 and my ipod randomly turned off with full battery, Its not the battery and I tried holding the home button and lock button down but it didnt work... Help please!

Today i was on my ipod then i locked it then i plugged it in to charge because it was only half battery and it just tuned off for no reason and it would not turn back on..... I tried the "solution" for it but it didnt work, if anyone could help that would be great!

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Movie slows down, but the sound still ok....

The first part of a movie I completed plays sluggishly, choppy but the sound is playing fine. As I move it towards the end of the movie, that part is playing smoothly. When I opened it, I usually drag the playhead(?) up and down the timeline to quickly advance to a part I want to see. Maybe I altered something? Is there a way to adjust a frames per second or something? Please help!

Where do You store Your:
- Mac OS + QT
- iMovie program
- iMovie movie project
OK I saw that You have an iMac G4. But I just reason. And I don't know
what kind of hard disk that-one has. 4800 rpm or faster ?
When stuttering - it sometimes depends on the hard disk performances.
eg. using a miniMac + storing all on the internal hd + > 100 audio-clips
will demand a lot of the hd and in most of the miniMacs there are a rather
slow one.
Using external hard disks can be even more problematic. I did:
use an ext FW hd with all on it = lots of problems and mainly audio sync troubles.
- One can export out the audio as on .aiff file then use this to replace all
audio-clips to make things roll more even. 100 clips becomes 1 clip.

My Macbook keeps going black like it has shut down but it is still turned on. What is happening?

I have a Macbook purchased in 2008 and it keeps going black on me as if it has been shut down. When I hold it up to a bright light I can see it is on but it is so dark I can't see anything. Does anyone have any ideas what is happening?

Turn Off Caps Lock Notification (Tried many ways but none work)

I recently bought a Lenovo Y50-70 and I use Caps lock for gaming but the black and yellow icon notification for caps lock is very annoying. I have Windows 8.1 and I'm looking to looking to turn this option off.
I have researched ways to end this but have tried going into regedit, Display, Ease of Access and msconfig to no avail.
There is no Widcomm file in my registry, Display's advanced settings do not have an option and neither does Ease of Access.
I know that I can turn off all on screen notifications and therefore solve this problem but I don't want to do that. If anyone has an answer, much will be appreciated.

As I understand your problem only occur while playing a game, why not look into the game's setting?

G500 indicator light works for caps lock, but not for num lock

I have G500 laptop running windows 8.1 64 bit. I have noticed that there is no indicator light for when num lock is on. The light on the front of the computer under the touchpad comes on when caps lock is active, but not for num lock. Is there any indicator for num lock on this computer?

Since downloading update Caps Lock is backwards on my keyboards (both laptop and desk top)

I downloaded the the latest Firefox update and couldn't seem to log into any of my favorite sites. This was on my laptop. Now on my desktop I am experiencing the same thing.
My login is fine because I select from the dropdown menu. But if I have not saved my password for sites like my bank account etc. I cannot log in. I finally figured out it was the key board setting. With caps lock on lowercase, but with caps lock off upper case!
IMPORTANT NOTE: laptop is Windows 7, Desktop is Linix!

In two years of daily participation in these forums, I don't recall ever seeing this reported before. So no, it isn't a "known problem". I think what I'd do in your shoes is sit down and type a couple of pages of text while sitting on my left hand, to completely disrupt all my typing habits and force me to do everything with my right hand. If the problem continued to occur under those circumstances, I'd figure it was real and probably a keyboard fault. If not, I'd pay closer attention to my left hand when typing.

Kotoeri Caps Lock modifier doesn't work after sleep

I use Kotoeri Japanese input as my only input system, and under the Kotoeri preferences I have set Caps Lock key function to "When down input romaji". This allows me to keep the Caps Lock key down to type in English, and release it to type in Japanese. However, when I leave the Caps Lock on, close the lid of my MBP and re-open it, the input switches back to Japanese (but the Caps Lock light stays on). I have to double-toggle the Caps Lock to get back to romaji input. The problem also sometimes occurs if I just leave the machine to go to screensaver.
Is this a bug? If not, does anyone know how I can stop this behaviour?

X1 Carbon Caps Lock Indicator

The little LED on the shift key sometimes is on but Caps Lock is not on (all keys still in lower case). This is always the case when I log on freshly. pressing Shift two times to enable Caps Lock (screen indicator comes on, ALL CAPS NOW) and pressing it two times again turns off Caps Lock as well as the LED indicator. But sometimes it still behaves eradically.
Any software update on this?

QtCreator doesn't understand that I have Caps Lock and Esc swapped...

I use xmodmap to switch Caps Lock ans Esc, but in QtCreator, I still have to hit the actual escape button to trigger that key, for example I set the editor to use Vim-style editing. If I hit Caps Lock, nothing happens. If I hit escape, it will exist whatever mode the editor is in. It will also toggle Caps Lock because the rest of the DE knows that I have them swapped.

try
setxkbmap -option caps:swapescape
If it works add it to your .xinitrc/.xprofile/whatever.
Another option is adding this line to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-keyboard.conf:
Option "XkbOptions" "caps:swapescape"
