Captering with the panasonic dvx100A?

what is the best settting in the capture (fcp 4.5)menu for somthing filmd in scene file 5 with the dvx100a(24p 16:9)

24P is really 29.97 fps with a few frames combined to give you a few interlaced frames for every 2 and 3 progressive frames... kind of.
SO --
Use your normal DV/PAL 29.97 48k setting... I forget if there's one for anamorphic, but you can make one. Just EDIT the capture setting and click the anamorphic button.
Then, use the same settup for the sequence... make sure it's anamorphic and DVPAL 48k.
Good luck,

  • What battery is compatible with the Panasonic PV-GS85 Camcorder?

The battery that it came with is now busted and won't hold a charge for more than a few minutes (It had a good few years in it though, of me dropping it and what not.)
So I'm shopping for a new battery. I found a battery on radioshack's website that says it's compatible with my camcorder, and it replaces the Panasonic CGR-DU06 battery, that I bought it with. But I don't know about it, and I would prefer to be able to just pick a battery up at best buy, or anywhere really, in order to have it by this Saturday.
I found lots of batteries on the best buy website that say they're compatible with different Panasonic camcorders, but they all say "including" so I assume it's not limited to just the camcorders listed in the description, but none of them actually list my particular camcorder. Here's some links to some of the ones that may be compatible, but I just don't know for sure.

    Hi xpollypocketx,
I truly apologize for the delay in my response to this, and I'm sure that you have gotten your new battery by now. If you are still in need of a replacement battery for this camcorder we don't actually sell the proprietary Panasonic battery, but we do sell two models that are compatible with this camcorder made by Lenmar. The Lenmar model LIZ304P and model LIZ305P are compatible with the Panasonic PV-GS85 camcorder. The basic difference between the two batteries is that model LIZ304P is a 1320mAh Lithium Ion battery pack, while model LIZ305P is a 2500mAh Lithium Ion battery; the more mAh's a battery has the longer it will hold a charge.

    Hello,
I don't know when but you can send a message to Apple so they can add that in a next update (not 100% sure but you can try).
Go here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/aperture.html and in the Feedback Type select : Harware compatibility.

  • Problems Capturing with my Panasonic DVX100A

Good Day, (I have posted this problem in the past and have had little help)
I have a Panasonic DVX100A camera, a 500 gig-24 inch iMac (under a year old), and a Macbook Pro (almost 2 years old) Both computers have the Leopard OS.
Here's the problem: When I try to capture the footage from my Panasonic DVX100A onto FCE on my iMac, FCE says, "Unable to initialize video deck..." So I go to the easy set up function as I have read in previous threads.
In the FORMAT tab, I click, "DV/Panasonic DVCPRO" and continue on. As I try each setting under the USE tab, I get the same message saying:
"Unable to locate the following external devices: Apple Firewire NTSC (720 x 480)
Your system configuration may have been changed...."
I understand FCE cannot recognize my Panasonic Camera in any way, so I open iMovie 08 and try to capture my footage that way. Here's where it gets interesting - iMovie 08 on my iMac also doesn't recognize my Panasonic camera BUT iMovie 08 on my Macbook Pro does!
So what I've been doing for the past few months is capturing my footage in iMovie 08 on my Macbook Pro and transferring it via Firewire to my iMac - then importing it to FCE where I can edit the footage.
Does anyone know why my iMac will not recognize my Panasonic DVX100A in any program, yet my Macbook Pro does recognize it in iMovie 08?
    and
Is there any advice as to what I can change/programs I can install/or anything I need to do for my iMac to start recognizing my camera so I don't need to do this ridiculous procedure every time I want to capture my footage and edit it with FCE?
    Please help!

    Tom,
Im not too sure what the exact media on the tapes are, or where to find that but what I do know is that I use many different brands of Mini DV such as Fuji Film, TDK and Maxell. I don't have the technical skills attached with years of filming but I do know that all of my settings on the camera are turned off - in regards to recording mode, my "DV OUT" on my camera is turned ON.
As for the presets in FCE, (the "EASY SET UP" option) I have tried them ALL and none of them seem to make any difference. And as for the firewire, the camera has a 4 pin firewire port and the iMac computer is a 6 pin. Im not too sure how much more info you want.
The problem is, my camera - with the firewire attached to the Macbook Pro, is recognized in iMovie 08 and has no problem transferring the data, even with the exact same preference settings on both computers - yet the iMac won't recognize it in iMovie 08. I don't have FCE on my laptop so I don't know if it would recognize it as well on my Macbook.
Another thing I should mention, is that I have an older JVC camcorder that records on the same DV tapes, and works perfectly well in FCE on my iMac. I attach the firewire and it's recognized and transfers the data perfectly. (I was told that you should record the footage, and playback the footage on a computer with the same device for best capturing results. So filming it on my DVX100A and playing it back in FCE on my JVC has been an option as well - but still a silly way to work with my gear.)
The variable here, to me, seems to be my iMac and its compatibility to the Panasonic camera. The JVC works on both computers but the Panasonic only works on the laptop. I have also searched other video forums for this kind of problem, but I have had no luck. People have told me it works great on their computers.
Does this help clarify my problem?
    Thanks

  • 1080 50P PAL preset for MOV files recorded with the Panasonic GH3

Dear Adobe team and PE11 users,
With my Panasonic GH3 I'm recording 1080 50P MOV files. I bought this camera because the mov compression is much more easier to edit then AVCHD. There is already a solution for the (non english) premiere elements 11 software with a preset for 50P AVCHD files but I can't find any discussion about MOV files. Does anyone have the same problem and a solution (with a MOV 50p PAL preset). Untill now PE11 recognise the 50p files as HDV 1080 25i files in the project settings...
    best regards,
    arjan

  • Timecode sych issues with the Panasonic AJ-SD93 deck

I've just purchased an AJ-SD93 deck with just the standard IEEE connection and I can't get the timecode to sych up properly when mastering to tape.
I've rented the same deck in the past and it worked flawlessly with the RS 422 control going through SDI (using my Black Magic Extreme card). I'm trying to save the $3K worth of upgrades and master straight through firewire but the deck acts like it's working correctly but is off from between 15 to 30 frames (It seem to vary). My masters must start at exactly the 1 hour mark, so I need this to work.
    Please help!

That didn't work but you sent me in the right direction.
    What did work is:
Go to Audio/Video Settings>Device Control Presets
Duplicate your FireWire NTSC setting (I renamed mine FireWire NTSC AJ-SD93). Click "edit".
    * Change the Time Source to LTC
    * Change the Playback Offset to whatever works (mine was -25)
For good measure I changed my Pre-roll to 5 seconds.
That's it. I do get 1 to 2 frame fluctuation, but it beats spending the $3K for the additional boards.

  • OnLodation recording with the panasonic  AG-HVX200E

    Hi there:
I'm wandering if the panasonic AG-HVX200E is supported by Onlocation, and if so, what resolutions/modes are accepted (You know, miniDV, DVCPro 25, 50 and HD, and no compressed 1080i and 720i)
I ask this because in the Premiere web page, adobe claims native support for Panasonic P2, but doesn't indicate if this support covers Onlocation and Ultra, and the other softwares like AfterFX, for example.
    Thanks in advance.

OnLocation supports all resolution/frame rate formats on the PAL & NTSC versions of the HVX200. It records the video stream as either an AVI or QuickTime clip, not to the MXF format, so P2 support is not really relevant.

  • Can PE 12 edit 4K Video taken with the Panasonic GH4

Moving to the GH4 from the GH4 and wondering if PE12 can edit 4K video clips?  We are Mac users.

    rpkanee
You need to make the distincition between frame size and video file compression and wrapper format.
Premiere Elements 12 has both project preset and export opportunity to deal with import export of a file with 4K pixel dimensions (3840 x 2160). But, whether or not the codecs and wrapper formats involved will be supported by Premiere Elements 12 is not  known with any certainty. From what I have read, the 4K from that camera is classed AVCHD progressive, MOV, or MP4 formats.
Generalizing, a AVCHD.mp4 or AVCHD.mov file should be supported by Premiere Elements. I am not sure at this point what Panasonic has done with what is describing as MOV and MP4 formats which it offers in addition to the AVCHD progressive format. In the absence of a file extension for AVCHD progressive and lack of definition for codec and wrapper formats for the MOV and MP4 choices, there are no guarantees.
Do you have Premiere Elements 12 and Panasonic camera at this time? Your best answer will come from testing the specific footage from the camera in Premiere Elements 12. And, if you do not have Premiere Elements 12, you could download and install the free 30 day tryout for this purpose.
Please update us on your progress. Please do not hesitate to ask if any questions or to ask for clarification.
    Thank you.

  • Has anyone used the Panasonic BT-LH2600WP monitor with Premiere CC and AJA T-TAP?

I'm considering investing in the Panasonic 26" BT-LH2600WP to use as a color correct monitor with my 27" imac and a aja T-tap (thunderbolt to sdi adapter).  Has anyone done this or know if there are any quality issues?
    thanks
    Phil

Phil, I have a similar set up, but I have the 17-inch Panasonic SDI monitor. Premier works okay with the T-Tap, with some minor yet annoying bugs.
If I monitor audio via HDMI from the T-Tap, which I prefer, then my Panasonic monitor and its matching audio are about half a second out of sync with the iMac display. (But the HDMI audio is perfectly synced with the Panasonic SDI video.) This is annoying because both the Panasonic and the iMac are directly in front of me, and it's confusing seeing the out of sync iMac image. Definitely not something to show any clients.
If I switch my audio monitoring to "Adobe Desktop Audio," which is the feed from the iMac's headphone jack, this problem disappears. In that case, the Panasonic and the iMac display are almost perfectly matched up. However, now I'm getting lower quality audio, with added digital-to-analog processing in the signal.
Using the T-Tap is smooth and trouble free in Final Cut Pro X, but in Premier it is a bit buggy. That said, it works mostly okay.
While we're on the subject, can anyone suggest the best Preferences settings in Premier to use the AJA T-Tap? I may be missing something.
    Thanks!

  • JVC GY-HD100U or Panasonic DVX100A?

    Dear forum members,
I will be shooting a B&W short film in April. Aesthetically, I would like the look of film. I have two cameras available: the JVC GY-HD100U and the Panasonic DVX100A. I have FCP5HD on the latest 2.16Ghz iMac with 2GB RAM. My question: will I basically be shooting myself in the foot if I film in 720p24fps, or should I play it "safe" and shoot SD24p on the DVX? Perhaps I should shoot 720p30fps on the JVC?
I know the latest version of FCP5 is compatible with all formats on the GY-HD100U, but I also realize there may be other issues unknown to me.
Thank you so much for your insights and help.

    iMac Intel Core2Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

The JVC is a great camera, functionally much more like a broadcast camera with some great set up options. The big advantage is it's progressive scan 1280 x 720 resolution in HDV format. I would however put aside some pre-production time to experiment with the functions if you are not already familiar with the camera. The dvinfo.net website has lots of info to help you.
I always use the JVC with the dedicated DR HD100 hard drive which allows me to simultaneously dual record identical quality images to tape and disc, the 80GB drive will hold around 7 hours of footage. Clients love it as it saves hours of digitising but they have the security of a tape back up.
A lot of people have had problems importing the HDV footage from this camera into FCP, using the hard drive, for me, has eliminated this problem but that doesn't help if you need to recapture footage from tape later.
The main problem seems to be with takes being cropped at the beginning and end of takes by up to 8 seconds in total. I've found that setting FCP import to the minimum of a 1 second pre roll cuts this down to a maximum loss of about 2 seconds and then I make sure I leave enough pre roll and end roll on each take in the camera. I use the Apple Intermediate 720p codec for editing but you could also use the DVC PROHD codec (only 960 pixels wide though).
If you choose to use the JVC allow plenty of pre production time to experiment with the workflow that best suits you and the advantage over the Panasonic will be the improved resolution.

Using a SDHC card adapter I can import directly on my iPad2 videos (.mov) taken with a Panasonic DMC-ZS3. The same video files (same file format) imported in Aperture 3.3 cannot be synchronized with iPad. Is Aperture causing the problem?

Oh, baby! This bad boy flies!! Here's what to expect:
I had 40,000 images in Aperture 3 and it was dog slow at everything. I installed 3.1 update today. It took 5 minutes to update the database and then behaved marginally better than before at ASIC library navigation. I was disappointed.
Then I QUIT the app. It took a couple of hours to "update files for sharing" with a counter that went to 110,000 images. So it must have updated every thumbnail and variation of preview. Turned it back on , and BAM. Came up fully in seconds. Paused for 10 seconds ten everything was lickrty split. For the first time ever, I can use the Projects view with all 791 projects and scroll quickly. I even put it in photos modevand whipped thru all 49,000 images!
Haven't done anybprocessing yet, but i'm liking it!!

  • HT4101 Is the Panasonic lumix tz20 compatible with the iPad air lightning cable?

Is the Panasonic lumix compatible with the iPad air lightning to USB camera adaptor?

No reason to think its not. The USB adapter is universal. So unless there is something fundamentally different about the Lumix USB interface, or thewy way it stores images on its memory card it should work.
