Caption fonts on photo pages

An easy (hopefully) question.
I'm trying to change the template on some of my photo pages. I create a new page, then copy and paste the photos from my old page to the new page.
However, the captions use the fonts from the old template, and I can't figure out how to change them. Help!
-Arnold

Aburian,
When you paste the photos from your old template onto your new one, did you just click paste, or paste using same layout (or something of that nature). There are two options when pasting anything, you can just paste, or paste using that templates design.

  • Photo page captions

    If I change the filename for photos on a photo page to something a little more descriptive than "P000234585.JPG" do I need to keep the file extension for them to work properly?

    No. iWeb is just borrowing from the file name to use as the title. Changing it does not change the image file name.

  • Can I change the captions font?

    Is it possible to change the captions font in PSE5? Also, is it possible to change the location of where the caption prints on photos? If so, how is this done?

    > In the User Guide it is in Chapter 8, Managing files and catalogs. The section heading is "Adding captions and notes."
    Yes those are Creations - I believe that one is a slide show and the other is a calendar.
    When doing the PRINT (click on printer icon), then choosing Individual as the type of print and checking Caption in the options, I believe that the only choice is to have the caption printed below and to the left of the photo.
    Are you using the entire page of paper after you print or are you cutting out prints - like multiple 4x6 prints from one piece of paper?
    If you are using the entire page of paper, then try this - start with CREATE and then choose PHOTO LAYOUT and pick a simple layout with no background. After the layout contents display you will have the ability to place the text wherever you wish ON the photo as well as change the color and the font.
    You will be working in the Editor workspace for the Photo Layout and if you have never used the Elements Text Tool it may seem a little strange at first.
    Now with this photo layout you can do more complex backgrounds and embellishments. However if you do not choose any background when you start the photo layout, it will look similar to doing a Print.
    So I suggest that you look at the Photo Layout function and see if it looks like it will be beneficial for you.

  • Book  1.) show no metadata under the photo, 2.)add caption/text under photo

    Currently the Photo name is shown in the book under each photo. 1.) I would like to hide this information for printing. I played with the setting "enable/disable plate metadata" , but it has not impact, it shows the data no matter what this setting is.
    2.) At the same time I would like to add my captions under selected photos. How to do this?
    Thank you

    Hi Peter,
    1) For printing, I would delete the plate metadata completely. Go to Edit Layout mode, then click on the metadata box and press delete.
    2) To add captions, again go to Edit Layout mode, click the "Add Text Box" button - this places a text box on the page you're working on. You can then drag this box wherever you like. To add text, double click in the box and type away. To format your caption, click the Edit menu, then select Show Fonts. Just make sure the text is selected before you try to change the size or font.
    Hope this helps.

  • Drag and Drop to photo page creates links, doesn't replace placeholders

    I searched the discussions for quite a while and didn't find much similar to this topic. Basically, drag and drop is no longer working on my iWeb and my photo grids will not accept pictures to replace the placeholder (sample) photos. I will try to explain the whole problem in detail.
    I am a new iWeb user, and I set up a page without any problems at first. Yet when I returned in iWeb to add another photo page today, I have had a lot of trouble. I used the template Photo Page and opened the Inspector and the Media Viewer to drag photos onto the placeholder photos, as the Help pages and tutorials show. Yet when I drag the picture file from the Media Viewer into the photo grid, only a small text box appears that sets up a hyperlink to the photo file on my computer. I've tried messing with the inspector, seeing what the difference is between the placeholder photos' settings and the files I'm trying to add.
    The only differences I can see are: in the Link Inspector's pane I can tell the program is at first making a hyperlink to the file instead of displaying the photo (yet disabling the hyperlink doesn't change anything); also,
    In the Graphic Inspector pane that appears when I have selected a general area in the photo grid, at the top the "Style" , "Layout" and "Caption" options appear, along with a display of a sample photo style. When I click on one of the rectangles that appears with the file I am trying to drag and drop, I have only the "fill" option, which has "none" selected. Fiddling with the options does not get the photo to appear.
    I can see the blue grid surrounding the placeholder photos, so the photo grid exists. I have also tried using different templates' photo pages, but they all have the same problem. I also tried creating an album in iPhoto and importing it to iWeb, but only two photos appeared out of 12.
    So the main part of my problem is not that photos don't appear at all (if I try and insert them they appear on their own, completely independant of the template's style and the photo grid)., it is that they do not work with the photo grid and that drag-and-drop no longer works.
    Any information that could help is greatly appreciated.

    Susan,
    Try out the following things. These suggestions are
    sort of the starting point for non-specific strange
    behavior in iWeb.
    1. Delete iWeb preference file at:
    YourHardDrive/Users/yourname/Users/Library/Preferences
    /"com.apple.iWeb.plist"
    2. Delete iLife Media Browser preference file at:
    YourHardDrive/Library/Preferences/"com.apple.iLifeMedi
    aBrowser.plist"
    3. Repair startup disk permissions using Disk
    Utility
    4. Reboot machine
    5. Delete iWeb application (but keep a backup of the
    Domain file!) and reinstall iWeb 1.0 from original
    iLife'06 DVD or Recovery Disks and then update
    directly to 1.1.1 via Software Update.
    These are the top 5 things that seem to garner some
    kind of positive results from people having similar
    problems.
    I am having the same problem Susan described. I've tried #1 and #2 from the above recommendations and still have the same problem of photos not opening in the photo page after dragging them from iphoto. I, too, published a site (not on .Mac, but I don't know if that matters) and now want to add a photo page. Also, the template shows six placeholders, but when I select the photo page only three appear.
    Hope you can help. Thank you.

  • Navigation & Photo Page not displaying within some browsers

    Hello,
    I am using iWeb '08 and am having great difficulties trying to get my site cross browser compatible. The site is working perfectly on the Mac in Firefox 2 & Safari but not Firefox 3. It is also not displaying correctly in Firefox 2.0.0.13 and IE7 on my WinXP machine. Unfortunately the error is not just a cosmetic issue. The Main Navigation is not displaying on any page and only shows a bullet point where it is meant to be. The other error occurs in the Photo Template and the photos are not displaying. I am using a "Version 1 template" and did a test with a "version 2" template that provided the same errors.
    Has anyone else had these problems???
    The site is located at:
    http://web.mac.com/maxkit/Kai/
    Photo Page:
    http://web.mac.com/maxkit/Kai/CurrentPictures/Pages/Snowy_AprilDay.html
    The test site is located at:

    Thanks
    Max

    You have applied a height of "auto"to your menubar container, which gives it no height at all in some browsers. If you have a clue what height you would like to display for your menubar, give it, instead of:
        <div style="height: auto;" id="p7PMM_1" class="p7PMMh04">
    Better yet, leave it in the CSS file, where you will find it when you go looking for it. You already assign a height there:
    .p7PMMh04 {
        width: auto;
        height: 20px;
        margin: 0 auto;
        font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
        font-size: 11px;
        font-weight: bold;
        background-image: url(http://home.roadrunner.com/~jgigandet/trinity/img/new_bk.gif);
        background-repeat: repeat-x;
        background-color: #000;
        text-align: left;
        line-height: normal;
    Because your inline style of height:auto; has more proximity (is closer) to the element being styled, it overrides the style in the stylesheet and applies the height: auto; instead of allowing the height: 20px;

  • Albums and Related Photo Page Not Working and IE when Files Local

    OK this is a tricky one for me.
    iWeb 3.0
    Building and testing a site from a local folder on my MBP
    Create an album page, add an album from Aperture save and publish to local folder ( Sites )
    Looks great in Safari
    Testing in Windows XP (vmwear on the same machine) - Firefox works perfectly BUT Internet Explorer 7.0 and the albums will not show on the page. Manually type in the url to the related photo page and and no photos display and clicking the play slideshow does nothing.
    HERE IS THE FUNKY part!! I tested a page from Old Toads site with demos of albums and it works PERFECTLY in IE. A check of the source and it too was created with iWeb 3
    Tried a simple test site and same issue with local files.
    So here is my question to you: Would there be any reason albums would not be working when in a site is being tested from a local file file folder?
    Thanks

    The plot thickens...
    I prefered to test local to review changes and test in all browers without dealing with ftp etc. Good idea at the time but MSFT is too quirky...
    I loaded the site (FTP) to my host and the albums work fine in IE... Bottom line is testing from local folders is not reliable in IE... Safari and FireFox are fine...
    Side note: Most websafe fonts also sucked on IE (clear type on) so I went with images for various small text blocks. The overhead of the png files is small in the name of quality. Also no chance to get the nav bar to work with IE so that was all manually done.

  • Photo pages not appearing in IE browsers

    Hi,
    Now that I've worked out image quality issues in iweb 08, currently testing my published site (temporarily in protected directory test mode). Through Safari Develop Tool I've checked various browsers and all browsers display my site correctly except IE browsers. In all IE browsers I'm noticing the photo pages are not displaying my image thumbnails except captions. Hovering and clicking the mouse over where the image should be visible brings up the slideshow and images do appear. The photo album pages are less then 12 pictures per album; images have been optimized. So this is not the problem regarding the thumbnail pages. So what could it be? Javascript issues?
    Frustrated because this one issue is preventing me from displaying my site live! Of course, I could just forget about PC users but I have products I want to sell and don't want to lose potential customers. One peculiar glitch on a website scares people away.
    Been searching all over the internet for answers but growing more confused. Although new to safari's develop tool and unfamiliarity with javascript fixes, curious if clicking on debugging javascript would be a remedy. If so, what would I need to do to fix the disappearing images? Or, should I just accept that iweb 08 and IE are incompatible and inform my visitors to use non-IE browsers such as Safari and FireFox? Such a letdown!
    Help most appreciative!
    Cheers, June

    I figured it out!!!
    Somewhere along the way, the following permission class got added to the pagedef's of two of the pages but not the others

        <privilege-map operation="personalize" privilege="personalize"/>

      </permission>once i added the permission class to the other pages they showed up in the navigation model.

  • Photo pages don't show photos after iWeb upgrade

    I loaded the upgrad yesterday for my 08 iWeb and now the photos that I published prior to upgrade don't show up on my site. Strangely, the Album page shows the photos in each album, but when I click into the photo page itself, no photos are visible and also the "index, play slideshow, subscribe" don't work either. Any new photo page I created after the upgrade looks fine. Everything looks clean in iWeb software itself. Photos don't show up on the site. What's up with this? Thanks for the answers.

    Mine is doing the exact same thing - thought the update would solve the issue. The drop down menu says there are missing fonts, then it tells me to put the photos on the page again, which is ridiculous. iWeb '06 to '08 is the problem as anything added to it since upgrading to the latter works fine. Apple won't seem to acknowledge that they've introduced incompatible software, which is more like the doings of Microsoft.

  • Is it possible to add a caption on each photo of my album ? Thank u

    Hello,
    Is it possible to add a caption on each photo of my album Iphoto ? Thank you for your help.

    By album do you mean a book? If you mean a book then the answer is only if you use the one theme that provides a text box for each photo, Folio, which only has a 2 photos per page layout.
    If you want to add text directly on the photo you would need to use a 3rd party image editor or a watermark application.
    Some Image Editors that support  layers:
    Photoshop Elements 9 for Mac - $79
    Rainbow Painter - $30
    Imagerie - $38
    Acorn - $50
    Pixelmator - $60
    Seashore - Free
    Portraits and Prints - Free
    GIMP for Mac - Free
    For watermarking apps go to MacUpdate.com and search for "watermark" to get a list of possible candidates.

  • Photos page and anchors

    Hi, everybody--
    Let me start by saying that I have searched these forums for information on anchors. I have seen the solutions put forth by Old Toad, Wyodor, & Cyclosaurus, plus I have Cedric's iWebFAQ.org eBook & have read the chapter on anchors.
    My problem is with the Photos page & how it generates anchors. The first photo is #0, the next is #1, and so on. There's also a #grid anchor.
    I have added a lot of text above my Photo grid. (This is because if you put text below the grid, then click one of the photos to see it bigger, the grid does not push the text boxes down on the page and so the photo displays on top of the text. Not good.)
    When I click on any of the photos, let's say the 3rd photo for example, the address bar changes to <MyURL>/PageName.html#2. That's good; that's what's supposed to happen.
    The problem is that the page reloads up at the top, and the user must scroll down to see the photo. (This is true no matter which photo is selected.) Once the user scrolls back down to the photo, they can click on other photos and the page stays there; it's only the first time they click that this happens.
    In trying to solve this problem, I have tried all of the solutions listed above. None of them seem to work for the Photo anchors. At first I thought it was because the navbar is #0 and that was forcing the page to go to the top, but that can't be it because it doesn't matter whether you choose the first photo (#0) or the last (#65, in my case); the page always goes to the top.
    Can anybody shed any light onto what is actually happening & how it might be fixed?
    Many thanks.
    -Michèle in San Diego

    photos page functionalities controlled by a hosts of ajax/javascript widgets.
    the first ajax widget populates photo grid with thumbnails, data are from photos page rss.xml .
    three other widgets set up the thumbnail strip, the detail view (slideshow place holder) and caption, prev, next controls.
    everything described above is on the same page.
    photos page anchors are not ordinary anchors, they are used to turn on/off different elements (on the same page).
    when you click on the 3rd photo, one piece of javascript turns off the the photo grid and another turn on the 3rd photo in detail view... in the process, the page view is reset to the top.
    so, by know how to get to detail view in DOM; you can scroll to that section using Scriptaculous Effect.ScrollTo method: http://temp.cyclosaurus.com/Test/Photos.html
    you are on your own, because I no longer post code in these forums.

  • Help with detail view on photo page... no help from previous post!

    I posted these questions a few days ago and although people have been looking no one has any suggestions yet...
    Is my request too complicated?
    Old Toad, Wyodor, Cyclosaurus... would you have any tips?
    Many thanks
    I am using iweb to create my site and have an album that contains photo pages. I used a web widget / HTML snippet, to jump from my album page straight to 'detail view mode' on my photo page.
    I'd like to customize the look of my 'detail view' a little (I'm using the 'White' Theme).
    I have removed 'subscribe' and 'download' and do not have a slide show.
    How do I:
    1. Remove the text 'previous', and 'next' that appear under the image leaving just the arrows?
    2. Change the look of those arrows (from 'canvasarrow-right03.png' and 'canvasarrow-left03.png' to 'canvastransport-left-N03.png' and 'canvastransport-right-N03.png')?
    3. Remove the arrow that is next to 'Back to album' leaving just text?
    4. Change the font and colour of this text ('Back to album') to Aerial Regular 12pt caps, 65% black?
    5. The thumbnails have a blue frame to indicate which image is in large view, how do I change the colour to an orange?
    6. Remove the buttons in blue and grey, top centre (that change the view from thumbnails and large pic to just large pic)?

    I can't change the "Sending Page" because it uses custom "Filtering & Sorting" to drill down to the addresses..
    Once the User has "Checked" the records to be mapped, they click the Map button, and it takes them to this Detail page (with the ID's in the URL)
    Now that you mention it, the Detail form does have all of the Form fields/wkRptID's (for each of the addresses) on the page.. but how would I iterate thru the form data of each record, and grab the wkRptID's and add them to the WHERE statement..?
    Either way, once I have the Query correct, it is then fed to my Google Map to plot the addresses..

  • Create a photo page and have the photo's link to other internal pages

    really basic quesiton, sorry but I can't do this for some reason. I created a photo page that is going to be a menu page to link to some internal pages. for some reason the Enable as a Hyperlink is greyed out and I can't click on it to make the image a hyperlink.
    Any help or suggestions?
    Thanks

    What you need to do is place a shape over the top of the image, then using Inspector, Graphic Tab give it an Opacity of 1% then you can make the shape a hyperlink.
    The imageholders on the photo page cannot be used as hyperlinks.
    Alos you must giv ethe shape an opacity of at least 1%, if you try 0% it will not work.

  • Need help making photo page look clean,Time to show up on Google? Photoshop

    Just bought this Mac 2 days ago and am trying to make the switch. I was computer illeterate on my Dell as well but so far this program is pretty neat. I am trying to get my photo page cleaned up. I would like all the photos in a single row across the page with only one photo displayed underneath. I have seen a few demos with that done but I cannot figure it out. Ideally a slideshow would start automatically but I really just want a cleaned up page vs. a blob of photos.
    My site is http://www.greasysideup.com
    The picture demo is here http://www.apple.com/ilife/iweb/#album - the scuba picture on the far right of the iweb showcase is the look I am going for.
    Additionally how long does it take to show up on a google search? I am following one of the listings on here on how to do that. On the google search pages there is a brief description of the page as well, I believe it is the title page. How do I make Google say how cool my site is? if it ever shows up on google?
    Last question - is there a program on my Mac similar to photoshop? I want to do some simple 3-d looking text angled slightly as if it is coming out of the screen with my name and the name of my business.
    The other thing I want to do is take this picture, make the background black and make the planes orange or red then put those in the background on one of the pages.
    /Users/joshwilson/Downloads/Yak50_profile.jpg
    (I need to learn to post a jpg in the forums as well I guess!!) The photo is the last one on my website photo page labeled Yak 50_profile. I want to make the background black and the outline orange.
    Thanks for all the help. This site is great! I think I'll be glad I made the Mac Switch.

    if i clear the book so that it is all blanks and then try to load in the pictures i have it loses the chronology of the pictures that i had established in the album.
    is there a way to import photos into an ibook template and keep the original order of the photos without having to do them one at a time?
    also, is there a way to insert a photo rather than just dragging it? i have tried the cut and paste funciton but it doesn't seem to work, the target site doesn't seem to register with iphoto.
    many thanks for your help.

    Photos are added to book in chronological order.  So if you want to add them to a book in the order you have placed them manually in an album do the following:
    1 - select all the photos in the album.
    2 - use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date menu option as shown here. Select any date and add 1 minute between photos.
    3 - select just one photo from the album and create a book from it.
    4 - in the book click on the Options button ➙ Book Settings button and make sure the checkbox for Auto-layout pages is unchecked.
    5 - drag the album with your book photos onto the book icon and they will be imported into the Photos tray of the book in your pre-determined order but not into the pages themselves.
