Caption Options in Slide Show

Is there anyway to have the caption come in separately from the photo or to add some kind of animation to it?  Thank you in advance.

Hi GaryMoody,
I consider that you are referring to the caption for the basic slideshow. It is not possible to add animation to it. I would appreciate if you can add that to our ideas section over here, http://forums.adobe.com/community/muse/ideas

  • Unable to use  transition options in slide show

I am unable to get the transition options to function properly on iPhoto 6. I always use the "effects" control box for each individual image, setting speed of transition and the picture's length of time on screen. The only one that works is the default/dissolve. The other transitions seem to work when I choose to set the slide show to music but that sets one transition for the entire slide show. Surprisingly, I sometimes can get those other options to work when I used the control at the bottom of the screen, the one right below my choice of converting the image to black and white or sepia. But it worked for the first few slides before it stopped. When I played the slide show, it defaulted to dissolve. When burn slide shows to iDVD, only dissolve transitions are enabled. How can I get the other transition options to work?

Have you tried deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, found in Users/Library/Preferences? First quit iPhoto, then delete the pref file, then restart and see if the problem resolves itself.

  • Captions truncated in Slide Show mode

I have a web site that I designed using iWeb 08, and like to use the full 7 line captions for pictures in some gallery pages. This works fine in normal viewing mode, but I also have Slide Show enabled; when you try to view in this mode, the black square pops up, showing the picture and controls, and works OK except for one thing: you only see about 3 lines of the caption, and there seems to be no way to scroll it.
Does anyone have any insight on this, or know whether there is some obscure setting that I have missed, which would allow viewing the entire caption in Slide Show mode?
    Thanks

Justin, I am having the same problem as you. I will look into what Cyclosaurus is saying to do, but it is probably a bit complicated for my brain. One thing you can do without any coding, is to space down your captions 3 or 4 times on the page where the full size version of your picture is. Then, your captions will not have a line through them when viewing in the slideshow mode that includes the thumbnails. Also, the full truncated captions will not appear in the true slideshow. I have the first line showing and then I spaced all the rest of the description down. It is hard to explain, so here is an example that I am working on for a friend. http://www.karenmardis.com/TheJewels/Pages/The_ExpressionsCollection.html One thing to note, your page has to be at least as tall as what the longest caption will need. It's a bit clumsy but it worked for me. Hope that is helpful.

  • Disable Full Screen Option in Slide Show?

I'd like to be able to watch slideshows in the iphoto window & Not have it take up the full computer screen-I'm a multi-tasker.
A few versions ago, that was possible, but the option was removed.
Is it possible to achieve this in the latest version? I'm using 9.5 (902.7).
Thanks in advance for any help.

Use the Preview button rather than the play button. That way it will play in the window.

  • Can we please have an option in slide shows widgets the slide show to stop when hovered?

Can't believe this common feature is not there. Thanks a lot.

Dude, your annoying. I was answering a question, so it would say I have 0 unresolved questions. What if a google search pulled up my question, though not as popular as the original coverflow thread? I know Apple already fixed this issue, but I wanted to make my question answered. A) because it could be helpful, if google pulled up my specific thread and B) I was tired of having an unresolved question in my menu whenever I logged on.
Think about it before you post something idiotic and rude.
If you work for Apple, I am sure you could appreciate this, but probably not.

  • How can I create a DVD (not CD) slide show with PSE8. Is the only option CD?

Do I need to upgrade to PSE9 for the DVD option for slide show output?

No, you can't create a video dvd with just PSE, and PSE 9 is no different from any other version where this is concerned. (Adobe wants you to use Premiere Elements.) However, if you have a DVD burner, you must have gotten some kind of software with it that can make a DVD for you. Create your slideshow, output as WMV and then use your other software to burn the actual video disc.

  • Create Slide Show

I am using PE Ver 9. When I create a slide show, I select "Include Photo Captions as Text", but the text does not appear. The very first time I tried this it worked, but not since. Also, is there a way to control the text size and font for the captions in a slide show? I also have trouble with the way a slide show orders my files. I have named them in such a way that they sort properly when sorted by name in Windows Explorer. When I create a slide show, the slides are not in the same order. Do I need to rename all the files to get the sort order I want?

I'm not sure why your captions are not showing up. How are you adding the captions to your images?
Yes, you can change the size, font, color, an several other characteristics of the caption text. Simply click the text to select it and you will have options under the Properties panel on the right. If you are asking if there is a way to change them in bulk, I'm afraid the answer is no.
The slides will appear in the order that they are displayed in the Elements Organizer. It does not look at the order of the files in Windows Explorer, nor does it depend on the names of the files. The Organizer displays images based upon the age of the image, oldest or newest first. If you click the Display button in the upper right, you can switch to Folder Location view, which will put the images in alphabetical order. The down side to this is you can only see the images from a single folder at a time. So if your images are in multiple folders, this will only get you part of the way. You can also create an Album, which allows you to customize the order of images anyway you want, but it all has to be done by hand.

  • Photo names in slide shows.

Hi. Simple question. I can see how to add captions to a slide show (under preferences) but I would like to know if you can add the photo name to it (Besides the obvious of copying the name to the caption)? I'm using Photoshop Elements 6.0 on Windows Vista. What I need to do is take the photos, put them in a slide show, and give to a friends family so she and they can look at them and pick out which one(s) they want to print. With the photo names it would make life a lot easier. Thanks.

  • Sudden Change to Slide Show Display/Presenter View Greyed Out

Two weeks ago powerpoint was acting normally. I would come into class, hook my netbook up to the projector, set my monitor output option to extended desktop and start my slideshow in presenter view. This morning I went into class and I was unable to use
presenter view. It was greyed out. I had to clone the displays and wing it without my notes. Also, the slideshow itself *looked* different. There was an orange menu bar at the bottom that I could not get rid of. Has this happened to anyone else?

    Hi Michelle,
Do you mean the "Use Presenter View" option under "SLIDE SHOW" tab on the ribbon is greyed out for you?
When you are in the "Slide Show" mode, please try to right click on the slide and see if you can select the "Show Presenter View" from the context menu.
Have you ever made any changes to your computer recently? You might want to try installing any required updates, including updating your graphic card driver to the latest version, then try again.
"There was an orange menu bar at the bottom..." - Is it possible to share a screenshot of it with us? You can send the file to this email account:

  • Multiple slide show

I'd like to add captions to the slide show in the given site.
I'd like to run the captions directly below the photos. Can any of
you java script geniuses help with the coding? Thanks.
    http://www.inspirationalphotographybycheryl.com/portfolio.html

    Thanks Alan for your help!
Would I be able to use a menu selection for this (thus
allowing choices for the slideshow) as I have in my current
slideshow? I'm referring to the side menu of portfolio choices, not
the navigation menu. If so, where and how would I connect it to the
    java script?
    Thanks again.

  • Web Gallery Slide Shows:  Music and Captions an option?

The title sums up the question. Can web gallery slide shows (on my .Mac account) be made to look and sound like the slide shows i'm running in iphoto - with captions and audio?

    Mark:
You can get the captions to be displayed in the web gallery by running this script to move the description to the title field before you publish the gallery. After the gallery is published you can change the title back to the file name with the Photos->Batch Change menu option.
Have you considered using iWeb to create a photo page/slideshow and add the music to it. Here's a test page of such a setup. Be sure to read all of the comments on the linked page as there's a minor error noted in the script that is easy to correct.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Captions not displaying in iphoto slide show in my iPad 4

    Hi
I am trying to create slide show in iphoto and  want to add caption/text/title in that...I am able to add captions to the photo in edit mode however it doesnt show in the slide show...also I am confused about iphoto versions...my iPad show version 2.0.1 however the discussions I saw on this forum point towards iphoto 9,10,11...
Please help me with my problem as I want to create a nice slide show with photos, text and music

Slideshows on the iPad (or on any handheld device) do not support titles, only the slideshows in iPhoto on the Mac do that.
In the settings you can select a theme, select music, and set the spped, and that is all there is,  see:  http://help.apple.com/iphoto/ipad/2.0/#blnkd19951ed

  • How do I download a slide show with captions and music to my IPad?  It is not happening when I sync.

How do I download a slide show with captions and music to my IPad?  It is not happening when I sync.

The way that you would transfer photos from iPhoto to the iPad would be to sync with iTunes. Connect the iPad to your Mac with the cable and launch iTunes. Select your iPad under the devices heading on the left. Then click on the Photos tab in the iTunes window on the right. You can select the folder from which you want to sync your photos in the drop down menu bar - so select iPhoto there. Then select the album or events that you want to sync from the windows below. After you have made your selections, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
I am not sure how the iPad will handle a slide show in the photos app that was created on your Mac. You can create basic slide shows on the iPad using the different albums, events or faces that you have in the Photo app, but as for the captioning that you have already set up, I don't know how that will work in the app when you sync the slide show.

  • Set Font Attributes for Slide Show Captions

PSE v.6 - When creating a slide show, I can select to "Include photo captions as text" when adding slides. The font of the included text is basic with no effects (I want it to have a drop shadow). Is there a way to set the default text attributes (color, font style, drop shadow, etc.) before adding the slides or change the text on all selected slides instead of having to do it one slide at a time?

well you can add captions below the slide , if you double click on a slide and move it , it can move around , hence you can add a  caption below the slide by slightly moving up the image .

  • How can I arrange the order of pictures in a slide show and add a caption to each?

I go to:www.photoshop.com/users/name. Then to My Gallery and click onto the album name then to "slide show." I want to reorder the pictures and add captions. How?

Go to your photoshop.com website. Log in if needed. Click on "Online Tools."  Choose "Photoshop Express Organizer."  Click and drag photos into the order you want.
Captions might best be added in the Elements Editor Organizer (99jon is correct) by double-clicking on thumbnail to make a full screen image, then a line appears under the photo and asks you to print your caption there. Sync it with your online website.
