Captions (in Organizer): how do I display them for easy editing?

Hi All,
In PSE5, I was able to easily add/edit a caption for any photo while working in the Organizer. It would display a edit box for easy viewing/editing of the caption below each picture. But PSE7 seems to no longer have that feature. Does that mean we have to use menus EVERY time we want to add a caption to a picture? I hope there's a way to do this without the extra mouse-clicks or keystrokes. I know it sounds trivial, but think about entering captions for hundreds of photos...

My mistake, in PSE5 I was able to enter captions directly on the screen when viewing a photo full-screen. Same is true in PSE7...
It would be a nice enhancement though if we could enter captions directly in the thumbnail view in Organizer without having to use menus. It would be nice to be able to SEE our captions here too.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
I don't think you can. You might ensure that their creation dates are in order, but I'm not so such that will help. Ordering seems to be a feature limited to use with iPhoto/Aperture.

Your post indicates you have used Cydia, which is a software application for iOS that enables a user to find and install software packages on jailbroken iOS Apple devices. Since your iPad has been jailbroken, we can't help you in this forum. Best bet is to Google for answers.
Plus your Apple warranty has been voided and the Apple Genius Bar/Support will not help you.

Either projects or events. You can make a compound clip in a event used to hold favorites. Add a couple of generator items to it and apply the custom transition. You can copy and paste from the compound clip to any project. Hold everything you want into the one event. It probably won't ever get very big, and the render files can be dumped at any time. You can simply move the event from machine to machine or place to place as needed, just as you can other custom content, like keyboard layouts and custom color presets.

This is probably a new precaution that Apple has taken to alert folks that something has occurred with their account that has not occurred before*, namely a Mac has downloaded something from their account that has not done so before. And as the notice says, if it was you doing so, then you may safely ignore the notice. Also, do not be alarmed, Apple refers to all downloads as purchases, even when they are free.
But if you are truly concerned about the notice then you can authorize the Mac with your iTunes account, which should be the same as your MAS account. Open iTunes on the older Mac and sign into your account. Then in the Store menu choose Authorize This Computer. Now this Mac is definitely associated with your account and can now play media that you purchase from the iTunes Store as well.
*My banks do the same thing when I pop up making a purchase with my bank cards somewhere in the world I have never made a purchase before. They call me and email me and want to know if it is indeed me using the card.

How to install display driver for Satellite A running Win XP?

I recently got rid of Vista from my Satellite laptop and had XP installed.
I need to install the display driver (For ATI Radeon Video Card) which I had to download from this site.
How do I install the driver?
When I go to reinstall the driver the system can not find it.
What am I doing wrong or what do I need to run first?
There are so many files I am not sure..I tried running set-up but that did not help.

How to set Portal Theme for WDA iView different from user's Theme

Hi Experts!
I have dual-stack system: ABAP server + Java. I have WDA application in ABAP server and I deployed it to NW Portal via iView (using template).
There are two themes customized:
1: Standard - to be used for all iviews except WDA iviews. This theme is set as default for user.
2.: WDA theme - to be used for some WDA iviews IRRESPECTIVELY what them is set in personalization settings of the user.
So my question is:
Can I somehow set the Portal Theme to be used for specific iView no matter what Theme user has selected in his personalization?
Or if its not possible, can I set some specific Theme for WDA application?
So taks is to overcome settings for default portal theme for user and replace it with different theme. Is this possible?

Are you using an LDAP as your UME, or are the user records from from R/3 ?
Apparently (Ive never done it) you used to be able to force a default language by editing this file (back in the EP5 days):
<J2EE root>\WEB-INF\portal\system\properties\prtDefault.properties
Look at the following lines :
This is the default language to be used when none is specified
request.defaultlanguage=en
request.defaultcountry=us
If you prefer to have the same language for all users no matter their user locale, change the lines to this :
This is the default language to be used when none is specified
request.mandatorylanguage=en
request.mandatorycountry=us

did you say 'yes' to all? i may be confusing the name of the entry, too. it's in the administrative tab in the menu (whatever it's called. 'system', maybe. usually the last one on the right) and it's usually something like 'login manager'. you might want to look at the menu editor and see if it's been somehow unchecked from the menu.

Best display profile for video editing

Among the choices you see under Display Profile on a Mac, what is considered "best" choice for video editing, so that you can assess color, exposure, etc. in your footage as you edit? I have always used Adobe RGB (1998), but realize that I have no knowledge about whether that's a good choice.
What do the 'good' editors use (to differentiate them from guys like me)? Do top editors calibrate their monitors for video editing? Any insights into this would be greatly appreciated!

there is only one setting for Final Cut; Generic RGB
This is an apple stipulation, its how Final Cut must be set up, choosing any other profile will cause problems with any out put files you create.
Do top editors calibrate their monitors for video
ICC colour management is designed and can only be used for still image files eg. so while you can calibrate a computer monitor it can only be used with still image files; TIFF CRW JPEG PSD. ICC profiles are not recognised by Final Cut Pro or QuickTime.
The colour management system used in video involves using video scopes, an accurate PAL or NTSC colour monitor and tools like the 3 way colour corrector.

MBP vs. iMac Display: Better for Photo Editing?

Would anyone care to give their opinion of the display pros/cons of using a MBP vs. iMac for photo editing?
I have been considering getting a new iMac, and I would like to do photo editing (somewhere in the middle between professional and iPhoto). First I thought 20", but then I learned about the relatively poorer display quality. Then I thought 24", but still had concerns about gradients. Then I waited for the new (Penryn) iMacs, but it sounds like there hasn't been an obvious improvement in iMac display quality. Perhaps a MBP would be a better bet.

The quick answer depends upon the quality of work you intend to do:
1) Are you a general amateur photographer? As long as you perform your own color calibration of the display, and NOT use the dull color profiles Apple provide, you're fine.
2) If you are a PROFESSIONAL performing color management on your images then the answer for BOTH the MacBook and MacBook Pro are NO. You are kidding yourself if you think you will ever get full accurate colors on their LCD displays.
All of Apple's LCD laptop displays have, up to this point, been only 6 bit color capable. A professional requires full 24 bit color, which is what the human eye is capable of seeing, which requires an 8 bit color capable display.
Note: 6 bit color = 262,144 colors. (It was incorrectly listed above). 8 bit color = 16,777,216 colors. This is a drastic difference. Apple use an FRC dithering method to fake the other colors, but this by no means equals real 'millions of colors' depth.
Do not use an iMac as the same 6-bit color depth remains the case. You must use either a VERIFIED 8-bit LCD display (note- one of the Apple Cinema Displays is ONLY 6-bit, so buyer beware), or use a CRT. The CRT still provides more colors than any LCD display, AND you don't have to worry about the viewing angle problem that plagues most LCD displays. (Shift your head up or down, right or left and you will see the contrast and color quality of lower quality LCD displays change. This ruins them for professional use).
