Captivate 1.0 Not loading

HELP ME!!
I've got Captivate 1.0.1188.1188 and every time i click the .exe it's loading the Splash screen then doing nothing. The app won't load at all after the splash.
I'm using my work laptop (Dell Latitude D430) and it's worked fine for a fair while.
All of a sudden, yesterday, tried opening it and nothing.
I've seen similar threads on here and have followed all of the tips provided.
I've also had our Tech service desk uninstall/re-install the latest flash and also un/re the captivate file. I've also had my network profile re-built to see if it's a profile error/restriction and still nothing. Our tech guys are stumped (althought that's not too difficult )
Any help? I'm desperate...
Cheers

Hi there
That version is pretty long in the tooth.
Okay, so things we don't know.
I'm using my work laptop (Dell Latitude D430) and it's worked fine for a fair while.
What are the resources on this PC? How much free disk space do you have? How much RAM? I know you said it was working okay for a while, but obviously something changed. What operating system are you using?

Sorry, but that doesn't really help us much. We need to know exactly what you have tried already that failed to work.
I've also had my network profile re-built to see if it's a profile error/restriction and still nothing. Our tech guys are stumped (althought that's not too difficult )
I know they rebuilt your profile, but what about creating a totally new profile as if you were a new user? Use a totally different name. Sometimes when a network admin tells you they rebuilt your profile, they may mean they copied the existing one and tweaked it. That's not the same. If they copied something that had an issue, they carried the issue along with the copy.

  • Captivate 4 will not load up.

    Hello,
I have just installed captivate 4 and everytime I try to load it up, it does not load. Gives me the green Captivate screen then shuts down. I have reinstalled flash. It is Flash Player 10. I am not sure what to do can someone help. I am on windows xp os and have a HP EliteBook.
    Thanks,
    NizarRogers

I just ran into this problem with Captivate as well. I uninstalled Flash Player 10.1 by going here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
I then downloaded an archived Flash Player here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html
It seems the main installer does not incorporate the Active-X version of Flash that Internet Explorer needs. There should be several Windows installers in the download. For example, I used Flash Player 10. The following Windows files were in the package:
    •    flashplayer10r45_2_win.exe
    •    flashplayer10r45_2_winax.exe
    •    flashplayer10r45_2_win_sa.exe
Install the first one and second. The second file is the Active-X Flash version (I’m thinking “winax” means Windows Active-X), which Captivate needs to run. I don’t think you need to install the last file (“win_sa”, I’m thinking the “sa” stands for stand-alone).

  • Captivate 6 will not load in Mac

I tried to start my Adobe Captivate this morning and received a message that the Java app needed to be updated. I accepted  and once the download was done, I tried to start Captivate and the program will not load, and the below message appears:
Did that happen to any of you? What is the fix? My Mac OS is 10.9.1

  • Captivate Trail is not loading

I have downloaded Captivate 3 about 10days back and was
working fine. Due to some other reasons i formatted my system and
re installed Captivate 3 again. Captivate takes me to a screen
choose to give "Serial Number" or "Trail Version". But it doesn't
allow me to run Trail and throw me a error "A Problem encoutered
while trying to load the trail period for Captivate 3"
And asks me to re-install or reboot the system
    blah..blah..blah.... and nothing works.
Can some one get me out of this. :(

  • Adobe Captivate 3 does not load

After installing Captivate 3 and using it successfully for a
week. All of a sudden the program will not open. It gets stuck at
the "Copying First Run Files" then the splash screen disappears.
How can I solve this? I am completely lost and out of ideas.
    Thanks in advance,
    Eric

    Welcome to our community, Eric
You might need to reset the Captivate Settings file. (I call
this "Whacking Captivate upside the head").
    To reset the settings file:
    Ensure Captivate is closed.
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following location:
    ?:\Documents and Settings\????\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe
    Captivate
Note that ? represents the drive letter you are using and
???? represents your logged in user name.
Rename or delete the file named
    captivate_v30.dat
Restart Captivate and hopefully things will be improved.

  • Preloader Not Loading Until The Start of Lesson In Captivate 7

I created a Scorm 2004 compliant lesson using Captivate 7. The file size is ~7MB. When I load and run the lesson on our LMS I don't see the preloader until 3-4 seconds before the file loads. I'm staring at a blank screen for about 45 seconds before anything happens. I have the preloader set at 10% but I can't get it to work.
I loaded the file to one of our FTP sites and ran it on an html page and it does the same thing.
Our customers are asking us why there is no indication that the lesson is loading and all I can say is it's a problem with Captivate 7.
I upgraded to 7 because I was told the problem was fixed, but it's still bad.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

Yes, it's set to look in the Cp7 preloader folder. I found this on a Captivate website and I think it answers the question.
"As mentioned, preloaders are only really applicable for HTM/SWF output. But what you may not realize is that they will only work if the content is served from a web server over HTTP. Conversely, the preloaders will NOT work if the same content is served up from a LAN server drive over TCP/IP.  This is due to the fact that SWF preloaders need to communicate with the server to calculate and show the percentage of file currently loaded.  This communication works with web servers, but not with LAN servers."
Unfortunately, Cp7 preloader is going to work on our LMS. I'm going to build a preloader class in Flash and call the Cp7 swf using that.
    Thanks for your help

If you still have Captivate 6 on your PC, then make sure that the preloader in this Cp7 project is not pointing at a folder in the Cp6 install directory.  It should be using a Cp7 preloader.

  • Captivate 9 Not Loading in WINXPsp3

My office just purchased multiple licenses of Captivate 9 to use on our computers.  I successfully installed it on my pc with WindowsXP service pack 3.  Whenever I click on the program's icon nothing happens.  It will not load.  How do I try to fix this?  Thanks!

    Hi,
Does it gives you green loading screen when you click on Captivate icon and does not proceed further or it does not launches at all?
    Regards,
    Mayank

  • When I publish projects with AICC reporting enabled the SWF "breaks" and does not load.

When I publish projects with AICC reporting enabled the SWF "breaks" and does not load. If I change the publish method to SCORM the SWF works, and if I turn off reporting the SWF also works.

OK.  That makes sense now.  Captivate 6 changed over to Rustici's LMS drivers.  Cp7 must have made even further changes that mean you must have an LMS present if you turn on reporting.
I would suggest you just turn off reporting while you are testing other aspects of the course functionality during development, and only turn on reporting when you are ready to upload to your LMS.

  • Captivate 4 will not open specific file

Recently got a new PC. The IT guy who got it set up for me transferred all of the files on my hard drive over to the new one. I then installed Captivate 4 on the new PC.
Now, I'm attempting to open one of the .cp files and it refuses to open. I see an indicator that the project is loading, but when the indicator fills, nothing happens. Captivate never actually opens the files. I am able to open other Captivate files on this drive, but of course this is the one I was in the midst of editing. I tried changing my .bak file to a .cp file, but same thing happens.
I moved the file to a network location and a colleague attempted to open the file and she had no difficulty. So...I think all of my data is still there; I just can't get it open.
    Any suggestions?

Captivate 4 was never approved for use with Windows 7, so it's not surprising you're having an issue.  I've known people (myself included) that were able to install and run Cp4 on a Win7 box, but others were unable to do the same.  I appears that not all Win7 installations are exactly the same and some allow Cp4 to work while others don't.
You can of course try using some of the compatibility settings in Win7 to get Cp4 to work.  Try the ones that allow apps designed for WinXp.  That's your best bet.
If none of this ends up working for you, your next best option is to upgrade to a later version of Captivate.  Be warned though that Captivate 7 does not open Cp4 files.  So if you have a lot of legacy content in .cp file format, you'll need to upgrade them all to CPTX format by opening them in either Cp5, 5.5, or 6, before migrating them to Cp7.

  • Captivate 4 update not recognizing that Captivate 4 is installed

Downloaded the patch but when I run it, the splash screen loads and states that Captivate 4 is not installed on my machine - only option provided is to Quit the update. I'm running this on Windows XP and Captivate 4 has been working fine with the exception of lousy image quality. I wanted to try the update to see if this fixed the graphics issue. I tried the update install from a folder on my desktop and also from the Captive 4 program file folder - same results. Any ideas?

  • Presenter files not loading

We use both Adobe Captivate and Presenter with our LMS. We only have intermittent problems with participants launching the captivate swf files from the standard Captivate HTM page. We can usually solve the issues on an individual basis. With Presenter, however, we are having significant issues with the content not loading. We use the SCORM.HTM file produced by presenter to launch the content (and we upload all of the files in the "package" created by presenter). Many (but not all) participants get a new browser window with nothing but a white screen and the word done in the lower corner. Can anyone tell me what is different about how these two HTM pages "load" content and why one will load the SWF file and the other will not? Is there some scripting missing?

    Hi,
Can you please check following points in the published file; in which you are facing the problem.
    1) Publish the presentation without Zip package checkbox unchecked. Are we able to play published swf?
    2) If Published swf is playing fine. Then again publish the presentation with "Zip package" checkbox checked. Upload same zip file in the scorm server.
If you still face issue after step 2 then please let us know the scenerio; the LMS settings and if possible please share the file.

  • Captivate 7 preloader not working - with screen captures for clarity

    Hi Community,
so I'm working in the Captivate 7 trial version, because the preloader for Captivate 6 isn't working for me. We have a ~48MB project with mp3's on almost every slide, flash videos, flash animations, quizzes and plenty of jpegs.
Before we publish the project we make sure we click everything that's needed, but because it's still not working I took screen shots of all the settings. Maybe I'm missing something, I would appreciate your help.
    Thank you guys so much!!
    Nat

I'm assuming here that your preloader animation is at least appearing when you are loading the file so that you KNOW it IS working.
Try setting your preloader progressively higher until you find the percentage at which the load times start INCREASING again.  If you have a lot of videos in your project, setting the preloader at a very low value like 10% doesn't necessarily affect the load times that much because Captivate still has to load a certain amount of the total number of assets before it can start to play anyway.  It could be that you have a whopping great event video right near the start of the project and that's what is causing the lengthy delay.
If your issue is still with the preloaders NOT appearing at all, then the only settings that would affect this are the ones on the Preferences > Project  > Start and End > Preloader path and percentage.  The path looks to be fine, but if preloader animations are not visible at all, try changing to a different preloader.  Maybe only SOME of them work.  The Default.swf preloader is usually reliable.

  • Widgets not loading in Chrome

    Hi,
Does anyone have any ideas about learning interactions not loading in Chrome (39)?
I am just starting out with Captivate - tested a word search in Chrome, all I get is everything greyed out with the loading boxes it then goes to white and plays the rest of the slide. Images/text work ok.
I have replaced the index.hml file as prescribed by the 'Chrome Fix' to no avail - probably missing something obvious.
    Thanks.

Uploaded to Google drive and re-tested with success.
