Captivate 2.0 Very Buggy After Import of SWF File (Flash 8)??

Where should I begin...
Issue 1
I just updated to Cap 2 and started using it. I have come
across a few very weird issues. Everyting works fine until I import
a swf file to the stage. After I import a swf file to the stage I
realize I made a mistake in the swf file. So I updated the swf in
Flash 8 and publish it. I then went into Cap 2 and tried to update
the file (which I noticed that the update button has been removed.)
When I go to import and import the updated file, it does not update
it. I had to close the program and reboot before it would recognize
the new file??? Sounds like a caching issue of some sorts, but very
buggy in my eyes.
Issue 2
So now I have the new file in... great! But when I try to use
one of the drop down menus from the top tool bar, the menu
disappears immeditly after I have clicked on it??? The only way to
get my menu's back is to close the program and reopen it.
Issue 3
I just recently found another problem... I was trying to work
with Cap 2 in its crazy state, and I pulled one of the bars on the
timeline torwards the end of the screen and the timeline
disappeard??? So I went to view and clicked timeline... no change.
Now I do not have a timeline??? I have tried running a reapir and I
even tried several different new projects with different swf files
to see if it was just that file and I have the same results.
Sorry so lengthly on my issues but this just sucks and I need
help!! Anybody got any ideas!??
Thank you!!

Hi SaSQuaCh69247,
Issue 1 :- Select the SWF file in library, right click, and
select update.
Issue 2 :- Actually it could be valid for Issue 1 also. It
seems like SWF file you are trying to import, does some action
like, importing another swf or connecting to server on the first
frame itself. Captivate will try to play the first frame of SWF
when you import them. Try creating a keyframe with the stop action
as the first frame in your SWF, and see if you still have the
issue.
Issue 3 :- The approach I am mentioning over here is
generally the last approach which I will take in such scenerios,
but since you have already experimented a little, so try this.
Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application
Data\Adobe\Adobe Captivate
Rename captivate_v20.dat as captivate_v20_org.dat.
Restart Captivate Application.
thanks

  • Preloader loads very late after importing sound files

ok, here's another preloader question for you people out
there. i finally had a working preloader code, everything was in
frame 2, my preloader was in frame 1, and it worked quite nice.
however, after importing some sound files to the library my
preloader started to appear very late on the stage (like after 90
percent). could someone tell me what can i do? i'm guessing it has
something to do with "export at first frame" option.

  • I am unable to import a SWF file in Premiere Pro

Please indicate how to import an SWF file into Premiere Pro. I tried to import as an movie, but it would not work.

    Hello,
As of Adobe Premiere Pro 7.1, you cannot import FLV files directly into Adobe Premiere Pro. While working with FLV footage, use Adobe Media Encoder to import the FLV files and transcode the FLV files into a supported file type. For example, use the H.264 format.
After Effects and Adobe Media Encoder still support the import of FLV files.
FLV file export is still available within Adobe Premiere Pro.

  • How can I import a .swf file in Adobe Flash CS4?

    Hi,
How can I import a .swf file in Adobe Flash CS4?
    Thanks.

you can use file/import but that would be a mistake.
you should "load" your swf, not import it.
if you want to load it and need help, are you using as2 or as3?

  • Importing a SWF file into AS3 FLA

    Hi,
I've imported some SWF files I've built, under base class
    flash.display.MovieClip, into an AS3 code-only (Flash 9 on
Macintosh) file. The visuals work fine when I call
    importedMovieClip.play(), but there's no sound.
My current method is pretty simple:
    - Import the SWF into the library with classname
ImportedMovieClip and base class of Movie Clip.
    - var importedMovieClip:ImportedMovieClip = new
    ImportedMovieClip();
    - theBackGroundSpite.addChildAt(importedMovieClip,
    theNightSky.numChildren);
    - importedMovieClip.play();
I've done a workaround by building and importing separate
soundtracks but since there's a fair bit of animated lip-synching I
am not keen on having to do this twice and would prefer my imported
SWF to bring its soundtrack with it.
Obviously I am missing something ... How do I access the
soundtrack within an imported SWF? Do I setup another SoundChannel
using the imported MovieClip, or is there a MovieClip property I
need to switch on, or is there some other method?
    Cheers
    Dougal

You do not want to import an swf file.  You should either load it in dynamically or copy and paste its timeline into a movieclip symbol in your other file.

  • Captivate 7 - How to publish into a single swf file?

Our Authoring tool has been designed to cater for Captivat swf files for video uploads. Now that we have upgraded to Captivate 7 the swf - is merely a 'holden cache file' the video content is saved in the .mp4 file. Our programmer tells us that it will take some time to reprogramme this. Is there a way within the Captivate 7 publishing settings to still create a .swf file which will be able to stream the entire video content when uploaded or to generate a single swf file with all content?
Thank you so much! We are trying superfast to adapt to all the different changes and really appreciate you input.

OK, only solution I've found is to use a 3rd party program - try cutePDF.

  • Can I import a swf file (created in FC) into Flash?

Can I import a swf file (created in FC) into Flash?
...also, do you need Flash Player 10 to play these files?

Just did some testing here, and Flash Professional definitely does not like Catalyst projects. Importing to the stage failed silently (gotta love that), while Import to Library appeared to work - I got a MovieClip in my library. However, the clip is empty. I'd guess it is as Chris said, having to do with the fundamental differences in the Flex framework from the way Flash Pro works.
As this did spark my curiosity, I decided to give loading the Catalyst-created project into a Flash Pro project at runtime using ActionScript. I was able to at least get the Catalyst content to appear through this method, but the effects (in this case, a simply button with a Rotate3D effect applied) was a mess.
So the simple answer is "no".

  • Help importing a .swf file from Flash CS5.5 to After Effects CS5.5

I am working on animating a person in flash.  I have a main timeline and then a timeline inside of a symbol so I can move
the characters facial features (eyebrows and mouth etc) apart from moving his entire body.
I want to have multiple scenes so I am importing all of the .swfs into After Effects and putting them together.
However, when I import the .swf into After Effects, it only plays what occurs in the main timeline
and not the timeline inside of the symbol, so it is just the character moving without the facial movements.
Is there a way to fix this or a better program to import the .swfs into and make the video?
    Thanks in advance.

Here's the note from After Effects Help aboutt he limitations to SWF import:
SWF (continuously rasterized) Note:  SWF files are imported with an alpha channel. Audio is not retained. Interactive content and scripted animation are not retained. Animation defined by keyframes in the main, top-level movie is retained.
The limitation that you noticed---that only animation in the top-level timeline is retained---is not one that can be worked around without changing how your animation is set up in Flash.

  • Modifying the number of records to skip after importing the flat file

I imported a flat file and the first row was the column header. I also created an external table for that flat file. The sqlldr is skipping the first record during the load. Is there a way to change this in the flat file module or External table?

If you marked this row as the header in the sample wizard then you will see the following in the External Table:
    ACCESS PARAMETERS (
    RECORDS DELIMITED BY NEWLINE
    CHARACTERSET WE8MSWIN1252
    STRING SIZES ARE IN BYTES
    NOBADFILE
    NODISCARDFILE
    NOLOGFILE
    SKIP 1
So the external table is skipping this.
Now the issue with changing it is interesting because you cannot change this after the sampling... I think this is a bug which I will file.
Let me know if this answers the question,

  • How do I import a .swf file into Final Cut Pro 6?

A client has given me a .swf file for use in their commercial. What is the best way to import this file to play full screen full motion?

The Final Cut Pro manual is very misleading. It says:
You can import any files that are recognized by QuickTime, including:
    * Video files: QuickTime Movie, AVI, and Macromedia Flash (video only—you won’t be able to play any audio portions).
But Apple have since removed Flash support from QuickTime so these files can no longer be opened. The best thing to do is ask the client to deliver the file to you as a QuickTime movie.

  • Cannot import a swf file

Hello - I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm using Powerpoint
2007 and adobe presenter. I've created SWF files in both captivate
and camtasia. So when I try to import the swf into powerpoint using
presenter, nothing happens. I click import swf, choose the file, if
I click the preview button I can see it, but when I click "open" it
does not attach to the slide. I can't see if it I preview the
presentation and there is nothing in the manage swf option either.
I am at a total loss so any advice would be helpful.

should anyone else have this problem ... it turns out I needed to upgrade PanoPlayer

  • CS3 is acting very buggy after installing my new monitor.

    Hello,
I have been using CS3 since it was released on my powerbook with an old generation 20" lcd apple display. A buddy just gave me a samsung 244t lcd and now bridge doesn't show any previews or toggled changes unless I drag the bridge window out and back into view. I.E.: in the folders panel. If i toggle open any drive or folder nothing happens unless the window is dragged out of frame or minimized and brought back to normal view.
I have reinstall cs3 , purged cache ...... ANY THOUGHTS????
SYSTEM : 1.5 ghz powerbook with 2 gigs ram.
    thanks

If you have that external Samsung LCD monitor connected through the digital video output of the MacBook, disconnect it from there and hook it up to the ANALOG output of the MacBook through the monitor's analog output.
You will need to buy a different adapter and cable if you don't have it, but it's the only way. I went through months of aggravation trying to solve a problem with my wife's MacBook, and that's how I finally fixed it.

  • "unable to open project file" after importing layered Photoshop file

After spending a day of work, I saved and closed my 720p project. Today, I can't open it. I get a message saying: "Unable to open project file." Same thing happens with the auto-saved copy.
I have narrowed down the problem to this: I made a new 720p project file. Without doing any work, I import a single layered Photoshop file (.psd), then save and close the project. When I try to open it, I get the message again: "Unable to open project file."
Works fine at home. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    PPJ

I'm just now having the same problem, though I'm using FCE 3 . I can open older (NTSC) files. Just not new HD files that I have also blindly used alpha+Photoshop layers in. When I create a new HD file with a few HD clips in it and even use an audio track from the project I'm wanting to make, and use TIFF versions of the graphics and save it, it will open right up -- but something about these PS files.

  • The edges of my text appear jagged after importing a .PSD file. How to eliminate

I'm doing an introduction to a film with animated graphics, and what I'm noticing is the text edges are pixelated. I adjusted the Resolution in Photoshop so I can zoom in and they're much smoother; however, upon reloading the file in After Effects it's much larger than my composition and I'm not sure how to re-size it within the existing file.

    Reduce the layer's Scale property.
