Captivate 2 on Windows x64

I'm disappointed that despite Captivate 1 installing and
working fine on Windows XP x64 Professional, Captivate 2 doesn't
install at all. Seems that the only knowledgebase item for this is
"not supported on x64".
Other Adobe products also seem to have installer issues with
X64. Will Adobe resolve these soon? I'm looking to update both
Captivate and Robohelp but won't do so unless they are supported on
my latest machine. So far this appears to be simply a matter of
fixing the installer. BTW, what is so different with the Captivate
2 installer vs Captivate 1 (which as I said, works fine)?

I don't have Windows XP x64, so I'm guessing at a few things
here, but...
Have you tried running the installer in Compatibility mode?
This often allows you to run executables that are not native to
your version of the operating system.
To set the Compatibility mode for the installer:
1. Right-click the installer and select Properties.
2. Click the Compatibility tab.
3. In the Compatibility mode group, click the Run this
program in compatibility mode for checkbox.
4. In the drop-down, select a Windows version (Windows 2000
or, ideally, "normal" Windows XP if that's an option).
If this process works, you'll probably also have to repeat
the process for the actual Captivate 2 executable file:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 2\AdobeCaptivate.exe
Best of luck and let us know how it works out!

iTunes 11.2.2 for Windows x64 will not successfully install.  Removed prior iTunes, and still will not install. 10.7 installs just fine, but constantly asks to upgrade to 11.2.2.  Any Thoughts?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component won't install normally.
If needs be, the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility (MS Installer "Fixit") may be able to help force through the installation.

• How to install apex on windows x64 with 10gR2?

Hello,
today I tried to install the http-server for our 10gR2-database. We are using windows x64.
But I cant find OHS for this release. How can I install apex then?
Regards,
Mark

have you tried the installation, or did you just ask in advance?
in the last wekks i did a lof of installation stuff on an x64 system using the old x32 versions. even oracle sw like 10.2.0.3 client etc.
and most oft the stuff was up and running just like on an x32 system.
just keep in mind that the directory structure an x64 is slightly different #
if u install x32 software the default installation path is "C:\Program Files (x86)" and in the registry a speacial key hklm\software\wow6432node
just in case you need to patch.
in my opinion it would be worth to give i a try, but remember not on a productive system.
i'd like to hear about your results

• J2SE 1.4.2 for Windows x64 bit download link

Dear All,
Can any one give me the link to download J2SE 1.4.2 for Windows x64 bit architecture?
Your help is highly appreciated.
Regards,
Syed

There should be no issues with using SAP JVM from the start.
Probably no notes because is straightforward:
- Extract the SAP JVM (e.g. c:\sapjvm_4)
- Set JAVA_HOME (c:\sapjvm_4)
And start installation as per guide.
We have done this recently with Solman 7 EHP1 and NW 7 EHP1 (J2EE stack).
We did have issue on central instance install where the J2EE instance would not start part way through installation (server0 continually crashed and restarted with memory issues) so we had to adjust the instance settings as per SAP Note#1603093, before retrying in SAPINST and continuing.
We had this problem with both Solman & NW 7 EHP1.

• Oracle Express Database - Windows x64

At the risk of being seriously repetitive, I'll post a question I have seen in various forms for approximately 3.5 years. The user community needs to have a specific, fact-based answer to the problem of no x64 support on Windows. In several threads one can find via Google, people purporting to be Oracle representatives claim a supported version will be available "soon". Soon in my neck of the woods generally means a time frame less than 3 years, but what do I know. Can someone please, please provide a definitive statement of direction on this issue, and assuming this is coming "soon", it would be overwhelmingly wonderful to have a specific date. My company plans/desires/hopes to release software that would embed an Oracle Express db, and frankly I'm about to throw in the towel if I can't get some visibility to this question. As I've heard from many ex customers, "there's always Sql Server".
Regards, Roger Carter, President, DBConnect Solutions, Inc.

Thanks for the update. I followed up with Oracle internally via our Oracle Partnership channel, and they checked with the VP of development responsible for XE. The official response is "there is no date where this will be provided for Windows x64. It is, however, under consideration." In my 25+ years of working with Oracle, I will give you my translation - it is not going to happen anytime soon, and to your point, it will probably be version 12 before you see anything. For us, this is a huge disappointment, and it means we will be abandoning many thing with Oracle. It's my view that they don't care about this vertical one bit.

• Oracle XE on Windows x64

Hello, is possible to install Oracle Express Edition on Windows x64 ? When I try to install I get error "Error: 1719 The Windows Installer Service could not be acessed"

Hi,
In fact, Oracle didn’t have a x64 version for Oracle XE, but usually 32 bits softwares run without problems in x64 platforms ... Have you checked out if is there any O/S user's privilege issue related to this problem?
Cheers

• 11g R2 - 2 node RAC on Windows X64 2003 Server

hi
we are soon going to start building a 2 node 11g R2 RAC on Windows X64 2003 server
questions
1. In 11g R2, is creating 2 disk group DATA and FRA still considered the best practice?
2. On which disk group should we place the OCR and Voting Disk
3. If there are issues placing OCR and Voting Disk on ASM (there definitely appears to be some concerns / reported issues on this), is using OCFS2 still a viable option?
4. Can someone point us to a document such as step by step installation of 11g R2 RAC on Windows with ASM or best practices 11g R2 RAC on Windows?
thanks

A bit late maybe, but you can check Note 811271.1 - RAC Assurance Support Team: RAC Starter Kit and Best Practices (Windows).

• Installation XE 11. on Windows x64 ( 64-bit) 2008

Dear All ,
I want to know if latest XE edition is certified on Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) 2008 OS ?
We have installed specific version on Windows x64 (64-bit) 2008 OS.
We get the following error :
OER 7451 in Load Indicator : Error Code = OSD-04500: illegal option specified
O/S-Error: (OS 1) Incorrect function. !
and there is a respective Doc ID :
Note 1060806.1: OER 7451 in Load Indicator : Error Code = OSD-04500: illegal option specified
Action Plan
========
1. Install 64-bit version of Oracle database software.
2. Upgrade the database from 32-bit version to 64-bit version.
Can we use Oracle XE on specific OS ?

Hello,
I want to know if latest XE edition is certified on Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) 2008 OS ?No. See XE's System Requirements for details.
Similar error messages have been reported here before, e. g. in {message:id=10665775}.
It seems possible to get XE started on 64bit Windows, but it might be a hard fight, especially on a server OS with other possible traps..
Can we use Oracle XE on specific OS ?Sure, all certified 32bit Windows versions or 64bit Linux versions would be fine. See {thread:id=2278170} to get a full report.

• Hyperion Planning on Oracle DB 11.1.0.6.0(Microsoft Windows (x64))

1. Is Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 certified to work on Oracle DB 11.1.0.6.0 (Microsoft Windows (x64)) ?
2. Is Oracle Database 11.1.0.6.0(Microsoft Windows (x64) certified to work on Windows 7 Pro 64bit ?

You also do realize Hyperion Planning/Essbase/... is not supported on Windows 7 Pro. If you wish to install on a supported operating system install on Windows 2003 Server x64.
Yes, 11.1.0.6 is supported as a database for Hyperion 11.1.1.3 - review the certification matrices for Hyperion at: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/hyperion-supported-platforms-085957.html
No, Windows 7 is not a supported platform for 11.1.0.6 databas - review http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b32305.pdf
You can also located supported platforms with say 5 minute software with say 10 minutes of using google. If you do not have this much time to put towards the installation then you should not be installing as you should review all installation documentation before proceeding as it is at least a full day activity to do it properly (even after you have done it 20-30 times).

• Windows x64, EMET 4.1 and Spotify

I am running Windows x64 Home Premium with EMET v4.1. So far everything has been fine. Yesterday I tried to install Spotify and got an ESrror 53. When I contacted Spotify, they said "Error
53 is usually due to restrictions in place on the computer."
I then tried installing Spotify on my Windows Home Premium x32 laptop, also running EMET v4.1 and it installed fine.
Anyone able to install Spotify client on x64 with EMET?
I did try disabling features in EMET as part of the troubleshooting process.

does removing the emet client resolve the issue? The normal EMET mitigation's don't protect services but rather user mode applications. It could be changes to system wide mitigations though possibly

• Client installation on Windows x64

Hi,
We have a server running Windows 2003 Server x32, with Oracle version 10.2.0.1.0.
We have a terminal server running the 10.1.0.2.0 client, which connects to it perfectly.
We have built a new Windows Terminal server, running Windows x64. We are having some issues getting the client to work. Firstly, we installed from win32_11Gr1_client. The connection worked fine, but when we ran the third party app that we utilise, it continually gave us connection issues, and the third aprty advised we needed the 64 bit edition of the client.
We installed that, but couldn't get a connection at all. The app uses a Windows ODBC connection, and the x64 client only let us create 64 bit ODBC connections that our 32 bit application can't utilise.
At that point, we were asked to install the 32 bit client. Using the 10.2.0.1 x32 client install, the application fails to connect at all, using the same (we copied the file) tnsnames.ora, which I'm guessing comes down to some difference in the ODBC package, as I'm aware the clients are supposed to be cross version compatible. I CAN connect from SQLPLUS, but the app just says "connection failed".
Any of the following bits of advice would assist with our problem:
- How can we install the x64 client, and create ODBC connections that an x32 app can utilise?
- Why doesn't the 10.2.0.1 client (same version as the server) appear to want to talk to the server?
The vendor is unfortunately of a position that we are effectively on our own, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

• No PKCS#11 support in JDK 6 Update 14 for Windows x64?

Hi there,
I successfully installed GlassFish 2.1 on Windows 2008 x64 with JDK 6 Update 13 for x64. Everything was ok until I wanted to access my USB token with a certificate on it trough an EJB.
I then had to reinstall everything based on 32-bit versions. Now it works again, but I'm not very satisfied with the solution because I wanted to have everything based 64-bit.
Why JDK 6 Update 14 for Windows x64 does not contain PKCS#11 support? When you have look to the x86 version support is available there.

If you load successfully your pkcs11 lib into java 32bit mean that the lib is 32bit.
You cannot load a 32bit native lib into java 64bit ( http://java.sun.com/docs/hotspot/HotSpotFAQ.html#64bit_native_porting ).
If you find the 64bit lib for your token, you should be able to use java64.

• Jdk-7u3-windows-x64 installation issues

Hi,
I've just download the jdk-7u3-windows-x64.exe and jdk-6u30-windows-x64.exe and tried install them on my window 7 professional service pack 1 platform, but both installations failed with the error message "...\jdk-7u3-windows-x64.exe is not a valid win32 application" and "...\jdk-7u3-windows-x64.exe is not a valid win32 application". However, when I install with the jdk-6u26-windows-x64.exe and jdk-7-windows-x64.exe, it's fine. Please help me how to fix the issue to update the new java package.

Thank you, Gimbal2. It's really strange, but it's true. I give you some screen snipping as following:

• Windows x64 and recently released Sounblaster Live! 64 bit driv

I downloaded the new SB Li've! drivers (Creative Sound Blaster Li've! x64 Driver (2.23MB) released 2 Augh 05) - uninstalled all Creative programs and all Audio drivers on my system, and proceeded to install the drivers as instructed. I reboot my system and I get sound...but only in my front left, front right, and subwoofer. I go to my sound and audio settings, switch my advanced settings to 7. home theatre, and still only the 2 front speakers and the sub are working. Why would Creative release a driver that doesn't work? Any help? [email protected]][email protected] or AIM = t0ide
I've been trying to make this thing work since I've been using Windows x64...about 5 months now. Any help is highly appreciated.
