Captivate 3 files into Captivate 1 original

Hello All,
I've created some Captivate files in Captivate 3. (Trial
Version)
I have the full version of Captivate 1 (original). Is it
possible to open Captivate 3 files in Captivate 1 (original)?
Thanks

Hi learning_still and welcome to our community
Unfortunately it's not possible to do this. The best you can
do would be to open each version of Captivate. In version 3, open
the project you wish to "convert" to version 1. Note the dimensions
of the project.
In version 1, create a new blank project of the same
dimensions.
Now from version 3, copy the first slide. Paste into version
1. Rinse and repeat until each slide has been copied and pasted. I
haven't tried this, but you may be able to select *all* slides and
paste. That would save some time.
Note that any items that version 1 doesn't support won't be
copied, including question slides.
Hopefully this was helpful in some way... Rick

  • Flash Source Files into Captivate 5

    Hello All,
    Need some help. I had some files developed by a client whom will remain nameless, and I promise not to mention anything about them because your experience may be better than mine. I have flash source files that won't play nice on this new LMS. I would like to take the source files and import the files into Captivate, so I can use Captivate to publish the course originally derived in Flash. Can someone explain to me how I can make this happen and maintain the functionality that I have in the swf files.
    Chris.

    So you have a course developed entirely in Flash and you have the FLA source files and want to import these into Captivate? If that is what you mean then unfortunately that is not possible.
    Although Flash and Captivate are "similar" you cannot import a whole FLA file into the Captivate authoring environment like that. You can import animations, widgets and relatively complex Flash stuff into Captivate by inserting this as an animation into a Captivate slide but not a complete course.
    If you want to use Captivate for your course then unfortunately you will need to create the course in Captivate from the start.

  • Bringing Flash .swf files into Captivate

    Greetings,
    I use Captivate 2.0. I have been trying to bring a Flash .swf
    file into Captivate with very little success. The flash file is
    clickable (so that users can review case study information as they
    complete Try It simulations). When I bring the Flash .swf file into
    Captivate, it works. However, correction (or failure messages)
    display every time the user clicks the Flash .swf file. Is there
    anything that I can do within Captivate to stop this issue?
    Ideally, I would like the Flash .swf to run on top of the Captivate
    file so that users can view the case study details without having
    to see the failure messages.
    Please let me know if you have any questions about this. I
    hope it makes sense to you.

    Hi Zabcde (or PMW or P?)
    Can I just understand (sorry for being thick) your situation.
    You're trying to get a flash movie into a captivate session that
    the user can work on, see, interact with whilst they're also going
    through a Captivate simulation (try it)? Does that mean that slides
    are advancing for the simulation whilst you're watching the flash
    movie? Or are they watching the Flash movie as a kind of help to
    then go and do the Try It session?
    If it's the first, then I would suggest calling the Flash swf
    and the Captivate swf as seperate instances in flash (using
    loadmovienum or something). If it's the second, you should be able
    to remove the failure captions from that slide so they don't bug
    you.
    Apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick though
    Cheers

  • How to import .exe files into Captivate

    I have some Flash .exe files that I want to import into
    Captivate so I can combine the files....and also so I can choose
    the properties for the files (for example, either to run on a loop
    or also to take to a website upon completion).
    So, how do I import .exe files into Captivate?

    Hi Steve
    Unless you can find some sort of a converter out on the web,
    I think you are out of luck. I am aware of the SoThink SWF
    decompiler (
    http://www.sothink.com/product/flashdecompiler
    ) but I'm somewhat doubtful it will work on .EXE files. Perhaps it
    will.

  • Inserting html5 Captivate files into existing web page.

    I have an existing html file that I want to import a Captivate html 5 file into.
    In the past I would import the SWF file. Since SWF is not widely supported I am trying to use the html5 option
    as a work around.
    What file do I insert instead of the SWF?
    Kind Regards,
    -Robert B

    This is not a Dreamweaver question as much as it is a Captivate question.  See the Captivate forum below:

  • Other problems with loading Captivate files into Flash AS3 project

    I have a Captivate file done with Captivate 3, published to
    Flash player 9 that is being loaded into Flash AS3. The captivate
    is a simple recording of some mouse clicks in a browser. I am
    displaying the playbar along the bottom, and its buttons all work
    fine except for the progress bar, where you can drag the knob and
    scrub back & forth in your presentation.
    This progress bar is not working as it should. I see the
    mouse cursor change to a hand, but when I click I cannot drag the
    knob to control the progress bar. The other buttons in the playbar
    do work (replay, pause, play, back, forward).
    This is a unique problem in that it is only happening when
    viewed in IE (7) when loaded into my Flash AS3 project. When viewed
    in Firefox in my project, or as a standalone SWF, or as a SWF
    simply embedded onto a plain HTML page, it works just fine.
    Does anybody have any insight?
    Another thing I notice with loading Captivate files with AS3
    is the the amount of output messages it displays. Rather annoying
    (unless this is a "feature" I've yet to be aware of - heh)

    Hi,
    I know exactly how you feel, there is simple answer; replace
    Captivate for Camtasia Studio 5 at techsmith.com. The weight on
    those shoulders will be gone! You'll smile more, be more
    socialable. One Happy Person.
    I am very happy person ;)

  • Can't import .avi files into Captivate 4

    I need some help, I'm getting really frustrated.  My project consists of about 10 short movies (2-3 minutes each) with quiz questions between the movies.  The movies were produced in Adobe Premiere Elements 2 and exported as .avi files.  When I go to import the files, I get this error:  "This AVI file cannot be converted into a Adobe Flash file.  Conversion aborted."
    I have tried converting the .avi files into .flv files (using Flash Video Encoder CS3), but that doesn't work for us for two reasons.  Captivate won't display the .flv files while in edit mode; it will only play them after the entire project has been produced.  After the project has been produced, however, the video of the .flv displays, but the audio from ALL of the .flv files in the project plays at the same time, rendering all of the dialogue unintelligible.
    I have been trying to solve this problem for a couple of weeks now, but I'm not getting anywhere.  Is there a specific codec I should be trying to use here?  Is there another process I should be using?  Is there a way that I can resolve the .flv issues?

    I'm OCD about this sort of stuff, too!
    I just insert my .avi files as animations, and that seems to work fine, so I'm no help there.
    I don't know enough about codecs to even comment. *sigh*
    And, my problem with .flv's has always been the other way around. When I insert an .flv, it always asks for the absolute path (like C:\Videos\VideoName.flv). Then, right before I create the .zip to upload to the LMS, I have to edit the path to VideoName.flv, and then check to make sure the file is on the .zip root, otherwise it won't play on the LMS 'cause it "can't find the file."
    Sorry I couldn't be of any more help, but if you're like me, at least you can get your work done while this eats into your mind and eventually drives you crazy. *grin*

  • Flash file into captivate playing slow first time

    Hi.
    I am very new to flash but have been using Captivate for
    awhile now. I am trying to create an animation in flash of a book
    flipping pages. I have 9 jpg images of the various stages of the
    book flipping. When I import the first image into Flash it asks if
    I want to include the entire series of images. I said yes to this
    and now I am stuck. When I test the movie in Flash it plays slow
    once and then really fast after that.
    I saved it and imported it into a captivate project and the
    same thing is happening. It plays really slow and choppy. If I
    navigate away from the page and then come back to it, it plays
    really fast (faster than I'd like but I'd prefer that to slow)
    Any help. I searched on the Flash forum and found someone
    else with this issue but they never got a response.
    Any suggestions would be great. I am sure I am missing a step
    here but I just can't figure out what it is.
    Thanks,
    Kim

    When you say you play it, in either Captivate or Flash, do
    you mean
    locally or that you upload it somewhere and play it back
    through a web
    browser from that website location?
    If the former, then I'm not sure. If the latter, sounds like
    the images
    are Very Large and it's taking a while for them to download
    in order to
    play...but once they're downloaded and 'cached', the file
    plays quickly.
    How large are your published SWFs? What format are your
    images? What DPI?

  • Is there any way to import an htm or swf file into Captivate

    I have a huge problem. I created a class in Captivate and
    published to a server. The .cp file was saved locally to my c:drive
    (mistake, I know) in the Captivate folders. I went through a move
    with my office and my PC was moved. Perhaps coincidentally, after
    the move, my original .cp file is gone. I've searched all folders
    on my computer, including deleted folders, and it's not there.
    However, luckily the published files are still in the shared
    directory on the server. Is there anyway to reverse the publishing
    process and get my original .cp file back?
    Thanks for your help! Patty

    Hi Patty
    Unfortunately there is no way to decompile a project from
    .SWF or .EXE back to a source .CP file. Personally, I've been
    campaigning for a decompiler for a long while. But so far it seems
    to have fallen on deaf ears. I don't believe we will see any real
    effort put forth to have one unless Adobe hears from enough users
    asking for it. If you would like to add your voice to those that
    would like to see one, please
    click
    here and complete the form you should find there.
    Just as a side note, you were
    NOT
    making a mistake in storing the project on your C drive!
    Actually, the mistake is most often made by keeping the project on
    the server.
    Where you probably made a mistake is by not placing
    a backup copy somewhere. (Even the server is a good place for a
    backup)
    Best of luck to you in reinventing your wheel. At least you
    have the output file to guide you along!
    Cheers... Rick

  • .WRF Files Into Captivate

    I am new to Captivate and I would like to upload my .wrf
    files and publish these using Captivate. A .wrf file is the
    proprietary player that WebEx uses to record WebEx conferencing
    sessions. Can anyone help me out with the process to use Captivate
    to publish these .wrf files?

    A poster in another thread suggested recording the recorded
    presentation using a screen recording tool like Camtasia to get the
    material into a format Captivate can use:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=67&catid=464&threadid =1304073
    It may seem strange to record a recording, but it's actually
    a pretty smart way of quickly converting to an entirely different
    format. However, depending on the screen size of the WebEx
    presentation, it might be a real bandwidth/performance hog when run
    via Captivate. Something to consider.

  • Cannot insert wav files into captivate 6

    I'm currently using Captivate 6 on the Mac. I have WAV files that I want to insert for audio. When I try to insert the WAV file I get the following message "Unable to import the audio file . Ensure that the file type is either MP3 or WAV. Also enusre that the file is not damaged." The file is WAV and the file is not damaged. Does anyone know what is going on? Why can't I insert my file. I've tried all of the possible methods i.e. menu, properties panel, etc.
    These WAV files were created at a professional sound studio.

    Hi there
    You need to ensure that the studio encodes the files using PCM encoding. I've seen WAV files encoded as MP3 and that will cause the condition you are describing.

  • Importing a Captivate file into Premiere Pro

    Anyone know a simple way to do this?

  • Import mpg file into Captivate

    Hi
    I am using Captivate 1.0 and I know it does not support
    importing mpg file. Would you please let me know the free software
    to convert mpg video file to avi file? The latter one is supported
    in Captivate. Thanks a lot!

    PPTX files sometimes don't import.  Save as PPT instead and try that.

  • Exist an easy way to convert base64 code in XML files into the original image file on forms

    I've made a form in lifecycle that will be distributed by email as a pdf, and submitted back to me as an XML file and then that data imported into the pdf form template to view the data. Issue is I have an "attach image" field on the form and in XML it gets written to a base64 encoded format. Is there convenient way to extract this code from the XML file so that I would have a workable jpeg image file that I can save and open in other apps? Thank you in advance!  -Robert Tampa

    I tried to make John Brinkman's sample working in reverse.
    This script will grab an image field's value and produce an attachment (png-file), which then can be saved to the hard drive.
    //Get Base64 data of the image field
    var b64Data = ImageField1.value.image.value;
    //Convert to a read stream
    var ReadStream = util.streamFromString(b64Data);
    //Decode from Base64
    var DecodedStream = Net.streamDecode(ReadStream, "base64");
    //Attach an empty image file
    event.target.createDataObject("MyExportImage.png", "", "image/png");
    //Update attached image file with stream data
    event.target.setDataObjectContents("MyExportImage.png", DecodedStream);
    //Show attachment pane
    event.target.viewState = {overViewMode:7};
    This works so far, but the produced images are always cutted off.
    No idea what's the reason for this behavior.

  • Importing flash into Captivate 2

    I know there are some posts on this, but I cant' seem to
    figure out what the issue is- Each time I import my file into
    Captivate it complains the actionscript is referencing _root, which
    it is- I've changed it to _parent after reading some other posts,
    doesn't work- it's a small menu I want to use within captivate to
    navigate to the other parts of my presentation- what is the deal?
    I'm so annoyed! Any help is appreciated! Here is my code:
    this._lockroot= true
    _root.HomePage.onEnterFrame = function() {
    if (mouse_over_HomePage) {
    _root.HomePage.nextFrame();
    } else {
    _root.HomePage.prevFrame();
    _root.AboutUs.onEnterFrame = function() {
    if (mouse_over_AboutUs) {
    _root.AboutUs.nextFrame();
    } else {
    _root.AboutUs.prevFrame();
    _root.Services.onEnterFrame = function() {
    if (mouse_over_Services) {
    _root.Services.nextFrame();
    } else {
    _root.Services.prevFrame();
    _root.DesignAdvice.onEnterFrame = function() {
    if (mouse_over_DesignAdvice) {
    _root.DesignAdvice.nextFrame();
    } else {
    _root.DesignAdvice.prevFrame();
    _root.OnlineStore.onEnterFrame = function() {
    if (mouse_over_OnlineStore) {
    _root.OnlineStore.nextFrame();
    } else {
    _root.OnlineStore.prevFrame();
    _root.ContactUs.onEnterFrame = function() {
    if (mouse_over_ContactUs) {
    _root.ContactUs.nextFrame();
    } else {
    _root.ContactUs.prevFrame();
    };

    Hi lisalis72
    You might want to consider also posting this question over in
    the
    Flash
    Forums. There are some here that regularly combine Flash with
    Captivate, but most of us are clueless with Flash and only work
    with Captivate. So your chances of seeing an answer might be better
    over in the Flash forums.
    Cheers... Rick
