Captivate 3 - zoom - transition - resize

Can I make an selection in an slide and make an zoom-in
function of for instance an button or some part of the scene ?
Can I make transition effect between my slides ?
If I record on full screen (1024 x 768 ) can I resize the
whole project to 800 x 640 ?ot other size

Hi steenmikkelsen
For transitions, it will depend on your Captivate version.
Versions 1 and 2 had a few. Maybe 3 or 4. Captivate 3 has 10. If
you wish to see them all in action, I've got a download up on the
Captivate Exchange that will show them to you. You may visit the
Exchange by
clicking
here. My gizmo is called "Captivate Transition Chooser".
For the zooming effect, there is a Zoom Area tool that
appeared in version 2. So you will need to have version 2 or 3 to
have it available. Basically, you click Iinsert > Zoom area and
get two objects on your slide. One is the zoom area and one is the
zoom destination. Position the zoom area over the area you wish to
magnify. Place and size the zoom destination where you wish to
display what you are "zooming up". The difference in size between
these two areas controls the magnification level. The larger the
difference, the more magnified the area becomes. There is also an
option for displaying an image as the zoom destination. So, you
might have an image of the area at full size, then a smaller image
on the slide where you simply wish to zoom up and show the larger
area in a much clearer manner.
You can scale a project down from a larger resolution to a
smaller one, but keep in mind that at the end of the day when all
is said and done, Captivate projects use bitmapped images. Any
scaling down will result in a loss of quality. This is because you
are taking bitmaps and pushing the picture elements (pixels)
together. Things look "fuzzy" and no longer as clear as they
originally did. So it's a trade off. To do this, click Project >
Resize Project...

  • How do I create a zoom transition in Premiere Elements 9?

    Hello,
Could you tell me how do I zoom in Adobe Premiere Elements 9? And I mean a slow zoom transition, not a non-transitioning zoom that "jumps" into zoom from one frame to the other.
    Thanks,
    Andrey

If you stretch out the Duration of the included Zoom Transition, does that not do what you want?
When I need Transitions, beyond what come with PrE and PrPro, I usually go to Pixelan's Spice Master first, and sort of "build my own."
    Good luck,

  • Captivate 2 Zoom In - How can I do that?

    Hello,
I saw the Captivate 2 "Zoom In" introduction video at Adobe
website. The video show the "Sleeping Girl" picture zoom in larger
and larger smoothly. How can I do that?
    Thanks and best regards
    Alex

    Hi Alex
Assuming you have Captivate 2, you click Insert > Zoom
Area... to get the zoom area into the movie. Then you position and
size the zoom area over what you want a close up of and position
and size the zoom destination area as desired. Beyond that, you
simply play with timing and position to achieve the desired
    effects.

  • Captivate running in a resized browser window

I have created a 800 x 600 captivate project. I will not be able to control the size of screen that customers run this project on so I'd like to take advantage of the internet browsers's zoom feature. Unfortuantey, when I zoom the browser to 75%, it does not scale the project. Instead it lops off 25% of it from the right and bottom edges (see image attached).
I did some googling and found that there is an easy way to address this in flash ( http://www.actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?t=224812 ). How would I apply this solution to my Captivate published files?
Any assistance would be MOST appreciated!
    Kind Regards,
    Sara

You can't add that code to a Captivate project since the program doesn't allow for actionscript code to be executed directly from within Captivate.
However - the default behavior of Captivate is to actually scale as you want it to so there is another reason to why your project doesn't scale.
My bet is that you have added a widget somewhere in your project and this widget most likely contain the NO_SCALE code to allow the developer to see the Widget Properties panel correctly. All of the stock Adobe widgets in CP5 contains this code and that affects your entire project causing it to not scale as you would like it to. Try and delete all widgets and see if your project scales as it should.

  • Captivate 7 Zoom Function

I was making changes to a course originally produced in Captivate 5.5, updating the content using Captivate 7.  I ran across a problem where a zoom area no longer functions as it did when produced in Captivate 5.5.  When originally produced in Captivate 5.5, highlight boxes placed in the zoom source area zoomed-out to the size of the zoom destination area, as expected.  Now with Captivate 7, the highlight boxes appear on screen, but do not zoom-out as before.  I’ve tried reinserting the zoom area to no avail.

The function looks okay on stage, but when published the highlight boxes from the zoom source do not zoom-out to the zoom destination.

  • Captivate 8: Zoom area doesn't show all action going on inside it

I'm using Captivate 8. I want to zoom in to a line and then explain what elements it has by highlighting each element in turn. I have three Highlights, and the Zoom-area shows only the first one, then this Highlight stays in the Zoom-area and other Highlights are not shown. The first Highlight overlaps with the 'Zoom for' time of the Zoom-area.
When I play the slide in the Playback mode, everything works fine, but in the Preview mode, or when I publish the project, it doesn't work. Has anyone seen anything like this? Is there a workaround?

    Hi there
As you have discovered, the zoom source area is not dynamic. It just grabs a static copy of whatever is in the area and zooms it to be larger.
What you need to do is fashion the highlights so that they are on that larger area where you want them. Or, create a new slide with an image of the zoomed up as part of the slide and add the highlights to that slide.

  • How or where is the CROSS ZOOM transition?

Hi, I am new to Premiere Pro CS5 on my Mac.
Previously I have quickly and very easily thrown together tons video and stills, all with ken burns etc in iMovie and there a some good easy to use transitions and I love the CROSS ZOOM one a lot, so quick and easy!
I am immediately regretting buying Premiere Pro I thought it would be 100 times better with shed loads of effects and cooler stuff than some cheepy like iMovie!
There only seems to be a very limited amount of transitions, that you have to tediously 'customise' and save as presets?
PLEASE help me find or recreate this simple CROSS ZOOM effect, and how where can I get a lot more effects 'off the shelf' so to speak?
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply!
not have the one button approach to use all these cheesy effects or transitions
Cheesy Oh YES! Sometimes those are the things a project requires! I'm doing stuff that has to appeal to a youth market, skate boarding, with graffiti stills zooming in and out with camera shake and all that kind of 'cheesy stuff' and the cross zooms all synchronised up to the beats of a cool music track!
The kind of stuff you see all the time of kids TV! But only very professionally done! Yes I do want more control over some of this "cheese" as you call it, I think I have made a serious error here!
What more do you need than a cross dissolve or dip to?
When I'm making a documentary or a simple holiday movie I will go for some more gentle fades and possibly even simple cuts! But I could do all the with a one button application. What have I spent all my hard earned money on!
But right now I want to something funky and cool, and quickly!
Did you have a look at the near endless list of effects and transitions? What more do you need than a cross dissolve or dip to...?
Where? There are only 2 dissolves and no zoom effects - I must be missing something here please help, ENDLESS????
Im VERY confused I don't consider myself an idiot! BUt this is really doing me in...
    Regards,
    Andy.

  • Present Movie zooming transition

Does anyone know how to STOP quicktime Pro 7 from using a transition when playing a movie on a 2nd display using Present Movie. In version 7.0.4 it now 'zooms' the player window onto the screen.
This has taken a really great feature and totally made it worthless.
I am trying to professionally present videos and slides, and this makes it look dodgy.
    /Tim

Version 7.6.2 has Present Movie. Update Quicktime.

  • Where is Captivate 8 Timing , Transition . Fade in?

I think my timing panel is gone in captivate 8. I had seen it on text captions, bit now it is gone. There was once a "timing" button in the properties panel. I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I inadvertently turned it off. Please help.

Jumping in a little late here, but I think I can help.
I've talked to chat support about this and received the same workaround of enabling the custom workspaces or clearing my preferences.
Those didn't work, and here's why:
When you have more than one object of different types (text box and image, shape and image, etc) on the timeline selected, the timing panel disappears.
If you select ONLY objects of the same type (only images, only text boxes, etc) the timing panel stays put and you can modify the properties all together.
When the panel disappears, de-selecting everything (or at least make sure only one type of object is selected), click Library, and then back to Properties. The timing menu should reappear.
It's a little odd, but at least it's predictable and easy to fix. It has nothing to do with preferences, or which workspace you're using.

  • HELP! Why is the zoom feature resizing my pictures?

So having a blackberry has turned into a nightmare for me.
Backstory: I have the 8330... this is brand new, not even 30 days old. I had one before but Sprint felt I needed a sofware upgrade due to my phone resetting and they basically locked me out of the phone. How genuis??? So a week's worth of daily 20mile drives to Sprint's repair stores in a torrential downpour and I have a new phone.
ISSUE: When I take pictures on this blackberry and I zoom, my picture comes out very small online. the closer the zoom, the smaller the pic. how do I turn this off. This is the gripe of my life right now! It never happened on my old phone. allmy pics were large (per my setting).
Any insight on how i can fix this or should I return this blackberry too?

There's nothing wrong with your BlackBerry (or probably the other one, for that reason).
    1. The higher the zoom level on your camera, the less data is captured by the camera.
That's just a basic of digital imaging. I'm in that business, I know. So, you zoom high, the camera sensors "consume" less data into the image.
    2. Open your camera > Menu key > options and set the camera to take higher resolution, or superfine images. There should be two settings: Picture Size and Picture Quality. Set both to the highest setting.

  • Crop/Zoom-In/Resize full motion shot

I've got some real nasty vignetting in a 2-1/2 minute video clip, and I must use the clip.
I would like to figure out how to increase the shot size (ZOOM IN) by about 15% and re-render it to take care of this problem.
This is full motion video, NOT a still photograph --Ken Burns won't work here (sadly).

  • Zooming In - Captivate 5

Hello.  I am using Captivate 5 and am having trouble with the zoom.
I would like to zoom in on relevant buttons / windows, but they always artifact due to the low resolution.  What I don't understand is that I see many videos where this is not a problem.  For example, please see this video on the Apple website - http://support.apple.com/kb/VI207 .  I can't get this effect from Captivate because you can only record the entire project in one resolution (ie. 720p) and if you exceed the resolution in your zoom window proportionally, it only artifacts.
Am I missing something?  I would appreicate any insight as to how I can get Captivate to zoom like in the video I mentioned.
    Thanks!

That is what I mostly explain when teaching Software tutorials with Captivate. It is a quick way to create a Show me, Try, Test me combination. You just add a 'menu' slide with branching to the three parts.

  • PS CS5 Ruler and zoom

    Hi,
When using Ctrl+ or Ctrl - to zoom the ruler is not always resizing. This does not happen in CS4 (the rulers resize with the image). I have downloaded the latest drivers (NVidia) for my graphics card but the problem still remains. I am using windows Vista.
I can get round the problem by pressing Ctrl R twice (to remove then re-display the ruler) at which point it sizes correctly, but this is a bit of a nuisance. Any ideas?
    Dave

So far no-one able to help, so a little more information from experimenting may identify the issue (or if anyone else has the problem).
The problem i.e. the ruler not resizing with zoom (Ctrl +  and Ctrl -), occurs when "Resize windows to fit" is not checked in the zoom tool.
Changing from 16.7% zoom to 25% zoom, and vice versa, the ruler does resize with the image but beyond those sizes the ruler does not change until I press Ctrl R twice to undisplay and re-display the ruler.
Using the buttons to zoom, going from "Fit Screen" to "Actual Pixels" changes the ruler. But going from "Fill Screen to Actual Pixels" the ruler shows the same scale as it did in "Fill Screen" even though the image has changed.
Checking the "Resize Windows to fit" box in the zoom tool results in the ruler changing correctly with the image as it is zoomed. However I lose the smooth zoom transition. No big loss and my current workaround for the problem.
This is only happening in CS5 - in CS4 the ruler works correcly.
Any ideas pointing toward correcting the issue would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Dave

  • Having problem with FCP 5.1.4 adding transitions. Just new to this app.

    So I get 2 maybe 3 transitions set correct. After that none work properly. ie: lets go for the quicktime zoom transition. So as it zooms out it plays the first quarter of the 1st part of the transition in the zoom box. This is not correct it should be playing the second part of the transition. Anyway about 1/4 of the way through it does play the second half of the transition which is correct and plays the rest of it properly. It does the same for cross dissolve and all other transitions. I have trashed the preferences but that doesn't seem to help. I have also changed the preferences and that doesn't help. OS is 10.5.8; 6g of ram; powermac g5 quad core 2.5ghz;
    Please if anyone can help.
Below I entered FCP 6 because 5 was not available.

Just to clarify, by "FCP 5 friendly source material," he means video files that are a format (codec) that FCP 5 supports. What FCP 5 supports can be found in the EASY SETUP list. If the format you are working with isn't there, say if your footage is H.264 or MP4 or some other web compressed format, FCP won't work properly.  It needs to be in an editing codec if you want FCP 5 to work with it.
Also, you need to make sure that your sequence settings match the settings of the footage you are trying to edit. If you add a clip to the sequence, and immediately have to render, that's a big clue to say that something isn't right. You should edit without rendering at all.
The most important thing you need to do is properly set up your project from the start, and the best way to do this is to choose a setting from the Easy Setups, located under the Final Cut Pro menu. Once you do this, you’ll need to create a new sequence.  This is because the sequence that is already in your new project is setup for the typical default setting of DV/NTSC, or for the settings of your last project, which might not match what you are currently working with.  So delete SEQUENCE 1 and create a new sequence:
This new sequence will contain the settings you chose in the Easy Setup menu, and should match the format you captured

  • Zoom!!!

Please, is there any plugin or tutorial that can allow me to zoom in and out of my footage, I've been looking around for stuff to help but I can't find anything on the subject- I realize you can zoom into footage at a fixed point but thats not quite what I want, I mean zoom that slowly zooms into a clip and can slowly zoom out. The zoom transitions aren't what I hoped for and I can't find any zoom effect to work with! The best I've found is the Camera View effect where you can change the amount of closeness in the footage but it doesn't gradually zoom in its just fixed. Anyone know what I mean? I'd very much appreciate something or some help-- I desperately need that additional effect! Please help..
