Captivate 4 and Windows 7

I'm looking to possibly move to Windows 7 to do some 'testing'  - any one done this yet?  Any issues with Captivate 4 that you have run across?

Hi all,
Just as a point of reference:
I am running Windws 7 64-bit and Captivate is working. I did read the entries here and some blog entries before starting so I knew there might be issues I would face.
I installed the trial version.
I set it to Run as Administrator, and in compatibility mode for Win XP sp3. (b/c Administrator mode is advised, and using compatibility mode just in case)
Ran it, and immeditately checked for updates.
Installed the latest patch (b/c this was advised when Vista users experienced some problems).
Ran it.
I was able to record new projects and audio, and read in Captivate 3 projects. Also exported to swf and avi. So far, all seems fine.

  • Problems with captivate 8 and windows 8

I´m using captivate 8 and windows 8, and I am having problems with the visualization and publication of my projects. For visualization, there is a message of an error with syntax of the files ou directory, and nothing happens. For publication, I can´t see the project published in the browser. It opens only a text file, with the codes. Is there anyone thar can help me with that?

Acrobat 8 is not certified for Win7, particularly the x64 version. If you got the installation to go, the first step is to update AA8 to at least AA8.2. The x64 with XP required at least AA8.2 and I suspect that has not changed. I would suggest updating to the latest, either from the help menu (until no more updates are available) or by downloading the updates from the adobe.com>downloads page. For the latter, download ALL updates after your current version and install them in ORDER. They are not cummulative in most cases. You only need to reboot after the final update. The updates may get you going. If not, you may simply have to upgrade to AA9 or search for what others have been able to do in your situation.

  • Captivate 3 and Windows 7 Compatability

I have Captivate 3 and am consideing buying a new PC and want to know if I'll have compatability issues between 3 and Windows 7.   If Captivate 3 and Windows 7 can't play nicely together, will Captivate 4 work?  Thanks

    Hi there
I wouldn't expect Captivate 3 to work with Windows 7 with no issues. However, even if you were to upgrade to Captivate 4 you would still stand the chance of seeing issues. Particularly if Windows 7 is the 64 bit version. If the computer RAM is advertised as more than 3 gig (4 gig RAM systems are very common) you can pretty much count on the fact that Windows 7 will be 64 bit.
Captivate may work or it may have issues. It works just dandy for some folks using Windows 7 64 bit. For others, it's nothing but trouble. The bottom line is that Your Mileage May Vary.

  • Problem With Captivate 4 and Windows 8

    Hi,
    I've a problem with Captivate 4 on Windows 8 projects :
    The mouse is not tracked.
I've applied the last patch for this version (11/15/2011).
Is there another patch for this ?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi there
I know this will come off as sounding snarky, but please know it's honestly not intended that way,
    Windows 8?
I never was able to make Captivate 4 run successfully on Windows 7. So I'm not the least bit surprised to hear it has issues with Windows 8!
Personally, I'm thinking you are due for an upgrade to Captivate if you want it to work on Windows 8. But then again, I'm not even certain if Captivate 6 is Windows 8 compatible.

  • Captivate 5 and Windows 7

I need to purchase a new computer and wanted to check if the known install issues with Windows 7 have been fixed?
    Thanks

@Lieve.  No, I'm not mixing Cp4x and Cp5x. There were a number of installation issues with Captivate 5x and 6x versions on WinVista and Win7.
    These are things like:
Conflicts with some Corporate SOE setups, especially those involving virtualised My Documents folders and Roaming Profiles.
Some users unable to install Cp to Run As Administrator due to restrictive corporate policies on end user privileges.
Crashing on first launch after install due to previous install Preferences folder.
Crashing on install or first launch after install due to corrupted fonts.
Missing Microsoft C++ Redistributable software (or wrong version thereof).
Conflicts with other Adobe apps resident on the system (especially CS5 apps).
Many of these issues still affect Cp6 but I've yet to find out whether any of them still apply to Win7.

  • Trouble with Captivate 4 and Windows 7

My office just migrated to Windows 7 (64 bit) and when I try to run Captivate 4 I get the attached error message and Captivate does not capture.  I logged in as administrator and I still cannot run the program successfully.  Any suggestions?

    Welcome to our community
Unfortunately Captivate 4 wasn't created with Windows 7 in mind. Some folks here claim to be able to use it quite successfully. I fall into the camp where it refused to work.
Sounds like you may be in this category too. Bummer that.
The only way I can coax Captivate 4 to work on my own Windows 7 (Ultimate-64 Bit version) was to install the Windows XP Mode Virtual Machine and install it there. But that also means I cannot capture outside of the VM. In order to capture anything in Windows 7, I had to acquire and install Captivate 5.

  • Captivate 4 and Windows 7 doesn't hear microphone and will not record

I have windows 7 as my operating system.  I downloaded the trial version of captivate 4 while I'm waiting for my recently purchased copy to come in the mail.
I can record on my computer via its own sound recording utility under accessories.  So that is up and running.  I right-clicked on Captivate when opening to open as administrator, besides I have admin rights anyway.
But Captivate doesn't hear the microphone.  My microphone is one that plugs in to the microphone port on my computer.
When I speak into the microphone, the red "Checking input Level" does nothing, and no sound is recorded.

  • Install Captivate 4 on Windows 7 64-bit machine with Windows XP mode?

    Hi,
I have been searching the web to find out the best way/place in which to load Captivate 4 on my Windows 7 64-bit machine. Seems some people have issues with recording, others don't. I have Windows XP mode on my machine.
My question is... what's the best way to load Captivate 4 on Windows 7 - should I install to Windows 7 and see how it goes. Or should I install under Windows XP mode?
    Thank you!
    Michele

Yea it works in XP mode

Try running Cp4 in WinXp compatibility mode on Win7.  Also make sure
you're set to Run as Administrator.
I run Cp4 on Win7 without issues.  But other users report similar problems
to yourself.  In the end, it may or may not work for you because Adobe has
never claimed Cp4 was compatible with Vista or Win7 64bit.

    Hi,
I've just downloaded the trial version of Captivate 5 but it throws an error while installing and I've not seen anything on the web explaining what might be happening.

Can someone please help me? I've been waiting for CP5 for ages!
    Rui

Hi Chirs , sorry for the trouble you are facing. We would like you to be up and running in the language of your choice and not choose the workaround. I have a solution , see if this works for you
Inside the installer folder [either from dvd or a local folder or a extracted location], you can find a folder called "payloads".
          1) Inside that, you can find some folders with their names starting with "Microsoft_".
          2) Amongst such folders, you should find 3 folders which also end with "_x86_x64".
          3) Go into each of these 3 folders and try running the "msi" files manually by double clicking them. In the options screens, select "modify" and keep clicking next till you finish.
Before the workaround .. you have uninstall Captivate 5 and after the workaround re-install captivate in German and this should solve.
if not , I can set up a meeting with you and try and help resolving this issue.
We deeply appreciate your interest shown towards Captivate 5
    Thanks

  • EXE published Captivate File in window 7 throws error message

    Hi Guys,
I have been struggle with this problem for a couple of days.
    My setup:
Window 7 Professional with two account set up.  One is as Adminstrator, and the other one is the standard user account
UAC is turned off so it does not ask me to run the app with adminstrator rights.
My company will not allow flash.  Thats why we have to use the EXE file...
The exe file runs fine under adminstrator account.  But when I try to open it under the standard user account, it gives the following error message.  This message will keep appearing when I click on the exe file.  I am pretty sure the exe is probably trying to access some folder for read/write access and the standard user account is not allowing it to do so.  Any help would be very grateful!

I have been delivering courses in the .exe outputs offline for CD delivery and have had many end users using it on a variety of computers with most people accessing it with non admin rights. Still, no one has complained of similar or any other issue yet. There was an issue with Captivate 4 for which a patch was provided later that used to deal with the fakeflash file somewhere in the captivate folder, and the interesting thing was that the .exe didn't use to work on those computers only that had captivate 4 installed.

  • Captivate 4 in Windows 7

I have Captivate 4 and just installed Windows 7.  I can not import audio.  I followed the fix posted on Adobe website and set up the program in admin mode on the .exe file.  Still cannot upload audio to Captivate simulations.  Any ideas
    Thanks

    Hi there
You might try configuring "compatibility mode". I think it's worked for some here such as Rod Ward. Personally, I never was able to make it work on my own Windows 7 setup and I ended up instaling the Windows XP virtual machine and installing CP4 in that. That does require Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate in order to make it work though. Not sure if that's an option for you.

  • Captivate 5 and Win 7 - 64 bit

does Captivate 5 work with 64 bit Windows? Doesn't say in the requirements.
    Brad

    Brad,
The FAQ section on the Adobe webpage for Captivate 5 clearly states that it is only certified for 32-bit versions of XP and Windows 7.  Why?  Don't ask me.  64-bit Windows platforms have been around for 3 years now and Adobe is surely taking their sweet time acknowledging that fact.  They don't even have a Flash player plug-in that's compliant with a 64-bit web browser yet.  Adobe, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR ! ?  Don't you realize how many customers with high-end PCs are running 64-bit platforms now (if only to be able to take advantage of more than 3GB of RAM)?
Now, I haven't yet tested Captivate 5, but what I can tell you regarding Captivate 4 is this...
The program works on a 64-bit PC (with the latest patch), providing you are recording a 32-bit application.
When attempting to record a 64-bit application, only one frame is captured.  After initiating the recording, whether in automatic or manual mode, all keyboard and mouse input is ignored.  The only response you can get is clicking the tray icon to end the recording session.
However, full-motion recording of 64-bit applications does work, since the camera runs continuously regardles of keyboard and mouse activity.
I suggest installing a trial version of Captivate 5 for your 64-bit OS before committing to the purchase.  I suspect that the results may be similar to those of Captivate 4; but, again, I don't KNOW that to be a fact.
I plan on testing Captivate 5 on my Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit) workstation and will post again when I've tested it's ability, or lack thereof, to capture from 64-bit applications.

  • Color settings for video demos in Captivate 7 and 8

I have been working with Captivate 7, and I recently got the Captivate 8 upgrade.  I haven't been able to get good quality colors in my video demos in either version.  I can select either 16 bit and 32, but the resulting video looks exactly the same, like when I change my monitor to display 16 bit.  Software simulations look great, but I can't seem to change the color setting for the videos.  I've changed the settings both in general and in individual projects, and still no change.  I'm using a Mac to capture video on Windows 7 through VMware.  I've tested the video demo capture on the Mac, and it's showing the same degraded colors.  Any ideas?

    Hi There,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
As such there is no skin specific to RTL in Captivate 8. As of now bullets in quiz cannot be alligned to right . To know more you can refer to the following link :  Right to Left Language Support in Adobe Captivate 7 - YouTube
