Captivate 4 Audio cuts out before end of slides

I have put my Captivate swf's in Presenter for publishing. Two issues. The scripts are truncated and the audio stops playing before the slide ends.  Are their character limits for audio?

This could be an iMovie problem. It seems to have its fair share of bugs.
Have you downloaded today's iMovie update?

  • Audio cutting out at the end of my video

So I exported a AVCHD video into an uncompressed AVI and then re imported it. I brought it into the time line and edited it a bunch and also brought in another video and mixed that in. For about half of the video, I used the audio from the video itself... but in different sections, I brought in a separate wav file. I used this wav file towards the end of the video for about 1 minute of the video. After I was done, I exported the entire project into a normal avi file because what I'm going to do for now is upload these to YouTube and so I don't want the file sizes to be too huge.
So I opened up the final avi file in VLC player... and everything is great... except the last 30 seconds or so of the video doesn't have the audio. It plays the audio from the wav about halfway through... and then it stops. The video continues... but there is no sound.
I went back into the project and everything looks fine. The wav file extends to the end and the audio plays fine when I preview the video. So I exported again just to see if it was some sort of error the first time... but no... it did the same thing.
So why is the audio cutting out at the end? How do I fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

Ok I figured out how to do a better quality MP4. However I had two problems. 1... the quality isn't near as good as the AVI. 2... now the audio cuts out in even more places instead of just the end. It seems that the .wav file I imported is causing the problems. In the AVI, the wav file cuts out at the end. In the MP4, the wav file cuts out in the middle AND at the end. I don't understand why this is happening. The wav file plays all the way through normaly, and it also sounds find when I preview the video... but when I encode it... it cuts out in places regardless of the format. Is there some step I'm missing in the process to make sure the audio is all in place?

  • Audio cuts out half way through video after conversion.

I just put together some video clips I've shot into a single video, then ran it through conversion. Half way through the completed video, the audio cuts out for the rest of the film. Yet in iMovie, it's still there. I've converted twice and it cuts out in the same spot. Could corruption in a single clip, kill the audio for the following clips? Since it takes hours to convert, I thought I'd ask before deleting the suspect clip and starting again.
I've spliced together clips before without problem, using the same camera source.
    Thanks.
    Cheers

I figured a work-around. From the clip where the audio cut out till the end, I dragged those clips to a new iMovie project. After converting, the sound was intact for that portion. Then I opened the complete version with audio cut-off in Quicktime Pro. Deleted the the half with audio loss. Then joined the new half I just created. Voila!
Only when I went to post the video on my vlog, did my Internet connection die (Comcast strikes again).

  • Audio cuts out (mDP - HDMI) when entering clamshell mode

Hi - my MBA is late 2012 (8 GB, 2 GHz i7, 10.7.4). When I hook it up to the LED TV (a Toshiba 40L2200U) using a Folsom miniDisplayPort to HDMI cable (no separate adaptors, it's a 6' cable with mDP at one end and hdmi at the other) it works fine - audio is transmitted and it comes through the TV speakers. But when I close the lid and try to continue watching with the laptop in clamshell mode (a magic trackpad is around that is paired to it), video continues just fine but the audio cuts out.
Annoyingly, when I open the lid back up the audio still doesn't work. I have to futz around a while before it comes back (restart any programs with audio output, unplug the cable and plug it back in again, move the audio output in system preferences to core audio and back again to the TV etc.)
Does anyone know what's up with this? I don't think it can be the cable's fault--clearly it's able to transmit audio along with the video, and nothing changes about the cable when I close the lid.
Could anyone with a similar setup (MBA/Lion -> TV via HDMI adaptor) let me know if you are able to enter clamshell mode without losing audio over hdmi?

In 'alsamixer' I have a setting called ''Headphone Jack Sense' which if enabled mutes the speaker when a headphone jack is inserted.
    What's the output of
    amixer get 'Headphone Jack Sense'

After recent upgrade to Yosemite on Macbook air bluetooth audio cuts out and associated video stops with audio. Likewise with airplay and Apple TV. I have deleted all my saved wifi connections and restarted numerous times. I do not expect a resolution from the community, but hope to get the attention of Apple engineers. If you are having same problems or have a miracle cure I am all ears.

May start my own thread, but I'm having similar issues.
I've been using an old iMac (running 10.7.5) and Apple TV for years with no issues. Last week I bought a new Macbook Pro running Yosemite and have had audio issues multiple times. The weird thing is that sometimes it works flawlessly, other times (like now) I spend half an hour just trying to get a song to play.
My issues are: When I got to "computers" in Apple TV to stream my music, my music is sometimes chopper or intermittent, and I seen to know when it's going to happen based on the status wheel just before it plays. When I choose a song, the status wheel will spin for an unusually long time, usually an indicator that the audio is either not going to work, or stutter.
When it does finally pull up a song, the playhead sits at the beginning of the song for a good 3-5 seconds before actually playing. Then, when it starts playing, it's all downhill. It will play a few seconds, drop out, play a few more seconds, drop out, and then ultimately the playhead will keep moving across the song as if it's playing, but there's no audio.
Again, this is a new phenomenon never experienced by me. I've tried everything I could think of, some of them all at once:
    • restart Apple TV
    • restart Macbook Pro
    • quite iTunes/open
    • turn off Home Sharing on iTunes then reconnect it
    • unplugging and cycling both my modem and router
None of these have alleviated the problem.
The odd thing is, like this morning, the audio started up perfectly and never gave me any issues. It wasn't until later in the day that it started. Perhaps after the macbook pro had been put to sleep? Not sure.
Regardless, this is an annoying trait, one that's new to me and my system (as stated, worked flawlessly until my new purchase), and is 100% limited to either a) the macbook pro b) Yosemite or c) both of them.

  • Audio Cuts out after a few minutes.  IChat AV 2.1

I have surfed and have not found any topics like this yet. Audio is cutting out after chatting with another Mac - AV user. Both microphones still appear to work in the preferences, but the person can not hear on the other side. Video works fine, but now audio. Any help or suggestions would be helpful. Virex 7 has already been removed. This solved the video problems. Merry Christmas.

    Hi Brian,
Your title states that the audio cuts out during a chat but the post itself seems to imply that you do not have Audio after the chat.
IF it is cutting out during a Video cut can you please tell us what connection speeds both ends have ?
It should be a at least 100kbps up and down.
If it is not you will have problems. You may find that a cable connection varies as the chat goes on and this might be part of the problem.
    Soemthings that might help:
GO to System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming tab and set the Connection sped to mathc the download speed at either end.
GO to iChat > Preferences > Video > bandwidth Limit Drop Down and set this to NONE.

  • Sony STR-DN1040 audio cuts out briefly, frequently

Audio on my new Sony STR-DN1040 cuts out whan SAT/CATV is the source. This happens frequently (every 30 seconds to a minute, unpredictably), though it is only for a fraction of a second each time.
When the audio cuts out, the following items on the front display panel of the receiver all flash off momentarily:
    A.P.M.Dolby Digital SymbolD.L.L.
When I reconnect the cable box directly to the TV instead of the receiver (same HDMI cable), the audio issue goes away. I have tried resetting/clearing the receiver. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks again for your suggestions! They are much appreciated.
I have noticed that the problem is apparent on some TV channels more than others. Some channels seem to cause the audio drop and other channels don't.
I have now tried attaching my Blu-Ray player to the SAT/CATV port using the same HDMI cable. The problem was not apparent (but I haven't noticed the issue with the Blu-Ray source previously, so perhaps that helps rule out the SAT/CATV port).
I also tried attaching the cable box/PVR to the BD port and the problem was still present (as mentioned earlier, mostly present on certain channels).
The software is up to date as of last week (ver. s9327.1074.0).
I also tried powering off and disconnecting everything, then reconnecting and powering everything on in the described order. The issue is still present, regardless of the HDMI input port that I use. As mentioned before, this happens only when I route the SAT/CATV signal through the receiver. When I bypass the receiver, by connecting the cable box/PVR directly to the TV, the audio does not cut out on the usual affected channels.

  • Audio cuts out most of the way through an iDVD image

We created a Quicktime file using Final Cut Express HD 3.5, and imported the Quicktime fill into iDVD 6 (all patches have been applied to iDVD and to Quicktime, and Quicktime has been upgraded to Pro version). The iDVD preview shows that all audio is present all the way through the end of the video(about 1 hour and 5 minutes), which means that the Quicktime file has all the audio present.
However, after creating a DVD disk image with iDVD 6, the audio cuts out completely about 55 minutes into the video. The spot where the audio cuts out is not near any chapter marker nor near any transition of any kind in the Final Cut editor session.
By the way, I am creating the image on an external Firewire drive with 112 Gbyte free, although we also tried the internal hard drive which has about 20Gbyte free.
How can I figure out how to get all the audio onto the image created by iDVD?

I believe I've found the cause of the problem! Within Final Cut Express, I found a system setting for output buffer size, set by default to 2Gbyte. I also found that the default 'Convert to Quicktime' setting is for Internet Fast Start. I increased the buffer size from 2Gbyte to 3Gbyte and unchecked Internet Fast Start, and I have no more audio drop out!
I think that iDVD has a bug when multiple file segments are linked together in the Quicktime file (because of the smaller FCE output buffer size). Note that the iDVD preview did not experience the problem, so that part of the iDVD app seems to handle multiple file segments correctly, whereas the part that processes the file segments while creating the DVD image seems to have the bug. Increasing the buffer size masked the iDVD bug.
So if anybody from Apple is listening, please fix your iDVD bug please!
Concerning the ZR85, I do re-use tapes quite a lot and have never experienced problems. I do clean the ZR85 heads periodically. However, I shall consider using new tapes more often.

  • Audio cuts out when exported to quicktime

So I recorded audio in garage band, added it to my slides in keynote, went through and timed the bullets on all of my slides to coincide with the audio, then attempted to export it to quicktime.  After several attempts in various formats the audio just cuts out before completing, usually after I click to advance another bullet in the slide.  Come to think of it, I don't think the bullet advances either.  I've been struggling with this for about two weeks after I realized that powerpoint was cropping my audio when I was recording it in that application.  I'm just trying to record a lecture for an online course and it seems like every time I think I have a solution I come across another problem.  Can anybody help me?

Going into the red with digital audio is not the same as when it happens with analog audio.
With digital sound the signal is being truncated and as you remarked, quite literally being destroyed.
Redlining analog audio, is introducing distortion but there is still "headroom" and in reasonable doses it can give you a nice fuzzy feeling.
Bottom line -don't let your digital audio signal go into the red.
Have a look at the keyword searchable, Final Cut Pro User Manual in FCP's Help menu bar item, where this is explained in more detail.
Your search term for the day "Audio Levels, Meters, and Output Channels".

  • Midi Audio Cuts out when Playback tracks are triggered.

    Hi,
I am having an issue where if I open Mainstage 2 and begin playing a Midi Sequence through a 3rd party Plug-in, the audio cuts out from the plug-in when I trigger my group of Playback tracks for the first time and only restarts when a new note is played. This is particularly a problem because the sound is arpegiated and continuous. 9 out of 10 times if I do it again right afterwards it will be fine without any issues at all. There was a time during rehearsal when it absolutely would not work, but I think a restart fixed it. CPU usage and memory usage do not seem to be the problem.
So my question is, is it normal for it to do that on the first time? Is there any reason why it would not absolutely work that time during rehearsal. And lastly, is there anyway to make it just work every time!
I have tried reading up on this, and from what I understand, putting each playback track on a separate patch might help. My issue with that is I have already designed a layout that fits everything on one screen in one patch. I don't want to be switching screens during a song to adjust levels for the playback tracks. I have One Vocal, One Midi Synth, 8 playback tracks, and 3 Aux strips.
I am new to mainstage and might not completely understand how to make a set work with patches, but from what I understand if I put the playback tracks on different patches I can't control everything from one screen.
Any thoughts, insights, or advice is greatly appreciated.

Logic has that issue at times as well- where the first notes of a midi passage may not play. I believe the timing is such that the note starts are actually slightly before the first beat. Check your starting notes to make sure that they are really starting on the first beat and not slightly before.

  • Audio cuts out in long movie

I've created a feature documentary in iMovie lasting 1h35m. I've designed the 4:3 Revolution menus in iDVD and everything previews beautifully in iDVD. Assets were encoded at Professional level. All audio is in AIF 48KHz.
Then from iDVD I saved to a disc image and then mount the image and play it in DVD Player. Everything seems fine until the last 5 min of the presentation where the audio cuts out (video still plays). Otherwise the audio was synchronized throughout. It cuts out in the middle of an audio file that's just like all the other audio files in the movie. This final segment plays fine in iMovie and previews fine in iDVD.
I've deleted the encoded assets and run it again after uninstalling Perian. Still no joy. Does anyone know what to suggest other than use Toast?
It's not acceptable to me to put multiple movie files into a slideshow (I've seen this suggested) as you have to click next to go on to the next part of the movie. I also don't want the viewer to have to return to the menu to be able to watch the whole show straight through.
Help as this is like getting to the end of a thriller and discovering the last few pages are ripped out! What happened?

Has nothing to do with players. iDVD just does not handle the audio properly. DVD slideshow format is not the same as video - it basically shows still images for a set amount of time while the audio plays. The 99 image limit is a limitation of the DVD slideshow specification which iDVD gets around for the images but it doesn't work for the audio for some reason.
I have learned of another solution which I will try though; Make a DVD slideshow with multiple slideshows - 1 for each audio file, for example. You end up with chapter markers for each song/sub-slideshow, which is what I wanted anyway. In the future, I will generate the slideshow in iMovie or just use DVD SP to avoid the problem. My problem is I spent a lot of time putting everything together in iDVD and have it just the way I want it. I can't afford to redo everything from scratch so I'll just group the images according to the audio into separate slideshows which shouldn't be too time consuming. I'll let you know how it works.

  • Audio cuts out in the final minutes of a 1.5 hour movie

My burned DVD has great sound, EXCEPT that the audio cuts out completely for the last 5 minutes or so of the last chapter. My project is about 90 minutes long and contains camcorder footage, pictures and added background music (not protected). I've checked the movie file - it's fine, and everything previews fine in iDVD. The DVD was encoded with "Professional" quality.
Perhaps it's too long? but no errors were reported. Advice?

Possible Explanation and Solution: I had assembled my movie from two m4v files, the "large" exports produced by iMovie when you share projects to the media browser. I used QT Pro to simply copy and paste one onto the end of the other, and saved as a .mov. I thought this was a clever solution to the lack of a "Play All" problem in iDVD. All my chapters and everything worked beautifully in iDVD preview. But then the audio dropped out on the final output. Oh Well, it almost worked!
With no other solution in sight, I recreated my DVD project this time with the two separate .m4v movies from the Media Browser and everything works on the finished disk. I have the annoying return to the menus, but at least I finally have a complete disk.
Take home lesson: Bite the bullet and assemble your complete DVD movie in one iMovie '09 project. The convenience of dividing it into smaller projects is a trap - there's no good way to put them back together for the final DVD. What a pain.

  • Audio cuts out for a few seconds

    Hi,
I'm not sure if anyone is experiencing this but it happens to me all the time and it's so so annoying.
When playingback the timeline on CS6 the audio cuts out at random places and then it comes back, then it goes again for a few seconds then back again,..while video keeps on playing.....this is just random and it can happen as soon as you press play or after a few seconds and it happens when audio is stereo, mono, mp3,wav,aif, you name it.
Also, it happens regardless of playback quality or timeline render status (red, yellow or green). My computer is quite fast + 24gb RAM so I dont think the PC is a problem, It also happens on a different computer within our studio.
Needless to say that editing under these circumstances is becoming impossible/frustrating and I'm even considering finding other software to edit with! I've found others with this same problem at cretive cow http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/935424
If anyone from Adobe reads this, please help!!!
    thanks in advance

Unfortunately there's no fix for this problem that plagues Classic since release. Considering that a new generation appeared I guess we have no reason to expect a fix anymore.
I also have the problem and it makes the iPod Classic less desirable to be used as a music player than a generic $10 (no name) usb stick.

  • Audio cut out and midi miss sync

Lately I have been getting audio cut out, and the missing, 'error while trying to sync audio and midi'.
I thought it was that I had too many instances of virtual instruments. So I mixed the song down. Imported that into a NEW song, with only one audio track, and then proceeded to try to do an organ overdub...Well Logic still drops out and gives me the message, even though there is NO midi information in this file...
Then I noticed that even AIF or mp3 files, didn't play properly from the desktop preview mode. They stop too. Activity monitor doesn't seem to be showing anything overworking..
Disk Warrior fixed some volume errors,
Anyone have any ideas to try?

I'm using a motu828. I disconnected the firewire connection, and ran audio from the headphone jack to the motu, and VOILA, no problems... Last year, I went thru two motu units, not really sure if they are the issue.
I think it might be LOGIC's firewire circuitry. Apple techs couldn't find the issue, I had the G5 motherboard replaced. Another factor was I had 3 Lacie firewire drives (2 firewire 800, 1 400) I have had 4 Lacie drives die on me in the last 3 years. They are the only firewire drives I have, so I don't know if the fault lies with them, or the again Apples firewire circuitry, stressing the drives out???
I also put a firewire 800 card in my system.
I have now switched to an external ESATA raid setup. No more firewire drives. So far so good. Since I had the whole motherboard replaced, I don't know what that means in terms of MOTU connected via firewire..
For now, I'm running audio out of headphone jack, using all virtual instruments, so I know it will sound better when I get firewire audio up and running, but I got tired of it cutting out every 3 - 30 minutes. I'm thinking about the apogee duet unit. But again if it's connected via firewire, I don't know where that leaves me..
My G5 is three and half years old, perhaps it's tired and wants to be retired....
The dark part of me wonders, if Apple computers don't start crapping out after three years of heavy use, or is it that technology, software, updates, push the hardware beyond it's capacity after a few years.

  • Why does audio cut out 10-15 minutes into iTunes movie? Using Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit

My audio cuts out in any completely downloaded iTunes movie (SD or HD) 10-15 minutes into watching it in iTunes how can I fix this?
I have to shut down iTunes completely and restart it again to get the audio to come back. 10-15 minutes later the audio disapears again.
    I am running a Windows 8.1 Professional 64-bit on a PC, 8 GB RAM, ADM Athlon II X2 265 Processor, 3.30 GHz
    Running iTunes application version 11.1.3.8
    Quicktime 7.7.4 (1680.86)
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes already.
    Any ideas?

    Hi  RonaldRenaud,
If my understanding is right, this RDP issue only occur in the connection between Windows 8.1 and Server 2008.
Please check if you have installed the update kb2984006.
