Captivate 4 - Automaticaly stop recording ?!

Hello
When I produce a demonstration everything is fine except when I have to fill in a text box. When I click in it software automatically stops recording. Why? What should I do?

Hi there,
Make sure that Captivate complete version is 4.0.1 build 1658. (Help > About Adobe Captivate)
If it is Windows 7, then run Adobe Captivate as Administrator. (Right click on Captivate icon, then run as admin)
You can also try recreating the preferences and then try to record once again. (http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/kb/troubleshoot-unexpected-behavior-captivate-4.html)
Thanks.

  • QUESTION: Captivate closes while recording

I am using Captivate 4.  I am trying to record a training simulation of our web based application.  When I reach the point in our application where you have to browse to a file to upload it, Captivate 4 stops recording and prompts me to save the project, which would be okay if I was done, but I'm not.  Is there some type of setting I need to change.  I've seen other Captivate projects that contain this same type of action, so I can't understand why mine won't record this action.
    Thank you.

    Hi there
Sure sounds like Captivate doesn't like something about what is happening, eh?
So here's a thought. You have captured all you need up to that point, no? I suppose I might then try adjusting Captivate so it's in Manual recording mode. This is similar to driving a stick shift. Try launching the recording process and at that point Captivate should produce the first screen capture but that's it. Assuming it doesn't close on you, proceed very slowly. It will be up to you to press the Print Screen key to force a screen capture for each screen change. Hopefully that will allow you to continue and grab the remaining screens.
If for some reason that doesn't work, the only other option to try would be a Full Motion Recording (FMR) and record that specific segment using FMR.

  • Adobe Captivate 4 Unexpectedly Stops Recording

Recently, Adobe Captivate 4, for no reason that I can determine, stops recording in the middle of a project. I am attempting to do a demo in Microsoft Word. As soon as I click the  Microsoft Office Button, Captivate stops recording, and a dialog box appears prompting me to save the project. Once I click OK, I am returned to Captivate with only one slide being generated. No matter what I try, I can't get past this point. This has never happened before. I don't understand what's going on. Can anyone help me?

I had a similar problem with CP4 a couple of years ago, and as I recall it was resolved by a software update - try updating to a more recent release.

  • Captivate stops recording

Captivate stops recording when I select a drop down icon in an application.  This has just started, not a problem in the past

    Hello,
    Few questions:
    What version of Captivate?
When you are referring to an application drop down icon, is Captivate recording up until that point and then it doesn't record you clicking on the drop down icon?
If so, what happens when you press the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard?

  • Captivate 4 Automatic Recording does not record application

Windows 7 64bit, Captivate 4.01. Run as Administrator. Create Project>Software Simulation>Record Application - Microsoft Excel 2010. Automatic Recording selected - mode doesn't matter, but Demonstration and Assessment checked. Start recording with red button. All settings default. After lots of moving around, typing, clicking, etc. in window, I can't stop recording using End key - I have to click on the CP icon in the Notification Area icon to stop recording. The resulting project is a single slide without any of the actions recorded. To repeat - I did start Captivate by right clicking on the desktop icon and selecting Run as Administrator.
Anyone resolve this issue? I did try searching the forum before posting, but maybe it isn't IE9 compatible as I got 0 results - even when searcing for "Captivate 4 Windows 7"

Captivate 4 CAN sometimes work fine on Windows 7 64bit systems.  It does on mine, but not all users report this success.
Before you go and buy Cp 5.5 you might as well try the different compatibility settings to see if one of them will work for you.
Another thing to be aware of is that Captivate doesn't always capture every single screen event for some programs.  So with the project you found resulted in a single slide, were you hearing the camera shutter sound at regular intervals?  If not, it may be simply that Captivate wasn't "seeing" the events on screen and you might have needed to do more manual captures to get everything.

  • IMovie '08 stops recording after 12 minutes

I am recording a DJ set, i am recording audio through Line-In and the video through the iSight camera. The first 5 or 6 times it went okay, but i wanted to perfect my mix so i tried some more attempts. For the last 3 attempts, it has stopped recording automaticaly, after 10 mins, after 12:30, after 12:10. I have turned off energy saving, and think it may be due to the memory left on my computer. THese videos are taking up about 0.5gb hd space but i have over 3gb left (i know its not much but it's more than enough for a 30 min video). What steps would you take? I am getting tired of all this mixing of the same songs to make a video ><
    Thankyou in advance

You are wise to suspect that your problem is related to your decreasing disk free space.
In addition to using your startup disk to store files, OS X needs significant disk space for system tasks that it is doing for your without your input.  I think you will do well to keep a MINIMUM of 10GB of your startup disk free for use by OS X 10.6.x.  20GB will be better.  You will notice increased operating speed and less interruptions like the ones you are now experiencing.  (BTW- when you eventually upgrade to a newer OS X version, understand that its new features will benefit from even more free space.)
If you need some ideas about how to increase the free space you use, check out OS X: Increase disk space. Even though it was written for Mountain Lion, some of the suggestions such as moving some files to other disks or simply deleting ones that are no longer needed are equally applicable to your Snow Leopard system.

  • Stops Recording

    I'm creating a new Captivate.
I click Record full screen and capture several screens.
    I stop recording
I click Record and capture several more screens.
    I stop recording
I click Record and it no longer will capture it just closes
    back to the Captivate Program.
I close and reopen - still won't record.
If I wait several minutes or open another application in
between - or reboot it fixes the problem.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Thanks,

    Hello twindsor,
Many users have experienced problems when attempting to
capture in full screen recording mode. Personally, I would
recommend that you consider choosing the
Custom Size option instead. If this isn't something you are
prepared to do, then try the following:
    1. Reduce monitor color depth from Highest 32 bit to Medium
    16 bit
    2. Reduce the screen resolution to 800 x 600
    To do this:
    a) Right-click on your Desktop,
    b) Choose Properties
    c) From the Display Properties sheet, select the Settings tab
    d) Reduce the color quality and screen res. as outlined above
    HTH

  • Captivate 4 stops during SWF to AVI conversion

We are running Captivate 4 on a brand new Windows XP quad-processor with 8G of memory. We purchased Captivate to record demos of our web-based software. It did not do well in the regular NON-full motion video mode -- crashing and not capturing onscreen changes very well -- so we switched to FMV mode.
Right now we have a 10-minute full motion video with voiceover, 800x600. We can successfully export it to SWF but we need it in a streaming format for web delivery. Every time we have tried to export it as an AVI, it gets about 1-2 minutes in and quits: "Adobe Captivate has stopped working." We've tried different codecs, including Xvid, MJPEG, MicrosoftVideo1, etc. all with the same result. The memory usage creeps up to about 1.2G and we have 8G, so it doesn't seem to be that.
I downloaded a trial version of LumixSoft SWF to AVI and it appears to handle this conversion with no problem. So far, a $50 product can do what an $800 product claims to do but has failed to deliver! I saw a similar question to mine posted in November but it did not appear to have a sufficient answer.... if Captivate cannot adequately produce a AVI file from a full-motion capture, they should make that clear to potential buyers.
    Does anyone have a solution?

    Hi there
I see multiple issues here. You are stating you have 8 gigs of RAM. This would seem to indicate you are running a 64 bit version of XP, no?
Just today I was working with a class participant that has that amount of RAM and she discovered that Captivate was very erratic on 64 bits. So she said she created a 32 bit virtual machine and ran Captivate that way with no issues. Perhaps you can try that and see if the problems improve?
Sure, you can create a Full Motion recording using Captivate, but really, Captivate just isn't up to the task if what you want is a Full Motion recording start to finish.
We may as well face it, how often does any company really go out of their way to highlight the weak points of their product?
At least they do give you 30 days in which to try it to see if it is up to the task of what you wish to do with it. Did you download and evaluate the trial?
Unfortunately I've seen other reports of the AVI output failing. I'm not sure I've ever seen a conclusive "this fixes it" response offered.
Assuming that running in a 32 bit virtual environment doesn't seem to help (it may) you might wish to try turning off compression. You do this via Edit > Preferences > Project > SWF Size and Quality.

  • Why my iPhone Voice Memos sometimes randomly stop recording

    Hello everyone,
I'm using my iPhone 6 Plus Voice Memos app to record my lecture in the university, the problem is sometimes the app stop recording and this is causing me major problem.
Note that I'm putting my iPhone on Airplain mode to avoid stopping the recording if someone called me.
The WiFi is sometimes ON while recording, but in all cases the Airplain mode is on
at the end I need to record my classes lectures for more then 60 minutes normally sometimes 160 minutes.
    Thank you.

    Hey there Al-Shatti Jr.,
If your Voice Memos are still unexpectedly not recording after some time, I would recommend quiitting the app itself first:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • When I record an audio track, there is a waveform. When I stop recording, the waveform disappears and becomes a straight line. It also disappears from the track edit window. But the sound is there. How can I stop the waveform from disappearing?

When I record an audio track using Logic Pro X, there is a visible waveform which appears as I record. When I stop recording, the waveform disappears and becomes a straight line. It also disappears from the track edit window. But the sound is still there. How can I stop the waveform from disappearing? And can I do something to view it after it has disappeared? Anyone know the anser?

    In Logic:
    Preferences/Audio Set Recording Delay to 0 <zero>
This should always be set to zero unless a specific set of circumstances exist and you're audio drivers do not report position correctly.
On occasion, usually when importing a Logic 9 project, Logic-X randomly changes this to a negative/positive number.  It's actually a bug in Logic, as it should always display the waveform.

  • Adobe Captivate has stopped working -- BEX64 error

After completely maxing out my hard drive (ouch!) while running Adobe Captivate 7, I am no longer able to launch Captivate. I receive the following error message:
    Adobe Captivate has stopped working.

I've seen a few threads on this Problem Event Name, but the fixes don't appear to work in this case. Perhaps because of what triggered this error?

Contacted Adobe Support. This was an easy fix for Mayank.
He navigated to Users\Venderley\AppData\Local\Adobe. There he found the Captivate 7.0 folder and renamed it "Captivate 7.0_old"
    Did the same Users\Venderley\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Captivate 7.0.
Then ran Captivate on my laptop as an administrator.
Captivate reset all my preferences, and now launches.
Hope the this helps anyone else who comes up with a similar issue.

  • Adobe programs dont work with Captivate to capture/record

    Hi there.
I've had problems with Captivate capturing screen recording from Adobe Premier cs5, where it would not show any of the video which was being edited.  I figured this was just the video issue and worked around it by just not showing the video preview for the small thing i was demonstrating, it wasnt a big deal if it was just isolated to this.
Next I was using Adobe Photoshop and setting up a little demo on how to fill objects.  Captivate did not pick up the cursor, it shows a ugly black box.
I also want it to pick up the full motion of my mouse cursor in photoshop, but it doesnt come close, so as im narrating how to do something, my actual mouse is not showing at the same time as im saying it which is essential when you are trying to show a way to FILL a certain area of a shape.
I had plans to do many things with captivate, now it seems i am going to have to switch back and forth with Camtasia, convert to AVI the parts that Captivate does not handle, and then import them into Captivate to make my demonstrations look seemless???
I have a lot planned for Adove CS5 Flash, is this also going to give me the same problem?
I have already searched for a solution tot his, and everyone has said that captivate does not capture things where there is overlayed content etc etc...
This strikes me slightly insane when Camtasia does it so well, and Im using an Adobe program to provide training on Adobe programs...
If anyone knows any delevopers for captivate on here, can they PLEASE look at this right now as im slapping myself wondering why this is the case and how im going to plan to do all the simulations half with camtasia and half with captivate on Adobe products we use at my work.....
Oh see the below link around slide 42 to get an example of what im saying here..
    http://www.blcstudents.com.au/tutorials/col-fill/colour-fill.htm
    or you can check out
http://www.blcstudents.com.au/tutorials/wp/?page_id=35 its at the bottom of the page.
Anyway im worried about what to be doing at this point, I got captivate for adobe products, not for other products and programs out there.
    Cheers for any help,
    Ben.

Just out of curiosity, are you able to modify the mouse cursor AFTER doing the captures once you're back in Captivate editing them?
For example, are you able to select the mouse for the slides where it added this wierd square cursor, then choose the normal arrow cursor from the Properties tabl > Options accordion?
Or are you able to delete the mouse from these same slides, and add it back again, and then select the cursor you want?
Have you found that there is nothing you can do to change this particular cursor on these slides?

  • Why does my iPod Touch stop recording videos when it says low battery

OK I would record a long video, about 20 minutes to be approximate. In the middle of my recording, my iPod tells me my battery is low - I have 20% of battery left. But when the message shows up, it stops recording my video and shows a closed lens on the camera!!!
Then I have to force close the app then restart it. Then I have to make a second video. Is there anyway to tell the iPod Touch low battery warning to shut the f**k up and stop interrupting and stopping my recordings? It is VERY annoying. Please reply soon.

Not that I know of. The 20% warning is like the low fuel light on your car's gas tank, it doesn't know when you'll run out of gas only that it's soon. The reason it stops what your doing is to protect the battery. Completely discharging the battery is very bad for the battery and shortens the life of the battery. Hope this helps, Good luck.

  • Photo Booth has stopped recording Videos all of a sudden??

    Hi all,
on my iMac only 6 months old, all of a sudden after working fine Photo Booth today has decided to stop recording videos.
The app launches, green light comes on and the picture/video shows, i press record and it counts down but the counter doesnt move although the picture is still there.
Press stop and it loads a black screen and plonks it in the library thing at the bottom of the picture..  Very odd.
I have trashed the Preferences and this does nothing,
Have deleted the other videos so its not a space issue?
Wondering if anyone else has the same thing???
    Any help greatly accepted,,
    Many thanks

Does anyone know where you can get a version of Photobooth? I didnt have any disks of the OSX lion that shipped with my iMac?
