Captivate 4 previewing and publishing issues

I downloaded and installed Captivate 4 on my computer. I'm a
current user of Captivate 3. I imported one of my projects into
Captivate 4, but when I try to Preview or Publish the project
nothing happens.
When I published the project to HTML, it only created the
"standard.js", "ProjectName.htm" and "ProjectName.swf". I'm
wondering if anyone else has ran into this issue with Captivate 4
and how I can fix it.
BTW, I just checked, and this only happens with the project
that was created using Captivate 3.

@_toll you are a genius. I've lost 5 hours worth of work trying to resolve the same issue. One more note to add to your instructions is that I found that (step 2) the message asking you to "Save As" pops up behind the Cp4 screen. So if you are stuck in "Reading Project" mode check to see if there is a pop-up message behind.
Uuuuuggggghhhh, Adobe why are you so hard to get along with?!?!

Captivate preview and publish text does not match slide. (Magic Shrinking Text)

The text size on the Captivate slide matches the PowerPoint. So far so good.
When I preview (or publish) the SCORM module, the text shows up as a smaller size and moved to the left. I don't understand why it doesn't match the original captivate slide. It seems like it's arbitrarily shrinking some of the text. (Other slides come across just fine.)

Preview and Publishing Issues

I have the trial 2008 Xcelsius 5.0.0.99 version and have created a dashboard with 43 objects. Everything was going great until I added 5-row, 2-column price array. Now, when I preview or publish, I get a blank screen with an "Initializing . . ." box and it is frozen. I can click preview again and it instantly goes back to edit mode.
If I delete the price array out, it still will not preview. However, if I create a new, simplier dashboard, it previews fine.
After searching the forum, I have upgraded my Flash Player to 10.0 and upgraded my laptop memory to 2GB - which I needed to do anyway.
Is there a fix for this?
After reading some ov the other postings, I do not think that my dashboard is too complicated. Please confirm.
I would be happy to send my dashboard to you for review if it would help.

Looks like your using a relatively old version. Can you patch your install to the latest version SP1, FP3 and try again?

Preview and Publish Problems

When I only have a few slides in a Captivate file - it will
preview and publish fine. When I have more than a few slides in
Captivate it will only preview and publish the first few seconds of
each slide.
Help!

Can you give us more detail?
* How many slides total are we talking about?
* What are you seeing that is telling you that only a few
seconds are there?
* Do the slides show then disappear? Or do they pause and you
don't see the rest if you click somewhere?
* How did you record? (Demonstration, Simulation, Full
Motion)
Hopefully with more information we might offer suggestions...

Losing links of images on Preview and Publish.

Some images are not linking on Preview and Publish (Beta7). I have relinked (even going back to the original in Photoshop) and re-published again, those link up but then other images stop linking and do not load. Ones that were working fine just minutes ago.

Here is the link to a recently published site. On the Publish I did about 30 min. before all the images were loading. Now on this page two are not. When I wrote the question yesterday 6-7 images were missing, randomly. One than publish again three, than more. Since yesterday I went back to a earlier saved version and made some minor type changes and links, not involving any of these images. The first time I published today, all the images were linked. It seems the longer I work with the file the more images seem to disappear. An swf file does not show up in the website even though you can see it in preview and publish

I created a swf file from a mov file in Adobe Encoder. Thge movie shows up in Muse in both the preview and publish mode.
Does not show up in the webstie. The html file is in the assets foder and the swf file is in the image folder and the space is blank.
When i encoded the .mov file I saved it as FLV. Web 1920 x 1080, 16 x 9 5.4 Mbps is the setting for Flash Web Video when i encoded the file.

To see all the History and Cookie settings, select:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
* Tools > Options > Privacy > History: [X] "Remember download history"

I'm using Captivate 8 and publishing courses to our LMS. As an end user, I can complete a course using IE, but not Chrome. Is there a setting that I am missing for other browsers?

Sorry if i wasn't more clear but was that response needed?No it wasn't needed, but I'm not the one asking for help so I have the luxury of not worrying too much about it. It's extremely frustrating trying to drag relevant information out of someone, and makes one less inclined to bother.
Anyways, there's still nothing in this thread that actually explicitly says "there is a file called VolcanoApp.java in the directory where I'm running javac from" and I really can't be bothered banging my head against the wall any longer. You've made a silly mistake, or a false assumption. We all do it from time to time. My advice is, take a break, go for a walk and re-visit this in a while. You'll probably spot the mistake right away.

Captivate 5 - Screens won't advance in preview and publish

Hi,
I have just started using Captivate 5 and I am working on some courses that are about a mobile software application so I am capturing the screen shots in a small size and then want to rescale the project to a larger size so I can put other content on the slide. After recording the screen captures, I have gone into to Modify... Rescale Project. I leave the Maintain Aspect Ratio Checked and choose the Preset size of 790 x 545. I click the Keep Project the same size and position in the project and leave the Position Project at Center and click Finish. When I go to preview the course most of the screens will be in the correct position but some of the screens are in the upper left portion of the screen while the mouse movements stay in the correct position on the slide and the previous slide also shows in the center of the screen. Very Frustrating! Can anyone give me any ideas? I need to create 11 of these courses and this is a major stumbling block.
If this feature doesn't work does anyone have any other work arounds?

Do the slides that DON'T seem to behave as you expected happen to have any similarities?
For example, are they FMV slides (look for a little movie camera icon under them), or are they slides where you recorded typing in some text?

Captivate 6 and IE issues

Hello Everyone,
I am using a PC, Win 7 OS, 64 bit, 3.2 GHz with 24 GB RAM.
Using Captivate 6, I developed an overview with voice-over: project is 27 MB.
The project was working fine and publishing. I attempted to place one of our eLearning swf intros onto the first slide (5 MB), and the file started displaying issues. First, the background of slide 3 would display parts of itself on slide 5. I deleted the .swf opening, replaced it with a static png and the backgrounds cleared up.
When I work in Captivate, the slides function as they should. However, when I publish the file (SWF player 9, 10, 10.2 and 11), instead of playing each slide, it will move to a new slide, show the background and play the audio. However, the playbar displays the "play" triangle and none of the interactions ( or text) that are timed will play. You then have to click the play button 3 or 4 times for the slide to show the textboxes/ highlightboxes and click boxes.
This is the same in IE and Firefox.
I tried removing the timing issue by having all the items load with the slide. They will all load, but you cannot move forward unless you select the play button 3 times.
I have experienced a few weird things with Captivate 4, 5, and now 6; but this has me stumped.
Any thoughts?

We are having some of the same issues with Captivate 6.
Our files are not large, 20 to 40 mb average.
We almost never use transitions - actually make that never.
These have no video, no external swf files.
Randomly... the published files and the Preview in web browser, fail to play audio files.
It is most often the first slide with audio, but happens randomly throughout the file.
To fix, I move the audio file a couple of 10ths of sec one way or the other and the slide publishes fine the next time, but some other slide(s) then picks up the problem.
Occasionally there will be graphics or parts of graphics from a previous slide show up on later slides (no, they are not set to "rest of project") and also slides that "red screen".
When graphics "ghost" and "red screen" happens the only way to fix those slides is to re-create the them deleting the old one (corrupted slide?). I believe "red screen" was a memory problem? our computers meet the minimum requirements for running Captivate 6.
What is really weird is that these problems have been getting worse, every week we are having more and more problems.
2 computers running 64bit and 3 running 32 bit.
We have started clearing cache several times a day... restarting the program before and after the cache delete, and rebooting the computers. I have now spent the last 10 hours or so trying to get one file to publish without errors.
Project Info....48 slides, Time 6 mins 27.1 secs (11613 frames) Resolution: 800 x 600 with 0 hidden slides, cptx size 26,223 KB, published swf size 10,258 KB. All of our files are published twice, once with and once without SCORM 1.2 reporting.
This project had some sides copied into it from a file that was upgraded from 5.5 to 6. All of our templates were originally created in 5.5 and converted to 6.
We are getting less and less done every day. In the last two days our productivity has ground to halt.
Please help, I really don't know what to do at this stage. If the files would revert, I would go back to 5.5 just to get some projects delivered.

Jigsaw puzzle shows up weird in preview and publish. Help!

I'm using a trial version of Captivate 8, and I added a Jigsaw Puzzle interaction, with no funky settings. I didn't resize or even move the interaction either. It's sitting in the middle of my slide.
However, whenever I preview or publish, the many of the pieces of the puzzle are scattered off-screen and I can't even see them, let alone move then in order to complete the puzzle.
Here's a sample of my preview (the puzzle is supposed to have 16 pieces). Doesn't look any better in the "1024" view.
Did anyone else encounter this? Or know how to fix it?

Interesting...you're right! I can finally see all of the pieces.
I wonder if there's a way to get rid of that hint picture though. I unchecked the "hint" box but it's still there.

Recorded Software Simulation-Comes out strange in preview and published format

I was creating some projects and the first project called 1demo, works, both as an SWF and as a normal cptx(version 5).
It can be view and run correctly.
The other demo files I did after that do not work, and if you view the result called swf 2demo, and 3 demo as swf files, on the webpage above, you will see my problem. I inlcuded the cptx files so you can download what i have done and see the result.
As single slides, or 5 slides at a time they play fine, hwoever when I publish them as a project they go strange. I do not have any unusual settings, just the default ones set. screen size of 1024 by 768.
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Every Flash SWF gets published for a particular Flash Player version (8,9,10 etc) and an ActionScript version (2, or 3).
So if your Flash file was created with CS3 there is a very good chance that it was published for ActionScript 2 and that is what is fouling up your Captivate movie.
Try removing these Flash files from the content and republishing to test whether this is causing the issue.
If you still get the issue when there are NO SWFs included that were not created with Captivate 5, then you need to look at other elements that might also be AS2. For example, your SKIN and Playback bar are also actually SWFs. If the Skin and bar originated from an earlier version of Captivate that was published for AS2 then they may need to be removed and replaced with one of the skins and bars that came with Cp5.
Preloaders are also SWFs. Remove the current preloaders as well.
I've never seen this particular issue occur UNLESS there was some AS2 element fouling up the project. Find and remove that element or elements and you should be fine.

Preview and Publish Errors

I just started trying Muse (as a trial). And I can't preview or publish the site I created.
PREVIEW
When trying to preview (both within the app and in the browser) the following error appears:
Preview failed because Adobe Muse could not make a connection over HTTP. The most common cause of this is Firewall software which prevents HTTP connections. You may need to change Firewall settings to allow Adobe Muse to make connections.

I added all Adobe apps to exclusions in my antivirus.
I added all Adobe apps to the Trusted category in my firewall (allowed all types of connections).
I tried completely turning off both the antivirus and the firewall.
I restarted Muse, restarted the PC - no result.
All other applications connect to their sites OK.
STRANGE:
If I select 'HELP' menu and press the 'Sign in' option, Muse signs in no problem. So it CAN make a connection over HTTP!!! (As far as I understand it.) So, what's the problem with the preview then?

COMODO Internet Security used as both antivirus and firewall.
Adobe AIR and Application Manager all up to date.
PUBLISH
When I try to publish the following error appears:
An unexpected Adobe Business Catalyst error [0, 0] has occurred. This may be caused by a temporary outage during maintenance. Click OK to view Adobe Business Catalyst system status.

same here, preview does not works in muse and edge code, just tryed it out default br both.
Code opens my browser chrome, but then gets stack and asks me to reslait in debuging mode, allowing it, does not solve the problem, keeps the same result.
in muse i have the same picture here, publishing and ftp works just fine!

Background is blank when previewed and published

Ok - I am getting really irritated! The background of my
slide is there when editing, but when I preview or publish the
project, the background is white. All the captions and mouse
movements are there but no background! What do I do?

Use count is 1. There is nothing covering the slide. This is
only happening with one slide. I even tried copying and pasting the
background from another slide on to the one that isn't working

Muse does not Preview and Publish anymore

Hi all,
I have been using the Adobe Muse (trial) for some days now, and all of a sudden I can not preview or publish my website anymore. Upon publishing I get the message:
"Unknown Adobe Business Catalyst error has occurred.
Status: 0, 0."
Muse was working perfectly until now, what do I do? Publishing the site earlier did not seem to be a problem either.

Hi,
Please Deactivate Muse from Help menu and relaunch Muse and follow the on screen prompts. Once done try to publish again and let me know if you get any error message.
