Captivate 5.5 offline help files

Is it possible to setup offline help for adobe captivate 5.5?

There's a link in the upper right corner of the LR help screen that lets you see a PDF of the help file.
Once you have that showing in your browser, there's a "save" button. The PDF is about 10 megabytes, but you only have to download it once.

  • Cannot find CS6 offline help file

    Hi,
When I try to opne the Dreamweaver CS6 help file by clicking on help in the help menu or F1 Dreamweaver opens the site http://helpx.adobe.com/de/dreamweaver/topics.html but not the offline help file. I can see that the Adobe help applcation gets started but it terminates after a few seconds. How can I open the offline CS6 help file? Why idoes Adobe help application terminates after a few seconds? Thank you for your help.
    Regards

The answer above is not quite what the first post asked.
In many parts of CS6 - like setting up a site for instance, there is a help button that does not work if you are offline. Local internet services in my part of the world are rubbish at best and hopeless at worst, so it is not always possible to get on line help. This does not help the working day at all.
I have an installation of CS5.5 and when I click on a help link within the program, it finds my offline help files and displays the correct help for the topic.
I just installed CS6 for the first time on a new PC expecting the same. There appears to be no offline help available, nor can I see any way to install it.
After a major search operation on the adobe website, I did find two pdf help files for CS5, one of which has some help for CS6, but not a lot, and another that contains the same help  + 20 or so pages for the creative cloud version, which is of no use to me. For a program that cost a vast amount to purchase, removing the built in help is not what I expected, though I am not at all surprised.
So is there a way to set up offline help without having the pdf file always open just in case? Or are we stuck with a no help system?

  • Adobe Reader X: offline help file?

    hello,
I'd like the F1 link on the Help Menu to open a local offline Help file, not start my browser to go to Adobe's online HTML help pages. Is this possible? Where do I find the necessary file(s)?
I already have saved the reader_X_help.pdf file available via a link on the online Adobe pages, which I certainly will read to get the maximum out of the reader, but context-sensitive F1 key offline help is very convenient and much faster than starting my browser.

Does anyone know were I can obtain the French version of the help pdf?
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/reader/using/reader_X_help.pdf
I've tried changing the language local as per Adobe's suggestions to fr_FR, fr_CA, and CA_fr.
It is always redirected to the en_US link above.

  • Lightroom 3 offline help file location?

I'm sure this has been answered 2 million times already in this forum but various searches ("offline lightroom help file") don't get me very far (I have found the URL for 2.0 though...). Checked the Lightroom FAQ and release notes too.
Any pointer will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
(shame on Adobe for making it so hard to find something so essential - what about a direct link to download this from the help menu?)

Top right corner of linked page http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/3.0/Using/index.html Click on pdf symbol to download.
It's also worth noting that when connected to internet above is the page you get taken to when you click Lightroom Help in the application Help menu or hit F1

  • Keeping offline help files up-to-date

Months ago, I've downloaded the help files for all the CC applications to my Shared/Documents/Adobe/PDF/pdf/ folder for offline help when hitting F1 from within the application. And that's fine, it works.
But now I wonder, how do I keep them easily up-to-date.
I know I can go to that page again and download them manually over and over again... but that's a hassle.
Then I tried to remove the offline files to restore the online link, but that doesn't work.
How do you get online help back under the F1 button?
Or is there a solution to to refresh the offline files with a single click?
    Any ideas?

Jeff, it's NOT a specific product inquiry!
I have 15 offline help pdf files, for 15 products (AE, AU, BR, DW, FL, AI, IC, ID, PS, PL, PR, ...). It is an installation question. I can't go post this question in each of the 15 products, right?
I know you want to help, but this is discussion about being a the right forum is not helping me... sorry.
So back to the real problem:
I know that my link shows the pdf's for the OFFLINE help.
I want the ONLINE link back, as it is with a default installation.
I know that this is possible because here at work I have them offline, while at home I use the online help.
    EDIT:
When I create a new user in OS X, that user has the online help system. So there must be a preference setting in my local user folder that regulates that. I could try to delete all my preferences files, but that is a bit drastic and time consuming to reset everything to my likes.

  • Where Can I Download Offline Help Files for Creative Cloud?

The heading says it all. I am not always connected to the internet and, in any event, I find the on-line help annoying and tedious. I can only find PDF help files for CS4, where can I get them for CS6?

That is not off-line help, it is simply a PDF file full of links to on-line resources. It is next to useless. I want to be able to look at teh help document and get answers to questions, not links to answers.

  • Speicherort für Lightroom 3 Mac offline help files?

    Hallo,

    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Help/de_DE/Lightroom/3.0/Using
Jetzt findet LR3 seine Offline-Hilfe wieder

  • Flash CS4 Help File Offline What Happened to Tag Defintions Showing UP?????

Ok I know I can set the help system to browse offline however
this doesn't work correctly for any less then ActionScript 3. When
you highlighted a word in the past such as "null" it use to pull up
the word and the info in all the books. Now all I see is a web
browser that doesn't do this for me. I mean who sits there at
adobe's end and thinks up of ways to slow someone down like this??
How can you remove the core help quick linking from the program.
Number 1 not everyone is on AS3 and some of us still have to update
    AS2 code.
Bigspace ships has an air application that installed AS3 flex
reference but again useless unless you are on AS3. Has anyone found
another way to get this old school functionality to work on
    CS4???

Jay Armstrong here. I’m one of the writers who works on
    the Flash docs.
Regarding this comment and the many others in other threads
that have added important details about the issues with the help
workflow, and in particular the ActionScript help workflow: We hear
your pain and we are working to implement solutions to these
    issues.
I understand that this new help workflow is more painful than
in CS3 when you had the Help right in its own panel in the product.
    Here’s some background:
The implementation of Help within the Flash Help panel prior
to CS4 required that *all* the Help files be installed on the local
drive with the product, resulting in some issues that we tried to
address in CS4. Including Help on the installation disc caused
    issues including:
    - Required that Help be completed much earlier for
    localization and end-game testing.
    - Resulted in static Help files that had been completed early
in the development cycle, sometimes not accounting for last minute
    UI or other changes.
    - A long install process.
    - Crowded the installation disc.
These aren't meant to be full explanations of why we made the
changes, but just some background as to some of the things we were
thinking about. Clearly the decisions we came to weren't the right
ones for many users. We are intent on making things better.
Moving Help online makes it possible to update Help on an
ongoing basis, allows users to comment on and embellish the Help,
and allows us to add links from the help out to new articles,
tutorials, videos, and code samples on adobe.com and throughout the
Flash web community. One of you rightly pointed out that the Adobe
Updater could have been used for some of this, but I believe that
the updater would have required much more rigorous certification by
us of any update packages and the update/install process for each.
We actually are updating the online help files very frequently, so
this process would have been a major barrier to these updates.
We’ve had a struggle about how to deliver the Flash
Help for a long time, as we have a lot of users who have been quite
vocal about not liking the Help panel consuming space within the
Flash window as well as users who really want it there so they
don’t have to leave the IDE.
Having said all that, I still totally understand what
you’re saying about losing your code, glance, code, glance,
code workflow. As you probably know, we’ve been getting a lot
of feedback about this, along with other issues that online Help
has caused. We are actively looking at ways of solving these, but
the Help-in-a-browser issue a difficult problem, as this aspect of
the Help implementation is baked fairly deep into the CS4 product.
Since CS4 shipped, we have implemented solutions to some of the
issues with Help raised by users, such as allowing you to select
the default destination of F1 (though Flash CS4 always went to the
actual Help system rather than the Flash Help and Support page,
which is what these users wanted in other products). I just
don’t know if there will be a solution in the CS4 time frame
for viewing Help within Flash itself. As noted in this thread,
there are a few independent developers working on non-browser help
viewers, such as Jamie Kosoy, Technical Director at Big Spaceship,
whose AIR application for the CS4 Language Reference docs is
    available at
    http://labs.bigspaceship.com/2008/12/09/air-app-as3-language-reference/.
We knew that people use the AS3 Language Reference a lot, so
we did install a local, abridged version of that with the product.
You only see it when not connected to the internet or if you
disable online connections as described earlier in this thread, and
it still opens in a web browser and still has the same navigation
interface as the online version. You can also download a local copy
of the AS Reference, which does get updated periodically and can be
viewed locally regardless of the state of your internet connection,
but it also is all html and opens in a web browser. As previously
noted, the download is available here:
    http://help.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flash/10/ActionScript3LangRef.zip.
I know this thread started off with AS2 concerns, and we hear
    those too.
In some of the other threads out there about the Help, people
have raised issues about the contents navigation in the CS4 version
of the ASLR as well. We are listening to all these issues and
actively working on solutions that will address these questions.
We’d really like to give you better control over whether you
see online or local content, whether you see it inside the IDE or
    in a separate application, etc.
I know that you are all really frustrated at some of these
help changes, and so I want to say how much we appreciate your
feedback. I’m sorry that my reply doesn’t give you the
magic bullet that you are understandably hoping for.

  • Can't Access Adobe Captivate Help files

    Hi,
I've installed Adobe Captivate 5 and upgraded it to 5.01.624. Addionally, I noticed that I can't access my Help files.I've also noticed that I can't access help from Photoshop CS5 as well.  However, I've installed the latest Adobe AIR 2.6. I've checked the Common File folder and I have an Adobe Air folder with a folder labelled Versions and a file labelled sentinel.  I'm on Windows 7.   Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello,
Download the Help file for Captivate 5 from here :

    Thanks

  • Adobe captivate 5 help file pdf

Under the Help menu, Adobe Captivate Help (F1), the help file does not open, and there is no error message. Does anyone know of another way to access the help file?

    Hello,
Help file is totally based on Adobe Air.
So make sure that Adobe Air is installed in your computer.
Assuming that you are running Captivate 5 on windows platform, you can find the Adobe Air folder in
    C:\Program Files\Common Files
If you dont find any, you can download Adobe AIR from www.adobe.com
    Here is the URL
    http://get.adobe.com/air/?promoid=BUIGQ
Or in such case if still you face this issue, jsut send me your e-mail address, i will e-mail you the help pdf file
    Hope it helps!!!

  • Cannot access 'Help' files in Adobe Captivate v5.0.1.625

Running WinXp\SP3 & IE7. Dual Core with 4 GB RAM, When trying to access 'Help' Captivate temporarily freezes. I can access other web links within the program. No error messages appear, program just resumes. Also applied the latest patch for Captivate 5.

    Hi
Lilybiri is absolutely right. The Help in CP is AIRHelp. So have you already installed AIR?
I believe now you have installed CP in your own PC and you are doing this for the first time and you are unable to access HELP file, so you should check in your PC that wheteher the AIR is installed or not?
If you have installed CP in the default drive (C:\Program Files\) there inside the common files (C:\Program Files\Common Files) you will find the folder for AIR.
So just make sure is that installed in your PC or not?

  • How to extract data from offline PDF files as batch processing

    Hello.
I want to use Adobe Interactive forms as batch processing.
    For instances,
    1. Users download offline PDF files.
    2. Users inputs data on their local PCs.
    3. Users upload these PDF files in one folder.
    4. Program can read data form PDF files on that folder. and put data to ERP at night.
I' d like to know how to implement a program with Java or ABAP.
    Regards.
    Koji.

    Hi,
It's possible to do it but first be sure that the SAP system can read the directory while your program is executed in background .
Then you have to read the content of the directory and process each file you found.
Look at this standard ABAP object cl_gui_frontend_services , you will find method for browsing a directory and retrieve list of file .
Afterwards you have to process each file , for this have a look at this wiki code sample i wrote for processing inbound mail with adobe interactive form, it should help you [Sample Code for processing Inbound Mail with Adobe Interactive Forms|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/snippets/sampleCodeforprocessingInboundMailwithAdobeInteractive+Forms]
    Hope this help you .
    Best regards.

  • How do I add a feature/role to an offline .vhdx file?

Hello to Anyone that can help with this frustrating task that should be easy,
Ok I looked at Example 3 here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205467.aspx
and tried to use that format to install features and files to a .vhdx file.  I tried different syntax but no luck.  I don't know what i typed wrong or what i should type?  If i wanted to install dns to an offline .vhdx file and that file is in
my c drive, how would i type the syntax?  I have tried and failed over and over again.  Here are some of the syntax i have tried in powershell:
    install-windowsfeature dns -vhdx c:\
    install-windowsfeature dns -vhdx c:\VM TEST.vhdx
    install-windowsfeature -dns -vhdx c:\
    install-windowsfeature -dns -vhdx c:\VM TEST.vhdx
    install-windowsfeature -name dns -vhdx c:\
    install-windowsfeature -name dns -vhdx c:\VM TEST.vhdx
All these syntax are wrong and am frustrated.  btw, the file i want to add dns to is "VM TEST.vhdx"
I have researched and found this video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r30BxBawNOE
but the guy doesn't give a specific example for me to follow in regards to location of his vhd file and I am using a .vhdx.  Again all i would like to learn is how to add features and/or roles to an offline .vhdx file and i am trying with "dns"
since it is so easy to type.  What would be the proper syntax?  If anyone can chime in that would be great for this seems to be a simple 101 type of question especially for mcsa or mcse certified people out there.  I am totally new to this and
can't do this one simple task.  Help please.

    Hi,
You install a feature/role to a VHD with the -Switch VHD (even if it is a .vhdx you are pointing at...)
See my example below, that installs the DNS server on a vhdx. The switch -IncludeManagementTools do also give you the management Tools for DNS (both Powershell and MMC...)
Add-WindowsFeature -Vhd "C:\SERVER.vhdx" -Name DNS -IncludeManagementTools

  • Help file for CS5 not available on Win 7 64bit

    Hi,
I try to display the help file from within PS CS5 and that is not working. I can neither watch the community help online nor download it for offline use since the app seems unable to connect to a working online source.
It shows "The requested URL /de_DE/Photoshop/cs/using/AH_HOME.html was not found on this server."
All apss have been updated to the newest release, everything else is working fine.
I use Win 7 64bit German, PS is also installed in German.
    Any ideas?
Using a browser the help content is reached via URL http://help.adobe.com/de_DE/photoshop/cs/using/index.html
Maybe the software is looking for AH_HOME.html in error instead of index.html.
    Nachricht geändert durch Beholder003

    Hallo Beholder (und hfuhr)
(wir sprechen ja alle deutsch ... ;-)
Ich habe nun beschlossen, "not to waste my time".
