Captivate 5.5 to Android and/or iPhone App

Can someone please tell me of any tutorials about how to get an App to Android/iPhone via Captivate 5.5? I don't know the first thing about apps, at the moment, but often use Captivate to make nice applications etc. I would essentially like to know how can I design something in Captivate and then transform it into an app which I can then advertise as such for Android/iPhone users to download.
Your help is much appreciated!
Paul.

By coincidence I just saw a post on this in the LinkedIn Captivate forum:

Michael Hinze has started a discussion: Deploying Captivate demos on Android Devices
"After the recent discussion about converting Captivate demos to iPad/iPhone apps, I wondered if it is possible to deploy Captivate demos on Android devices as well. Android-powered phones and tablets are rapidly becoming more popular. After some research and testing, I succeeded in installing a Captivate demo on my Samsung Galaxy II Android phone. The conversion process is not very intuitive and required the use of Adobe’s AIR application (included with Flash CS5 and 5.5), but does allow you to convert a Captivate file to an Android app. The basic steps of the conversion are as follows: 1. Publish your Captivate project as a .swf file 2. Create a self-signed certificate (the easiest way to do this is through the AIR for Android settings screen in Flash CS 5.5) 3. Create the required XML-based manifest file that includes application description and permissions 4. From a command line, run the ‘adt’ command (see Flash CS5 help files for details) to compile the swf file into an Android app (.apk) 5. From a command line, run the ‘adb’ command (see Flash CS5 help files for details) to install the app package on your Android device. This is yet another option to re-use Captivate demos!"

  • Trouble adding printer to HP ePrint Home and Biz iPhone app - can't find printer's email address

I'm trying to connect my HP Photosmart c6380 to my iPhone. I already downloaded the app and my printer is connected to my wireless network, as is my iPhone, but I can't add my printer to the app.
When I go to "Manage ePrinters" and try to add a printer with the + button I see 3 choices:
Add ePrinter from list: "No ePrinters available"
Add Manually: I can't find the printer's email address even using the instructions found at the ePrint center.
Add from WiFi Network: My printer isn't shown in this list so it does not support auto discovery.
So I'm guessing that if I could just find my printer's email address that would connect it to my iPhone for wireless printing, but I can't for the life of me find it.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hello amybett,
I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that your printer is not Airprint/ePrint capable. However, the good news is that with the HP ePrint Home and Biz iPhone app it does not need to be Airprint/Eprint capable, as long as it is connected to the same network as your phone.
Here are the steps you will want to take to print something:
    1. Setup the app by completing the email registration and entering the code (which I believe you have).
    2. Select the item you wish to print using the menu in the app (Photo Albums, Saved Files, Web Browser, etc.).
    3. Once you select the item you should see the item and a large "Print" button under it.
    4. If the printer you want to print to is not listed above the "Print" button, select the icon on the right (wrench/computer) and select the printer you wish to use (along with other settings).
    5. Tap on the "Back" button in the top left corner, then tap "Done" (blue button in the top right corner), and then tap the "Print" button to print your item.
Let me know if you are still having trouble after following the guide above.

  • Where is the Best place to find new and good iPhone Apps?

    Hey Everyone!
I wanted to get your opinion on what are the best sites or places to find iPhone Apps.
    J.J.

I have been looking around at a lot of app sites lately.... and although appshopper is ok, I think the BEST site is:
    http://www.FreshApps.com
I find myself going there a couple of times a day finding the new apps! That is my 2 cents.

  • Importing and sharing iPhone apps between computers. (legal?)

I have several computers. Is it legal to transfer iPhone apps between computers using thumb drives or SD memory cards?
    Thanks!

This shouldn't be a problem as long as you are using the same iTunes account with another computer.
The problem is in regards to iTunes content including apps - iTunes content can be synced or transferred to an iPhone from a single computer only.
If you try to sync your iPhone with iTunes content on another computer, the iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased first before the content will be re-transferred to your iPhone - even when using the same iTunes account, so I'm not sure what would be gained by doing this unless you want to start using another computer for syncing iTunes content with.

  • Using iTunes 11 - How do you download and update iPhone Apps?

Now that Apple has quaintly updated iTunes to version 11, I can no longer find the Applications listing on the LHS column which allowed easy updating of Applications prior to an iPhone synch. Gone through all of the menus and tabs but nada. I'm needing to do this as iOS 6 has a bad habit of "hanging" application uploads and a MUCH SLOWER wireless connection ... not to mention crappy install times. Any suggestions short of using Android?! I'm also finding it interesting that Apple hasn't updated their search engines or databases to understand/accept iTunes11 OR iOS6. I hate to say it's the beginning signs of a crumbling infrastructure. Something Steve would never accept! ... and HEY ... I OWN a chunk of Apple Stock!!

OK ... so after MUCH head scratching I've learned the following:
To get to the Apps section of your iPhone:
    (1) Synch your iPhone (iPod)
    (2) From the top Left hand drop down menu in the iTunes window, select "Apps"
    (3) After your Apps all show in the window, go to the bottom Right hand side and you'll find the number of "Updates Available". Click on that radio button and it'll download the updated apps.
    (4) iTunes will bring up your "My App Updates" window
    (5) Select the "Download All Free Updates" symbol and download
    (6) Select the "Done" radio button
The App Store will then load onto your next window.
    (7) You can then select the "library" radio button in the top Right hand side and you'll see your "iPhone/iPod" radio button appear on the top Right hand side of your next window. Select and synch!
Sort of a convoluted method ... but it works!!

  • Cannot authorize my mac and all iphone apps will be deleted!

As I sync my iphone to my mac, at the end of the syncing process, I get the message:
(My OS is in Swedish, so these are my own translations into English.)
"This mac is no longer authorized for apps installed on the iphone device. Do you want to autorize this mac for objects purchased from the iTunes store? If you do not authorize your mac 101 apps and their data will be deleted from this iPhone."
As I try to authorize it (Yes, with the correct account name and password) it just says:
"An error occured when authentication information was saved on this mac.
The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Fix the problem and try again, or deauthorize if the permissinons cannot be changed."
As I searched apple support I read somewhere that syncing required the shared file. I showed that file´s info and set my (I´m an administrator) rights to reading and writing. It did not help.
I then ran the Disk Utilities application to fix my permisssions. It did not work.
I then tried to shut down iTunes, I could not even close it.
I tried to deauthorize my mac, but I just got the same error message as above.
I know I have had problems before with permissions in different applications, but they have always been solved by just changing the permissions in the "show info" of the file.
I would love to just make a full system restore, but I´ve got almost 1TB of stuff on my hd, and it would just take forever...
    What do I do?
    Please help! I´m desperate! Thanks!

Your iPod can only be synced with one iTunes library at a time. If you try to sync the iPod with a new computer, everything that is currently on the iPod will replaced with the contents from the new library.
If you do not wish to lose your Apps, you can use the File -> Transfer Purchases option to move them over to the new PC.

  • Can i use unc or ucwa web api to build android and windows phone app ?

is there anyway to develop custom client application using unc web api ( android, ios, windows phone ) with following features
App to app audio / video calling
App to app audio conference call
    App to app messaging

Instant messaging is perfectly supported already by UCWA, audio/video are not at this moment.
UCWA can be used by any platform/device that can 'speak HTTP', so yes the platforms you mentioned are suitable UCWA clients.
You may adopt third party solutions and combine them with UCWA within your app in order to achieve audio/video call support.

  • Ipad apps and ipod/iphone apps?

If i want to buy angrybirds HD for the ipad am I also purchasing it for my ipod touch or do i have to pay again for the ipod touch version? Thanks in advance.

If they are two separate apps, as they are in this case, yes, you have to buy each one. Some apps work for both (app icon has a little + in one corner) so you only have to buy one app but it is optimized for both devices.

  • Captivate 7, PhoneGap Builder on Android and iOS tablets

    Hello all,
I apologize if some of these questions are basic but searching the forums and online aren't turning up any answers I can discern. My company has decided to move into the mobile market for our E-Learning content, more specifically we want our customers to be able to use our content on tablet devices. I'm creating content with Adobe Captivate 7 using HTML5 animations. I have been able to publish my project as HTML5 and then use the PhoneGap Build tool to add the HTML5 animations to the project. However, I have no experience in app development and I'm running into a roadblock when trying to publish as Android and iOS compatible apps. I'm able to add the .wgz file to the android tablet but I have no idea how to run it or make it work. We just want our projects to play on Android and iOS tablets. My questions are thus:
    - Is publishing our modules in App form the only way to accomplish this?
    - When trying to publish to Android/iOS I am asked for a "Package". What does this mean? I've watched the following tutorial: Package the HTML5 content for devices using Adobe Captivate 7 App Packager - YouTube but it doesn't go into detail as to what he package is.
    - From what I understand Android and iOS apps need certificates and signatures. Are these required for our members to be able to download our modules and run them on their tablets? Can someone direct me to a source for me to learn about and apply for these credentials?
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
    - Nick

Just to clear up my third question, I'm not asking whether our customers will need a set of these credentials to access our content, I'm asking if its required I get these credentials to publish the content.

  • HT201272 I previously downloaded iphone apps and stored them on my phone and computer. Now I want to download them to my ipad but my iphone bit the dust. how can I get previously purchased apps to my new ipad.?

I purchased an application that offered all kinds of books, imbedded within, at no cost...now on IPAD all like books, study guides, are imbedded for purchase. I dont see why I have to pay for the application twice...It was Olive Bible : offering on my phone at least 5-10 different  translation, plus 20+ books by the old Church preachers dating back to the reformation forward. Please advise how to access my iphone apps...already paid for...to install on my ipad.

If they are still in the store and you are signed in with the same account (and they are compatible with iPads) then you should be able to download them on your iPad via the Purchased tab in the App Store app - you may need to tap the 'iPad Apps' button at the top left of that screen and select 'iPhone Apps' instead.
Or if you have on your computer's iTunes you can connect the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar (on iTunes 11 you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC) and then use the Apps tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select and sync them to your iPad.

  • App not showing on the iphone App Store

    Hi all,
We just released ou iOS app on the App Sore from the state "Pending Developer Release" about 6 hours ago.
Its version 2 of an app that was only available on iPad, but this new version is built fo both iPad and iPhone.
The App Store on iPad has been showing the new version for about 2 hours, but the iPhone App Store doesnt yet show the app.
Its possible that propagation times are different for the different devices' stores? But we were just wondering if anyone has any experience with DPS apps released for iPhone and iPad?
We've looked for the app on the South African store and the USA store but its nowhere to be found. (its configured to be available on all countries' stores) The browser link below is our app - it states that the app is 'designed for both iPhone and iPad' and 'Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch' - so we believe our app itself isnt the problem.
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/edgars-club-magazine/id915716936
Any ideas where we went wrong? or should we just be patient?
    thanks, Vauneen

looks like propagation for the ipad app store and the iphone app store are different. our app was on the ipad store after about 5 hours, iphone store took about 11 hours.
(this wasnt for approval, this was after we release it from 'pending developer release')
    Thanks again Neil,

  • All but one iPhone app mysteriously deleted after 2.02 update

Big bummer. Paid and free iPhone apps now gone. Probably about 20 in all. Anyone else have this problem?

Yes! I just installed the update. Went to sync my iPhone. It gave me a message that said, "there are purchased applications on your iPhone that are not in your iTunes library, do you want them transferred to your library?" Naturally I clicked on YES. After the sync.....ALL of my applications are gone....probably about 15...some paid and some free. Actually one application is still there for some strange reason, a free one.
Does anyone know what we can do in a case like this? It said it was backing up my iPhone before the sync. However, I don't see any of them in my iTunes library!

  • Launchpad:  Are iphone apps usable

Is this only for organizing apps or can you actually have access, open and use iphone apps on your computer.  I'm assuming the apps would be synched ?!?  There is an iphone app I would love to be able to use on my computer.
    Thanks

Having said that, some of the more famous apps have created support for your computer, however it is unlikely they talk between each other/sync though depending on the app, they might. your best bet is searching for the app you want in the app store on your computer and cross your fingers they made something for the computer platform.
Things like Twitter and Angry Birds are available.
If you see a good use for the App on your computer, then you might want to contact the people who make it. Most of the time, they're very good and replying to your queries on trying to make support for new platforms.
    hope this helps.

  • Adding search to Dashcode (converted to a native iPhone app using webview)

I'm developing an iPhone app using Dashcode and would like to add Search capabilities (e.g search through all the content in this app). Does anyone know how to add this using Dashcode? I'm converting the app to a native iPhone app using webview in Xcode. Just need a button with a search field and the output to be displayed somewhere....
Any tips/help or URL links much appreciated.

  • IPhone App Testing

I am having an iPhone app developed, and the developer is asking for my Apple Credentials and UDID of my devices. Is this normal practice for testing, and distributing iPhone apps?

The developer only needs your UDID so he can send you Ad-Hoc builds of your app which you can then install via iTunes.
He does not need nor should you ever give him (or anyone else) your Apple ID and password.
