Captivate 5.5 With Windows 7 Starter?

Will Captivate 5.5 install and be useable on a Samsung N145 netbook? The Samsung N145 comes with Windows 7 Starter.
Thanks,
Paul.

I can't answer your question but if I was you I would try and download the trial version of Captivate 5.5 on the Adobe website and try it out.

  • Use PS5 with windows 7 starter

    Hi,
Do you know if it's possible to use Photoshop 5 in a note book with windows 7 starter?
    Thanks & regards

the system requirements for photoshop cs5 seem to indicate no.
I see only "Windows 7" there.  What makes you think it won't work with Windows 7 Starter?
To charrisub, DO make sure your notebook's hardware specs meet the minimum requirements shown on the page MTSTUNER quoted, especially the screen size (it MUST have at least 768 pixels vertically).
The best thing is to download the free trial and run it.  If you do choose to license it, no new download/install will be required - you'll just have to enter a serial number.

I have a Toshiba netbook with Windows 7 STARTER.
Are there any special procedures I should follow? A different version I need to install, or something?
I want to find answers before I start downloading and having trouble...
Also, Home Sharing works with laptops (in my case, netbook) too, right?
    Thanks in advance (:
No special proccedure, just follow the iTunes Windows 7 download instructions.
Make sure you have a wired connection and connected power (especially).
Yes, home sharing works with laptops.

  • ITunes Sharing With Windows 7 Starter

I have 3 computers in my home. 2 run XP, 1 runs Windows 7 starter. All 3 have iTunes on them. I have sharing turned on for all of them. The 2 XP computers have no problem sharing a library. The 7 Starter netbook shows the library, but when I click on it to show the contents, it flashes on for a split second, then the shared library disappears from the menu. Any help would be appreciated.

Doublechecking bill ... what's the display resolution on the netbook? (In particular, is it at least 768 vertical?)
Checking because although iTunes will run on Starter, you might have some trouble changing preferences on a netbook with, say, a 600 vertical display, as per the following document:
iTunes: May not display all options at low screen resolutions

My Skype NO LONGER starts with Windows anymore!!! I HAVE to manually open Skype!!! I cheked the options and "start Skype with Windows" IS checked!!! I tried unchecking the option and rechecking it, made no difference!!! how do I fix??

Just because Skype isn't starting up automatically doesn't mean it isn't trying.  Other applications you have loading at startup could be slowing down Skype's ability to start.  You can run msconfig ( Start - Run  (Wink key + R) -  "msconfig".  Under the startup tab you can see if Skype is set to start or not.  You can also uncheck everything else but Skype and see if it comes up them.  If it does, using a process of elimination you should be able to determine the application causing the probelm.  If you do not see anything for Skype you can use the registry files provided to toggle that feature on/off just as the Skype program attempts to.

  • HT3986 Does it work with Windows 7 Starter?

    My Question Is Simple,
I just want to know if Windows starter (7) can be used on a Macbook Pro 15' 2012. thx

I do not think so, Home, Professional, Ultimate are the supported versions, and Windows 7 Starter is awful, why would you want it?

  • Captivate 5.5 with Windows 7 -- Audio breaks

Since getting a new laptop at work with a Windows 7 o/s, the audio in Captivate gives me heartburn.  I did not decide to write until a co-worker experienced the same issues.  Basically, if you record audio slide/slide using F5, it sounds fine if you play it in the audio editor or if you replay it on the timeline.  However, when you go to preview and/or publish, the audio breaks off and leaves off phrases/words at the end of sentences.  It doesn't seem to matter if I use my voice to record or if I use text-to-speech.  I have the same problem.
I'm ready to dump Captivate after using it for 5 years!

I can personally verify that Captivate 5.5 DOES definitely work on Windows 7 64bit OS.  I have it on my own PC laptop, and I have a colleague with it on his 64bit laptop as well.  I had it on a 32 bit desktop Win7 PC at my last client.
So your issue is probably due to something else.
My suggestion would be to ask your Tech person whether they have followed the recommended installation instructions for Captivate on Win7.
Setting up your computer to work with Captivate | Infosemantics Pty Ltd
It's quite possible that he's trying to install it with default locations pointing to virtual server folders or using roaming profiles etc, which Captivate does not like.  You also need to launch Captivate with Run As Administrator privileges on Win7.

  • Problem with windows XP-Start-Run

    Hello pals,
I have windows XP professional as OS. Recently, after I have installed oracle 9i, I find that my norton antivirus program as well as regedit are not running.
When I select Norton Antivirus from Start->All Programs->Symantec Client Security->Norton Antivirus, the window asking for password appears for a moment and gets closed automatically before I can even place cursor in the password text field.
In the same way, when I go to Start->Run and type 'regedit' to start the registry editor, the editor screen appears for a moment and closes on its own within a second.
What could be the problem ?
    regards,
    thomas k prakash

    Hi Thomas
By disabling I meant "disabling" :)
    Start->ControlPanel->AdministrativeTools->Services->Symantec Antivirus
Double Click and in Startup Type "disable"
    Start->ControlPanel->AdministrativeTools->Services->Symantec Antivirus Definition Watcher
Double Click and in Startup Type "disable"
Reboot and see if your access to registry has been restored. If you get your access back and it doesnt close by itself as you complained earlier then take export of your registry and uninstall AV and reinstall it.
    Hope it helps.

  • Unable to open Captivate v5.5 with Windows 7

A colleagure created a project using Captivate v5.5 / Win XP.
Now she is trying to open it with Captivate v5.5 but with newly installed Win 7.
After clicking on the file to open it, the progress bar stops at 30% and nothing else happens.
    The project does not open.
Does anyone know why this might be and how to overcome the problem?
I am on v5.5 / Win XP and it opened OK for me.
    Noel

OK here is what we have and still we have no luck.
My colleague had a laptop with Captivate v5.5 and Win XP. Everything was working just fine.
She just had Win 7 installed and is unable to open the project.
After checking - she had Admin rights and she is trying to open the project from within Captivate, and still no joy.
I sent her one of my v5.5 files, still she cannot open it.
Not being a technical person you must excuse what may seem a dumb statement but could it be that newly installed Win7 is drawing more resources (or other techinal bits) from her laptop than Wix XP did, and as a result Captivate v5.5 can no longer run correctly?
Does she need to take her lap top to IT and get them to ensure she has extra "oomph" to run Captivate now she has Win 7?

  • Can captivate work with windows application automate tools

    Hi,
I am assigned a task to create demos of some web
applications, I do not want to run the application then click and
input manually and am willing to use some windows automate tools to
record my action first, then capture the screen while doing
    automation playback.
I've recorded some actions with rational robot, but the
playback is freezed while Captivate is recording. If I stop
Captivate recording, the automation continues flawlessly.
So my question is whether captivate can work with windows
automation tools, if rational robot is not the choice, can anyone
    give me some suggestions?
    Thanks very much!

    Hi, Larry,
Rational robot is a general-purpose test automation tool (
    http://www.ibm.com/software/awdtools/tester/robot/index.html).
It can be used to record user input (mouse clicks, keystrokes,
etc.) and automatically plays back scripts that emulate user
actions interacting with the GUI of applications under test.
There are many other applications doing the same work,
including this one which is written by myself :-) (
    http://swat.sourceforge.net).
Using Captivate with automation tools is an ideal way to
create application demos because the automation scripts can be
easily created. stored and edited. Once I created an automation
script, It can be played as many times as I want.
My purpose is to create demos in the following steps:
    1) record user actions interacting with the GUI by an
    automation tool;
    2) edit automation scripts manually to modify something (ie.
    time interval between some actions)
    3) start captivate recording;
    4) use the automation tool to play back automation scripts
and record the screen by Captivate
    5) edit the demo with Captivate
    6) finish
But it seems that Captivate is incompatible with all of the
automation tools I've tested (not only Captivate, Turbodemo,
TechSmith Camtasia Studio are also incompatible). The automation
playback is freezed while Captivate is recording. If I stop
Captivate recording, the playback continues flawlessly.
I guess it's something related to windows events processing.
As you can figure out, the automation tools need to capture all the
windows events generated by target applications, it looks like
Captivate also captures some windows events of the target
application and it prevents automation tools from receiving those
events, so the automation playback is freezed.
Thanks for you reply and I am looking forward for soon
    hearing from you.

  • Remote Panel not working in Windows 7 Starter

    Hi all,
We have an application that can be controlled via remote panel. This is working fine in Windows XP PC. But when I try to access the same by opening Internet Explorer in a PC running Windows 7 Starter OS, I only get the 'Downloading 0.00% of 0 bytes'. I have disabled the Windows Firewall and there is no antivirus software also. What could be the reason for this? How could I solve this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Priyadarsini
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The system which had the problem was a netbook that came with Windows 7 Starter. We found out recently that there was some parental controls utility in the netbook that prevented the LabVIEW Remote Panel access. We were not aware of its presence & it had not shown any indication that it had blocked Remote Panel communication. We uninstalled this utility & the Remote Panel started working as intended. Thanks again for your help.

  • Can't install hp solution centerin Windows 7 starter

In order to save money on color ink, which we rarely use, in my officejet 4500 g510n,  I wanted to set all computers on the network to print with black ink only. To do this I have found that I must go thru the Hp Solution Center which  I have accomplished on all but one. That one computer is a Dell inspiron mini netbook with windows 7 starter. I have tried uninstalling and redownloading the software from the HP support site to no avail. This computer only offers me minimal installation and it only installs the driver and no other software.
I know that I can choose the settings for printing black only each time there is a print command but the user of this computer cannot always remember how to do this and, if the color cartridge is low, the document will not print at all. It just gives a low ink warning. All this is troublesome and I would like to be able to set the printer to only use the black cartridge installed.
Is there any way I can get the full software package for this netbook?

    Hi @ntmd8or
    You can change the default printing to print black only without the software if you would like;
Follow these steps to change the default print settings for all print jobs.
On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (), and then click Devices and printers.
Right-click the printer icon () for your product, and then click Printing preferences.
Select your new default print settings, and then click OK.
    - Source
Or, we can go ahead and troubleshoot the computer to get the software installed. If you would like to get the software installed, please download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows
The HP Printer Install Wizard for Window was created to help Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 users download and install the latest and most appropriate HP software solution for their HP Printer.
    I hope this helps.
