Captivate 5 Freezes when I try to Record Audio To Slide

Hello,
I'm having difficulties with recording audio to slide in Captivate 5. Recording to slides, background, and object work, but when I try to record to slide, the computer appears to freeze (until I press escape and then I can select buttons again).
I have Windows XP on my computer. I have deleted the preferences C:\Documents and Settings\name\Application Data\Adobe\Captivate, following advice on other threads, but this does not help.
This issue just started yesterday. I was able to record to slide before.
Any help would be appreciated!

Did you try upgrading the system audio drivers as RodWard suggested?

Hi -
This happens sporadically, but sometimes (e.g. right now) when I try to add audio to my Captivate 7 project it just hangs and is non-responsive.
Is this a known issue? Need some help because I'm in a time crunch here.

Have you by any chance been using a multiple monitor setup recently?
If so, then your non-responsive Captivate might just be that a modal dialog is open but you cannot see it on your current screen setup.
When Captivate becomes unresponsive again, try hitting the ESCAPE key on your keyboard. If that returns control to you, then the multi-screen issue is your likely culprit. You need to recreate the original screen setup and when you find the elusive modal dialogs (there may be more than one) drag them back over the main screen again.

Try refreshing the prefs.
1. Quit Logic.
2. Find the file com.apple.logic.pro.plist here: 'yourdisk'/Users/'you'/Library/Preferences/
3. Drag it to the Desktop
4. Start Logic. It'll create a fresh .plist file. Now see if your problem is gone or not. If it is, you can trash the .plist file on the desktop. If it isn't, quit Logic and put the old .plist file back (replacing the newer one).

Why does the letter P show up when i try to record audio into Logic Pro and no audio is audible ?!

Can anyone pleaes help as I have occured this problem today and sent hours trying to fix it and not had any luck !?!?
I always record in audio by press "R" on the channel strip but today for some odd reason the letter "P" shows up and no audio is audiable ?
Can anyone tell me what's going on ............!?!?

This is because you have Punch on the fly enabled under Options (top menu)>Audio>Punch on the Fly.... signified by the letter P instead of the letter R

Application freezes when I try to record

I'm trying to make a training tutorial with Captivate 3 for a
new version of our software. The program was done in Power Builder
10.5, and it freezes every time I try to record. Any ideas?
BTW, I'm a dietitian, not a developer. I convinced our IS
dept to purchase an upgrade to v3 so I could make these tutorials.
The powers that be chose not to buy any service plans since I'm the
only one using this and I had no problems with earlier versions of
Captivate and RoboDemo, and our software. Please advise if I need
to request more help. I suppose I can convince our unit to spring
for some help.....

Sorry no one has replied before now. I know nothing about
Power Builder, other than it is a RAD (Rapid Application
Development) tool now owned by Sybase - and that's it. Let's see
... looking ...
Just did a search for PowerBuilder and it seems this problem
is not a new one, but not widespread, either. One solution that has
been said to have worked was to open the PowerBuilder application
on a different workstation, and access it with Captivate through a
desktop screen-sharing program. Mark Fletcher (Community Expert)
suggested "Real VNC" in one thread, and it was said to work a
treat. But the idea is to use any desktop-sharing application so
that the PowerBuilder software and Captivate are separated from the
same OS.
This might not make sense to you, Judy, but if you take it to
your IT guru, it should make sense to him or her. Let us know how
it works out for you ... and best of luck.

When I try to record audio with Soundflower, the recording has no audio. What am I doing wrong?

I am an amateur DJ trying to record a mix made in Cross DJ. I followed a tutorial instructing me to use Soundflower to route my system audio to QuickTime and have had no problem routing. Yet when I record the audio with QuickTime, the recording plays no audio. What am I doing wrong? I really need this mix recorded and I have no intention of downloading extra software.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW.
If the basic troubleshooting steps don't work, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and probable replacement.

Soundbooth error when I try to record - WinFile.cpp-705

We are using Soundbooth on a high school classroom computer. When we try to record from a microphone we get the following error message: ..\..\Src\Win\WinFile.ccp-705
Does anyone know what is causing this error?
The permission rights on school computers are fairly restricted. Our school's Tech Department blames the problem on Quicktime. I think this is a permissions issue.

I have Adobe Captivate 6 and use Windows 7 Enterprise. Below is a screen shot of the error. Unfortunatley, it is in German, but it says : Adobe Captivate can't be started. Check to see if Adobe Captivate is configured to be run in adminstrator mode. If so, configure Microsoft Powerpoint to be run in administrator mode and restart Adobe Captivate.

I have a powerbook G-4 15 inch, It wont boot up and the display only works on the first try. it gets to the apple screen and freezes, when i try to restart theres no display. Help please, whats the issue here?

Help us to help you: There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.

What version of OS X are you using? If Yosemite, you need to update to 10.10.1 or higher.
In any case, start by going to the editor preferences>general, clicking this button and restarting the editor:

Mac OS X Tiger - Ai CS4 freezes when I try to open a file from either dbl-clicking on the file or opening within Ai. This happened all the time with Ai CS3 so I upgraded, now its happening with the new version. Do I need to allocate more memory to Ai? If yes, how do I do that? I worked when I first installed, but now it will not allow me to open any of my files. I do not receive an error message, and I have to force quit the app after it freezes. Download OnyX, clean out your system caches and repair permissions. If it occurs in eitehr version of AI, it hardly qualifies for the usual trash the prefs, but of course that is never wrong, too...

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.
