Captivate 5 - Linked Projects - Won't Play in Current Window

I'm a Captivate 5 user.
I have a project that has grown large enough for me to begin breaking it into individual project modules.
After reviewing online help and the forum, I decided to link the modules (vs. use the aggregator).
After much trial and error, I finally succeeded in linking the first two modules BUT, I am only able to do so by having the second project open in a NEW window. This approach will not be practical for my customers (who would have 8-10 windows open by the end of the program). Besides, I want the transitions between modules to be seamless... and appear as though it's a single program.
But when I make the change to have the the second project open in the CURRENT window, everything falls apart. When published, the second program does not start and the first program continues to play. I can see the little drop-down box (red arrow below) and I've selected the option CURRENT but this does not resolve the problem.
Please help! I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place... I can't continue to build the consolidated program larger (heavy use of video, narration, animation, and graphics)... but I can't go further without having a solution.

With help from Ravi (thanks Ravi), this problem was resolved. Here's the solution:
Open the published .html file
Right click on the open .html file
Select Global Security Settings panel (see #1 below)
The Global Security Panel appears
Add appropriate drives to to the box "Always trust files in these locations" (see #2 below)
In the example below, C and G drives were added.
Close all explorer windows and restart the publish .html file.

Installed iMovie 7.1 projects won't play/event clips will play-no volume

I just installed the iMovie 7.1 (506) update, and now I can't use the software at all.
1. My PROJECTS will not play at all. I can click on a clip and expand it (like I'm going to trim it), and play it from there... but I get no volume.
2. In the EVENTS window my clips will play, but I get no volume.
3. Even the iTunes music I put in the background on my projects won't play, so the sound issue is obviously not related to the clips.
Before I installed this new update, everything was working fine!
I've had nothing but problems since I bought iLife08 and installed iMovie. It's just not working. The previous update fixed all my problems (from the software out of the box), but I had to re-enter all the clips into new projects. Now this new update I did tonight has set me back again. This is costing me time. I've been trying to edit my trip to Europe... and this software is just not working.
HELP!!!!
Apple if you are reading these posts... your new update has problems! PLEASE FIX IT ASAP!
Also can you put a bug report on this software so I can let the developers know there is a problem.

Did you also install the iLife Support 8.1 upgrade? That upgrade is required, according to the iMovie 7.1 upgrade page.

Captivate 4 published SWFs won't play suddenly

Hello, I have been happily making Captivate 4 training, using a template. The published SWry mF movies have been playing just fine... on my PC and several others.
But today went to show off my work to the boss... who HAS successfully played previous Captivates I've made, and they won't play.
Double-clicking the HTM, or trying to open the SWF from the browser just shows a blank white screen that does nothing. What would cause a published SWF, etc., to suddenly not play on selected machines... the owner doesn't remember chanigng anything...
And, what would be my trouble-shooting sequence to try and fix this problem?

Same dog, different leg action. In other words, what you linked to is a red herring.
What I mean by that is the article you linked to is referring to an inability to preview from Captivate 3. You are talking about Captivate 4 and the issue doesn't seem to manifest until after you publish, right?
Sure, Flash Player 10 may appear to be the common link at the moment, but we don't know for sure. With Captivate 3, the issue was only with preview. The output worked just fine. So the issue there is with an internal mechanism in Captivate as you work to create your content. What you are seeing now is certainly related to the internals of Captivate, but 4 is a new beast. It would seem that 4 has maybe introduced something causing this for you.
There may have been a few other posts related to this phenomenon. But they are very few and far between. Given the widespread use of the Flash Player, if it were solely an issue with the Player, I might expect we would have seen loads of reports. But we haven't.
I'll be very interested to see what you discover. Out of curiousity, I'm guessing you have attempted different combinations of settings? AS2 VS AS3, externalizing items, etc.?

Adobe Captivate 5.5 project - slides not playing through automatically

Hello,
This is my TOC on an Adobe Captivate 5.5 project I am working on. Slide 1 transitions to 2 no problem. However during Slide 2 I notice the time counter stops and then you have to click on to Slide 3 manually to play it ( it does not just play through). This happens again from 3-4 etc. I want the recording to play through and the viewer can decide to stop/resume/move to different chapters...

Probably you have an interactive object with a pause on that second slide. That is not visible on a TOC, please post a screenshot of the timeline of Slide 2. How did you create the file?

IMovie project won't play on TV...

Hi, I have a client who is upset because the project I did for her won't play on her TV DVD deck even though the commercial DVD movies do. It plays fine on her portable DVD unit and her Mac though. I used Memorex DVD+Rdl discs thinking they would work, but nada. Any input would be very much appreciated. I am at a loss.

Screen shots would have to be posted on a Web hosting service if you have one set up.
Sounds like it's still not working??
Try a re-setup and re-start. Shut it all down and re-connect from scratch.
It's been a while since I tinkered on a Panasonic, bit I recall a menu setting that controls the DV in/out.
Check the camera menu that it's set up to pass through correctly.
Sometimes you even need to have a tape in the camera!!

Battery died while importing iPhoto video thumbnails, project won't play

I had recently added some new videos from my digital camera to iPhoto. Opening iMovie, it prompts to create thumbnails. I said yes and it said it would take about 15 minutes. My battery was low, but it looked like it would finish fine. I came back a few minutes later and the computer was off.
When I powered up again to charge, the iMovie thumbnail processing window was still up but hadn't finished. It appeared to have finished. The problem is that now a project I had completed a month ago won't play back properly. The thumbnails have a little yellow exclamation mark and flicker on/off gray. Trying to play the video usually crashes iMovie now, and it only plays back in short spurts.
My project appears to be corrupt or something. Is there a way to recover? Can I delete bad thumbnails from somewhere through Finder?

IDVD project won't play audio in media player

I created a movie in Final Cut Pro 6 and used iDVD version 7.04 to burn the video project. DVD player on my MAC plays it fine. When I try to play it in Windows Media Player, there is no audio, only video. In exploring the CD, there is an Audio TS folder with no files and a Video_TS folder with files. This is my first time using iDVD.

Why are you using the defunct (no longer supported by Microsoft for the Mac) Windows Media Player?
You should be using the DVD Player on your Mac (which you say works), or a third-party player like VLC.

I assume you mean the DVD and not a CD.
The Audio TS Folder will be empty unless you specifically burnt a Music DVD. The Video TS Folder contains all the files required to make up your DVD, i.,e. titles, chapter headings, the actual movie etc.
So it appears that everything is as it should be!

Nano Mac won't Play on iTunes Windows

A couple of quick questions...
The iPod Nano connects to my Mac with iTunes normally. However, when I tried to get it to play on iTunes XP... it wouldn't. It wouldn't even recognize it was connected. When it did, it said it needed to configure it for a PC... but configuring it for a PC would require everything, including all of the music, be erased.
1) Why is that?
2) I can't play my (Mac formatted) Nano on a PC through iTunes?
3) If the answer is yes I can, then what do I need to do to accomplish this?
Any help would be appreciated.

Followed your advice. Connects fine. But it won't play on my PC using iTunes. All of the music is grayed out. I can't even play it on the PC at work with iTunes. Is that how it's programmed now? A friend of mine had an older one and he used to bring his to work and hook it up and play the music from it using iTunes. I was even able to hook it up to my work PC and it played just fine. Won't do it with my Dell at home though... not sure what I'm doing wrong... Plays fine on my Mac though!!! LOL

Latest dvd project won't play in DVD players...

I have a iMac G5 and iDVD 4. I use FCP to edit. I have made many DVDs from files I make with exporting my sequences to quicktime. Then I import that export into iDVD, and this has always created DVDs that play in my computer and in DVD players.
For some reason, my latest project will only make DVDs that play on my computer using this method, not any of my 3 DVD players. I've checked to make sure I'm still set to NTSC, and I am. What could be causing this? Did I change a setting in FCP that I'm unaware of?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've wasted a good many blank DVDs from this glitch. Thank you!

Haha. I would love the luxury to just stop and not worry about it but unforunately I need to burn the DVD. I do not have another burner, I only have my internal one built into the iMac G5 I have.
Plus if you read through, you'd see that I have successfully burned older DVD projects just fine this week. It's just this latest project that won't burn.
If you have any suggestions related to what I might have changed or what might be different in FCP, that would be helpful. Unfortunately just stopped after 10 bucks worth is not an option.

Captivate 7, HTML5 video won't play

Hello forum,
I'm trying to make a Captivate project with video's in it.
I tryed using MP4, FLV and F4V video files but non of them will show up in google chrome.
The project just plays without showing anything, but in flash it works normally.

If you're talking about video not working in HTML5 output, upload your published content to a web server to test and make sure the web administrator has allowed video files of your specific mimetype. Don't bother trying to test the HTML5 content from your local drive. Always use a web server.

Video sync help from BB Z10 to Link - Video won't play on PC

Please help,
I am trying to sync my videos that I recorded on my Z10 to my PC using BB Link. All of my other media files have been fine and I can view them without issue. When I go to play a video on Link all I get is the sound, no picture. I have had this issue also when I tried to "share" a video by emailing it... the person only got the sound. Not sure what to do. The video is being opened on the PC using Windows Media Player. Thanks for any help!

Have accidentally deleted video clips and now an iMovie project won't play (did initially after deletion but no longer). Is there any way to rectify this? I have a very upset daughter as the video was her holiday memories....

I have deleted the video clips used to make an iMovie project as I thought the bits usedt were saved as part of the iMovie project. Initially the project still played post deletion. However it is no longer working as it says it can't find the video clips. Is this rescuable?

There's no harm in looking inside the Trash folder.
When a file or folder is deleted, it is moved into the Trash folder to give you a chance to recover it if it was deleted by mistake. Of course that means Trash folder could grow large as time goes and more files are deleted.
You can recover your movies if they are still in the trash.
You should also empty the trash if you think you don't need the files in it to free up disk space.

After moving files to new iMac, an iMovie project won't play audio music tracks

I bought new imac. Transferred files using target disk method and firewire - drag and drop. All files appear to have moved OK to new imac. But when I try to resume working on an imovie project that I had started on the old imac, the itunes music clips I dragged into a series of clips does not play the music, even though the green bar appears under the clips and the audio adjustments appear to be the same as in the old imac, which I still have. The audio that is "built in" to the original clips when the videos were made on the camera are still there and play. Help, please ? Thanks.

*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
• Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
iDVD pref file resides.
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named. com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iDVD.
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
• Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
• Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
• Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard

I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !

Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets
No of Colors - must be set to millions

Project won't play after bouncing.

I believe my project is too big or it's using too many Busses or something.
I used multiple Drum Designer tracks and a couple audio tracks and it's 4 minutes long (i don't know if any of these details matter) but I've been trying to export some of the files to audio to save space or improve the performance. I've tried just straight sending it to iTunes but a bunch of the audio tracks don't bounce over with the rest of the song. This has never happened to me before so I'm not even sure where to start..

This is the rest of the story...Premiere Elements 12 Windows 7 64 bit and going between headphone and speakers.
In my case, I needed to go through the Realtek HD Audio Manager after plugging or unplugging the headset and speakers.
When I plugged the headphone into the back of the computer (green jack), I obtained the "The current connected device is:" dialog and
placed the check mark next to Headphone. Then clicked OK to that dialog. Realtek made the adjustments and no problem using the
headphone instead of speakers at playback of the Premiere Elements 12 Timeline in the Edit area monitor.
If I wanted to revert to speakers, then I unplugged the headphone, plugged in the speakers in the back panel of the computer to get
"The current connected device is:", and placed the check mark next to Front Speaker Out, followed by OK to the dialog. When back
in Premiere Elements 12, sound from speakers was operative.
All this time, the Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio Hardware ASIO was set with check mark next to all the Output options.
I am not seeing any other opportunities to go between headphone and speakers in my computer environment.
Please let us know if your situation is comparable to my laptop of desktop computer models presented.
