Captivate 5 Quiz Pass Rate + Completing the Quiz

I have five multiple choice questions in my quiz.
I want the students to see and to answer all five.
The goal is a pass rate of 80%
Currently if someone answers the first four questions correctly a popup appears telling them they have completed the activity.
If they press OK, it jumps beyond the quiz and they do not see the last question.
I would remove the pass rate if it meant they saw all the questions but this does not seem to be an option.
How can I make sure the students see and answer all the questions - regardless of how they answer them along the way?
I have tried nearly every different setting possible and still the message pops up - "you have completed the activity" - and the quiz closes prematurely.
Any help appreciated.
Many thanks

Your welcome .
Have you used Question pool, if yes, how many Random Question Slides have you used?
If the user answers one of the question incorrectly, then will he see all 5 questions?
Have you set any Advance actions for the project.

  • How to get the output .pdf file of a quiz to report to the quiz results analyzer on my internal server (mamp)

    I created a quiz.
Created an internal server on my compute rising a MAMP.
When I publish my quiz using the multi-file publishing options...
I am able to use both the "HTML" and the "swf" output files to complete a quiz and reporting the results to the quiz results analyzer.
However, I am unable to get the output .pdf field to reporting to the quiz results analyzer.
Any help? Would this issue have to do with the Acrobat Professional setting? Captivate setting? My internal server setting? or output fuel placement?
I tired to put the .pdf file in the same MAMP root folder location as my "internalserverreporting.php and internalserverread.php files.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hello Varun,
You cqan submit the report as a JOB and export the out put to memory, once the job is complete you can read the list to display the output.
    Cheers,
    Mano
Cut & Paste form SAP help.
    Submit report ....
    EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY
Does not display the output list of the called report, but saves it in ABAP memory and leaves the called report immediately. Since the calling program can read the list from memory and process it further, you need to use the addition ... AND RETURN . Also, since the called report cannot be requested for printing, the addition ... TO SAP-SPOOL is not allowed here. In addition, you must not assign a function code to the ENTER key in the current GUI status. The saved list is read from the SAP memory using the function module 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY' and can then be saved to the database using EXPORT, for example. You can process this list further with the function modules 'WRITE_LIST', 'DISPLAY_LIST' ... of the function group "SLST".

  • Review Quiz Goes to the Beginnig of the Course vs. the Quiz

I have a course that contains several content slides and 10 question slides.  When the user completes the quiz and clicks the Review Quiz button, Captivate takes them back to the very first slide in the course vs. to the first question slide. How can I get Captivate to go to the first question slide?  I am using Captivate 7.

Thank you!  That was exactly what was wrong.  I had a button on the first slide and Report Answers was selected in Properties.  I copied this button to other slides so the Review Quiz functionality started at the begining and stopped on all slides where Report Answers appeared.  I used the Advanced Interaction window to identify all the Yes responses for Report Answers and made sure I deselected the check box on all content slides.  Once saved, the course worked perfectly!  The Review Quiz went to the first question slide.  Thanks again.

  • Reviewing the quiz

    Hi all,
I'm in need of some help again.
I have created a quiz with an 80% pass mark for my learners.
This is no problem and it all works fine.
Some feedback I have received through testing is that the learners would like to know the correct answer to the questions they got wrong, ordinarily not a problem, however.....
If my learners get <80% they do the quiz again (by hiding the Continue button beneath the Retake Quiz button)
If they get >80% then they have passed the quiz and the continue button appears so they can go to the next chapter.
This is where the issue appears as the learners have stated they would like to know the answers to the questions they got wrong.
I've tried changing the quiz properties so that they have 3 chances to complete the quiz before reviewing it, but I cannot stop the review button from appearing on the first failed attempt, giving them the answers rather than forcing them to have another go as both the "Review Quiz" and the "Retake Quiz" button appear.
Is there a way of stopping the Review Quiz button from appearing until I want it to?
I look forward to your answers as my deadline is fast approaching!

I suggest you hide the Review Quiz button underneath the Retake Quiz button, not under the Continue button.
Once the user hits the Review Quiz button, they won't have the option afterwards to do a Retake Quiz until they relaunch the lesson again.
So by giving the user 3 attempts at the quiz, each time they fail, they'll only see the Retake Quiz button if it's sitting on top of the Review Quiz button. After their third failed attempt, or after their first Successful attempt (whichever comes first) they'll see the Review Quiz button.
I agree that learners should not be given the opportunity to just review the quiz, find out the answers, and then retake the quiz straight away again.  But essentially, even with the precautions mentioned above, that's pretty much what they are doing if they Review the quiz and then relaunch the lesson.
For more sophisticated options to control user attempts, you may need to use an LMS.

  • I can't finish the quiz for Week 3

Hello, I am trying to do the quiz for Week 3 but when I press the finish button to register the quiz, nothing happens.
This problem appears in another post in this forums, I answered in it for not duplicating messages but my answer was rejected by the moderator.
When I complete the quiz for week 3 and I press the finish button, nothing happens but in the overview of the lesson 3 the quiz has a green tick. Is the quiz completed and saved?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Why does captivate 5 scorm 2004 change the pass/fail status when using complete/incomplete

SUMMARY:  I am trying to use SCORM 2004 reporting but I am finding out ADOBE does not diffentiate between COMPLETE/INCOMPLETED and PASSED/FAILED variables in the SCORM 2004.
RESULT: I can not accurately get the passing/failing status from the course.
QUESTION: Is their anything I can do or does ADOBE have a patch they have release which will accurately report the passed/failed STATUS as well as the completed/incompleted status.
OTHER RESEARCH: I even attempted to post these "proofs" on scorm.com and they have something called "SATISFACTION TRACKED" to accomodate content creation systems (CAPTIVATE 5) which does not follow the standards of SCORM 2004.
BACKGROUND:  the report status "Incomplete/Complete" and "Pass/Fail" under the publishing options for SCORM 2004 essentially mean the same thing when the CAPTIVATE COURSE sends setvar commands to the SCORM API...  In other words the SCORM API receives the same exact commands when publishing in both modes.  "THIS IS WRONG"
why is the wrong?  IF REPORTING; incomplete/complete ;  the CAPTIVATE 5 COURSE SHOULD NOT "change" the STATUS OF PASS/FAIL when attempting to report COMPLETE/INCOMLETE with 100% slide views.
    DEMO #3> SHOWS THE PROBLEM
About DEMO #1 and DEMO #2> these are other reporting options I attempted with other problems arrising..so these images are just for supporting my original problem which is shown in DEMO #3...
DEMO 1 (REPORT STATUS has no affect on reporting):SETTINGS:
    PASS: (PROBLEM)
Anything above Passing Score is not recorded to LMS (once passing is reached...no more bookmarks are recorded)
    FAIL: (CORRECT)
Failure gets sent to the database on the last screen with "completed"
DEMO 2 (Report status  [Complete/Incomplete  Pass/Fail]   has no impact on commands sent to scorm api):
    SETTINGS:
    PASS: (CORRECT)
Very Last page gets sent to the Database
    FAIL: (PROBLEM)
NOTHING GETS SENT TO DATABASE (stuck in final score screen forever)...because it says "INCOMPLETE"
    DEMO 3:
Report status [Complete/Incomplete Pass/Fail] has no impact on commands sent to scorm api
    SETTINGS:
    PASS: (CORRECT)
Very Last page gets sent to the Database with a 90% passing with "completed"
    FAIL: (PROBLEM)
LAST SLIDE SENDS "completed" but GETS SENT AS A PASSING SCORE??? even when it is a failure
(IN OTHER WORDS ADOBE CHANGES THE PASS/FAIL STATUS based on slide views...
this is WRONG ....REALLY WRONG becuase I am trying to report
    "COMPLETE/INCOMPLETE" for 100% slide views
    PASS/FAIL OPTIONS:
    OPTION I CAN PURSUE?
SO WHAT CAN I DO?  YES, I CAN TELL THE LMS...to COMPARE THE SCORE RECEIVED DURING A "COMPLETE" status...and then change the grade in the LMS based on the SCORE IN THE LMS...BUT THAT WOULD MEAN THE LMS COULD REPORT ONE GRADE and the COURSE COULD REPORT A DIFFERENT GRADE....and that would not be good.
ALL OF OUR COURSES SHOW THE STUDENT THE FINAL SCORE WITHIN EACH COURSE..
    QUESTION TO ADOBE?
SO ADOBE when are you going to differentiate these two reporting options so that the PASS/FAIL OPTIONS ARE ACCURATELY REPORTED WHEN USING COMPLETE/INCOMPLETE?
    MORE INFORMATION
HERE IS THE SCORM.COM "Satisfaction" adjustment (very last line) to accomodate inconsistent reporting in CAPTIVATE 5.

    CAPTIvATE 5 cmi.completion_status
and cmi.success_status does not work independently with scorm 2004.  they both share the same definition.  These two field were designed to help differentiate the difference between a passing or failing score and when the course is actually completed.   WITH CAPTIVATE 5 they do not differentiate the two.  COMPLETE means PASS and INCOMPLETE means fail..
I was trying to use "completion_status" as a way to determine when all slides were shown.  So that I can send the final score (PASS/FAIL) the LMS after all slides were viewed and this was the absoluted score the student recieved.

CAPTIVATE SCORM SUCCESS_STATUS COMPLETE STATUS SHOULD BE INDEPENDENT

    Hi,
Here's something I found in a similar situation... hope this helps!
After publishing your CP5 project as a SCORM 2004 zip file, unzip the file so you can get into the separate files.  Open the imsmanifest.xml file with a text editor; I like using Notepad++.  Search for the line starting with <imsss:minNormalizedMeasure>.  The complete line will probably look like <imss:minNormalizedMeasure></imss:minNormalizedMeasure>, this is the line that is supposed to contain your passing score (at least for our LMS).  So, if your passing score is supposed to be 80%, edit this line to be:  <imsss:minNormalizedMeasure>0.80</imsss:minNormalizedMeasure> and save the file.  Then select all the files and re-zip them, I use 7-zip for that.
I found one other weird thing that doesn't happen 100% of the time, so test it.  In the example above, try to get a score of exactly 80% (or whatever passing grade you are using) and see if you get the correct status reported.  I found I sometimes have to re-edit that line in the manifest file to be 0.79 so it correctly includes an exact 80% score.  No idea why and you have to watch the number of questions in your quiz to make sure that works for you mathematically.
If this works or not, I'd recommend posting your results so others can get some ideas.  Good Luck!!

  • How to get the Success Factors LMS to record the quiz score for an Adobe Captivate 7 module.

I have a few questions and one outstanding issue.
    My Issue:
I can’t get the score to be recorded by the Success Factors LMS.
    Question 1)
I notice that the quiz reporting section in Captivate 7’s Preferences menu has a “Data To Report” section.
However, for SCORM 2004 and Tin Can, there is no option to report Quiz Score like there is for SCORM 1.2 and AICC.
Is reporting the score impossible for those reporting standards?
    Question 2)
My organization is using the Success Factors LMS and I’m trying to get the score to be recorded by the LMS.
I’ve set the Published Captivate module to report the Quiz Score as a percentage (Points is unavailable to me since there are more than 100 pts),
but the LMS is recording whether the module was Complete (passed) or incomplete (not passed or yet to be completed).
Is (are) there some parameter(s) on Captivate’s side that I need to be setting for Success Factors to correctly record the score?
    - Maybe Captivate (in SCORM 1.2) should be reporting the Score as points and not percentage?
    - Maybe I should be using AICC?
Is (are) there some parameter(s) on Success Factor’s side to interface correctly with Captivate?
I’ve checked the Adobe forums, but I don’t see any help there and
I’ve googled the issue to the point of exhaustion and frustration.
So, I would very much appreciate the help.
    Thank you for your time.
Provided below is a screenshot of my Quiz Reporting settings:

Last year I worked with a customer who has the SuccessFactors LMS and, after some issues and discussions, the SF folks suggested their LMS supports AICC better than SCORM.
    That stunned me a bit...
SO, sure, barring anything else, it may not hurt to try AICC!
And I think SF is also limited in their SCORM 2004 support. If going with SCORM, definitely try to get SCORM 1.2 working first.
Your settings look good to me. Maybe can't hurt to try 'points' but I'm not so sure that would work.
So you're ONLY seeing 'Completed/Incomplete' not 'passed/failed' as you'd prefer?
You're not seeing a recorded percentage at all?

  • Captivate 5: is there a way to prevent someone from taking the quiz, without going through the conte

    Hi.
Is there a way in Captivate 5 to prevent someone from clicking on the quiz to take it, without having gone through the content?
    CB.

    Hi.
Regarding preventing someone from taking the quiz without going through the content...
I decided to separate the quiz out of the project as a separate item.
We are going to use a Learning Management System which will house the module to control the access.
The LMS can be set to not allow people to click on the Quiz link, until they have gone through the content.  (So they cannot by-pass the content and just do the quiz).
I was trying to find a way to control this from within Captivate 5 and keep people from being able to click on the quiz without going through the content. (And keep the quiz inside the original project).
However, this LMS solution will work for this module.
    Thanks everyone!

  • I accidentally deleted a button I need on the quiz results page in captivate 8. How do I get it back?

I accidentally deleted a button I need on the quiz results page in captivate 8. How do I get it back?

Go back into Quiz, Preferences, Pass or Fail. Uncheck 'Retake button' and check it again, it will reappear on the Score slide.

  • Why are my player buttons disabled on my Captivate 8 skin when I add a quiz. If I remove the quiz, my buttons return on the skin.

It would really save me time to use the quiz feature of Captivate 8, but so far I'm not able to because every time I add a quiz, the player buttons are completely gone from my skin. I cannot add them again because they are disabled!!
In preferences I turned off the option to hide player buttons.
Does anyone know why this happens?? Can I use a quiz and still have my back/forward buttons visible??

By preferences I am assuming you mean skin editor under the project tab?
    - Yes
Do you have Show Playback Control checked (otherwise the box you refer to is lowlighted anyway), and I am assuming that you have Hide Playbar in Quiz checked?
    - No, I do not have Hide Playbar in Quiz checked, but whether it is checked or not doesn't matter
Is you quiz in the middle of the project or at the end?
    - My quizzes are throughout after each course section as a self assessment
I am speculating that perhaps you have turn playbar off in quiz which turns it off in captivate, I would assume it would automatically turn back on when quiz is over but maybe not, just betting a hunch as I need more info to do more.
    - It's not just in the quiz area that they playbar is disabled. Once I add ANY quiz, the playbar is not shown at all throughout the entire course and I cannot turn any playbar items that I need on (previous/next).
So if playing with those settings dont help then try this on slide 1, go to properties for the slide then actions----> On Enter: Show Playbar. (It will be set to No Action by default)
    - I will try this thanks

  • Captivate 5 Quiz pass and fail issues

    Hi all,
Still new and working with Captivate 5 (Win7 OS). I have a project with five quiz questions at the end. The goal is for the learner to have to pass the quiz to continue and the passing score required is 80%. I am allowing three tries at the quiz before failure. The problem I am running into is when the learner has failed on the final attempt, the quiz results screen is shown and will not advance to the next slide. Here are the settings I have so far:
    Preferences>Project>Start and End>Project End options-Action-Close project
    Preferences>Quiz >Reporting>Quiz: Enable reporting for this project-checked
    Preferences>Quiz >Settings>Quiz> Required-Pass required
    Allow backward movement-unchecked
Show score at the end of the quiz-checked
    Preferences>Quiz >Pass or Fail> Pass/Fail options-80%
If passing grade-Go to the next slide
If failing grade- Allow 3 attempts. Show Retake button. Action-Go to the next slide
All quiz questions are set to one attempts
I have a “Retake” button directly on top of  the  “Continue” button on the quiz results page. The retake button appears correctly on each of the attempts and the “Continue” button appears if the learner gets a passing score. If the learner fails at the end of the third attempt, the continue button appears and at this point and is not active (due to failing score). I can only get the project to advance to the final slide if the learner passes the quiz.
The learner needs to be able to resume the project if they stop and exit. I also want the project to close the browser window after the last slide has played. I do have a playback controls (clients requirement).
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Change your Quiz > Required > Pass Required to Optional instead.
You've told the quiz that it should force the user to pass before allowing them past the Quiz Results slide.  That's probably why the Continue button or playbar won't allow them to move further.  By making pass optional it should work.
Getting the course window to close automatically at the end is by no means guaranteed to happen.  That depends on many factors that may be outside your control (e.g. browser settings, LMS player, security, etc)

  • I added Edit Preferences Quiz Pass or Fail If Passing Grade Go to the next slide

Unfortunately, it doesn't work. The playback frame stays on the quiz reporting page. Please, can anybody tell me what I could be doing wrong?

    Rod -
At the end of the quiz I have my "PASS" and "FAIL" screens set up, one after another. In the Captivate Preferences, under "Quiz Pass and Fail" - I have that if they Pass, they jump to the "PASS" slide, and if they Fail they of course go to the "FAIL" slide.
When I play the course and pass, the pass screen that I built shows up after it shows my results, but then immediately goes to the fail screen that I built. How can I stop that from happening? Do I need to hide the playbar when the user gets to that page? I'd rather not as I want the user to be able to restart the course if they want to without having to close then reopen.
    Many thanks -
    Kevin

  • Captivate 5.5 - Getting an accurate quiz result when user skips a question and returns to complete it?

    I have a Captivate 5.5 project with the following settings;
Questions are optional and interspersed in the content
    Backward movement is allowed
Quiz results show a percentage correct and are for the learners information only
    Issue:
When the user skips a question, views their results at the end of the project and then goes back to complete the skipped question, the quiz results do not add the skipped question to the previous total. Captivate appears to think that only the skipped question was completed. Any idea on how to fix this would be great. Thanks

I have been answering a similar question several times yesterday, here are two examples:
    Continue button - result page.
Help with conditional action in C8
Varun's proposal is the same as I suggested, but first I'd want to know if you also allow Review? The stack order of the embedded buttons on the Score slide is:
    bottom 'Continue'
    above this one 'Review'
    above 'Review' there is Retake
Often users hare confused by Review and Retake, and as you probably know, once the Review button has been clicked, the Retake option is over, user cannot take another attempt. This means that in most courses I will drag the Review button under the Retake button. Only when Quiz attempts are exhausted, the Review button will become available. But you cannot put the Continue button in the same location because it will never become visible. Have a workaround for that, you'll find it in the other threads. I'm missing one that I cannot find.

  • After a quiz can you show the questions and answers for the user to review from passing the quiz

After taking a quiz, is there a way to show the questions and answers for the user to review from passing the quiz.
And the ones who has failed the quiz would be directed to the first slide again to take the quiz over.
    Thanks

    Rod
I see that information about adding the review quiz button but on that last slide where it shows results, I want it jump back to slide 1 but it jumps to the first question of the slide. Is there a way around that?
