Captivate 5 reviewer in Windows 7

Hi!
I'm trying to open a .crev file, using Adobe Captivate Reviewer 2.0 in Windows 7, with no success :-(
I click on the application icon, apparently it opens, but the big window doesn't open, it always stays minimized.
Have you got an idea of how to fix this?
Thanks in advance, Mariana
PS running the application as administrator doesn't solve any problem.

Hello,
And you use Captivate in which language? If CP doesn't exist in Portuguese (I'm not sure), you'll have the same issue I had with Dutch OS: Reviewer in CP5 doesn't work. In Captivate 5.5 this has been fixed, and they promised to offer this fixed version for 5.0 users, but so far I didn't hear anything about it. I will try to get information and post the answer later on.

Hi Chirs , sorry for the trouble you are facing. We would like you to be up and running in the language of your choice and not choose the workaround. I have a solution , see if this works for you
Inside the installer folder [either from dvd or a local folder or a extracted location], you can find a folder called "payloads".
          1) Inside that, you can find some folders with their names starting with "Microsoft_".
          2) Amongst such folders, you should find 3 folders which also end with "_x86_x64".
          3) Go into each of these 3 folders and try running the "msi" files manually by double clicking them. In the options screens, select "modify" and keep clicking next till you finish.
Before the workaround .. you have uninstall Captivate 5 and after the workaround re-install captivate in German and this should solve.
if not , I can set up a meeting with you and try and help resolving this issue.
We deeply appreciate your interest shown towards Captivate 5
    Thanks

  • Issue with using Adobe Captivate Review 2.0 software

I have a file that is about 102Meg  published that I am sending out for review.  I am posting it to location that everyone has access to on our network.  The issue I am having is kind of odd.  If you install the Captivate Review software on a new machine you can review the .crev file add comments and save just fine.  If you close the programm you can not get the software to open the file again.  If you go to a different machine and install the software you can review the file again.  We are running 32bit Windows XP with duo cpu @ 2.66Ghz and 4 Gigs of Ram on our engineering computers. If we publish a small file size it does not seem to be an issus.  Has anyone else run into this issue?

No, but I would really appreciate it if you could report this to the Adobe Captivate team using the web address I have included below.

  • Captivate Reviewer

    HI
I originally set up a trial adobe ID to see if the review process using captivate reviewer would fit our puroposes. I trialled it and it worked well and I was able to retrieve the comments from the dummy one I sent around. I logged in using the trial adobe ID I had previously created.
I then set up a new adobe ID so that this ID could be used to send out to reviewers. I used the collaborate/send for shared review function and entered the new adobe ID details as part of the process but when I opened captivate it didnt give me the option to login using the new adobe ID so the comments are not coming up in the comments window for the project I sent around. I am using captivate 6 - not sure if this makes a difference?
    Hope this makes sense....
    Cheers
    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,
Thanks and welcome to Adobe Community.
Yes you are right, in order to send out the file for the review for the reviewers to add comments, you can choose the option send for shared review. Once you have added the comments to the CREV file, you can save them through the save option in reviewer and then send the CREV file through an email as well.
PS: Please make sure you run Captivate Reviewer as administrator, else you won't be able to see the login option.
    Thanks!

  • Adobe Captivate Reviewer - won't load .crev file in Vista

Using Reviewer for the first time (Captivate 4 on Vista box).
    Downloaded Reviewer from email link
Clicked on .crev file from email link
In the Reviewer, got message "Unable to load SWF file. Try opening Adobe Captivate Reviewer in the Administrator mode"  (see pic)
    Clicked OK
Clicked the .crev file in email link again per message "Load Adobe Captivate Movie (.crev, .swf., or .zip)"
Got same "unable to load.... " message again (see pic). Viscious circle here
Downloaded Reviewer to my XP machine - all works like it should.
What do I need to do to my Vista box (primary machine) for the Reviewer to work?
    SMILES
    Susann

This issue arises because, for some reason, the adobe developer(s) have hard coded a temporary file location of "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate Reviewer <X>*\workspace" to store the .crev, .swf or .zip file when you open it from its original location.  In most corporate environments "\Program Files\ or \Program Files (x86)\" is, correctly, restricted to non-administrative users to ensure the integrity of managed applications and the industry standards for temporary storage have been long established as \temp\, \windows\temp\ or <user profile>\appdata\temp\
The corporate workaround to your issue is relatively simple.  Your user account needs to be granted the privilege to be able to create and own the workspace folder in the above location.  If this is not feasible then you could always just copy the entire contents of "C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\Adobe\Adobe Captivate Reviewer <X>*" to a location on your machine where you have full access, i.e. your desktop.
Ultimately Adobe development need to update the code in Adobe Air.dll to create the workspace in a temporary folder that conforms to industry standards

  • Adobe Captivate 8 Send For Shared Review link to Adobe Captivate Reviewer provides no download for Captivate 8

In Adobe Captivate 8 if you use the feature "Send for Shared Review" and select the option "Send Email" and "Attach Adobe Captivate Reviewer" the end result is a link generated in the email to download Adobe Captivate Reviewer (doesn't attach it as indicated).
As noted in the email Adobe Captivate 8 Reviewer is REQUIRED to review the file. No big deal there is a link to it in the email : the download link - http://www.adobe.com/go/cp8.0_reviewerapp
Unfortunately that link redirects to another page http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/captivate-6-review-app and on that page there is no Adobe Captivate 8 Reviewer link to download. *screenshot of the page below*
Anyone know the correct link location to download Adobe Captivate 8 Reviewer?
I am still searching but so far have been unable to find it.
Thank you in advance to anyone that can help.

When sharing the link for people to review use the same link http://www.adobe.com/go/cp8.0_reviewerapp but just give instructions to use the one specified for 7.0 (mac or windows).
Sorry to ask again but want to make sure before I send this out to people.
    Thank you.

  • Captivate Reviewer 8 download

    Guten Tag,

When sharing the link for people to review use the same link http://www.adobe.com/go/cp8.0_reviewerapp but just give instructions to use the one specified for 7.0 (mac or windows).
Sorry to ask again but want to make sure before I send this out to people.
    Thank you.

  • Multiple reviewers cannot open CREV files in Adobe Captivate Reviewer 1.0 after the first review

We are using Captivate 4.0 with Captivate Reviewer 1.0 for review and comments. The problem we are having just started within the last month...
We place the CREV file and folder on the network so that multiple reviewers can access. All have Adobe Captivate Reviewer 1.0 installed.
When the first person opens the CREV file, they are told that the folder is already in use, and that they must create another.
Once a new folder is created a user may open the CREV file and make comments and save them. However, subsequent reviewers cannot open the CREV file to add their comments. Subsequent reviewes must create anothe folder and then they can open and review the file and add comments.
However, because the CREV file is now saving comments in a different folder, reviewers cannot see each others comments. The last module we did where everthing worked correctly and multiple reviewers could open and comment the same file without any issues was about one month ago on 07/29. We have no idea if something has changed since then that would render Captivate Reviewer 1.0 inoperable, but we'd like to see if anyone else has seen and/or resolved this issue...
    Thanks,
    James

No, I've had WIndows 7 since it was released through MSDN.  Adobe Captivate 4, released in January 2009, was the most recent version of Captivate available when Windows 7 was released to MSDN and Technet subscribers in August 2009.  Captivate 5 was not released until May 2010, almost 9 months after Windows 7 was released to the public.
Captivate 4 has a message at startup mentioning that one should run it as administrator, which is a Windows 7 feature involving User Account Control.  We bought it sometime after Windows 7 was released but before Captivate 5 was released, otherwise we would have bought Captivate 5.
Captivate 4 has worked for us on Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.  For it to work on Windows Vista and up, we had to make sure a particular update was applied.
The problem is that it works when it feels like it, and the rest of the time it just freezes at startup.  Deleting the app data folder seemed to help, so perhaps it had issues with state corruption.  These issues have plagued this application from day 1 on every OS we've used it on.

  • Install Captivate 4 on Windows 7 64-bit machine with Windows XP mode?

    Hi,
I have been searching the web to find out the best way/place in which to load Captivate 4 on my Windows 7 64-bit machine. Seems some people have issues with recording, others don't. I have Windows XP mode on my machine.
My question is... what's the best way to load Captivate 4 on Windows 7 - should I install to Windows 7 and see how it goes. Or should I install under Windows XP mode?
    Thank you!
    Michele

Yea it works in XP mode

Try running Cp4 in WinXp compatibility mode on Win7.  Also make sure
you're set to Run as Administrator.
I run Cp4 on Win7 without issues.  But other users report similar problems
to yourself.  In the end, it may or may not work for you because Adobe has
never claimed Cp4 was compatible with Vista or Win7 64bit.

  • Problem With Captivate 4 and Windows 8

    Hi,
    I've a problem with Captivate 4 on Windows 8 projects :
    The mouse is not tracked.
I've applied the last patch for this version (11/15/2011).
Is there another patch for this ?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi there
I know this will come off as sounding snarky, but please know it's honestly not intended that way,
    Windows 8?
I never was able to make Captivate 4 run successfully on Windows 7. So I'm not the least bit surprised to hear it has issues with Windows 8!
Personally, I'm thinking you are due for an upgrade to Captivate if you want it to work on Windows 8. But then again, I'm not even certain if Captivate 6 is Windows 8 compatible.

  • Problems with captivate 8 and windows 8

I´m using captivate 8 and windows 8, and I am having problems with the visualization and publication of my projects. For visualization, there is a message of an error with syntax of the files ou directory, and nothing happens. For publication, I can´t see the project published in the browser. It opens only a text file, with the codes. Is there anyone thar can help me with that?

Acrobat 8 is not certified for Win7, particularly the x64 version. If you got the installation to go, the first step is to update AA8 to at least AA8.2. The x64 with XP required at least AA8.2 and I suspect that has not changed. I would suggest updating to the latest, either from the help menu (until no more updates are available) or by downloading the updates from the adobe.com>downloads page. For the latter, download ALL updates after your current version and install them in ORDER. They are not cummulative in most cases. You only need to reboot after the final update. The updates may get you going. If not, you may simply have to upgrade to AA9 or search for what others have been able to do in your situation.

  • Can Captivate Reviewer 2.0 be used with Captivate 4?

I've attempted to use Captivate Reviewer 2.0 with some CP4 projects and I get "wrong format" or "corrupt file messages".
Reviewer 1.0 works fine. Could my Reviewer 2.0 possibly be corrupt or is it only supposed to work with CP5?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Dave
Adobe are well known for creating things that are only forward compatible. So I'd be shocked to find that Reviewer 2 works just dandy with Captivate 4.

  • Captivate Reviewer problem

I have been using Adobe Captivate Reviewer to share my
projects with other members our team. I publish the CREV files to a
shared drive via its UNC path (\\server\name\of\directory). The
comments location is published to the same directory (ACR creates a
directory with a time and date stamp tacked onto the file name,
    like this): name_of_project_dd.mm.yy.hh.mm.ss).
That has been working just fine. But now, one of the CREVs,
when launched, says "Shared location in use" and prompts the user
for a local directory. Navigating to the directory on the share
doesn't work; it produces the same error.
Of the six projects I sent out for review, only this one
prompts for a different comment directory. I've tried creating a
new directory on the share just for this project, but that fails
too (with the same error). Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    James

    Hi James,
I am having the same problem. Were you able to resolve your issue or find a workaround?
    Thanks,
    Liz

  • Captivate 3 and Windows 7 Compatability

I have Captivate 3 and am consideing buying a new PC and want to know if I'll have compatability issues between 3 and Windows 7.   If Captivate 3 and Windows 7 can't play nicely together, will Captivate 4 work?  Thanks

    Hi there
I wouldn't expect Captivate 3 to work with Windows 7 with no issues. However, even if you were to upgrade to Captivate 4 you would still stand the chance of seeing issues. Particularly if Windows 7 is the 64 bit version. If the computer RAM is advertised as more than 3 gig (4 gig RAM systems are very common) you can pretty much count on the fact that Windows 7 will be 64 bit.
Captivate may work or it may have issues. It works just dandy for some folks using Windows 7 64 bit. For others, it's nothing but trouble. The bottom line is that Your Mileage May Vary.
