Captivate 6 not finding characters
I'm on a Windows 7 machine, running Captivate 6.1. My characters show up in the correct location, but Captivate can't find all of the images. I have checked other answers posted regarding characters but don't see this particular issue.
Hi there,
Please check Documents > Adobe > Elearning assets> Chracters, and check whether that character is available there or not.
If not then please download, save and re install elearning assets.
Thanks.

I have a Flash Sample to rotate images and text but I not find a way to display special characters
Hello everyone.
I bought a very nice Flash application that rotate images, and text of any color and size. It use an XML input file.
I've posted here, a complete copy, so any of you can download, view and use it freely.
I would appreciate if any of you know how to do, so that the text displayed, including the characters I use in my language (Spanish), such as á, é, í, ó, ú, ñ, and other special characters.
In fact, I could not find a way to do it, because I'm not expert Flash, and less in ActionScript.
If any of you would help me on that, I thank you implement the appropriate adjustments and compressed into a. zip file, and let me know where to download it, or if you prefer you can send it to my email: [email protected]
After all compressed in .zip format is a very small file: 430K.
Click here to download the complete sample.
Thanks.

=====================================Hello Rinus,
If I understood your last post correctly, then problem 2 is resolved, right?
Regarding problem 3:
I'm not asking you to share exact VIs.
I just want to see a very simple VI that explains the concept of what you're trying to do, what should happen (this can be in words that refer to the front panel elements) and what you've tried.
The terminology you're using isn't clear to me without an extra explanation.
This could even be only a Front Panel with a few buttons on where you just describe what should happen with specific controls/indicators.
Based on the first post it is not clear to me what you mean with:
- A "button element":
Are you talking about a control, an indicator, a cluster that contains multiple control?
- The structure:
Is this an event structure, case structure, for loop, ...?
Is it seems like you want to programmatically control Front Panel objects, which on itself is no problem at all independent of how many objects you want to control.
Please share with me simple example of what goes wrong and explain which things should happen on that specific Front Panel.
This will allow me to help you and also allow me to guide you along the right path.
Kind Regards,

Replace not latin characters from file name.
Dear friends,
I tried a lot but even after reading the documentation about all the available CF functions I could not find a way to accomplish this:
As you already know from my previous post I'm trying to finish an application which manages multiple images. I have reached a really good point and I was ready to implement the solutions you suggest on this post when the client did something marvellous. He uploaded some images named "Εικόνα 123.jpg" (Image 123.jpg in English) which actually broke the Flex application that retrieves the images because the firewall does not allow high bit characters to go through. I now need to add a function that will evaluate every character in the file name individually and it will remove or replace (I do not care) all the characters that are not latin or numbers (spaces, greek characters, special characters, etc). As I've already said no known function is able to do that (as far as I know of course) and I guess that the solution could be hiding in regular expressions which is not my strong point. So I need your help here.
Thank you in advance,
JohnThanks Ian,
I cannot figure out how to use asc() function for this. I will have to run a test in every single character and replace the invalid ones but I will never now the actual string length (how many characters each image name will have) and I will possibly end up destroying the extensions (.jpg) as well. To make it a little more complicated let me tell you that I will have to run this twice. Once for the full image path (ie d:\company\aptown\images\Εικόνα 123.jpg) in which I will have to change only the ...Εικόνα 123... part and not anything else, and once for a comma separated list of the image names (ie Εικόνα 123.jpg, Εικόνα 124.jpg, Εικόνα 125.jpg, Εικόνα 126.jpg). And don't be misleaded from the pattern. The customer may upload an image named with a complitely different way using invalid characters though, for example "Αντίγραφο της Εικόνας 123.jpg" (Copy of the image 123.jpg in English).
Seems to be impossible ,
I hope it is not.

FileSystem.GetDirectories not finding folder
I have a app written in VS2010 using the FileSystem.GetDirectories(path) to return folder names found in path
works great until I search a folder that was created by a MAC user
The folder name has a space after the characters 'Y:\STAFF\Maura '
the exception reported "Could not find a part of the path 'Y:\STAFF\Maura\'." -- notice the lack of space before the last "\"
thinking the issue might be that GetDirectories was simply truncating the name, I found a folder under folder in question (which also has folders) and added it to the path like this 'Y:\STAFF\Maura \Ready to edit'
EXception returned
"Could not find a part of the path 'Y:\STAFF\Maura\Ready to edit\'."
using debug and asc(mid(path,15,1)) told me the character was a 32 - just a space - nothing bizarre
Other directories (in the same drive map) also have spaces in the name and GetDirectories navigates them just fine
Another folder ""Y:\STAFF\WENDY2\ FOR WENDY " also experiences the same issue
Windows explorer has no problem changing to either of these folders and displaying folders underneath them
the only common information I can discover is that both these folders have a space after the name
Anyone have ideas how to resolve this issue with GetDirectories()Hi slaprade,
Based on your description, it would be not the correct forum for this issue, since this forum is to discuss the VS IDE.
To help you find the correct forum, would you mind letting us know more detailed message about this issue? Which language are you using, VB or VC#? Which kind of app are you developing, web or others? Please share me the detailed message about it, I will
help you find the correct forum. Thanks for your understanding.

Spotlight Not finding files Re indexing does not work
As the title says really, but there is more.
If I am logged in as one of two users, I can't find the file in the spotlight search, not quite...but if I log in as a new user, the file appears within a few characters being typed in the Spotlight of the new User.
The File title is Su Birth Cert.jpg
If I am logged in as that user, I have to type the filename and include the (.) full stop at the end just before the 'jpg' I don't need to type as far as jpg, Just the Full stop (.)
It is a jpg file, stored in a "Documents' sub folder with other ID info.
Images are checked in Spotlight Preferences...but it is an Image..in a Documents Sub folder.
I thought that may have been an issue...so i moved some documents over to the "pictures" home folder. Spotlight continued to find the Document in the Pictures folder.
I Duplicated the Birth Cert image..Spotlight still could not find it
I opened the Image in Preview and exported it as a PDF Spotlight can now find it iinstantly
I have re index multiple times, Re booted, Safe Booted, Recovery booted (where the Menu bar would not work, where the Menu bar wold not work) RESET PRAM
Dragged User Folders HDD to Spotlight Privacy, then deleted it so to Force Re indexing
used the command from other threads tp reset user folder permissions.
Disk Utility does not give the option to Repair Permissions on the User Folders HDD.....yes the user Folders are 'moved' via the Sys prefer /Users/ Advanced options, to a separate HDD.
Any one have any ideas?
Spotlight does just not seem to want to find some files.Spotlight won’t work

MakeOTF Error: could not find FontName in FontDict
I am trying to convert a symbol font I constructed and have been using in PostScript programs to OpenType. I have included a cut-down version (only two characters) in this message.
When I try to convert the (cut-down) font with MakeOTF I get the message:
[makeotf] Error: could not find FontName in FontDict of file GPSymbolcut.pfa.
Can you tell me what the error message indicates here, please? I feel that the FontName is included!

/setpacking where{pop cpack setpacking}ifHi John;
The FontDict is correctly constructed. The problem is that this is a Type 3 PostScript font, where the glyph outlines are described by regular Postscript drawing operators, like Adobe Illustrator graphics, rather than by Type 1 binary operators. MakeOTF only supports glyph outline data in the Type 1 or CFF formats. In order to use makeotf with yourfont, you will need to convert it to Type 1.
If you have Adobe Illustrator sources for the glyph outlines, then you can get these into FontLab, and then use FontLab to make Type 1 font. If you are good at scripting, you could also edit this text representation into the representation created by the FDK 'detype1' program, and then use the 'type1' program to compile this into a Type 1 font. To see the text format used by 'type', just run the 'detype1' program on any Type 1 font file. You can use the 'tx' program to extract a Type 1 font from any OTF or TTF font.
An example of how you can use the FDK command-line tools for this kind of operation:.
# Extract a Type 1 font file from an OTF font
tx -t1 <source OTF font file name> <new Type 1 font file name>
# Convert Type 1 font to a human-editable text representation
detype1 <Type1 font file name> <new text file name>
#do manual edits on the <new text file name>
#compile text file back into a Type 1 font
type1 <old text file name> < new Type1 font file name>
#convert Type 1 font to CFF
tx -cff <Type1 font file name> < new CFF font file name>
#Finally, stick the new CFF font data back into the original OTF font
sfntedit -a "CFF"=< CFF font file name> <source OTF font file name>
Note that the last works only if you did not change glyph order, as many OTF tables references glyphs by glyph ID.

Could not find an installed JDK, SCM Java Tools may not work until registry
Hello all,
I've downloaded the latest full version of Designer (10.1.2.3), but getting installation error: Could not find an installed JDK, SCM Java Tools may not work until registry
Any solution?3. install the Designer 10.1.2.3 patch to the Developer suite home. When I try to do this at C:\oracle\product\Ora10gDSR2, I get a message OUI-10137: An Oracle Home with name OUIHome already exits at C:\OraHome (a directory that doesn't exist) please specify another name for Oracle Home.
I don't want to just specify another name because cleaning up these faulty installations requires deleting registry keys, etc, since the deinstall does't really remove everything sufficiently to start with a clean slate.
I also got the Java JDK message because the JDK 5 is no longer being put straight onto the C drive, it is buried in C:\Sun\SDK\jdk, so some java programs have to be pointed to it. The Oracle installer doesn't provide this option.
Also, Michael, your post, "Re: Designer 10.1.2.3 on windows Xp Posted: Oct 20, 2007 7:05 AM in response to: mmehdi" is full of unreadable characters and question marks. Maybe I don't have a font you are using. There are also references to a zip file and a Word document that aren't there.
Anyway, thanks for all your time and effort,
Edward -
I have built a file naming system at work to archive footage and music files where all i need to do is type the keyword of the footage i need to find and finder shows it to me.
the system works wonderfully but there is a problem.
it does find the files but excludes some. for example, we have over 3000 archived files and there are about 100 that contain the word "fountain" in the file name. finder finds 40-50 only. I know where the others are and when i type the word "fountain" and ask it to search in that specific folder it finds nothing though i can see them in the folder.
finder is searching folders within folders for the files containing the keyword but for some reason it skips this folder.
I tried re-indexing but it did not work.
Spotlight could not find them or the folder altogether.
I checked the spelling.
Am I missing something? why is it not finding these files and this folder? How can I fix it?What is the name of the folder?
Does it contain "funny" characters such as a leading "."
Is it located in the directories normally not indexed by Spotlight?
Do you have file permissions to see those files and folders? -

I have a compaq 6200 pro i can not find the driver for SM bus controller.
I down graded the 6200 pro with the i3 chip to winXP and now I can not find the driver for the SM bus controller does this system have a sm bus controller?
Hi: Please click on the device in the device manager. Then click on the details tab. Post the top string of characters you see. Those will identify the type and model of the missing device and I can send you the link to the drivers. It is either your AMT driver, TPM driver or IMEI driver. In the meantime, install the chipset driver and reboot if you have not done so already. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=5037900&prodNameId=5037902&swEnvOID=1093&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=vc-88640-1 Paul

AIO remote does not find my printer
I changed Internet providers a few months ago. I have not been able to print from my iPhone or iPad since then. AIO remote does not find my printer at all.
Hi,
Both AirPrint and the HP AIO Remote app relies on Multicasting, a such have to be supported and enabled by your router.
Some routers support a such by default, some require settings changes and some do not support Multicasting which required for a such.
Please clarify your router brand and model to better understand any possible steps to try.

We are setting up a new Windows 2012 server. Users access this server using a 'terminal services'. We have mapped some folders from a legacy server (different domain). Using group policy preferences, we map this folder as a drive for a user.
When user wants to delete some files, he get's the error: 'Could not find this item ..' The error is displayed to the user and it looks like the file can't be deleted. But when I press the F5 (refresh) button, the file is gone. My problem is very similar
to a problem in the following post: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/042e747a-0e25-4190-b0a2-82f3e9635eb0/can-not-delete-file-error-is-could-not-find-this-item?forum=w7itprogeneral
When I create 'txt' (or 'pdf', 'zip') file, i can delete it without the error. When I create 'xlsx', 'docx', 'pptx', 'bmp', 'jpg', I get the error.
Does somebody have an idea, how can I fix the cause of this problem? (I can't tell to users to hit the F5 button everytime when they face this issue)
Thank you for your help in advance!
JurajHi,
Please check if the problematic files’ filename ended with a dot. If so, you could refer to the article below to troubleshoot the issue:
