Captivate 7 - crop video physical size within a slide

Hello Everyone,
I did not find an answer to my question in the discussion so I am creating my own.
I have a flv that I inserted into a slide.  The video as 2 objects showing at the same time, but I only want one of the items to show at one time.  I want to crop the bottom up until the 2nd object is gone from view, but I don't see anyway to do this in Captivate.  Am I wrong? and If so, what is the steps to accomplish this?
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give me.
Richard

Hi There,
Welcome To Adobe Forum.
Please let us know how you have created the project with video (using which tool or software).
Also please let us know does the text has some animation or effects inside the video?
Thanks and Regards

  • Workflow for cropping video from UHD to full HD

I have some GoPro 4K (3840x2160) UHD video that I wish to crop to full HD (1920x1080) using Premiere Pro CC 2014.2.  My aim is to incorporate the cropped video into a project that contains nothing but full HD video.  I’m aware that cropping is throwing away a lot of the original video information, but that’s’ exactly what I want.
I’m not sure how to go about doing this.  For example, prior to cropping, do I create a sequence that matches the original GoPro 4K footage and place the GoPro video in that sequence, or create a sequence that is equal to the finished video resolution (in my case 1920x1080) and place the original GoPro video in there?
I’d also like to know how best to use the warp stabilizer effect in conjunction with the cropping. Should I warp stabilize the 4K video and then crop, stabilize the cropped video (which would introduce some scaling), or maybe crop to some intermediate resolution, and warp stabilize that first (I’m thinking this may reduce processing time)?
I've never attempted cropping before, so I’d really appreciate if someone could give me an idea on the workflow for cropping and stabilizing, or any tips to get me started.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

I think I’ve managed to achieve what I’m after.  As you quite rightly say, I need a nested sequence.  What I’ve done is create the sequence at full 3840x2160 resolution.  I’ve then set the crop size to 50% (which gives me my intended output resolution of 1920x1080).  At this point, I'm actually working on only 1/4 of the original frame.  I have my little crop box floating around in a sea of black in the context of how much of the original frame I'm intending to discard.
I’ve then keyframed the crop to allow me to move it around and follow the action within the video that I want to focus on.
After that, I enable the zoom option within crop effects settings, and finally, export the video at 1920x1080.
As far as I can ascertain, I’ve ended up with a 1920x1080 resolution video cropped out of the 3840x2160, and because I started with such a high resolution video to begin with, the part I’ve actually wanted to keep is at full HD with no loss of quality.
I now need to figure out how to apply warp stabilization for best results.  I have a number of ideas on this but need to experiment to see how it turns out.

  • White lines around cropped video QT Pro

When I crop videos with a mask white lines appear on the top and bottom of the video when viewed full screen.

    Yep.
They probably do and this has been reported since the first version of QT 7.
It seems to only appear in "full screen" mode and is an issue with the mask track shifting one pixel "down" and one pixel to the "right".
The only workaround I've found is to avoid using the pixel "correct" size for any mask layer.
Since the mask track layer can't be adjusted (Movie Properties) you'll have to experiment with sizes.
I use GraphicConverter ($30) to make my masks from a still image from the source file.

  • Captivate 7 Resize video in TOC

HI does anyone know whether it's possible to display video in the TOC at anything larger than the default size set by Captivate?

Synchronised video in the TOC area is strictly limited.  About 192 x144 is your limit.  Just enough for a talking head...small talking head.

  • Cropping video without distortion

Newish to Compressor - have only used it for the simplest things so far. Now I'm trying to crop video to unconventional sizes and export as squares, nonstandard rectangles, etc. Using the Geometry pane, though, whenever I 'crop' the image is distorted as it compensates to fill the new shape. I'd like to actually CROP OUT parts of the image area, and export a smaller part of the image. Strangely, when I crop from the top or bottom, it seems to look ok, but from the sides, I get distortion. I'm trying to export as MPEG-4; can it be done here?

First you drag the clips that you want into the project from the Event.
Select a clip. Open the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burns Tool.
    Then you have two choices.
FIT will place your whole vertically oriented clip into the movie, and will fill in on either side with black bars. (Letterboxing).
CROP will make your vertically oriented video fill the landscape screen by chopping off the top and bottom of your clip.

  • Customizing video frame size

I have to produce a video for a web site and the webmaster tells me my video must be 181x121 (height x width). If I simply resize or scale my finished video (which is 480x720), everything looks distorted.
Is there a way to crop the video frame size to exactly 181x121 ? I realize I will be throwing away some content, but that's okay.
    Thanks and regards,
    Warren

There is no way to do that in FCE without a third party compressor.
You can do it with a work-around using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. You them to create a multilayer image in the size you want. Import the image, which will come in as sequence. Place your edited video inside the sequence. It will probably scale to fit the screen. Scale it up and adjust the position to fit the frame the way you want it. Export it without rendering may save a recompression cycle.

The largest capacity HDD that you can install is the HGST 1.5 TB HDD:

Any 2.5" 9.5mm thick SATA HDD will fit and operate in your MBP, regardless of capacity.

  • What happens to the closed captions when you delete a video or audio from a slide? (Captivate 7)

This might be a silly question but ...
I have a presentation with audio voiceover on every slide and videos on some. I have entered closed captioning for all of them. This is a pretty time consuming job.
What happens if I run into a problem with a video or audio clip and need to replace it? If I delete that audio or video from the slide, what happens to all the closed captioning that you added to it? I'm assuming it's deleted when you delete it from the slide.
If I export the captions before deleting the audio/video file, can I then reimport them when I replace the audio/video file with a fixed version?
    Thanks for any clarification.

    Hi there,
You can have CC with Slide audio and Multi Slide video in Captivate.
If you will delete the slide audio or Multi slide Video, then CC will get disabled on that slide, but same CC text will retain there as Slide notes.
Now, once you will re insert the audio or multi slide video you can mark that slide notes as CC again, or can have new CC.
So, even after deleting the audio and multi slide video, CC will not be deleted.
    check following section in Captivate:
    Thanks.

  • Video output size to use for a (horizontal) Lower Third.

Hi. I would like to know what the video output size to use for a (horizontal) Lower Third. I will be very grateful for your help. Thanx in advance. Sam.

Make it the same horizontal & vertical size as your video.  The upper 2/3 needs to be transparent.

To see the physical size of objects like tables, indexes, use
    USER_SEGMENTS where SEGMENT_TYPE=table/index/partition etc.
But for views/packages/java/trigger, you can only see rough estimate in USER_OBJECT_SIZE

"The ACS Database needs to be compressed as a part of maintenance operation. You can run the acsview-db-compress command from acs-config mode to reduce the physical size of the view database when there is a difference between the physical size and actual size of the view database. ACS 5.5 stops only the log collector services during compress operation and will be up and running after the compress operation is completed. You need to enable the log recovery feature to recover the log messages that are received during the database compress operation.
In ACS 5.5, database compress operation is automated. You can check the Enable ACS View Database Compress check box to compress the ACS View database automatically every day at 5 A.M. The database compress operation is run everyday automatically at 5 A.M whenever there is a need."
I already tried to manually compress the DB via "acsview-db-compress" without any effect.

    Hello,
You're running into bug CSCum51180. The alarm should be a warning, not critical, and should be raised only when the physical size exceeds the actual size by more than a gigabyte (in your case, the difference is very small, 1.5 vs. 1.48).
The fix should be present on a future patch.

  • How to crop video using ROI

    Hello,
Would some one please help me?
I have a loop which continuously aquire images from a camera and saves it to a video . I would like to crop a region of this video by passing the co-ordinates of a rectangle. After I have the cropped video, I would like to do a intensity profile of the whole video and display it using a single graph ( intesnity changes for diffferent frames in the y axis and the the number of the frame in x - axis.
    Joyce Joy

    Hi,
You can implement image cropping following the example:
    https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-11222
You would have to programmatically generate the ROI rectangle if you do not wish to have user interaction in the code.
I am not quite sure what kind of intensity profile you want, but here is a good example that performs it along a line, so you could just build an array of those and plot it.
    https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-20840
    Hope this helps!

  • Video file size in Zen Moz

I recently bought a Zen Mozaic and I've stored some avi movies in it. As avi videos can take many disc space ( up to 700 MB) I tried to shrink the video size (by lowering the resolution). Although in my computer, these files have shrunken in size, when I converted them to my Zen, they still take as many disc space as the original files.
Is there any way I can shrink avi video file size in my Zen Mozaic?

Try changing the files to wmv format , it worked for me .....

  • Video Playback Size

I am putting video into presenter slides, the playback
default size is rather small. Can the screen viewing area be
altered to fill the entire screen? If so how? Thanks in advance.
    Becky in Sydney.

Becky: As you may already be aware, The swf format in the
power point slide can be the same size as the power point about
520x470 - but you can look that up in the on-line manual.
Presenter only plays back at 800x600. The best way to get
more real estate for your video in the power Point slide is too
enable full screen mode as the default mode in the theme editor. I
    hope that helps
