Captivate 7 HTML5 background audio not playing

The issue seems to be related to a slide with background audio that plays after a Random Question slide. I can see the playhead moving but the audio is muted. It seems to be a bug with Captivate 7.
To duplicate the issue, create a new Captivate 7 project, insert 2 Blank slides, each with Background Audio. Create a question pool with 2 multiple choice questions and insert a Random Question slide between the 2 previously created Blank slides. When playing in HTML5 from the start (F11), the second background audio does play (is muted).
I'm using Chrome in Windows 7.

Sreekanth,
I think I've found a workaround for this issue. I’m finding when audio is placed on each question slide in the pool, the audio on subsequent slides play. The audio on the question slides has to be different from audio used on non-question slides (but all the question slides can use the same audio). Also, the question slide audio can be a very short and silent piece of audio, so nothing is heard on the question slide itself.

  • Background Audio not playing in Captivate 4

I imported a background audio track to my Adobe Captivate project, and I can see it in the background audio menu, however, when I preview or publish the project, it does not play.  When I am in the import menu, it plays, but only there.  I have done this many times before without issue.  Any ideas?

    Hi there
I am not sure if I understood the problem correctly. I tried to add a background audio to a test project and it worked fine for me in preview and publish.
When you say "I can see it in the background audio menu" are you meaning the following?
Audio->Background Audio... ==> Audio Background Dialog opens up and the audio track is shown properly. In library, the use count of this audio is non-zero and when you right click on the audio and select usage, "Project" is listed as one of the users.
When you say "When I am in the import menu, it plays, but only there", which import menu are you taking about?
Can't the audio be played from the library preview or from audio properties dialog or from Audio Background dialog?
Do you have this problem with any project that you are creating or is the problem happening in one particular project only? If it is only a particular project, can you share the CP project?

  • Audio not played for Motion Background

I have created a movie in my NLE as a motion background for a menu in Encore 2.0. When I preview the dvd project after rendering the audio plays fine but when I burn to dvd the audio is missing but the motion video still plays.
Why is this audio not playing on the burned dvd

In what form is the motion background when you bring it into Encore? Is it an avi? Is it compressed?
Is the audio stream a separate file?
If separate, is the audio stream a different length to the video file? Is the audio stream just a .wav file or what?

  • Captivate 4  TTS Audio not playing in published or preview ok in edit

While viewing my project in published view, audio did not play on 5 of my 70 slides. (It worked fine previously). It played Ok in edit but no sound in preview or published. I tried to replace the audio using the Convert TTS button, and the audio would not replace the previous audio. Even removing the audio and dragging the new audio to the timeline would not work.  I reinstalled Captivate 4 and TTS, and it seems to work fine on new a new projects but I can not seem to get it to fix my current project.  Can anyone advise if I can fix those slides, or have I somehow corrupted those slides? It's a big project.  Thanks in advanced

If I ever see dodgy behaviour like this on a slide, and it doesn't resolve easily with a reboot or republish, I just recreate the slides and delete the old ones.  It's often far quicker to do this than muck around trying to fix them.  If there is corruption in a slide, you don't want it anywhere in your project.

  • Captivate 6 Audio not playing in preview

I have been inserting audio recordings into my Captivate 6 project slides with no problem. I inserted them, clicked play, and they worked. This morning, however, I found none of my audio would play when I click Play at the bottom of my Timeline. It will play from the slide audio window when I double click the audio. It will play when I click the Preview button under the Insert Menu. So why will it not play from the play bar under the timeline? Any Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Darin

    Hi there
When this happens to you next time, perhaps it would be helpful to double check a place you may have clicked and not realized it. Sure, clobbering the preferences nailed it, but that's a bit like using a bazooka to kill the fly in the room.
Too late now, but my guess is that this is what happened.
If you look at the Timeline area you should see a small speaker icon as shown below:
It's easy to click this and there isn't much of an indication you have muted the slide. My guess is that you managed to click this earlier. Too bad you had to clobber preferences to get it back.

  • SWF Audio not playing in Captivate

    Hi everyone,
I have created a button panel in Flash. The panel is a
recreation of an A/V control system panel used in classrooms on
campus. I am using a Captivate presentation to teach university
professors how to use the panel, so they can use technology to aide
    teaching in classrooms.
As soon as the swf loads (in flash player) a sound begins to
play. You can then press the volume and mute buttons to increase,
decrease, or mute the sound. The button panel works properly in
flash player, however, when I import the swf into Captivate and
preview or publish the slide, the sound does not play. The buttons
depress, the lights change, but no sound is heard.
    1) What, if anything, am I doing wrong?
    2) What can I do to fix it?
I've only been working with Captivate for a few months now,
so this is my first real challenge. Any help you could offer would
be great. Let me know if you need anymore information. I have
exported the swf using flash 9,8,7, and 6 and that has not solved
    the problem.

    Okay, so here's the deal,
I used a flash 6 version of the panel and exported project
into a flash 7 version. when I play it, the sound still does not
work, but here is where it gets funny:
When I exported the project to include the html I also got a
version of the project without the captivate skin. When I open
that, the sound from the 16th slide (button panel) begins to play
on the first slide and continues to play. when I get to the 16th
slide and press the volume and mute buttons, they control the sound
    perfectly.
    So,
    1. How/why is the captivate skin killing my audio?
    2. What can I do about it?
    3. How do I get the audio to start playing when I enter the
    16th slide only?

  • Captivate 3 Text/Audio NOT playing when previewed

I am able to see text boxes and hear the audio by playing the slide in edit mode but when I go to preview - no matter how - they do not present themselves.  The timing of the slide is still the same length as if they did play (i.e. 60 seconds of text/audio in edit mode...60 seconds of silence and blankness in preview mode).
    Thank you for your wisdom
    JC

How did you preview? Have you tried to publish and do you the same issue then?

  • Background audio not adjusting after project is paused when published to Flash. Any suggestions?

    Hello,
    I'm working with:
    Captivate 6
    Mac OS X 10.8.2
Flash Player is updated to most recent version
My project contains background audio music set to adjust to slide audio. When I publish to Flash the background audio adjusts appropriately until I pause the video and then resume. Once the video resumes the background audio no longer adjusts to slide audio. So basically anytime a learner pauses the video and then resumes the background audio drowns the slide audio out. I've tried this with multiple projects and get the same result.
When I publish in HTML5 it works fine. But I cannot use HTML5 because my project contains necessary rollover objects and captions, slide transitions, text animations, and other effects that HTML5 does not support.
I've to remove and re-add the background audio, uninstall and reinstall Captivate, adjust the background and slide volume levels, uncheck loop audio, and pretty much any audio settings and publish settings I can think of.
Can someone else with the same OS and Captivate version try and see if they encounter the same problem when publishing to Flash?
Or does anyone have a solution/workaround?
    Thank You!

    Hi folks
Sorry, I don't have a fix to offer. Only an observation. I'm rather surprised to see this many folks actually USING background audio. I say that, because I have facilitated hundreds of Captivate classes over the years. And there are lots of folks with Instructional Design background that attend. And in so many of the classes, when we reach the audio section and we cover how to use Background Audio, the same comment is made.
The comment is that generally speaking, it is their opinion that from an Instructional Design standpoint, background music is a "no no" and should be avoided because it detracts from the learning objective.
Perhaps the link below will help.

  • Captive Background Audio  - Not converting in C7 Upgrade

    Problem 1:
When upgrading files to Captivate 7 I am having a problem with my background audio.
I have music that plays during the training.  (Background audio)
On slides with narration the background audio is set to play at 10% volume.  Some of these slides have narration AND videos.
IF there is a video included the background audio reverts to the full volume.
I have trouble shot the heck out of this issue and nothing I do seems to work.  Has anyone else had this problem?  My trainings were created in C5.5.  I have tried upgrading them to C6 and C7, the problem exists with both.
    Problem 2:
The reason I upgraded was because C5.5 had a reporting bug.  My LMS requires publishing in 2004 and when users would fail the course it would still say that they had completed it (even thought the completion status was set to pass/fail.)  Captivate Support told me this was a bug in 5.5 and the only solution was to upgrade.  The upgrade fixed this issue but left me a bigger one.
I need a solution for one of these issues.  I don't care which, I just need to be able to use my trainings in my new LMS.
Between the two problems I have had open issues with Adobe support for 2 months.  They tell me they are working on it, it's being escalated, but everytime I call to check in there is some excuse why they have no info for me.  I am running out of time.  I need to Launch my new LMS so I am hoping some savy users out there can HELP ME!!

    Hi,
Problem1 is not reproducible at our end.
After upgrading from Cp5.5 to Cp7, value of background audio is retained properly.
Are you seeing this issue in all the upgraded projects ?
If issue is specific to few projects only, can you please upload your Cp5.5 project file to acrobat.com and send me the download link at [email protected]
    Regards,
    Haridoss

  • Audio not playing in Preview

I have a slide that audio was recorded within Captivate.  When I play the slide the audio does play, but when I preview/publish, the audio is not there.  I have three caption boxes that fade in during the slide presentation.  Not sure if this could be affecting it.  Any ideas out there?

Check under Preferences > Project > Publish Settings to see if the box for Include Audio is checked.

  • Why does my audio not play from an imported pptx slide +

I created a slide with Images, animations and audio in PowerPoint (2010) and then imported into Captivate 7 as a single slide*.  When I publish the slide into an swf file and play, the follows issues occur:
One of the images does not display as contained in the pptx file - it does however show in the swf file in the same dimensions in alight wood grain image (like pine).  This image is in one corner of the slide.  The image below is that corner...!
The audio does not play when the swf is played. No audio content is shown in the library list
Also, the program I wish to insert the slides into requires individual slides - not whole presentations (it is not SCORM compliant).  What is the quickest way of publishing a multi-slide presentation into individual .swf slides?

reinstall the movie, something crazy may have happened during the download, reinstalling it should fix the problem

  • Getting background audio to play across entire EPUB document (specifically iBook)

I can't seem to get this working, perhaps it's not possible, but I'm trying to get a background audio track that the user can play/pause from any page they're currently viewing. I've got the audio and buttons working—with it all setup on a master page—but it restarts with every page turn.
Any ideas? I'm hoping it's just a matter of setting it up the right way, and not that it's impossible currently.

I don't think that that is possible. I think audio is page-specific. This is also true in PDF files and SWF files as well.

  • Audio not playing - i have already checked publish settings

I am using Captivate 5. My project was working fine, but I had to go in and re-record a few slides. I saved my audio file and then went to preview my project. No audio will play. My highlights, click boxes, buttons, etc still come up at the right time, but there is no audio.
The audio plays when i am not previewing it, and just click to play the audio. It also plays when i go in to edit audio. The only time it doesn't seem to work is when i am previewing the project.
There must be a setting I accidently changed somewhere when updating my recording?

I closed out of the project completely and reopened it. Now the audio is working again.... weird, but I guess problem solved.

  • Audio not playing in CC 2014

    Hi all,
I have seen a few threads with the problem I am having, but not exactly.  And still no solutions.
So often, like 3-4 times a day when I open an existing project or even start a new one the audio will not play from any of the clips I am using.  This happens both in the timeline and in the source viewer.   I can see the waveforms, I can see he meters going, just can't hear anything
    Here's what I have done:
Checked audio hardware in PP and on my system.  Audio plays fine out of the system and the audio hardware is set to the correctly.
Changing the audio hardware output does not help.  I use a Bose Speaker system, but changing to internal speakers does not help.
I am waiting the required time to allow the project to conform.
The problem arises in every clip in the project, which include a number of different sources.
I have trashed preferences in PP.  Did not help.
The only way I can get it to work is to reboot, and even then that does not always work.  Sometimes I have to reboot a few times.
    SYSTEM
    10.8.5
    MacPro 2x2.66GHz 6-Core Intel
Current version of Premier Pro CC 2014
Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I'm having an issue where some of or all of the audio tracks just drop out during playback (green bar). I have to stop/start the playback and all is fine until the next random time it does it.
