Captivate 7 Memory Game Failure

I am using Captivate 7.  Everything in my presentation is working fine except for the Memory Game interaction.  I've created the slide for the Memory Game and it works perfectly when I preview it in Captivate.  However, when I publish, that particular slide is blank (Memory Game only).  Everything else on the slide is OK.  What is happening so that the Memory Game does not show up?

Have you set up the publish folder location as a trusted location in Flash Global Security settings?

Have you tried uploading your content to a web server and testing from there?

  • Memory Game Success/Failure Caption Duration

Is there any way to extend the amount of time the success and failure captions stay on the screen for the memory game in Captivate 7?

Memory game can fail because of time out as well. Since the variable assigned to memory game does not show up in the variables list, I don't think you can delay it for failure condition.
For success condition, delete the default captions, add your own caption, name it as say, Success, assign the following advanced action for On Success.
    Show Success.
    Assign cpCmndGotoFrame with CpInfoCurrentFrame

  • Is it possible to pass the score of the memory game as a variable using javascript?

    Hi,
I would like to create a score table for the memory game. For that I need captivate to pass the last sore to a form/page. In the memory game widget there is a variable displayed: memGame_var. Is this really the memory game score, and do you think that I can achieve my goal using javascript?
    thank you!
    Heloisa

Beware: you have to create a variable, it is not automatically created. And you don't have to use the same name, but in this case for some reason it is not possible to use capitals in the variable name.
Contrary to some other games, this variable will retain the score indeed.

  • Memory Game Widget

I'm creating a memory game to help our leanrers prepare for their written driver's test.  Ideally I would like to see them match the road signs with the correct words (I've made PNG files to house the text for each card), but from what I can see we only have the option to match exact pictures.  Is there a way to set it up so that you can have a group of pictures to match againts their counterparts, which would be a different picture?
I could use the drag/drop tool to achieve something similar in concept of matching, but I like the idea of having a memory game for the added fun.

Hi Lilybiri - thanks for the welcome!
Actually, I was trying to use the new widget in the Captivate 7.  It is something like this one, but I want to match 2 different pictures technically.  For example:  Picture 1: street sign of railway crossing ahead ---- MATCH TO ---- Picture 2: (image of) text says "Railway Crossing Ahead".  That way they have to match a picture to the correct text.  Does that make more sense?  I'm hoping that I can still use the widget, but with more customizable options.

  • Memory Test Failure:

I was digging in my computer drawers for a plastic thing to hold one of my SD cards, and then I found a RAM chip that is 512MB. I need lots of these for the imacs, but I tried to install it, and it didn't work......
It is a Dell Memory. Make your next upgrade Dell Certified Memory. and there is also the sticker with the M with the circle around it and the small OS9-style font and a bar code.
It came with one of my imacs!!!!! It was inside it already. I don't remember if I took it out before or after one of the imacs stopped functioning. (also...could that be the cause of the damage of my first 500mhz imac??????)
I put it in a dark blue 400mhz imac and it has 10.3.9 and 9.2.2 but I have it set to boot into 9.2.2 and it said "Memory Test Failure" or something like that. Everything booted successfully. And then I went to System Profiler. And it did not say 512MB.
My very first mac was a power mac g3 and it had issues. I thought it would be any number of things. I dismantled it. While I did not have any 512 modules (I want and need lots of them) I decided, reluctlantly, to put in some of the 256mb modules in the imac. And...
One of the modules caused the imac to never boot. I took that one out. I put another one of them in and instead of the chime, it there was a sound that was similar length, but it sounded like a common stand-alone analog television not recieving any signals. That static noise with the white "snow"?? It sounded like that. "BZZZZ"!! I took that one out. There are two 256mbs, but I want 2 512mbs,
    and...
THAT is what was wrong with the power mac G3?!?!?!?!?!?! I already took it apart, thinking there wasn't anything easily fixable on it!!!! }=S I guess I will put it together again... But that won't happen until I have some more RAM chips... I do not like 64 mb and 128 mb chips. }=S
All 4 of the 256mbs were functioning. I bought them as used, and it said that it will fit in g3s. Why are 2 of the 256mbs not functioning any more???? I once had Tiger on Power Mac g3. It is a blue and white g3. Could Tiger's Dashboard have zapped the ram chips??!!!!!!!
Anyways, for every imac, I would like 2 512 modules. Which ones will work??? Ones that are certified Dell are obviously not. XD
and will dashboard zap the memory?????? I do not have Tiger installed, but if I install it, will it damage the memory????? =S

Which iMac do you have? All iMac G3 models only have two memory slots.
    What iMac do you have?
    Query by serial number
"A serial number is a unique, identifying number or group of numbers and letters assigned to an individual piece of hardware or software. It's used for various things depending on the product / brand but what is your Mac's serial number for and more importantly... what is it hiding and what can it do for you ?"

    or

      ( hint by K Shaffer )
You could buy an external DVD drive. It needs to be firewire and bootable by Mac OS. If you have another PPC with firewire, you could try target Disk mode and installed tiger that way.
You need to figure out the level of your firmware before installing 10.2 or greater. ( The PC name for firmware is BIOS. ) Installing 10.2 with a down level firmware will most likely make your iMac unusable and difficult to fix.
Open Firmware, boot into Open Firmware.
Power on your iMac while holding down commandoption+of
The first output line contains the firmware level. Mine reads:
    Apple PowerMac4,1 4.1.9f1 BootRom built on 09/14/01 at 13.18.04
    Copyright 1994-2001 Apple Computer Inc.
On my machine, I have 4.1.9f1.
    What firmware do you need?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117
For a slot loading iMac, this article indicates that you need to be running 9.1 or later version of Mac OS Classic.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75130
"The iMac Firmware Update 4.1.9 will only run on iMac computers with lot-loading CD or DVD drives running Mac OS 9.1 or later from a local drive. If you are using Mac OS X you must boot from a local Mac OS 9.1 or later writeable partition (not a CD, or network disk) prior to following the update instructions."
You can download the Mac OS 9 updates from the Apple site.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1387?viewlocale=en_US
For tiger, you need 256meg of memory.

    Memory Fragmentation Problem or Bug
This situation means that a process has consumed a large amount of processor memory and then released most or all of it, leaving fragments of memory still allocated either by this process, or by other processes that allocated memory during the problem. If the same event occurs several times, the memory may fragment into very small blocks, to the point where all processes requiring a larger block of memory cannot get the amount of memory that they need. This may affect router operation to the extent that you cannot connect to the router and get a prompt if the memory is badly fragmented.
This problem is characterized by a low value in the "Largest" column (under 20,000 bytes) of the show memory command, but a sufficient value in the "Freed" column (1MB or more), or some other wide disparity between the two columns. This may happen when the router gets very low on memory, since there is no defragmentation routine in the IOS.
If you suspect memory fragmentation, shut down some interfaces. This may free the fragmented blocks. If this works, the memory is behaving normally, and all you have to do is add more memory. If shutting down interfaces doesn't help, it may be a bug. The best course of action is to contact your Cisco support representative with the information you have collected.

  • Simple Memory Game

    Hi
I want to make a really simple Flash memory game. There is no
need for score, level, time limit or stuff like that. Just a simple
memory game with 16 cards what you turn and look for a match. Any
one who know a good tutorial with fla source code?
I have looked at this tutorial but i can't get this thing to
    work
    http://www.bleacheatingfreaks.com/science/memory/
Any help to get me started is appreciated

I've got a Flash memory version here: www.blurredgames.com
If you like I'll send you the FLA file, but I have no
    tutorial for it... I
have a Director based tutorial in my last Director book, but
    that's Lingo.
If you'd like the .fla file let me know and I'll send it
    over. At the very
least you could simply modify the assets and use it...
    there's even a timer
    and a high-score table...

  • Memory game random function

    Hello,
I made a memory game with a tutorial. My knowledge of AS3 is not that good so I have to following question.
There is a function like Math.Random to random generate number and put them on stage. I made a memory game and the cards are on the same place every time I play the "movie".
I want them to shuffle every time I restart the game. How can I write a good random function in AS3?
    Thank you.

But now I know my AS3 isnt that good at all.

  • Memory function failure (8101) on Linux POA?

    Just migrated from 7.0.3 Hp3 on NW 6.5.7 to 7.0.3 HP3 on OES2 SP1 Linux
Using NSS originally, and still using NSS now
I'm seeing some memory function failure (8101) errors on the POA (we used to see these all the time on OTHER POA on our NetWare Cluster, but they seemed to have been resolved with the hp3 code and also not running in protected memory).
    Seeing a chunk of "errors":
    09:52:27 208 Error executing rule for: user1 (user1)
    09:52:27 208 Error: Memory error. Memory function failure [8101] User:user1 (user1)
    10:26:10 208 Error: More than 5000 records [D11B] User:user2 (user2)
    10:26:20 208 Error: More than 5000 records [D11B] User:user2 (user2)
11:49:56 760 Error: A record, key, or key reference was not found [C006] User:user3 (user3)
11:50:17 760 Error: A record, key, or key reference was not found [C006] User:user3 (user3)

Same problem here, nobody has clue how to fix it ? We are on OES2 SP1 with latest patches.

  • Memory test failure ID 94g95h-0007nq-mfpx1g-003j03 .... What does it mean?

Hi,I ran a memory test because i kept getting Blue screens with different messages such as (memory management failure- bad pool header and other kinds). Once the test began it returned with failure with this id 94g95h-0007nq-mfpx1g-003j03 why is that? and what is the solution? Thank you

The hard drive has failed or is failing fast and will need to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If not a retail laptop SATA hard drive can be used. Just be sure to get one of at least equal capacity as the original in order to use Recovery Discs. It can be larger, but not smaller capacity. For instance  you have a 640GB hdd  so you could use a 750GB hdd but not a 500GB hdd.
Your Maintenance & Service Guide shows how to replace hdd:

  • Memory Game interaction

    Hello,
I am not quite understanding how to make the memory game work.  I can only get 9 boxes to show up, when I need 18.  And I can't seem to figure out how to "match" the boxes, so they will register as a "match".  The "help" is of no help - only talks about widgets in general.  I'm just not understanding how to set this game up.
    Thanks for any help!
    -Michelle

    Hi
    Here is how it works.
To get 18 boxes, you can select 3x6 grid. You get 9 boxes on the widget screen.
In these 9 boxes, you add 9 unique images. The 9 images you add get duplicated when you close the widget. (On closing the widget, you can see 18 boxes - 9 boxes with original images + 9 duplicate copy boxes.)
Optionally, you can click Next (the Arrow button on bottom right corner) and you can customize the start screen, game screen, and score screens. You can also change the feedback text as well.
Click OK once you are done with the widget.
You can take a preview / publish and match the images you added to its duplicate copies. That is the "matching" part.

  • Memory Game interation - letters with accents

Hello, I have set up the Memory Game interaction in Cap. 7. I want the user to match English and French terms. However, any letters with accents (année = year) simply do not show up in the active game. I can indeed enter them when making up the game, but when I go to run the game, all such letters are simply ignored (omitted). Instead of année, one sees anne! What can be done? Thank you. Marvin DuBois

    Thanks again, Lilybiri. Here's to hoping . . .
By the way, perhaps I should mention that I've found what appears to be a work-around. In Memory Game, one can insert text or pictures. I've typed out all the words in Word, and then taken snips (screenshots) of the French terms with accents. Thus far it seems to work perfectly. The terms in Word are on a white background, and I've managed to get the font size about right, and thus no appreciable difference shows up between the text and graphic versions.
Perhaps I will run into problems at some point, i.e. perhaps the text and graphic versions will scale differently. But I don't know that this will be a problem. (I'm just preparing for the worst . . . )
    Thanks again. Marvin

  • Captivate 5 Memory error causes crash as well as unknown exception

Captivate 5 will randomly crash and it's difficult to determine what will cause it as it seems to be several things.
It can crash when I'm manipulating graphics, at times, and other times - because it's Monday.. .
Here's the errors from my 2 crashes for today:
"unknown software exception 0xc00000fd) occurred in the application at 0x000300003"
         and
"The instruction at 0x1f4e8d55 referenced memory at "0x00000084".  The memory could not be written".
Both say to click ok to terminate or cancel to debug.  It doesn't matter which you pick, they both just close instantly.
I am running the program with files local to my PC and the file isn't too large as I'm just beginning a project and creating master slides.
(Could it be that 'rolling out' the change from the master to the other slides is causing this also).
Other days have other issues that cause it to crash.  IT just downloaded an update - that will hopefully help.  Should I uninstall and reinstall?
Will it help if IT can make me the "Admin" on the system?
    Any thoughts?
I appreciate any help as it's difficult to be productive and frustrating to constantly recreate work.
    Thank YOU!

You MUST run Captivate 5 with full Administrator privileges. This has been stated many times on this forum.
If you are not currently doing this, that might explain all the crashing.
Have your IT department give you full admin rights to your PC, and then make sure that you right click the Captivate icon that you use to launch the program and select the option to Run as Administrator.

  • Vivado simulation - block memory module failure

    Hi,
I'm simulating a project with my own IPs. one of the IPs has a block memory generator (8.2).

Did you use the AXI4 interface for the block memory generator IP?
This kind of failure is typically seen when master and slave AXI are not initialized. e.g. when the slave TVALID and TDATA are in an 'U' or 'X' state.
You need to firstly examine the testbench (or the AXI bus drivers) and ensure they're all initialized.
    For instance,
      -- Data slave channel signals
      signal s_axis_data_tvalid              : std_logic := '0';  -- payload is valid
      signal s_axis_data_tready              : std_logic := '1';  -- slave is ready
      signal s_axis_data_tdata               : std_logic_vector(15 downto 0) := (others => '0');  -- data payload
      -- Data master channel signals
      signal m_axis_data_tvalid              : std_logic := '0';  -- payload is valid
      signal m_axis_data_tdata               : std_logic_vector(23 downto 0) := (others => '0');  -- data payload

  • Memory channel failures

Anyone else seeing memory channel issues. I have 3 out of 41 new B200 M3 nodes that have experienced a memory channel issue.  RAM in locations A0 and A1 fails but when swapped with the RAM in locations F0 and F1 the failure stays with locations A0 and A1.
TAC is aware and looking into the issue.

    Hi CSCO,
This might be a cpu issue or memory slot issue.  Try swapping the CPUs in your server and see if the problem follow the cpu or stays in the memory slot.
Let me know if this helps, and don't forget to rate any useful posts.
