Captivate 7 quiz not reporting interaction data in LMS

Hello,
I just finished uploading a quiz created in Captivate 7 and was able to generate a report showing the interaction data from my LMS.  I have added another quiz and am having trouble generating the same report.  It generates blank...any ideas why? The two quizzes both have random question pools they are using but one is using pool1(quiz 1) the other pool2 (quiz 2).  I removed pool1 from quiz 2 so that it wouldn't use any questions from pool1.  I did verify that NONE of the quiz question interaction ID's are same (if that matters).  I have checked all quiz preferences against the 2 quizzes and everything is the same.

Have you investigated which versions of Flash player your various users were on?
This sounds more to me like a Flash Player issue.
Ask all of your users to update their Flash Players and then try again.
If they still seem to be experiencing issues, upload some modules of the course temporarily to a web server location and give your users a link to try and play the modules from that location.  If they can play the same course modules from a web server but cannot get them to play from Skillsoft, I'd be blaming the LMS.
It's not uncommon for an LMS vendor to blame the authoring tool.

  • LMS not tracking quiz completion or interaction data

I have created two identical assessments (apart from the questions). When users exit the POST assessment on the Quiz Reporting slide, the LMS tracks their completion and interaction data. However, when users exit the PRE assessment on the Quic Reporting slide, the LMS does NOT track their completion nor interaction data. I've configured all Quiz Preferences identically. Is there something else I'm missing?

I'm not sure of this and defer to any contrary/additional replies that may follow...but...
Past versions of CP have required some sort of scored interaction in order for the lesson to properly report via SCORM to the LMS.
If you have a CP lesson without any scored interactions (no 'reporting'), that may be why completion is being recorded to the LMS.
SO try setting up one scored interaction as you suggest.
For CP lessons that do have quizzes, you won't need that separate scored interaction.
You'll also likely want to change you settings to just 'Slide Views Only' if you just want completion reported based on them viewing the whole project, and I suspect Slide View Completion should be 100, not 10...
Let us know how that goes...

  • Captivate Quiz Not Reporting Correctly in LMS

I am using Captivate 5.0 to publish a project to an EKP LMS. I am able to get the file to show complete in the LMS, but the quiz is not reporting correctly. Instead of a percentage it is reporting the number of points earned. Is there any way to have a percentage reported instead? I would appreciate any suggestions.  Grace

    Hi Grace,
Can you check the Highlighted part and reset your Radio button to 'Percentage'--

  • Captivate 5 quiz missing cmi.interactions

Working on a SCORM 2004 compatible LMS that works with Articulate quiz but having problem getting the user's answer with Captivate 5 quiz.  Interestingly, I am able to capture  the final score and status alright for Captivate 5.
I tried to debug the Captivate quiz by editing the main html file and alerting out all the parameters when a call is made to:
    function Captivate_DoExternalInterface(command, parameter, value, variable)
What I realized is I don't see any call for setvalue of "cmi.interactions" and hence no user's answer is sent to my LMS.
Just wondering if anyone have a solution for the problem?  Can it be how I create my Captivate quiz?
I am using IE8.0 and Captivate 5 Trial and here are my quiz's settings
Quiz Properties on each question slides
    - "Type" is Graded
    - "Report Answers" properties is checked and the "Interaction ID" is filled in.
    Publish Settings
    - "Enable reporting for this project" is checked
    - "Standard" is SCORM
    - "Manifest - SCORM Version" is 2004
    - "Template" is Default
    - "Report Status" is Pass/Fail
    - "Report to LMS as" is Score
    - "Choose Report Data" is Quiz Results and Slide Views
    - "Reporting Level" is Interactions and Score
    Thanks in advance!
    Don

Just in case anyone has the same question.  It turns out it is more of an LMS issue, my Captivate 5 quiz is alright.
My fix is to make sure the LMS replies it can handle cmi.interactions by returning something like "id,type,objectives,timestamp,correct_responses,weighting,learner_response,result,latency ,description" for getvalue: cmi.interactions._children.
    Thanks!

  • Cap 2 not passing Score Data to LMS

Has anyone run into a problem with CAP 2 failing to pass the
cmi.core.score.raw value to an LMS? All other completion info seems
to be going fine and the quiz manager and Advanced interactions
screen look good. AM I missing something?

    KB in FL,
Typically, it's because your LMS isn't following the SCORM
    standard. You
can try to send the score as "Percent" and see if that helps.
    Otherwise,
    here's what's *supposed* to happen...
Captivate queries the LMS for what "core" children it
    supports. Captivate
    makes a call similar to:
    LMSGetValue("cmi.core._children");
The LMS is supposed to respond with a comma-delimted string
    of all of the
    core values it supports
    e.g.
    "student_id,student_name,lesson_location,lesson_status,score,session_time..."
(Please note, this is only a subset of the string that
    *could* be returned)
If the LMS doesn't return any values - then Captivate will
    not send any
values to the LMS. Captivate only returns data for the values
    that the LMS
supports. Did you notice the "score" value, in the string
    above? Well -
that doesn't mean that the LMS supports *all* score values -
    because
Captivate is then supposed to query the LMS for what "SCORE"
    values it
    supports:
    LMSGetValue("cmi.core.score._children");
The LMS is supposed to return a string that contains
    something similar to:
    "raw,max,min"
If the LMS doesn't return the "raw" value - then the raw
    score isn't sent to
    the LMS.
I could validate this with a debug file I have laying
    around...
    http://www.learningconsulting.com/content/macromedia/captivate/Capviate_SCORM_Debug.zip
Run that file through your LMS and send me screen shots of
    the dialogs that
    appear at the end:
    Andrew AT LearningConsulting DOT com
If it is what I think it is - Captivate can workaround this
    non-compliant
    LMS.
    Regards,
    Andrew

  • Captivate 3 Not Reporting Scores to TEDS LMS

    Hello Everyone,
Thanks for taking a moment to read through this.
I'm trying to build a course in Cap-3, using the TEDS LMS (SCORM 1.2).
The course runs fine, but is not sending the scores to our LMS.  I'm not the *most* techincal of folks, but I want to exhaust my troubleshooting first.
    Here's what I've tried.
    First:
Screen shot of the repeated failures (quiz is a generic 2 question quiz):
It's a little hard to see, basically it shows my three quiz results with "Failed" after each.
Each time I took the quiz, I passed with 100%.  I set the pass threshold to 80.
Here are the steps I've taken so far:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/122880#122880
Attempted steps in PDF, adjusting HTML to increase SCORM API load time
Adjusted HTML to comment out one line
    Added a blank button slide
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/751946#751946
Attempted to change quiz information to the following:
    -Complete/Incomplete
    -Quiz Results Only
    -Score
-Report Score (And Report Score and Interactions)
    Same Forum:
Added a button on a new slide that executed  LMSFinish() javascript.
All tests result in a failed result.
I know there's a lot of other technical tests I can run, but basically my only options right now are to modify things in Captivate and upload new tests to TEDS FTP.
If you feel I've exhausted all my options, I understand!
    Thanks for your assistance.
    Paul Trively

I've not lookede through the previous thread, but you've done variations on the settings?
You have tried Pass/Fail instead of Complete/Incomplete? Generally, if you want a score to show, you need to use Pass/Fail. That's not always true, but a score is generally not associated with Complete/Incomplete in SCORM 1.2 (in my understanding).
Have you tried the lesson through any test suite outside the LMS itself? That'd be my next step. The ADL Test Suite is the 'offical' tool for such testing but isn't very user friendly. Otherwise I'd suggest Rustici's Test Track
    http://www.scorm.com/scorm-solved/test-track/
or the Reload Editor (which I've not used and am not 100% sure is for SCORM validation)
    http://www.reload.ac.uk
Run the lesson through some SCORM tester and see if the values passed are what you expect. If not, change the settings, publish, and test again. A lot more efficient, hopefully, than going through the LMS itself and allows you to possibly determine an LMS issue over a lesson issue.

  • Captivate 4 quiz not scoring correctly on certificate widget

Hi, this is my first post, so I hope I get it right. I am fairly new to Captivate. I have created a quiz that is being scored at the end of a tutorial which includes an interactive training exercise.  The quiz has 5 questions and the student is able to retake the quiz indefinitely until he/she passes.  The problem is when they use the Retake Quiz option.  Although the score slide indicates that they have failed, the certificate is adding the scores of both failed quizzes. So, if someone takes the quiz and gets a 40%, retakes it and gets another 40%, the score report indicates a failing grade, but the certificate is adding it up to 80% and passing them.  Any help anyone can give would be appreciated!!
    Thanks,
    Mary

This sounds like a bug in the certificate widget.
Do you have the slide set up to ONLY branch to the certificate AFTER the user has successfully passed the course, or does the user see the certificate each time they do the quiz?

  • Captivate 4 quiz score shows 100 percent but LMS shows 80 percent score

    Hi,
Here's an issue I hope someone can resolve.  We have contracted with Kaplan to house our e-learning courses into their LMS (ComplianceWire) using the AICC standard.  I have developed courses that have a ten question end-of-course quizzes.  The minimum passing score I have set is 80 percent.  I completed the course in the LMS and achieved a score of 100 percent but the LMS reports a score of 80 percent.
Here's a screenshot of my quiz preferences in Captivate 4:
    What am I missing?

    Hello,
    Some possibilities:
Besides the Quiz slides, you have other scored objects (like buttons, Click boxes, Text Entry Boxes) in the project. You can check this by having a look at the Advanced Interaction view (Project menu or F9). Is the total score there equal to the total score of the Quiz slides?
Captivate reports after each scored event, after each Quiz slide. With our LMS sometimes I do have the issue that the very last slide is not correctly reported, is left out. As a workaround I do avoid to have something scored on the last slide.
Something else to check: do you have a Score slide? Is the result correct on this slide?

  • LMS not reporting complete for slide views

    Hi,
I am trying to get my captivate projects to report competion status as complete to the LMS based on slide views. For testing I have created a very simple two slide Captivate. Both slides have 3 second durations, one caption each and nothing else, so the whole project runs for 6 seconds without any pauses, quizes or interactions of any kind. I have used SCORM cloud to view the SCORM calls being made by the package, and it is not reporting completion to the LMS.
I am using the following settings in reporting:
Any help will be really appreciated. Im about to watch http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/event/index.cfm?event=set_registered&id=1775550&loc=en_us to see if that can help. My backup plan is to put an interaction on the last slide but that's going to mess with my quiz results for the projects that do include quizzes (This is also why im reporting Quiz Results and Slide Views).
Note: with these settings, passing a quiz causes the captivate to report completion.
    Thanks for any help

  • Cannot get Quiz to report properly

Im using the IBM Websphere Portal LMS (http://www-01.ibm.com/software/websphere/portal/) and I'm trying to work out how I can get a quiz to report successfully to the LMS using SCORM 1.2.
I've tried all the following Quiz settings without luck. When testing, I firstly tried to fail once then exit, secondly, failed then retried the quiz and passed, and finally passed the quiz first time. The number of attempts would always update successfully, but would not update the score and subsequent completion/competency.
    Attempt 1
    Report Status: Pass/Fail
    Report to LMS as: Percentage
Choose report data: Quiz result only
    Reporting Level: Report Score
    Attempt 2
    Report Status: Pass/Fail
    Report to LMS as: Percentage
Choose report data: Quiz result only
    Reporting Level: Report Score
    Attempt 3
    Report Status: Pass/Fail
    Report to LMS as: Percentage
Choose report data: Quiz result only
    Reporting Level: Report Score
    Attempt 4
    Report Status: Pass/Fail
    Report to LMS as: Percentage
Choose report data: Quiz result only
    Reporting Level: Report Score
I ran each version of the 4 versions of the course through the following three tests:
I failed learning check the first time then closed the session.
I failed the learning check then passed it in the same session
I passed the learning check first time then closed the session.
The details below show the resulting reporting captured in the LMS.
Version 1 (Report Status: Pass/Fail and Report to LMS as: Percentage) Tests conducted
Test 1 - Logged as 100% complete when failed. Registered as having 1 learning attempt, no score logged. NOT AS EXPECTED
Test 2 - Logged as 100% complete when failed then passed in the same session. Registered as having 2 learning attempts, no score logged. NOT AS EXPECTED
Test 3 - Logged as 100% complete when passed. Registered as having 3 learning attempts, no score logged. NOT AS EXPECTED
Version 2 (Report Status: Pass/Fail and Report to LMS as: Score) Tests conducted
Test 1 - Logged as 100% complete when failed but did register as Not Yet Competent. Registered as having 1 learning attempt, 25% score logged (which was the achieved score). NOT AS EXPECTED
Test 2 - Logged as 100% complete when failed then passed in the same session. The status stayed as Not Yet Competent and did not update. Registered as having 2 learning attempts, 25% score stayed and was not updated. NOT AS EXPECTED
Test 3 - Logged as 100% complete when failed then passed in the same session. The status stayed as Not Yet Competent and did not update. Registered as having 3 learning attempts, 25% score stayed and was not updated. NOT AS EXPECTED

Test 2 - Logged as Incomplete when failed then passed in the same session. Registered as having 2 learning attempts, 25% score stayed and was not updated. NOT AS EXPECTED
Test 3 - Logged as Incomplete when passed. Registered as having 3 learning attempts, 25% score stayed and was not updated. NOT AS EXPECTED
Any ideas as to how I get this quiz to track as expected?
    C-Dude

I may be missing something here but the settings for each of your four attempts look the same.
    Report Status: Pass/Fail
    Report to LMS as: Percentage
Choose report data: Quiz result only
    Reporting Level: Report Score
I'm not familiar with the IBM LMS but when debugging a new LMS for SCORM I usually try my lesson first in SCORM Cloud just to make sure there's no issue with the module itself.  If it scores correctly in SCORM Cloud I'm fairly confident it should do the same in the other LMS.
One thing you might try is using SCORM 2004 instead of SCORM 1.2.  Though most of the time SCORM 1.2. is more likely to be supported, I have heard of rare occasions where the only thing that worked was using the setting for 2004.

  • Captivate 5 not Reporting Quiz scores correctly in LMS

Our organization is transitioning to Captivate 5 from Captivate 4.  We are using SumTotal as our LMS.  I took a CP4 project and converted to CP5, then uploaded it as a test.  The results were dismaying.
Captivate 5 Scorm 1.2 apprears to send scores to the LMS instead of scaled scores.  For example; If you have 20 questions the scaled score should always be 0 to 100.
In the example I converted from Captivate 4, I have 15 quiz questions.  In my first try I scored 60% on the Quiz.  Captivate reported to the LMS a percentage complete of 0 and a score of 90%.  In my second attempt I scored 80% (which is required for passing from within the Quiz setup) and Captivate reported to the LMS 100% complete and a score of 100%.
I repeat, all worked fine with the same course published as Captivate 4.
I work for a very large multinational company.  This is a killer for us if we want to go forward with Captive 5.  In fact, I have just spent a lot of money upgrading everyone in my department - money wasted if we can't use the output with our LMS.
Does anyone have any ideas, and is there a way to get to someone at Adobe if this forum is unable to provide answers?
Sorry to sound panicked, but I guess I am.

    Hi all
You're absolutely right. Adobe silence is extremely unsatisfactory and unprofessional. Below are the email correspondences. Does anyone know who are the President or the CEO and the email address? I think it’s about time to find out why from the top man himself.

  • Need LMS Advice - Must Report Captivate/Presenter Interaction Data

I am currently shopping around for an affordable corporate LMS for our company. One HUGE road block is that all LMSs so far say that they only capture a raw score from imbedded quizzes in the SCORM package. If I want detailed interaction data about the student's answers on each question/survey, I am told that I have to use the very unfriendly quiz tool provided by the LMS. I hate it!!!!
There HAS to be an LMS out there that is affordable AND provides the reporting that I need. Suggestions please????????????

Hello JJohnson - I can tell you that the LMS we currently use - Geo Maestro (which is now Learning Maestro after the Sum Total purchase of Geo) has reporting on answers to individual questions, but it is still not very robust. I haven't explored their new reporting and analytics functionality yet to see if it does a better job analyzing test results.  Having said that, we've not been happy overall with this application and are looking at others.
Moodle is one we've looked at also (we are corporate, not educational institute).
Rod - do you know anecdotally who does a good job overall as a Moodle North American Partner?

  • Custom Quiz with Master Widget not reporting in LMS (Captivate 5.5)

    Hello,
I have written a custom quiz with partial scoring and, in order to report answers, I am using the Master Widget. (Huge thanks to Lilybiri and Infosemantics for all of the guidance I have found in blogs and e-learning classes!)
In summary, the quiz is composed of 2 questions with 4 possible answers each.  Each of the 4 answers have a different score attached to it (i.e. answer a = 4 points; answer b = 3 points; answer c = 2 points; answer d = 1 point).   On each question slide I have added a Master Widget (using the variable representing the points the student received as a slave object).  I want the quiz to report the score for each question.   After the student has answered both question slides, they continue to a "Results" slide.  Here they view the total of their scores and get feedback on if their total is to high, too low, or in-line.  On the results page I have used the Master Widget to report the total score to the quiz.
I have uploaded this quiz as a SCORM package to both Moodle 2.3 and Blackboard 9 (we are trialing different LMS systems).  The quiz runs great in each LMS but when I try to access a report, I don't get any results:  no report of the points received for each quiz item and no score total.  In fact, in Blackboard I get a blank page:
    In Moodle, I get:
Here is what my quiz preferences look like:
I am really stuck.  I realize there are a lot of components to this process and I really need some help to find out where the problem lies.
Thank you for your time and help!!!

    Bray,
Yes the figures shown on the Quiz Results slide are important because they indicate some of your widgets or other interactive objects are not being reported to the 'official' quiz score.
You need to go back and check the objects that you want to be included in the score.  The 67% score reported by the quiz on the quiz results slide probably means that Captivate thinks you only have three objects reporting to the quiz and only two of those (two thirds or 67% in round figures) were successful.
You mentioned before that you have three Master widgets in this project.  How many of them are set to report to the quiz?  To test whether they're all reporting success, turn on Success and Failure captions for these widgets and then run through your interaction.
When using Slave Variables with the Master widgets for partial scoring, don't forget that although the Master widgets might count these variables as being interactive objects, Captivate does not.
Although the Master widget is VERY powerful, it also tends to mess with people's minds because there are just SO many ways you can configure it. If using partial scoring, check whether or not you have the option set to over-ride the widgets own assigned score with the total points score from the slave objects.  If you use this option, you need to make sure that at no time can the over-ridden score fall outside the 0-100% range that SCORM-compliant LMSs will accept.
