Captivate 8 - Mouse Click/Audio Narration Issue

I receorded my software simulation, then added recorded narration to each slide afterward. When I go to preview my course, each time the mouse click happens, the audio narration volume is decreased slighly before, during, and slightly after the mouse click. I wish I could say it was by a neglible amount, but on certain slides it nearly "covers" my narration completely. I can't seem to find anything in the Adobe Captivate forums about this specifically, which is surprising! So that leads me to believe there is a setting somewhere. Has anyone else encountered this?

Hi there
The fact you don't see references to this in the forums is indicative of the fact that (at least for me) this is the first such report I've seen of this specific behavior. It could be that it's a bug. Following that, I'd strongly urge you to file a bug report on it using the link below:
http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
The behavior you are describing is consistent with what I might expect of the Background Audio and Slide narration.
If you aren't using Background Audio, perhaps try clicking Audio > Import to > Background so you get the dialog. Then configure the dialog so you clear the option for reducing the volume.
Once you have done this and clicked Save, click Audio > Remove > Background and see if that fixes anything. If not...
Try clearing the preferences and publish again,
My crystal ball is on the fritz and my psychic skills are nearly non-existent, so I can't tell whether you are using the Mac or the PC version. But if it's the PC version, here is how you clear the preferences.
Close Captivate
Right-click the Shortcut icon and choose Properties
From the Shortcut tab, click the Open File Location button
Windows Explorer should open - From there, locate the Utils folder
Double-click the CleanPreferencesWin.bat file
Restart Captivate and test

  • Record Audio in Captivate 4 for PP Slide with multiple mouse click animation

I have a power point presentation imported into  Captivate 4.  Several of the slides have custom animation that ocurr's on mouse click. What is the best way to record the audio for these slides and have the audio sync to the right portion of the slide?

I am afraid there is no direct way to solve your problem. You can identify the time at which the movie stops because of an on-click animation. At every location, insert a transparent caption (blank caption) and add audio to the caption.
Thus once the movie pauses for the user to click, audio wont appear till user click on the swf. Once he does, movie timeline will move ahead and transparent caption will appear thus playing the audio file.
Hope this helps. Do let us know if it works.

  • Mouse Clicks in Captivate

I have a number of captivate animations that have mouse
clicks. However even though I have set and checked all mouse clicks
the 'click' audio does not consistently work. Is there a trick to
    setting the audio click.
    I am using Captivate V2.0.0 build 1177

Hi Mike Wald and welcome to our community
Sorry, but I'm a bit confused by your post. Which is true?
Are you saying that a mouse click is heard and you don't want
it to be? If so, take a look at the links below:
    Link One
    Link
    Two
    Or is it that you
want to hear mouse clicks and are not? In this case, other
than checking each mouse movement, I'm a bit stumped.

  • No more mouse click sounds for buttons on Captivate 5

I have been working on a project that uses buttons and click boxes.  Previously the mouse click played when the button was selected, but now there is no mouse click sound when selecting the button.  When closing the application I see a message that pops up saying "Discovering Unreachable Audio".
I also tried to create a new project with buttons and the mouse click still does not play.
I double checked in the properties for the button and the box for "Disable Click Sound" is NOT checked, so I know that this is not the problem.
I am using Windows XP SP3.
Any advice on how to correct this is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

Did you ever find a solution to this?  I am having the same trouble.  The mouse click will not play despite the fact it is selected.  Some mouse clicks will play so I don't know what the issue is.  Also if I change it to a custom mouse click it the sound will play.

  • MultiCam Monitor Bug - mouse clicking dont swap audio track

    "Audio Follows Video" ON
and "on play" it switch to MC1/2/3
but on pause switch only video track. And now i have video MC2 and audio MC3 for example. When use CTRL for new edit MC for video and audio are same. And all ok when switch with RMB. This bug only on MC Monitor mouse clicking.
my englih bad and i make video
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrLL1MTgU00

ok in laymens terms I create a multicam sequence using four video tracks and four audio tracks. Normally the start of the sequence would have all the video audio tracks in, however I have started by editing single clips in time line 1. After a min or so I then import all the multicam footage to time lines 2,3,4. So the the actual sequence starts with clips on a single timeline as oppossed to all 4 video and sound tracks filled.
I multicam edit them in a new sequence and on final go to export but it fails. and it fails giving an "unknown error" message because the start of the multicam only has clips on one timeline.
However if I go to the synced sequence (original sequence) copy all the single edits at the beginning, then go to the multicammed sequence and paste these clip straight over the same clips in the multicamed sequence it then exports ok with no errors. I have to do this with every multicam edit I do which is a pain.
now the text above say if I repeat the same process in CS5 not CS5.5 there is no unknown error message and no need to fiddle about copying and pasting so why so in CS5.5?
I know your gonna say simple just do your multicam in CS5 but my main bought plugins and effects are for CS5.5 including native Canon MXF support and AVCHD support so I need the CS5.5 really. its bugged and needs fixing.
    Better?

  • Mouse clicking issues

For the last 2 weeks or so I all of a sudden have mouse clicking issues on a 2009 iMac. The mouse (I have tried 3 different ones from apple and Logitech) seem to be able to open files etc. on a click. I have to click repeatedly to get it done. When I run the disc utility it mostly goes away. Now, I run the disc repair every morning to make it go away. Annoying. I have seen other people having similar issues - it sounds like a OS issue????

This same scenario has happened to me sporadically over the past few months and seems to be increasing. I have the Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks. Got it 3 years ago for use with my G4 PowerBook (1.5 GHz, 2 GB RAM, OS 10.4.8). First I thought it was the batteries, but then realized that if I'd just wait a few minutes the problem would usually go away. Nothing new electrical on my desk that would cause it. Gets really annoying. The mouse becomes sluggish and the clicks are non responsive (a right click will open a sub-menu window, but then no other clicks work. Trying to move the mouse around on the screen gives spotty results - stops and starts - as if I'm moving it on a reflective surface. After multiple clicks the window goes away. I can disconnect the USB transmitter and have complete control with the mousepad.
Sometimes the problem won't occur all day long. Other times it comes and goes multiple times during an hour. A restart will usually get it out of that overly annoying loop.
I bought a new Logitech Mouse a few days ago, thinking mine was wearing out, but the same thing happened within minutes.
I can only think there's some conflict with an OSX update. VERY frustrating. I don't want to go back to a wired mouse.
So I, too, am eager for a solution.
    Thanks,
    -Scott

  • Strange issue with left mouse clicking freezing other inputs on the Mac

I'm having a strange issue with my game. I'm using Flash CS6 and a Mac.
I've got a character that I move around the screen with keys, and you can click the left mouse button to make him throw something. The weird issue is when I click the left mouse button a lot, it seems to stop any other inputs from coming in, so for example, if I hold the right arrow key down while I'm doing a left clicking, and then let go of the right arrow key, the character will keep on moving right for a few seconds, until it finally get's the key_up event and stops.
Even not using any mouse event handlers, so the mouse is doing nothing in the game still causes the key inputs to be delayed just by left clicking, any ideas?
I've just tested the .swf on a PC and there was no problem, the mouse clicking was not causing any issues, so it's something peculiar to the Mac.

    Hi,
This could be an issue if you were using Safari 5.1+ in 64bit mode. This should go away if you run Safari 5.1+ in 32 bit mode. You can change this by
    1. Go to /Applications
    2. Find Safari->RightClick->Get Info->Check 'Open in 32-bit mode' check box.
    3. Relaunch Safari 5.1 again.
    Thanks!

  • How do I adjust the system sounds(keyboard and mouse click) in the audio for a software simulation?

Mouse clicks and keyboard strokes very loud in software simulation, but voice is low. I am using Captivate 7

Indeed, I would increase the volume of the voice-over. There is a keystroke sound effect within the C:/Program Files/Adobe/Captivate 7/Gallery/Sound Effects folder, but I'm not sure if that one is directly related to the sound effect used by default.

  • Problems using right-mouse click functionality in a Captivate added to Articulate?

Has anyone experienced any problems using the right-mouse click functionality? It's working fine when I preview the project, or view the published Captivate SWF or HTML file, but it's not working when I insert the published Flash file into Articulate and then try it in the published Articulate. I'm using AS2 and Flash Player v10. When I try to right-click it's bringing up the Flash Settings menu you can click on. I've been into my Flash Manager and told it to always allow content from the folder my Articulate is in but that hasn't made any difference. I'm viewing the Articulate on my C drive and I have read that that can cause problems - does anyone have any ideas? If I left-click it recognises it as a click but doesn't recognise it as the correct click action, so just keeps on bringing up my failure caption and won't allow me to progress.
    Thank you!

    Hello,
The right-click functionality in Captivate is 'in' the JS-file, that is called by the HTML-file that will open the SWF. But if you insert the SWF-file in Presenter (Articulate or Adobe) the right-click functionality will not be there, because you are not using the JS-file. BTW: this was also explained in the thread where you posted this same question before. Please, do not post the same question in 2 different threads

  • Issues with mouse clicks/jumps after using CleanMyMac App.

Since using this app. my hitherto slightly slow responding iMac has required multiple mouse clicks and is less/unresponsive.
    Anyone else used this software?
As yet have not approached CleanMy Mac.
I have reinstalled Mountain Lion (download) not clean install.
Any suggestions? Is there a separate app for mouse that I can reload. Im guessing a minor chunk of code was deleted along with rubbish.
    Reg25x

Uninstall CleanMyMac and do not reinstall it.
CleanMyMac is one of a broad category of time- and money-wasters capable of causing system corruption that can only be rectified by reinstalling OS X, restoring from a backup, or completely erasing your system and rebuilding it from the ground up. Get rid of it and test your Mac for operation. If it does not perform normally, the possibility that Cleanmymac resulted in system corruption must be considered.
The vast majority of Mac problems reported on this site are the direct result of having used garbage like that. Never install such junk on a Mac.

  • Issues with "wait until mouse click"

when I put wait until mouse click it doesn't register mouse down or mouse up. Because of that, my game is sloppy and skips some scenes if I accidentally hold down my mouse for more than a split-second click. Is there any way to manipulate the wait for mouse click behavior so it works only when the mouse button is released?

Hmm, I wonder if he figured it out already, since he didn't even answer your question.  He seems to be talking about the built-in "Wait for Mouse Click or Key Press" behavior in the behavior library.  Sometimes those behaviors can become overly complicated for the simplest of things.  I recommend you just go ahead and roll your own frame script, as EtchK was implying.  It's pretty easy, you just need two short handlers:
    on exitFrame
      go to the frame
    end
    on mouseUp
    -- do whatever
    end

  • Distinguish left and right mouse click

I am making some demo, I don't use any narration. How do I
tell the viewer when to use left mouse click and when to use right
mouse click? Can it be done automatically?

    Hello Simon,
Hmmm, I don't think that there is anything in Captivate that
will automatically let the leaner know that you are
right-clicking...Here are some of the things that I might try.
    1. Adding a text caption that notifies the learner that I am
    right-clicking
    2. At the very start of the demonstration point out to
learners that when they hear a certain sound this is an indication
    that I am right-clicking.
    3. Create a small animation that shows pressing the right
    mouse button
    4. Use one of the existing animations that you can find in
the Adobe Captivate 2 gallery such as visual clicks and again point
out at the beginning of the demo that when they see this animation
you are performing a right-click action, you could also record or
import audio onto your animation if you so desired.
Those are my (of the top of my head) thoughts . I am sure
    that there are others.
    Regards,
    Mark

  • I can't hear a mouse click

    Hey,
On a slide, after you insert the mouse, isn't there something I should do to hear the mouse click.  I've already got all of the buttons checked under the mouse properties(show mouse click and mouse click sound).  Now, shouldn't I simply hear a click at the end of the mouse object? Is there some kind of global setting I am missing?
    What gives?
    Thanks.
    Jeff

    Hi there
Mouse click sounds exist as an audio file and are not recorded. While I'm not one of the Captivate Development team, it is my understanding that all that is recorded are the starting and ending points as well as the pointer in use.
Of course Mouse object provides click sounds. The evidence is in the dialog.
A bit of a mystery as to why you may not be hearing them. Any chance of sharing your project so one of us may see first hand?
    Cheers... Rick

  • Click Audio is out of sync

I'm using Adobe Captivate 4, and for some reason whenever I export my project to SWF, the audio for the mouse click sound is about 1 second off.

    We need some basic info:
What version of Keynote and Mac OS are you using?
What filetype is the sound file?

  • Ctrl + Mouse Click to Advance - Possible?

In the course I'm working on, I want the user to select several options from a list and it uses typical Windows behavior - the user would click and hold ctrl and left mouse click each option.  When I recorded the screen in Captivate 7, the dialogue box states this instruction but when I test it, i can advance by only using the mouse.  Is there a way to force the user to use both the ctrl key and mouse to advance or else get a failure caption?
    Thanks!

First of all, i couldn't figure out how to advance the slide
with the use of the mouse. so i chose the spacebar as the select
key. i used the following settings: on success--continue; allow
    user--one; select keys--space bar; apply settings--all. the
settings-all didn't seem to have any effect. on the slides i worked
on individually, here are the issues i ran into: slide continued to
play for a long time before advancing to the next slide, needed to
press space bar multiple times before slide advanced, clicking
button on screen to advance (the one i created with the click box)
did not seem to have any effect. right now, the show is playing by
itself. my goal is to slow it down so the user has control over
when to advance to the next slide.
