Captivate 8 not transfering fonts from PowerPoint?
I am using Captivate 8. I created a PPT presentation using Bank Gothic BT Medium font. The first time I created a PowerPoint project in Cap8, everything transfered perfectly.
I made some updates to the PPT file, then updated the file within Cap8, and the font changed to something like Arial. No matter what I do, I cannot get the font to update to the correct font, even though it originally transfered over.
To experiment, I made ANOTHER PPT presentation using the same font, and started ANOTHER Cap 8 project, this time from within the program (started Blank project, then inserted PPT presentation). This time the font didn't transfer at all.
Is this a bug issue with Cap 8 not recognizing the font, or is this a PPT issue not transfering the font information from the master slide?
Answering my own question:
My solution was so simple I am embarassed to relate it: I closed Captivate and reopened the program, and now my fonts transfer over. It seems.. (eh hem)... *someone* forgot that when you download and install a new font, you have to close and reopen any program you have open where you will be working with fonts. In this case, I had both PowerPoint and Captivate open however, I opened PowerPoint AFTER I installed the font. So, yeah. One solution. If you are experiencing this font issue, try closing and reopening your project. SAVE FIRST THOUGH!

My photos are not transferring over from iCloud
My photos are not transferring over from iCloud.I have put my device back to factory settings and still they will not transfer over. The only device all my photos are still on is my iPhone.
If it appears to not be making any progress even though you have a strong wifi signal, sometimes turning the phone off, then back on will get things going again. Otherwise about all you can do is try restoring the backup again. If you still have the old phone, you could also try creating an iTunes backup, then restoring that backup to your new phone.

Files Are Not Transferring Correctly from Captivate 4 to 5
My files from Captivate 4 are not transferring correctly into Captivate 5. The images and quiz questions are not in the same place. Help!
This is a bug.
We all have it.
Keep CP4 for the old courses, and develop new ones in CP5. That is what I am doing.
Alternative is to manually adjust everything (don't even get me started on rollovers...)

Itunes 9.2 Not transferring purchases from iPad to Laptop
I've never had a problem transferring applications from Iphone -> iPhone 3G -> iPhone 3GS -> iPad. But today, when I was attempting to transfer my applications to the iPhone 4, they did not appear.
2 Hours of troubleshooting (and a few calls to apple), I've discovered the following:
1) The applications are not being synced onto the laptop. This can be detected in two (2) ways - first, there is an exclamation mark beside the app, missing artwork (seen through the iTunes Library / Apps Screen) - Second, Get Info displays an error message, "The applications could not be used, because the original file could not be found", finally, the "Mobile Applications" directory on my laptop doesn't have the file. It really isn't being transferred onto my laptop.
I've tried the following diagnostic steps
1) Power Cycle Everything.
2) Right Click on the Device, and click on "Transfer Purchases" (though Apple swears this should be automatic)
I am able to download the applications onto my iPhone 4, and I'm not charged for them - but, getting them onto the iPhone 4 that way will probably take me the next four - five hours of determining which ones are missing, and downloading them one at a time.
Anybody else run into this problem and come up with an innovative solution? If you're having an iPhone 4 problem, this isn't the right discussion group...

Transfering presentations from powerpoint to Keynote
Hi
I have transfered a powerpoint presentation onto Keynote and have two problems.
1. When i saved the presenation in Keynote the text does not appear on the presentaion as the texts that are on the presenation are not part of Apples fonts. The texts are Unviers LT Std, Baskerville MT Std and Baskerville MT Std semi bold. How can I import the fonts onto the ipad (which are saved on my works W drive)?? Or can I buy them?
2. When I save the presenation in i-books as a PDF the images of the presenations do not come up!! Does anybody know why?
Please let me know if you have any ideas.
Thanks
RoseThese are the fonts that Keynote on the iPad supports:
iPad supports over 40 fonts and font families which can be used with iWork for iPad apps. When importing a presentation that uses a font not available on iPad, iWork attempts to replace an unsupported font with one that is a close match. If a close match is not found, the Helvetica font will be used instead. After the import process, fonts that were replaced are listed for review by the user.
Fonts available on the iPad include:
American Typewriter
AppleGothic
Arial
Baskerville
Bodoni 72
Bradley Hand
Chalkduster
Cochin
Copperplate
Courier
Courier New
Didot
Futura
Geeza Pro
Georgia
Gill Sans
Heiti J
Helvetica
Hoefler Text
Marker Felt
Optima
Palatino
Papyrus
Party LET
Snell Roundhand
Thonburi
Times New Roman
Trebuchet MS
Verdana
Zapf Dingbats
Zapfino
Sorry to say you can't add fonts to the iPad. The Baskerville font that you are using may not be supported. Even tho it is in the supported list above.
For your second question. Are you making the keynote PDF on the iPad or on a computer? What file format are the images? I just made a two slide keynote with images on the iPad. I converted the keynote to a PDF and emailed to myself. When I open the email, I picked iBooks to open the PDF. All image were there in iBooks. -
I want to edit the text within Captivate after importing slides from PowerPoint
Hi,
Background: I import slides from a .pptx file. Once the slides are created inside of Captivate, I want to edit the text on the slide, but I can't; it's all become part of the background. So, I am left with two options: 1) open the .pptx file, edit the text, and then re-import the slide 2) Manually create everything on the slide inside of Captivate. This is so labor-intensive. I was hoping Captivate 7 would address this, but what seemed could possible address it - High Fidelity - isn't available for mac. I'm sure others have this problem too.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Maybe you'd better look at Adobe Presenter if you need only to convert a PPT to an eLearning course?
Captivate is much more powerful, but its principal goal is not to convert PPT's. Each PPT-slide is converted into a movie slide so that all animations will be transferred properly. Personally I never create presentations in PPT but always directly in CP. You could import only the backgrounds, and create the other objects in CP. Images can be imported into the library, audio as well.

I just bought a macbook pro yesterday (13 inch) from the Apple Store due to my old 2007 macbook (the 13 inch white one) running slow because of the applications I used. I transferred the old files, and backed all of them up on the 500gb G-Drive external hard drive using time share. I gave the computer to a friend of a friend and no longer have it. When I first turned the new computer on, it gave me the option to restore using a back up disk, like my g drive from timeshare. I chose that and it said it had worked fine. But when I got to the home screen, I couldn't find any of my files. The old computer didn't have lion, it was operating on Snow Leopard. I am trying to figure out how to get my files to show up on my new computer. When I click on my g-drive on my desktop, I see my backups, but all of the folders have the red circle with the negative sign in the middle. I was told to go to disk utility, click on the g-drive and click repair disk, so I did. Still, no progress. I tried using migration assistant and my g-drive wasn't showing, the only icon it showed was the Macintosh HD with the timeshare symbol laying on top of it, I tried doing it that way, again, didn't work. I know how to use a mac, but as far as the technical side, I am truly a beginner. I don't know what to do. I talked to 3 different people from Apple Pro Care over the phone yesterday and they were just as confused as I was. One of them told me that Lion doesn't have Rosetta Stone, so Snow Leopard files cannot transfer into Lion...is this true? I looked up my permissions on my old macbook settings and it said "No" on allowing permissions. If I was told to change it to yes, I would have done that before I gave the computer away. I was on the new computer for over 6 hours yesterday trying to recover my files, still nothing. Can anyone please help?!?! I am really frustrated and lost, any assistance would be greatly appreciated...THANK YOU in advance!!
oops, time machine, not timeshare, lol

Adobe Captivate 6.0.1 published file is not containing images from the PPTX.
Has anyone had issues with Captivate not publishing images from the PPTx that show up in Captivate? What am I missing? I am running PowerPoint 2010 - and Captivate 6.0.1 and my published image results on some slides are poor quality, look dithered, and aren't retaining thier color or crispness. Some of the images from the PPTX aren't even coming across... here are two screenshots for example...
Unpublished view from within Captivate
Published view...Hi Vish - I did not create the powerpoint or the image. I am not sure what image type it was but I recreated the white background as a PNG and it seems to have worked. I will forward my white background along to the creator for future projects. Thanks. It was definitely a problem with the image they put into the PPTX file.

Captivate 8 (C8) not transferring correct slide resolution from PowerPoint (PPT)
I am tasked with transferring quite a number of PPT presentations into C8. I have come across a few 'bugs' and am trying to solve them, one by one.
Today's issue: slides from PPT are not transfering into C8 with the correct screen resolution. The first thing I noticed about my slide transfer was that the titles in my PPT slides are not in the same position when transfered over into C8, and the font is pixilated. Even when I go into PPT and make changes, save those changes and then update the file in C8, I still have a problem with the titles not being in the correct spot. I know they are off because the titles appear within a band of silver, with a thick, brown bar above them in PPT. In C8, the titles are squished into the brown bar with too much space left over in the silver band -
The title and bands in PPT:
The title and bands in C8:
This is using the default 10" x 7.5" aspect ratio in PPT, and the pixel equivalent in C8 of 720x540. The font is BANK GOTHIC.
(BTW: I found a chart here - I Came, I Saw, I Learned...: PowerPoint: Changing Slide Sizes for Importing into Captivate which is not correct. For instance, this chart suggests a slide resolution of 10.5" x 7" would transfer over into C8 as1008 px x 672px. This size is incorrect; it still produces incorrect slide resolution. And there is no way to use this chart for custom slide sizes).
When I changed the font (to CENTURY GOTHIC), I did get a better result in the position of my title:
PPT new font:
C8 new font:
However, I am still experiencing the pixilation of the font. I closed this project out of C8 without saving and then re-transfered the files. This time, I went with the C8 default resolution of 960x720 - this translates in Powerpoint to 13.333" x 10". NOT the same slide setting I have in PPT, which is 10" x 7.5" however, this looks much better, with less pixilation of the font within the work area. When I publish it out, the pixilation goes away and the font is smooth again.
My conclusion: some fonts do not transfer well into C8, and screen resolutions differ from PPT, Photoshop and C8. If you are having difficulties getting your PPT slides to look the same in C8, it could be your font is not transfering well, or it could be your screen resolution. Not really an answer, but the big problem IMO is that PPT, although a presentation tool that will use screens (or projection systems) defines a project in printing units (inches or cm) which is totally crazy. Captivate is a bit more normal for that aspect, it uses pixels to define the size. And screens, devices no longer have all 72ppi. Sorry for the ranting...already commented that way when PPT first appeared (used better applications like Freelance Graphics for presentation, they are now killed by PPT). Contrary to Adobe, MS never listens to comments, reported several bugs in MS Project as well, they are still present in the latest version 15years later.

Import from Powerpoint to Captivate 1.0
I'm trying to simply automate a series of Power Point slides
in Captivate. My company has a standard slide format that has
footers with clear text on a colured background. Although the slide
content comes in clearly the footers are blurred, the characters
seemingly merging.
I ideally wanted 800x600 for best web look, but have tried
1024 x768 but the image still appears blurred. I think I have tried
every setting of properties. Any ideas?Hi steve10150 and welcome to our community
Perhaps an old post from one of our former Adobe Community
Experts will help here. Blurry text from PowerPoint imports is a
very common complaint.

When importing PPT slides to a movie, can I stretch the slide

redvic,
It sounds like you have a slight mismatch between the aspect
ratios of your Captivate movie and the PowerPoint presentation. It
strikes me that you could either try 1) using "File > Page
Setup" in PPT to change the aspect ratio of your PPT and then do a
manual capture/import operation into Captivate of the selected
slides, or else 2) if a straight manual capture would not produce a
scalability problem for the slide in Captivate, you could use the
PPT splitter bars to resize the thumbnail image in Normal view to
whatever you need and then manually capture the slide, taking care
to crop the slide top and bottom to get the aspect ratio the way
you need. Hopefully someone else can suggest a more elegant
solution - good luck!
redvic 08/02/2005 09:13:57 AM
Hi,
Thanks, your first suggestion worked! I did not know I could
do a custom-sized PPT slide. I did File > Page Setup and chose
"Custom" for Slides sized for field. Then, I specified the height
and width of the slides based on the size of my existing Captivate
project. For this, I had to convert pixels of the Captivate project
to inches in PPT. I divided the pixels dimensions by 72 and got the
approximate inches. For example, 798x546 in Captivate converted to
11.1" x 7.6" in PPT.
redvic 08/02/2005 03:57:09 PM
Hi,
A caveat to this solution: When I switched to a Custom sized
PPT slide size, PowerPoint automatically adjusted the font sizes,
too. For example, I increased the width of the PPT slide a little
bit and my 24 pt Heading font became 26 pt. Our corporate standard
is 24 pt. So, I had to go into the slides and adjust the font sizes
back to the corporate standards.

Subsequent animations from powerpoint 03 import not playing in .exe
Hello,
I am using Captivate 4 and have imported several slides from powerpoint 03. When I publish to a .exe file, the first bullet animations work, but the subsequent bullet animations do not occur. When I watch inside the edit view in Captivate, all animations are working perfectly...it's only upon publishing to .exe for review. I'm concerned they won't play when published to LMS. My coworker said that she had seen something about this in Captivate 3, but to search the forums for an answer...I can't find one on here. I hope you can help, thank you!NM, I figured it out! The menu button objects were set to pause, which was pausing my animations halfway through since the animations were longer from slide to slide.

Captivate 6 Created from PowerPoint - flicker issue
I am using Adobe Captivate 6.0.1.240, and my employer (State of Idaho) is working out the details with Adobe of paying for subscription service to the eLearning Suite.
However, right now I am finishing a project that was imported from PowerPoint 2010, and I have the flicker happening at the beginnings of any slides with animation.
I understand that a patch is available for subscription customers that would fix this issue and bring my version to Captivate 6.1.0.319.
Is there any way that I can get a fix to this problem in advance?
Having the users click “next” on each slide is not a good solution in this course. I really want the users to have the TOC available (which they will not if I have to import my audio to PPT and save it as a .wmv). And I will be hard-pressed to recreate the project in Captivate before the go-live date.
I have to say that the only reason this was created in PowerPoint to begin with is that we anticipated delivering it live via webinar and a last-minute decision has me converting it to eLearning.
Thank you,

Captivate 5 Won't Import My Font From PPT
I'm working with Captivate 5 and PPT 2007. I'm importing a PPT presentation into Captivate and it will not pull my fonts through. It changes everything to the Captivate default font. The strangest thing is that I imported the exact same PPT presentation yesterday and it kept my fonts. I've tried it several times today and it won't do it. The font is an option to select in Captivate so I just can't image why it's doing this. Any idea earthly idea why this is happening?? I need help quick!

Subject: [Import/Export] Captivate 5 Won't Import My Font From PPT
Have you tried importing a small PPT with the same required font into a new Captivate project?
I'm wondering if the issue is due to some corruption in your current project. Sometimes trying the same task in a brand new project file works, where doing it in another existing project doesn't.
Perhaps you could also take a screenshot of the font issue and show us what it looks like and what it should look like?
