Captivate 8 Only Previews Using Internet Explorer Browser

I'm wondering if this might be an issue related to the firewall pop-up problem, but I haven't seen this particular question on the forums yet, so here goes...
I'm a Windows 8.1 user. No matter what I do (Google Chrome is set as default browser, html files are set to open with chrome by default, blah blah) Captivate 8 ONLY launches my IE11 browser when I preview my projects. This is a particular annoyance since I like to use Edge Inspect, and I can't because the Edge Inspect preview option even launches my IE11 browser. Very strange. I know how to USE Edge Inspect - I use it all the time with Brackets (and former Edge Code) when building websites - so this is not the problem. I have the plug-in installed in my Chrome browser, and I have the Inspect program running etc... Captivate 8 just refuses to launch any other browser other than IE no matter what I do. Project type doesn't matter either - responsive, standard... all the same result. Anyone else have this problem (or better yet - know of a solution)? I couldn't find any default browser options in Captivate itself either (also weird). I'm thinking about trying the firewall pop-up fix to see if that gets rid of the problem (which is another problem I'm having).
I would LIKE to avoid hacking the software, and prefer waiting for a formal fix/update. But so far, I run into nothing but constraints and issues using this program - starting to get pretty annoyed with it to be honest. Seems very cloogie and unpolished to say the least - especially as far as this HTML5 and responsiveness is concerned. Not impressed with any of these "rapid elearning" tools truthfully (Storyline... none of em). I seem to spend all my time trying to get them to do simple things that should be inherent, rather than spending my time developing. Man... really missing the unlimited creative freedom of Flash Pro development for elearning these days. I'm starting to think custom dev using Edge Animate (or Flash Pro to canvas) and real HTML5 pages would actually be easier, but nobody seems to be hiring for custom anymore. May sacrifice the (imo) somewhat gratuitous LMS communication support (why people aren't utilizing their built in LMS test environment is beyond me), but at least I'd have some control over things. Sigh... anyhow, I digress...

Not that this is a help for your situation, but I have noted that my published projects do not play correctly in any browser if I try to launch the index.html file. I have to launch the multiscreen.html version in order to have everything work perfectly. And it has to be Internet Explorer - doesn't play in Chrome.

We are doing a web application with Portal technology. It contains several tabs within each one contain one java portlet, by mean, one .jsp page. So, when we use the application in Internet Explorer browser in some time, one tab of tha application only works very well, the others are as locked or disabled and we can't use the others tab. We want to know if it ocurres because we are using Internet Explorer browser..??..because we use the application in Firefox browser and everything was very well. You may not be using the recommended version of IE.
You can check browser recommendations in Portal User's Guide, which is available at

How do I stop Firefox from creating untitled web pages when I try to send email from a web page. The only way I have found is to turn the computor off and then reboot. I don't have this problem when using Internet Explorer

Every time I click on a web site that has an email option the browser starts making untitled web pages and never stops unless I turn the computer off. It is very frustrating to not be able to use an email option when offered by a web site. The only way I can send email messages on the Firefox browser is to go into my hotmail acct. and copy and paste the addresses. I don't have this problem when I use the Internet Explorer browser.

#Start Internet Explorer.

#Remove the checkmark from: "''Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default browser''. 
#Click Apply/OK and then close Internet Explorer. 
#Start Firefox, click the orange Firefox button, go to Options | Options | Advanced. 
#In the General tab, menu at the bottom, checkmark "'''Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup'''" and then click the "''Check Now''" button. 
#Click OK.

When I use my hotmail now using Firefox as my browser the text has now shrunk to microspcopic proprtions so as to make it unreadable. This does not happen when I open my hotmail using Internet Explorer as my browser

I was using hotmail yesterday using Firefox as my browser. As I was typing an email the print kept getting smaller and smaller. All folders and text in the inboxes is now so small I cannot read it. My only alternative is to use Internet Explorer as my browser which is still working fine

Using Internet Explorer 5.5 to browse a Webdb 2.2 site.

I am browsing a Webdb 2.2 site using Internet Explorer 5.5. We have Webdb 2.2 running on an NT server. In navigating through the site, I am running into a situation where another browser window will open when I click on a link that opens a file. This happens unpredictably and I am having difficulty pinpointing the cause of this. This has only been occurring since I upgraded to I.E. 5.5. Wow, IE for Mac is pretty old. What Mac OS are you using? I'm 99% sure you're going to need an older version of the Player, but I'll need to know the OS version to figure out which one.

About accessing using a browser: I can get in using Firefox or Safari, butI cant set the page up to see all my inboxes at the same time (so I can file emails appropriately) or get a preview to save opening every mail

There should be a User Agent Switcher menu item under Tools, which gives you the browser names you can impersonate.
The menu item name changes to the browser UA you are presently using.
There is also a User Agent Switcher button, you can add it using View -> Toolbars -> Customize, and dragging the button to your toolbar.

You can just start trying IE versions (or the versions it says on the site) until it lets you in.

I would guess the plugin is enabled since when I use Foxfire as my browser, all pdfs download and are readable. (just doesn’t happen when I use IE as my browser, I get a blank screen with a small “x” in the upper left corner)

Tried to see if it is looking for flash and it is disabled or not installed by default; java (not being installed and best to turn it off normally), browser agent to report it as something else.
Opera comes the closest I've read to spoofing a site telling it is IE but you have to do so per site. Also OmniWeb.

An email will have a "Click here" link and when I click it goes to a internet explorer browsing, not a firefox browser

That is is always a problem when you are using multiple profiles and Firefox isn't running.
It might work if no profile is selected (i.e. marked as Default=1 in profiles.ini). 
You can use desktop shortcut that open with a specific profile (-P "profile"). 
There is also a setting in the Profile Manager (Don't ask at startup).

I download Fx3.6.15 and the problem happen with the last flash plugin, blocking the cookies to youtube.com and deleting the cookies already stored made posible to play all videos

I've discovered that I can't download files in yahoo only, Gmail works ok and I can download from yahoo using Internet Explorer.

I've tried all the suggested solutions in: What to do if you can't download or save files.
I can't download from Yahoo, but can from Gmail. I've tested using copies of the same file on both. Someone suggested checking malware, but I've run a scan and don't have a problem, and as I say, i can use Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. Someone asked for a screen shot, who knows why.

When I print an email using firefox as my browser the print if very, very tiny. No problem using Internet Explorer. This happens with both my Gmail and my AOL emails.

I have researched the answers online and it seems that if I go to Firefox>file>page setup>scale and set it to 100% it may fix the problem. However, I cannot figure out how to take the first step. Where can I find "file"????

2. if that orange Firefox button isn't showing and the Menu bar is - click to open File - then click to open Page Setup

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
