Captivate 8 Print Handouts: Fail

When trying to print, I get an error that says:
"Publish to MS Word failed. Retry after ensuring that
- The document is not open.
- You have installed Microsoft Word"
So... the document is NOT open, and I have an installed, licensed version of Microsoft Word on my computer. What's the problem? Seems to be an issue that many are experiencing based on the chatter - is Adobe putting together a patch/fix for this?

I'm having this issue too.
It was working fine for three projects then just started to fail at 50% with same error message as above.

Tried Aren's fix. Doesn't work.
Updated to new version of Captivate with 'bug fixes' today.
No Help
Ran office updates for MS office 2011
No fix.
Can somebody from Adobe post a solution please.

Hi,
When I print handouts in Captivate 8, the Word document doesn't show the screenshots of each slide. Instead it shows white boxes.
I have cleared Captivate cache, restarted my computer and also tried it on a different computer.

Captivate 8 Freezes When Printing Handouts to Word 2013

Printing handouts to Word freezes Captivate 8 when the progress bar reaches 90%. At this point, via the Windows task manager, I gather that Word is asking to save both the .normal template and a file 'Adobe Captive.dotm' in the gallery folder. Clicking the save button has no effect, other than messages noting that these files are locked or read only.
I am able to work around this by first starting Word as an administrator (and leaving it running) then starting Captivate as an administrator. But this only works for me because I own my hardware. This will be an issue for corporate users lacking admin rights on their PCs.
The issue does not resolve permanently after doing the above workaround. Rather, as soon as I am not logged in as an admin, the issue recurs. Printing Step by Step docs to Word works without the workaround, possibly because the Word formatting is rudimentary. I have tried several output locations on the C: drive, desktop, etc. with the same results.
I am running Webroot antivirus, Windows 8, on an i7 ultrabook with ample memory and drive space. Adobe personnel, this issue is noted in Case #0185556636.

If you navigate to the EXE files for Captivate and Word in the Program Files folder, right click the EXE and set the option in the Compatibility tab to Run As Administrator, then these applications should always launch with Administrator privileges.
You are correct that corporate users will not likely be able to do this as most corporate systems are locked down to a point where common users do not have any level of admin privileges. There are times when Captivate will simply NOT work well for those users.

In installing Adobe XI Pro this error message was received "error 1920 service print spooler failed to start verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services". What does this mean and how can I get this installed?

It very much means what it says - you do not have sufficient administrative privileges and something on your system is blocking the (virtual) PDF printer driver from being installed.

Printing handouts for a subset of slides

When I build a course I will have a full eight or nine classes in it. I print handouts for each class. For example 1-15 maybe for class1, and 16-30 for class2 and so forth.
With ppt I could print handouts for slides 16-30. Cannot seem to do that with Keynote. My workaround is print all, do print preview, figure out which pages the handouts I want are on, then go back and print only those pages. Anyone figured out how to do this easily?
Please do not tell me this is something PowerPoint can do and Keynote cannot.

just give a try with this .
create one loop and for that give your int_tab which holds the records of all the checks say 10 checks.
also create one program lines wherein you l set the flag to 1 whenever the itab count increases if not then set the flag to 0.
now inside the main window create one command node and check the go to new page checkbox and give your second(or next page) name , and in the conditions tab keep the flag = 1.
the extra work you need to do is you have to create one next page with all the same windows which will triggers for evry new line item.

Yes. Usually the printer uses a combination of black and colour blocks to perform an aligment. The specific patterns differ from printer to printer but the pattern is either read by an internal sensor or you have to take the page and put it on the scanner to scan the alignment page in some all-in-one printers.

Error when printing: Printer selection failed. Restoring the previous selection.

Sometimes when I'm printing in InDesign CS3 the default printer is PostScript and when trying to change it the error "Printer selection failed. Restoring the previous selection." appears.
It´s the same error as in this unsolved old thread:

Does anyone have a solution to this?

What is the OS? CS3 was not tested on recent OS versions and may not be fully functional. You can export to PDF and print that from Acrobat or Reader.

Powerpoint 2011: Printing Handout Problem

I have MS Office 2011 installed on my MBP. When I try to print a handout for my lecture, I get no option in the Print Dialog box for "Copies & Pages". THis happened to me in the past with Office 2008 and somehow resolved with software updates. The software works fine on my other 4 macs. KeyNote and other MS Office 2011 apps do not have this issue, just Powerpoint.I noticed in the MS Mac 2011 forums this answer to the problem:
"I seams, that printing handouts is only possible if the HD format is "Mac OS Extended Journaled"."
This post recommended reformatting my hard drive to the above format. Any thoughts on this and why this would work?

A way to test if it is going to be helpful would be to purchase a USB hard drive and format it to Journaled. You could then use [Carbon Copy Cloner|http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html] to create a bootable image of your MBP drive. Once the backup is complete you could then use Startup Disk to reboot from this drive and check that what they have said is correct. If it is then you could wipe your existing drive with the new format and use the CCC backup to import your data.

Adobe print engine failed to output your data due to an unknown problem using modified font

I have a document I created in InDesign CS5.5 with no issues. One of the fonts had a some issues with how the letters looked, so I modified the font (True Type) with a font editor. The documet on screen looks fine and passes preflight with no issues, but when I try to print it to any printer or PDF (Adobe PDF or Winpdf wirter) I get the error: adobe print engine failed to output your data due to an unknown problem. I also tried to create a document in MS Word with the same modified font and had no issues printing. Can anyone check into the issue with InDesign with this font if I send it to you? I also did try to create a new document in InDesign with just some text using the modified font and it will not print that one either.

Did you change the internal naming/IDs when you created your varient? If not, try removing the version you began with. Paths all closed, etc?

OEAP602 RLAN; print server fails to connect but laptop does

This AM I tested a 602 with a Lexmark print server patched to rlan (4) in house. It acquired its DHCP IP and functioned as expected.

Yes the 602 is alive and well but the WLC logs indicate:

In the past, supported bitrate for the rlan to work was 1 or 2 mbps. Current code 7.6.120.0 I believe has the little bug fixed as I have all rates below 11 disabled and my other 13 rlan clients are working fine.

The WLC was reading a message from the client, and the client did not tell the WLC what rates it could support. This could happen because the packet from the client wasn't heard fully. As well, some clients will see the WLC that they are associated to, and not the individual Device. In this case, it is possible that the client didnt' send the supported rates, as it didn't see a change in BSSID>

PRINTER SELECTION FAILED. REVERTING TO PREVIOUS PRINTER

When I try to select any device I get the message that "printer selection failed. Restoring the previous selection". I was printing yesterday, and suddenly I was unable to print. I have trashed the driver and reinstalled it, but it runs the gamut from my HP 5100 to my Brisque device, nothing prints.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just noticed someting else. When I am attempting to add a printer, the printer icons look different than the ones on the other G5's in my office. These icons look like smaller desktop printers with a blue strip to maybe indicate paper, the icons on the other G5 looks more box like, all white and the icon for the plotter on the other G5 looks like a plotter.
Something is weird. Would reinstalling system software help?

Printer policy failing

What is the best way to troubleshoot a printer policy failing?
Win7 64bit. I just added a new iPrint printer. Added it to my
printer policy. It worked on all computers except one (at least that
I am aware of). On this one, when I refresh, the policy will push
down the other three iPrint printers, but not the new one. Where can
I find some detailed info so I can figure out what is wrong here?

Rule lines not showing up when printing handouts

Choosing 'handouts' and selecting add rule lines and nothing shows up, on printed copy or pdf preview. Missing something?

having the same problem but have found a workaround until its fixed. Just type a series of underscores in the notes window and then copy and paste to each slide. When you print handouts with notes the lines will show up. Not optimal but works until this problem is fixed.

Reprint Letter...when printing process failed

Hi all,
I have created a letter-form report which has to be printed on a daily basis. I need to have a program or message whenever this printing process fails.
I need to have a utility(or create one) such that the user can enter some parameters like the date_range(one of the parameter of the report) or some thing and reprint the letters.
I thought of using AFTER REPORT trigger which calls another report with parameters when encountered an error. but didn't work as the AFTER REPORT trigger will fire even though the report was done successfully and doesnot fire if there is any error in the printing process.
Any ideas or support would be greatly appreciated.
