Captivate 8 Published Project Problems

When testing my course on mobile devices there seems to be a major loading problem. The course will freeze and then the slide appears with either no voice over or no graphic or even nothing. I tested on the new Galaxy Nexus tablet therefore i thought it could be android as they are known for html 5 and flash problems, however i then tested on an Ipad and the same issue keeps occurring. I can't think of anything to do as all other coursers (in captivate 7) work beautifully no problems, and now i cant go back to Captivate 7 as all files are now Captivate 8.
Please help. Thank you.

Hey,
Thanks for replying.
I did a quick test with a few random slides and they work fine. They arnt any of the slides from the course I am currently working on, should I test them instead?
Kind Regards

  • Best Practice tips for publishing Captivate 8 project?

Does anyone have any Best Practice Tips for publishing Captivate 8 projects?  Is HTML5/Flash the most universal?
We will begin testing/training before our LMS is functional.
We have no shared network capability or SharePoint type platform.  Project is too large for e-mail even when zipped.
I am thinking that we will have to use thumb drive/CD along those lines.

  • Adobe Captivate 8 projects published to HTML 5 shows major loading problems and stops

Adobe Captivate 8 projects published to HTML 5 cause major loading problems in most browsers(IE 11, Chrome v. 35.0, Firefox v. 31). Loading… (screen)
The view stops after a while and only the Loading… (icon) can be seen on the page.
Is this a known problem with Captivate projects published to html5 and is there a way to fix it? What is wrong?
Test the html5 version of this project at: http://kurs.dokker.no/captivate/
and see for yourself what happends.

I changed the Preferences/Project/Start and End  Preloader % to 25 and published the projects again. The course: http://kurs.dokker.no/captivate/elev/
stopped like before on one of the first slides, loading… screen like before in IE11.
In Chrome v. 37.0 the course worked badly, would not run, sound missing and buttons not working.
In Firefox 31.0 the course worked to a degree even if the program was advising to use another browser for this content.
In Opera 23.0 sound was missing and else working as bad as IE.
All this testes is done on a PC using Windows 8 connected på internet via ethernet, download speed: 66.57.
I would like to use the HTML5-format since it has a cleaner view than swf-files that appear to be jagged, but there is a lot missing before Adobe Captivates html5 publish is where it needs to be. Her are the complete html5 course and here are the swf based course for comparison.

  • Adobe Captivate Help | Publish projects as HTML5 files

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/publish-projects-html5-files.html

I opened a captivate project and published as HTML5. It worked in a browser on the desktop. then I tried it on an iPad. That also worked. Then I tried it on an iPhone. that worked, but the document was far too large for the iphone to display. I was curious as to whether or not the "scale html content" check box would make a difference for iphone, so I tried it. It did fix that problem, but, as expected, it broke the animations. Now when I try to publish to HTML5 it creates a sort-of hybrid, where the document is the correct dimensions in a browser on the desktop, but it is forced into smaller dimensions on the iPad, and no where do the animations work anymore, although the "scale html content" check box is unchecked. I used the Captivate cache clearing button in preferences and cleared my browser cache on the iPad, restarted the computer, etc. To no avail. It seems using the "scale html content" has permanently broken Captivate 7. I am now considering reinstalling it.

  • Captivate 4 Possible to remove borders/padding around published project?

    Greetings,
I am working with Captivate 4 and publishing to a SCORM 1.2 compliant LMS. I would like to publish a project without having the borders/padding surrounding the project files. Is this possible? If so, where would I look to find instructions to do this?
When published in our LMS, the LMS generates a window of a fixed sixe. This is set in the LMS itself and can be changed in the LMS. The goal being to remove browser controls and scroll bars from the user’s point of view when they launch a lesson showing only the lesson.
In previous versions of Captivate (2 and 3) I was able modify the SCORM.htm file in such a way that I could remove any padding around published project files. The SCORM.htm file used a table to center the Captivate SWF files in the users screen. I could edit this file and use absolute positioning to eliminate (the table tags) “dead space” around a project swf file.
Doing this in Captivate 4 (editing Custom.htm and Default.htm) does not seem to have the same effect. (In fact it seems to have no affect (good or bad) at all.
Has anyone had any success in doing this?
Also, has anyone used the new Captivate 5 yet? Does it have the same presentation limitations as Captivate 4?
    Thank you,
    TPK

    TPK,
This worked perfect.  The only problem that I have is that it still leaves a small ribbon of white at the top and the bottom of the window.  Any idea how to remove that?
Here is the current HTM text

  • Buttons not working in published project in Captivate 4

    Hi,
I have been able to create projects using powerpoint 2007 and Captivate 4, and when published, the buttons connect to the appropriate URL's.  I just started a new project, importing a powerpoint.  When I preview it, the buttons work and the URL's open.  However, when I publish using the email option, and view the project, the buttons don't work. I don't think I'm doing anything differently from previous projects.  I've installed the latest version of Flash, and they are still not working.  I'm not sure what to do next.
    Thanks!

    Welcome to our community
If you are emailing the Captivate published file, likely the end user is running it from a temporary folder from their C drive. And that causes a security issue with Flash.
If you insist on using the eMail method of distribution, you need to also instruct the user to save the attached files to a specific location, launch the HTML file. Then ensure they configure their Flash player security settings to acknowledge the location where they saved the files as being safe.

  • Click boxes and buttons not working in Captivate 3 published projects

I really, really, hope that someone can help me...
we are migrating from Centra/Saba LMS to Connect Pro LMS and while taking our "old" SCORM projects and posting them to the Connect Pro server we have encountered an issue...and the reason it's very hard to trouble shoot is that it's not all of the projects....??
Once a project is pulished none of the buttons or click boxes are working - for instance we use a play button on the frist slide for students to enter the course - you click it nothing happens (except when you mouse over the button it does change color)...same with the click boxes - I can use the progress bar to move froward but anything I click just doesn't respond...
Has anyone encountered this? and I hope know something we can do?
    THANKS SO MUCH,
    Jen

Do your published projects work outside of your LMS?
Or is it just inside the new LMS that it isn't working?
Usually buttons and click boxes not working is because your slides are pausing before the button becomes active.
What version of Captivate and Flash are you using?

  • Buttons not working on published SWF Captivate 2 project

I have published a daisychained Captivate 2 project in three
pieces, all published as SWF. The first piece plays fine, but a
user has to push a button to choose to either go to the second
piece OR the third piece. The button was designed so that when
pressed, it would open another CP project. The buttons in the
published pieces make the clicking sound, but otherwise do nothing.
When I published this as an EXE project with three pieces, the
buttons did what they were supposed to do. I'd prefer to use SWF
published output instead of EXEs. Any ideas as to what might be
happening to prohibit the buttons from performing?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

  • Does Captivate use whatever version of Flash you have installed to publish project?

Does Captivate use whatever version of Flash you have
installed to publish project? I wondering if I delete Flash 8 will
Captivate only publish in the only version of Flash you have
installed and thus availabile on your computer?

When I bring it into Flash MX, I have lost alot of my button
info. Do I have to go back and manually include that information in
    Flahs MX 2004?

  • My published Captivate 4 project has the tops of capital letters cut off

I am using Captivate 4, on Windows 7.  My screen resolution is 1680x1050.
When I publish my Captivate 4 project to Flash 9 HTML and view the published version, the tops of Capital letters are cut off in the text boxes.  I have resized and expanded the text boxes, and even tried moving them around, but no improvement.
The font size in the text boxes is Arial 16, and Arial 12.
What can I adjust so the text displays properly when published and the tops of the letters are not cut off?

    Hi there
At any point along the way have you checked the DPI settings on your machine?
Click Start > Run, type Desk.cpl into the dialog and press Enter
    Click the Settings tab
    Click the Advanced button
Click the General tab (It's likely already there)
    Examine the DPI setting.
Sometimes the DPI is set to something like 120 and it causes issues with captions. Setting to 96 often cures that.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Captivate 8, Publish, Project Title isn't remembered if it is the same as file name

    Example:
Publish a Captivate 8 project and change the Project Title to 'Test'
    Save the project as 'FinalTest'
Publish the project again and change the Project Title to 'FinalTest' (It should be remember 'Test' from before)
Publish the project again and notice the Project Title is still 'Test'
    Workaround
Save the project temporarily as something else
    Publish the project as 'FinalTest'
